Chapter 22: Jago

Green leaves looked blue in the pale moonlight as the three former pirates pushed away the branches that exteneded from various trees. They had been trying to navigate their way through the forest for hours, though it seemed like an eternity. Lonewolf was beginning to get quite annoyed of Majik constantly asking "Are we there yet?!".

"I have an idea!" Chimed Majik as they walked along an open path. "Shut up Majik." Stated Lonewolf, already knowing Majik well enough to completely ignore his stupid ideas. "No, seriously!" Lonewolf waved a hand at him without looking back, "I don't want to hear it." Majik whined loudly, "Aww come ooonn!" Aerial remained silent as usual.

Just then, Lonewolf smelled water in the air. He stopped and sniffed at the air, "...smell that?" He asked. Majik took a big whiff of the night air and heaved out a loud sigh, "No." He said. Aerial perked his nose up as he sniffed the air, "Water." He stated. Lonewolf nodded, "Yes..." He sniffed at the air some more, "Seems to be coming from..." He pointed northeast, "That way." The three men jogged down the dirt path towards a group of trees that were all growing next to each other. As they made their way past the thick tree trunks, all three of the men stopped to stare in awe.

They stepped into a large forest clearing, revealing a wide, sparkling blue lake that shimmered in the full moon's light. The lake was not very vast and may have been only a couple of hundred feet wide. However, it seemed like the full moon's light casted a white beam upon the lake, almost as if the lake itself was feeding off the moonlight.

"This has to be it." Stated Lonewolf with a mischievous smirk crossing his lip. Aerial nodded in agreement. Majik leaped in the air with glee, "Woohoo!" He took off his shirt and dove into the water. Splashing around in it as he guffawed in laughter, "I'm RIIICH!!" Lonewolf figured that now was a good time to let Majik know the truth...

"Um...Majik..?" Majik looked up at Lone with a wide smile, "Yeees?" Lonewolf hesitated a bit then continued, "Um...what I told you back at the guild..about the holy water being valuable..." Majik's smile began to fade, "It was a lie to get you to come with us...the holy water isn't valuable money-wise. However, it is valuable to the guild to protect us against a demon attack." Majik was already gritting his teeth in rage. He leaped out of the lake as he picked up his greatsword, "Grrr! I'll kill you!"

"Now don't go and do a thing like that..." An unfamiliar voice spoke from within the shadows of a nearby tree. "Please...allow us that pleasure." A man, clad in black, spikey armor stepped out from under a tree. As he did this, at least another dozen or so men with the same type of armor followed. The man who spoke took off his helmet, revealing his pale skin and short white hair with long bangs that had black tips at the end of its strands. His red eyes seemed to glow in the darkness of the night.

"Who are you?!" Demanded Lonewolf as he unsheathed his rapier. Majik was already facing the stranger with his greatsword drawn. Aerial nervously pulled out his dagger. "I'll tell you that after you have answered my question first." said the white haired man. Lonewolf's eyebrows furrowed, this stranger was obviously a demon from the Kenise clan due to the similar hair, skin and eye color they all share. So that would mean he may be a soldier of Kratos' army which definately made this stranger a potential enemy. "Forget it demon. I'm not answering your questions." He said as he made a mental note of the strange insignia on the stranger's tasset. It was the silhouette of a horned head on top of red cloth which was embroidered with gold around the edges.

The stranger shook his head, "Tsk tsk tsk...such a pity. Very well then. Have it your way." He turned to face his armor clad men, "Send Prince Kaze a message." He stated. As he said this, all of his men tripled in size as they transformed into their demon forms, though their armor expanded with their bodies as if it was meant to do that. The white-haired stranger turned back around to regard Lonewolf with a cocky smile, "I give you one last chance. Give me your name, or I will unleash my men upon you and your two friends."

A name? That's all this guy wanted? Lonewolf's shoulders slumped as he saw that he had no choice in the matter. Live or die. That is what this stranger was practically asking him. He made his decision:

"...Lonewolf." He said, defeated.

The stranger cocked an eyebrow, "Lonewolf huh? Very well, that was all I needed. Goodbye Mr. Lonewolf." The man nodded at his men, who in turn advanced towards Lonewolf and his friends. "W..wait! I thought you said you wouldn't unleash your men on us if I gave you my name!" The stranger shrugged, "I lied." He said simply with a cocky grin.

"DAMN YOU!!!" Majik suddenly shot a fireball at the stranger, who negated the attack with a blue barrier spell. Majik then leaped into the air with his greatsword over his head as he came down on the stranger. "Majik! No!!" Lonewolf tried to cry out, but it was too late. Majik gets blown away by a simple wave of the stranger's hand. He flew up in the air past Lonewolf and Aerial and landed hard on his back in the mud. He didn't get up.

"Majik!" Lonewolf cried out, but Majik's body didn't move at all. Angered by this, Lonewolf turned to regard the stranger and his demonic men and fired a large purple energy blast in their direction. The blast enveloped their bodies, but when the smoke cleared, they were all stilll standing completely unscathed. Lonewolf was stunned by the sheer power of these men.

"Get them." Stated the stranger, still smiling. Three demons went for Lonewolf as three more went for Aerial. The two dragoons attempted to counter, but to no avail. The demons were just too powerful for them. They held Aerial and Lonewolf in headlocks as they disarmed them completely. The stranger stepped forward as he studied both, Lonewolf and Aerial.

After a few moments, he pointed at Aerial. "Him." He stated. The demon who held Aerial in a headlock tightened its grip around his neck. Aerial's eyes shifted quickly to Lonewolf. His eyes were wide with fear as he and Lone both knew what the demon was about to do. Lonewolf kicked and writhed wildly as he tried to get out of the demon's grip, but to no avail. Knowing that he couldn't do anything else, he finally let out a defiant plead, "NO!"

"Snap."

Lonewolf watched helplessly as the demon snapped his good friend's neck as if it were a piece of celery. Aerial fell limp in the demon's arms. "NO!!!" Lonewolf cried again as tears enveloped his eyes. The demon let go of Aerial, letting his limp body fall to the wet mud with a moist, yet audible "thud". Aerial's eyes were rolled all the way back as the color in his skin began to fade. "YOU SONNOVA b***h!!!" Lonewolf cried out with a hoarse sounding voice. Tears streamed down his cheeks as his eyes grew wild with rage.

The stranger looked over at Lonewolf, the cocky grin still visible on his lips. "You'll get your turn soon enough." He stated playfully. He nodded at the demon who was holding Lonewolf. The demon tightened it's grip around Lonewolf's neck, though this time, they didn't snap his neck.

The stranger unsheathed his seven-foot katana and studdied it for a moment. Admiring the saw-like teeth along the long, thin blade. He then held the tip of his blade by Lonewolf's forehead. "The death of your friend was merely a message to Prince Kaze. This however, will be a warning for you. A slow and painful death to anyone who aids Kaze Kenise, the traitor." The stranger said this as he slowly began to carve a diagonal gash in Lonewolf's forehead, beginning above Lonewolf's right brow and ending in the middle of his left cheek.

Lonewolf writhed and cried out in agony as the stranger took his time carving this large scar on Lonewolf's face. Blood spilled all over the entire right side of his face as it began to create a large puddle of blood in the mud beneath him.

Just then, an aubidle splash could be heard coming from the lake followed by an unfamiliar voice, "Begone demons!" A hooded man stood knee-deep in the holy lake. He was clad in a long white robe that had baggy-oversized sleeves. He wore a closed, baby blue cloth vest over the robe as well as a white leather belt with various pouches around his waist. He stood defiantly in front of the demonic stranger as he held his golden staff out in front of him, standing it up in the water with both his hands.

The stranger scoffed at the sight of this nobody. "And how do you propose you will be doing that?" He asked with a cocky smile. Just then, as if to answer the stranger's question, a small wave began to develope in the water a few feet away from behind the hooded man. The wave slowly grew larger and larger as it neared the man standing in the water.

One of the large demons looked over at its commander, "Sir Jago, what shall we do?" It asked frantically as it kept its eyes on the oncoming wave of holy water coming their way. Jago cursed under his breath, "Tch...retreat!" The demon holding Lonewolf dropped its hostage to the ground as it followed Jago and the other demons away from the lake. They all disappeared from the forest clearing.

The large wave died down suddenly before hitting the shore as the hooded man stepped out of the water and walked over to the bloody mess known as Lonewolf. The man pulled his hood back behind his head, revealing a youthful face with dark green eyes and black short hair that was all combed over to the right side of his head. He stared at Lonewolf who was lying in the mud on his stomache and slowly flipped him up onto his back. The man examined Lonewolf's wound and held his golden staff above Lone's face.

A faint light glimmered off of the man's staff, causing the bleeding to stop from Lonewolf's new scar. "That should do it." Said the man to himself. Lonewolf was barely able to hold on to his own consciousness, "Home...dra...dragoons..." Lonewolf feebly lifted up his hand to point west, "g...guil..d...." He passed out.

The man nodded and picked up Lonewolf's body. He held Lonewolf over his right shoulder as he grabbed his golden staff with his left hand, lifting it to the air. A faint light flashed from the staff once again, only this time Majik and Aerial's bodies magically lifted up into the air. The man proceeded through the forest in the general direction Lonewolf pointed at before he passed out with the two other bodies magically floating behind him.

Chapter 23: Honor

Jago retreated back to castle Merilith to report to his master about Lonewolf. Atop their steeds, Jago and his small group of scouts raced through town as they passed various women and children, all of which had pale skin, red eyes and white hair. They lived like regular village peasants, farming, tending to their garden, doing laundry, etc. White haired little boys and girls played tag with each other, only to stop and stare respectfully at Jago and his men as they galloped by on their black horses.

Once they arrived at the castle, Jago stepped off his steed and began to head inside the castle's gate, leaving the scouts behind. Jago hesitated as he stared at the tower steps that lead to the castle's throne room. His forehead felt moist. He reached up and wiped at his brow, then looked at his metal gauntlet. Beads of salty water dripped off the metal gloves...sweat.

Jago tried to recall the last time he sweated like this. It was many years ago when the Kenise clan waged war against the Granbull clan that infested the island of Croatia. Savages, thought Jago with a curled upper lip. The Granbull clan had no war strategy whatsoever, running into battle blindly wielding their weapons. Kill or be killed, that was their philosophy.

The wild demons attacked Jago's infantry in neverending waves, pinning the army general down. It seemed like the end was near for him. That was when he began to sweat...he rushed into battle with a moist brow, completely accepting the possibility of death. Then it happened...Hajimajisen, the demon prince himself, clad in his royal black armor complete with a long, flowing crimson red cape, rushed to Jago's rescue as he wielded his magical greatsword. Hajimajisen's platoon of pure-blooded demons flanked the Granbull army from all sides, crushing them instantly and ridding Croatia of their disgusting pressence for good.

The good ol' days, thought Jago with a mournful sigh. Back then, before Kratos took over, the Merilith army was all about honor and glory. Now, they were mere ruffians with absolutely no honor. Surprise attacking peaceful villages throughout Croatia, murdering countless women and children. Jago despised painting his hands red with the blood of weakalings. People who would never be able to defend themselves properly.

Does he feel remorse? No. Nor does he feel any pleasure from it. Ordering his men to snap that flimsy little man's neck was merely a necesity. An act of war, as Jago liked to call it. As for Lonewolf...he had to admit, the fire that burned through that man's eyes as they killed his friend had somewhat amused Jago. This "Lonewolf" character certainly has the potential to be a great warrior, though he was quite lacking in the strength department. Jago secretly hoped that Lonewolf would take an act of vengence and wage war against Merilith's army. He couldn't wait to face the young human in battle. Jago always enjoyed facing someone who had an undying hatred towards him. After all, a fight between rivals always proved to be the most entertaining.

He looked up at the steps, still sweating quite profusely. He had to admit...he feared Kratos. The demon lord possessed a vast amount of power and intelligence. Obviously he was nowhere near as powerful or as wise as the great Kain Kenise, but still far more powerful then Jago. He wasn't very fond of Kratos' plans and tactics, but it was not his place to say anything. Jago had always lived a life of servitude towards the Kenise family, and would die in doing so as well.

He hesitatingly took his first step up the stairs...

* * * * *

As Jago entered the vast throne room, he noticed Kratos sitting by the window facing towards the west, silently drinking a glass of red wine. The ever-staring body of Kain Kenise sat silently across from Kratos. A full glass of red wine sat in front of the corpse-like king atop the wooden table. The sight somewhat sickened Jago, though he kept his comments to himself. "My Lord." Jago kneeled respectfully as Kratos remained sipping his wine to himself.

"You've knews of my son's allies, I presume?" Asked Kratos, still gazing out the window. Jago, still kneeling, nodded his head, "Yes m'lord. The leader's name is Lonewolf." Kratos' eyebrows twitched upward slightly, "Lonewolf? Never heard of him. What of his intentions?" Jago remained with his head bowed, "He plans on waging war against us alongside Kaze and Hajimajisen." He lied.

Kratos guffawed with laughter, "War..?! Hahaha! Such arrogant fools! How do they expect to beat an entire army of pure-blooded demons with a measily guild?!" Jago remained completely still, "They are exceptional warriors, m'lord. Though they cannot do much with such a miniscule number of men, I believe they would at least put up a good fight. I'd advise..."

Kratos suddenly stood up from his seat in outrage, "Who are you to 'advise' me of anything?!" He roared. Jago felt a bead of sweat flow down his forehead and drip off his brow. "Forgive my arrogance, m'lord. I chose my words wrongfully. What I meant to say was: it would be wise to proceed with caution. Seeing as how lord Kaze and lord Hajimajisen are leading them. I've no doubt your son shares the same strategic genius as his father."

Kratos stroked at his chin as he silently thought to himself. "Hmm...you prove a good point, Jago. Not only does my son share my vast intelligence and cunning, but he is also in possession of the Ring of Indoctrination." Jago nodded in agreement, "Precisely, m'lord." Kratos' eyebrows furrowed, "No doubt he will use my own magic against me. I've no choice, but to hit them with everything we got." Jago nodded, "A wise decision, m'lord." Kratos looked over at Jago, "Prepare the men for war. We advance our army in two days time. If the guild refuses to lower their arms against us, we move in for the kill. If they surrender...we kill them anyway. The kingdom of Merilith couldn't possibly risk having enemies. We must obliterate any force that rises against us." Jago stood up and bowed respectfully, then turned to leave the room.

* * * * *

It was quite obvious that Jago had a plan of his own. Knowing that Kratos would order an immediate retaliation to a war threat, Jago would finally receive the pleasure of killing worthy opponents for once. However, his ultimate goal was to find this mind controlling ring within the battle and destroy it. By doing this, the mind control spell will surely dissipate, restoring everyone to their right minds.

Jago was fortunate enough to be amongst the very few people Kratos had not used his mind control spell on. With his arrogance, Kratos believed that a mere pawn like Jago would never turn on someone who beared the Kenise's family name. In a way, Kratos was right. The way Jago saw the situation, he believed he wasn't turning on anyone. He was merely going to "raise the stakes" so to speak. Jago despises cheap magical artifacts, believing them to be forms of dishonor in a battle situation. By destroying the Ring of Indoctrination, Jago would even the match between Kratos and his brother, Kain. He didn't care what the outcome would be, as long as it's a fair fight.

As for facing the two demon princes in battle...Jago had to admit the mere thought of that excited him, but at the same time he would never kill them. He would have to somehow think of a way to destroy the ring without destroying one of the demon princes in the process. That fact annoyed him emencely. He wasn't used to sparing lives in war.

"Such a chore this has all turned out to be..." Sighed Jago as he walked down the stairs. He headed toward his chambers to write a letter to Lonewolf, warning him of the war to come. Jago wanted these new warriors to be ready for Merilith's army. After all, it wouldn't be a fair fight otherwise...

Chapter 24: The Wandering Traveler

A soft knock could be heard coming from the guild's front door. No one could hear the soft noise as everyone was in their dormitories except one. Violet scurried over to the collosal door. She pondered to herself how she would reach the door knob. First she stretched out her tiny hand as far as she could, but got nowhere. She then attempted jumping up and down, still nowehere near the knob. She then realized that the door was already unlocked.

"Oh! Come in!" She shouted at the door. The door's knob twisted and the door slowly began to creak inward, Violet had to get out of the way as the massive door swung toward her. Once she was in a safe distance, she looked up to see who was standing at the door. Her tiny robotic eyes widened at what she saw before her.

There stood a hooded man, clad in white robes with a closed baby blue cloth vest, holding an unconcious Lonewolf. Just behind him, Violet could see the floating unconscious bodies of Majik and Aerial. "Master!" She called out as she scurried over to the giant stranger's foot. She began thumping her tiny fists on the stranger's brown boot, "What did you do to master Lonewolf?!" She cried out angrily.

The hooded stranger stood looking down at the strange little robotic girl. He silently wondered what she was, "A fairy, maybe..?" No, that couldn't be it, she had no wings. He shrugged to himself and walked over to the nearest couch within the lounge, completely ignoring Violet's shouts of anger. He figured he came to the right place since that little 6-inch person thing knew who the unconscious man was. He used his magic to bring in the unconcious bodies of Lonewolf's friends and set them down in two other couches. He walked over to the fireplace and began making a fire.

"Can't you hear me?! I demand to know what you have done to this one's master! Is he...dead..?" Violet slowly turned to look at her masters unmoving body and silently hoped that that wasn't the case. The stranger took off his hood as he finally made a fire, illuminating the dark room. "No." He said in response as he stood up. "He's just unconcious. The one who's dead is that guy over there." He pointed at Aerial's now pale body. Violet looked at Aerial, "Oh no no no no noo...this is not good! This is not good at all!" She began to climb up the couch Lonewolf was laying on and got up onto his chest. She suddenly fell onto her bottom as she was taken aback by what she saw.

A very large scar lay diagonally across her master's face, beginning from just above his right eyebrow and ending in the middle of his left cheek. The scar wasn't bleeding, but it was still a pinkish color as the outer skin was teared off from it. "Master!" She rushed to Lonewolf's aid and began to examine his scar. "This one believes this scar was created by a sharp blade of some kind..." She looked over at the stranger again, taking note that all he had on him was a golden staff.

"Yeah, I didn't do it." Stated the stranger, noticing the 6-inch girl examining him. He took a seat near the fire, "Are you the only one here?" He asked suddenly. Violet shook her head, "No..the dragoons..." She perked her head up slightly, "Oh! I must alert them of this atrocity! Excuse me!" She bowed respectfully to the stranger, her lockes of violet hair fell over her shoulders, then scurried off of Lonewolf and the couch and headed up stairs, climbing one step at a time.

After a few moments, an audible squeaky voice could be heard coming from throughout the entire building:

"Attention all dragoons! Majik Mason, Aerial Funichelo and Master Lonewolf are all hurt! Please report to the guild's lounge immediately!"

* * * * *

After a few minutes, all of the dragoons rushed to the lounge. They surrounded Lonewolf and the bodies of his friends, forming a large circle around the couches and the fireplace. There must've been a good 30-40 people in the room at the time. Some sitting on the stairs, some standing by the bar, they were all over the place. Violet was already standing atop the lounge's coffee table as she looked at all the men and women.

Hajimate stepped forward out from the group as he yawned audibly, "What's goin on, Violet?" He asked the little robot, then noticed Lonewolf and the others sprawled across the couches. "Woah...what happened here?" If Violet could cry, she'd have tears streaming down her cheeks right about now, "Master Lonewolf, Majik and Aerial were all attacked in the forest to the east. This man here saved them and brought them here." Hajimate's eyebrows furrowed, "Attacked? By whom?"

"You're kind." Stated the stranger. Hajimate's upper lip curled, "Hmph. I didn't catch your name." He said derisively. The stranger nodded and smiled, his green eyes flashing from the light coming from the fireplace. "My name is Angelus Domini." Hajimate's eyebrow lifted at the mention of the man's name. "Angelus Domini, huh? Doesn't that mean 'Angel Lord' in latin? You sure don't look the part." He said, studying the man. "Heh, well my parents had a creative mind. You're right though, I'm no angel. Just a regular, everyday vagabond." Hajimate snorted, "Whatever.."

"Who attacked them?" Kaze suddenly stepped out from the crowd of dragoons and stood beside his cousin. Angelus looked up at Kaze, "Some demons clad in black armor. I caught the leader's name just before they fled from my attack; Jago." Hajimate and Kaze both looked at each other, then back at the man. "I take it you know him." They both nodded slowly.

Just then Lonewolf's eyes fluttered open. "Ugh.." He tried to sit up, but the pain in his head forced him back to lying down. "Master!" Violet hopped off the coffee table and onto the couch. She climbed onto her master's chest and smiled at him as he smiled back, "Hi, Violet." He said with a hoarse voice. He noticed all the dragoons standing around him. "What's going on..?" He asked, then winced at the sudden pain coming from his scar. He reached up and felt the gash, a sudden rush of memories filled his mind, "Aerial!" He called out.

"He's dead." Stated Angelus informingly. Lonewolf felt his heart sink at that fact. His friend was killed in cold blood right before his very eyes. He felt his right fist clentch tightly. "Who..?" He asked suddenly, looking over at the man in white robes. "His name is Angelus. He brought you here along with Majik and Aerial." Stated Hajimate in response, already knowing what Lonewolf was about to ask.

Lonewolf fell silent, taking a moment to make a mental note of the man's name. "That man who attacked us..." He began, "...he was a demon. He was wearing a red and gold tasset that had the picture of a black head with horns on it." Kaze nodded, "The royal insignia. You were attacked by the demon general, Jago." Lonewolf looked away, "Jago..." He took a moment to remember the name of the man who killed his friend. "Do you remember what he told you?" Asked Kaze.

Lonewolf nodded, "Yeah...how could I forget?" He said cynically, "He killed Aerial as a message to you and gave me this scar as a message to me." Kaze nodded, "A message of war...or that's how Jago puts it at least." Lonewolf looked up at Kaze, "What?" Kaze looked down at Lonewolf, then looked away as he began walking toward the fireplace, "That is how my father declares war against others. He makes his soldiers kill someone from the opposite side. Usually it's someone weak, like a woman or a child, or in this case the friend of the leader. It seems my father has found out where I've been hiding and now wishes to go to war with us."

Lonewolf grabbed Violet from his chest and placed her atop the coffee table as he sat up, ignoring the pain in his head, "What the hell are you talking about?! You came to me!" Kaze looked away, "Apparently my father thinks you're protecting me with your guild." Hajimate suddenly lurched forward, "I knew it!!" He grabbed onto Kaze's neck and began choking him as he forced him to his knees. "You ******** traitor! You lead him to us!"

"Stop it Haj!" Lonewolf suddenly called out. He shot a small fireball in Hajimate's direction, exploding on his chest and causing him to step back a few steps. As he was knocked back, a few of the rookie dragoons grabbed onto his arms and held him fast. Kaze grabbed onto his own neck as he gasped for air.

"The attack on the guild was only a matter of time." Stated Lone. "I just didn't expect it to be this soon..." He said sadly. Hajimate spat in Kaze's direction, "You can blame that on daddy's-little-demon over there!" Kaze lowered his head in shame. Lonewolf looked over at Kaze, "Did you know you were being followed?" He asked. Kaze shook his head slowly.

"Bull s**t!" Cried out Hajimate, still being held down by the dragoons. Lonewolf looked over at Hajimate, then back at Kaze, "Whatever the case, we can't just sit around here pointing fingers at each other. Kratos has declared war against Lonewolf's Dragoons. It won't be long before thousands of pure-blooded demons stand at our doorstep. So we need to stop fighting amongst ourselves and come up with some kind of plan to beat them!"

Hajimate lifted an eyebrow, "Oh yeah? And how the hell do you propose we'll be able to defeat an entire army with this small handful of warriors? Face it, Lone. We're dead." Lonewolf lowered his head. After all, Hajimate did have a good point. They only had maybe thirty to forty men at the most, Kratos had an entire army of powerful demons. There was no way they would be able to recruit enough members before Kratos advanced his army.

"I can help." Suddenly, a familiar female voice chimed in from within the large group of dragoons. Everyone stepped aside, revealing Pana Sule who stood in the middle of all of them. Everyone was silent, somewhat surprised at the blue haired girl's proposal. "How..?" Lonewolf asked, finally breaking the silence within the room. Pana stepped forward slowly towards the couch Lonewolf was sitting on.

"My real name is Pana Sulia." She said as she looked over at Hajimate. Both, Hajimate and Kaze's eyes widened in surprise at the mention of Pana's last name. Lonewolf nodded, understanding what she was telling him, "So...you're from the Sulia clan of demons that Hajimate had mentioned before." Pana nodded at Lonewolf. "Not only that..." added Hajimate, "But she bears the clan name, meaning she's..." Pana finished his sentence, "The princess of the Sulia clan." Everyone stared in wonder.

Lonewolf smiled to himself. So, the mysterious blue haired girl finally reveals her true identity. "Wait." He began, "I thought the Sulia clan derived only on peace." Pana nodded, "Yes, we are in fact a peaceful clan. However, after learning of what has been going on within the Kenise clan, I can tell my parents of it and they might consider helping us stop Kratos." She said hopefully. Lonewolf looked over at Hajimate, then at Kaze. They both nodded at him. He looked back at Pana, "I suppose we have no other choice. Try to get a hold of your parents as soon as possible and see if they can ally with us to fight against Kratos' army." Pana nodded and ran back to her dorm room to prepare for the trip. "Tomorrow, we will split up and try to recruit as many people as we can find to aid us in this war." The dragoons nodded in agreement as they began conversing amongst themselves.

"If I may..." Angelus' voice chimed in. "I believe I need a room to stay in."

* * * * *

The following morning, the dragoons held a funeral for Aerial. Burying him in the courtyard amongst the beautiful garden. Everyone surrounded the grave respectfully. The wind changed slightly as it blew the morning dew away from the leaves of the mini-jacaranda trees. Some cried, some kept their sobs to themselves. Lonewolf stepped forward, holding Aerial's dagger in his right hand. He just stood looking down at the dirt where they buried him. He never realized how close of a friend Aerial was, until his demise. He then suddenly stabbed the earth with Aerial's dagger. Sticking it right above Aerial's grave.

Lonewolf silently vowed to avenge the death of his former best friend.

Chapter 25: Preparations

After the funeral, Lonewolf left the grave and headed back upstairs to his office to collect his thoughts. Just as he entered his room, Sally, the carrier pigeon landed on his balcony's rails. Lonewolf walked over to the balcony and opened the large glass door to let Sally in. Just as he opened the glass door, Sally flew into his office and obediently landed atop his desk, a small, rolled up paper could be seen strapped onto her foot. Lonewolf sighed as he walked over to the bird, "What is it now..?" He took the message, unraveled it, and began to read silently:

Dear Lonewolf,

Come to my workshop as quickly as possible! I believe I've encountered yet another breakthrough! Oh, and bring Violet with you please. I would very much like to see how she's doing after these past couple of days.

~Bogey Baglebottom

After reading the message, Lonewolf couldn't help but smile to himself. After all the chaotic events that have been happening recently, it was nice to hear from Bogey again. He dressed in his usual attire, strapped on his weapons and walked over to the inter-com on his desk.

"Greetings everyone. I know how everyone must be feeling now after the loss of a fellow member of the guild. However, first thing is first, we must split up and begin searching for more members and work on building our army. As most of you already know, I was informed by Pana that she may be able to get the Sulia clan to aid us in this battle. Hajimate and Kaze, you two will accompany her to speak with her tribe. As for the rest of you, I want you all to divide yourselves into separate groups and begin a search of the island. Try to find anyone who is willing to help us end Kratos' tyranny. I want you all to be extremely careful, however...I don't want anymore deaths. Thank you for your support, and good luck."

Lonewolf took his finger off the inter-com's button and made his way downstairs. It seemed his announcement had a dramatic effect on the members as he saw everyone moving about, organizing themselves into small groups. Lonewolf nodded in satisfaction and made his way over to the bar. Now that Aerial was gone, Violet had taken the liberty of handling everyone's drinks...however, due to her size this proved to be quite the difficult task. Nevertheless, as Lone approached the bar he was greeted with a wide smile from the 6-inch girl. "Greetings Master!" She chimed as she bowed her head low, her little hands clasped behind her back. "What will you be having?"

Lonewolf smiled at the cute display, "Heh...I need you to accompany me, Violet. We are going to visit your creator." Violet seemed genuinely upset by this news, "Does Master Lonewolf not want Violet anymore..?" She looked like she was on the verge of crying...if she could cry, that is. Lonewolf, surprised by this response, shook his head immediately, "No no no no! That's not it at all! I had received a message on a new breakthrough that Bogey has invented, and he just wants to check up on you is all. I'm not giving you away, Violet, don't worry." Violet seemed relieved by this and let out a little sigh. "Whew.." She nodded and walked over to the edge of the bar table and lifted her hands up, like a child offering for a parent to pick her up. Lonewolf smiled and picked her up and placed her atop his right shoulder. He made his way for the front door.

"Where are you going?" A familiar voice asked Lonewolf as he neared the door. Lone turned to regard Hajimate, who had a curious look on his face. "Out." Lonewolf stated simply, then turned to walk out the door. "You're not...abandoning the guild, are you?" Lonewolf didn't bother to turn around this time as he opened the front door. "Of course not. I've a few errands to attend to in Cliffside Village." Hajimate nodded "Oh ok...good. Cause if you were abandoning us, I would've hunted you down and killed you myself." He smiled malevolently. Lonewolf couldn't help, but feel a sense of unease as he left the guild, shutting the door behind him. "He's a scary man..." chimed Violet, looking genuinely fearful. "I couldn't agree more, Violet. Perhaps we'll get used to him over time..?" Violet shrugged, "Perhaps for Master...but this one will always think that man is scary." Lonewolf chuckled lightly as he walked down the path leading to Cliffside Village.

Meanwhile, within the guild's training room, a disheveled Majik trained vigorously against 3 other dragoon members. "C'mon!" He taunted as he held his ground, his large blade held with two hands before him. The three dragoons positioned themselves so one was just in front of Majik, whereas the other two flanked his sides. The two at Majik's sides wielded lances, whereas the one standing before Majik wielded a basic shortsword and shield. "I ain't got all day, damnit! Attack me!!"

Just as Majik said this, the dragoon on his left performed a sweep attack with his lance, aiming for the back of Majik's knees. Majik hopped into the air, however the dragoon at his right attempted to swat Majik out of the air with his lance. Majik landed back on the floor and quickly ducked as he spun and sliced the right dragoon's lance in two. The dragoon on his left attempted to pierce Majik's back, but Majik, without looking behind him, caught the lance with his left arm and held the lance hard. The dragoon tried to shake him free, to no avail. Majik used the flames within him to envelope the lance and burn the unsuspecting dragoon's hands. Yelping in pain, the dragoon forfeited the lance and began blowing on his burnt hands.

Just then, the dragoon with the shortsword swung down on Majik, but Majik dropped the lance and quickly side-stepped the attack, just before it connected. He swung his large blade horizontally at the bold dragoon, who in turn blocked the attack with his shield, stumbling a few steps back from the force. The two remained staring at each other for a few moments...Majik smiled a familiar mischievous grin. "Is that all ya got?" The other two dragoons who lost their lances got up and walked towards the sides of the training room, admitting defeat and watching patiently as Majik fought the last remaining dragoon.

Majik swung his blade around in a sweeping motion, aiming for the last dragoon's legs, who hopped over the attack, but timed his hop so that he'd land atop Majik's blade, pinning it to the ground. "Why you..!" Majik's curse was interrupted by a backhand swing of the other dragoon's shield, smacking Majik across the face, cutting his lip slightly. Majik rolled along the ground to recover just in time to side-step a thrust attack from the dragoon's shortsword. "Furious Flame!" He yelled as he held out his palm, firing a rather large fireball in the unsuspecting dragoon's direction. The dragoon held up his shield and blocked the magical attack, then pressed forward, holding his shield before him as he slowly made his way closer towards Majik.

"Grrr!" Fed up, Majik was about to launch another fireball attack, but then remembered Lonewolf's advice on patience. He swallowed hard and waited for his opponent to get close. Just as the dragoon got close enough for a horizontal swing of his blade, Majik ducked under the attack and caught the dragoon's sword-wielding arm and wrenched it downward, pulling the dragoon down to the ground and landing on his back. Majik tore the sword from the dragoon's grip and hopped back a step as the dragoon attempted to swipe at his legs with his shield. The dragoon got back to his feet and armed only with his shield now, attempted to swing wildly, spinning like a deadly top in Majik's direction. Majik continued back-stepping as he ducked and hopped over his opponent's wild swings, waiting for an opening. However, he forgot about his greatsword which had been sprawled across the floor the whole time. Not seeing his original blade as he back pedaled from his opponent, Majik trips over it and lands flat on his butt, dropping the shortsword a couple of feet behind where he fell. The dragoon roared triumphantly as he lifted his shield into the air, about to bring it's sharp edge down on Majik.

Majik then rolled backwards, grabbing the dropped blade as he rolled back up and held the blade up at the dragoon's heart. "I win." He stated with a mischievous grin. Defeated, the dragoon dropped the shield to the ground. He nodded respectfully at Majik, "Good going, Majik. You've improved a lot over night." the dragoon held out his hand and helped Majik up to his feet. "Thanks, Derek. You're awesome at this too." He returned Derek's respectful nod and shook his hand. The other two dragoons on the sidelines clapped, then sighed heavily. "Are we done now?? We've been at this all night!" said one of the two dragoons. "Yeah, I'm dead tired..." said the other as he lowered his head.

Majik seemed annoyed by these two. "Fine. Go ahead and wash up and get some rest David. You too, Ed." The two dragoons nodded and walked towards the wash room. Ever since Majik learned of Aerial's death, he had been training vigorously in the training room with these three men. He hadn't slept a single wink since the night of Aerial's murder, adamant about bettering himself in combat, so that next time he encounters Jago, HE will be the one who finishes him. No longer obsessed with treasure, Majik was now a man who desired vengeance. Determined to beat these demons down with his friend and mentor, Lonewolf, Majik will stop at nothing to become a better fighter. Finally utilizing Lonewolf's advice in his training regime, he and Derek had become combat comrades over night.

Slightly taller then Majik, Derek was a handsome young man. With blonde, neatly spiked hair, large blue eyes, and delicate features along with a strong, athletic body, Derek had been quite the ladies' man within the guild. He was clad in the standard guild's armor, open to any member who wishes to wear it. Silver, majestic-looking armor with a dark purple tasset bearing the guild's insignia of a silver wolf howling to a white moon. Derek was the competitive type, always up for a challenge and just as willing as Majik to better himself in combat. It was only a matter of time before the two became friends, really. "Wanna go again?" Asked Derek, eagerly. "Sure." Majik grinned widely as they both got into their battle stances and readied themselves for another round.

Just outside the guild, Hajimate reluctantly joined with Pana and Kaze to prepare for their journey to the Sulia clan. They had just finished up loading Hajimate's wagon with rations as well as other necessities for the trip. Camping equipment, food, water, Hajimate's wickan magick book, etc. "You ready?" Asked Pana as she patiently sat on the passenger's side of the wagon. "What's the rush?" retorted Hajimate, "This may end up becoming a big waste of time anyway. Who's to say that your clan will help us?" He lifted a cocky eyebrow at Pana as he finished loading the equipment and sat in the driver's seat. "Regardless..." began Kaze, who was lying down in the seat behind the two of them, his seat being a little higher then theirs. "...it's still worth a shot." Hajimate glared at his cousin, who didn't return his gaze, "Who the ******** asked you?!" Kaze just sighed as he closed his eyes, his hands clasped together atop his stomache. "It'll take about half a day to get there." Said Pana, attempting to change the subject. "Yeah, whatever." grunted Hajimate as he whipped the horses, causing the wagon to move at a slow pace at first, then pick up in speed. "Not like your clan will be much help anyway...buncha half-breeds." Pana glowered hard at Hajimate's comment. After a moment she lunged forward, her right hand turned into a sharp icycle, she aimed for Hajimate's neck. A swift hand from above caught her icy hand, however, just as it was about to impale Hajimate. "Though his comments can be quite insulting, please try to ignore the derisive ones. He doesn't realize the danger his mouth can get him into." Said Kaze, still lying on his back with his eyes closed. "Hmph!" her hand returning to its original shape, Pana turned her head to the side as she crossed her arms pouting. Hajimate, with eyes wide, looked up at Kaze who was still just lying there. "You're welcome, cousin." Said Kaze nonchalantly. Hajimate's eyes went back to Pana, as if seeing her for the first time. Never in his wildest dreams did he think someone of the Sulia clan would possess such blood-lust. I better watch what I say from now on...he thought to himself. "Uh...sorry..." He said hesitatingly. "Hmph." Pana didn't even look at him. Hajimate had the feeling that this was gonna be a long trip...

*******************************************

Back in the guild's lounge, most members have split up and had already left in search of more recruits. However, two certain guild members were still present in the lobby, along with a familiar new comer. "So you're the new guy huh?" Kamikalo sat across from Angelus Domini, who was silently reading a book. "Yes." He said bluntly. "Where did ya come from?" She asked, obviously not deterred by the man's rudeness. "The forest." He stated with a hint of annoyance in his tone. "You're boring!" Kamikalo yawned audibly and walked over to Juggalo Josh Jackson, who was thoroughly enjoying the un-manned bar, drinking all the whiskey he could find. "Hey J.J! Wanna go look around the island for some new recruits?" Josh looked over at Kamikalo...he squinted his eyes, "Uhhh....shure...I don't mind helpin three love-lee young lay-dees such as joorselves...hic!" Kamikalo clapped happily, obviously not noticing Josh's serious drunken state. "Awesome! Hmm...now then. Where should we start looking..?" She pondered to herself as Josh went back to chugging down another jug of whiskey.

A low laughter could be heard behind her. "What's so funny?" Asked Kamikalo as she turned to regard Angelus. "You two are pathetic. That's what's funny." he said sardonically. Kamikalo lifted an eyebrow, "Least I'm not a guy wearing a dress." Angelus grew a bit flustered at that remark, "This is a robe you un-educated simpleton!" Kamikalo ignored his response, "...and what's with the long stick..? Is that some sort of insecurity? You gotta walk around with a 'big stick' in order to make up for a certain 'small' one?" Angelus grew a bright red color. He dropped his book and stood up, holding out his staff. "How DARE you!! This is a staff! It is a WEAPON! Jesus, how stupid are you?!" Kamikalo shrugged, "Well if you're so smart then, where can we go to recruit some more members to help us in the battle against Kratos' army?" Angelus scoffed "That's easy! Just travel north through the surrounding forest and you'll find a rather large tribe of druids there. Of course, they won't just welcome idiots like you with open arms!" Kamikalo snapped her fingers and pointed at Angelus, "A-HA! So THAT'S where you came from!"

Angelus' eyes grew wide slightly, as he realized he had just given himself away. "I...er....s**t." He grit his teeth. Kamikalo slapped him hard on the back, causing him to lurch forward violently, "Thanks for the info, Angels-r-us! Hope you packed light, cause we're going to this 'druid' place you mentioned, and you're gonna lead us there!" She smiled and winked at him. Angelus sneered at Kami, "Says who?" Just then, an audible yet familiar clicking sound could be heard behind him as he felt a small metallic object touch the back of his head. "Says me." Said Juggalo Josh Jackson as he held his rifle's barrel at the back of Angelus' head. He was standing up straight and aimed his rifle without a single wobble. When it came to guns, Josh wielded them like a pro, no matter how intoxicated he was. "Touché." Stated Angelus, defeated. "Very well. I'll show you the way." Kamikalo nodded and grabbed a nearby sack she usually uses for short trips and began preparing for the trip, filling it with food and water, etc. Josh did the same, only he packed more whiskey then anything else. Angelus just had his pouches on his belt and his staff.

The three of them stepped out of the guild and began their journey towards the forest with Angelus leading, Josh with his rifle ready, and Kamikalo skipping behind them with her sack of belongings slung over one shoulder.

Chapter 26: New Faces & New Problems

As Lonewolf entered Cliffside Village once again, he noticed something a bit different about the atmosphere. No one was giving him strange looks or shying away from him anymore as they had done when he had first visited the small village. Instead, he was greeted with smiles and the occasional wink from the younger women. Yolanda must have put in a good word for me around here, he thought to himself as he couldn't suppress a confident smile of his own.

He arrived at Bogey's doorstep and as he was about to knock, the door flung open. An excited, short-stature, older, balding man was holding the door open and had the widest smile on his face. "Lonewolf! You've arrived! Come in! Come in!" He hurriedly grabbed onto Lonewolf's wrist and tugged him indoors as he shut the door behind the surprised Lonewolf. "Bogey...you seem to be as eccentric as ever today. So what is this new 'breakthrough' you want to show me?" Bogey smiled even wider, revealing his yellow, crooked teeth. However, his smile faded once he got a good look at Lonewolf's face and the large scar that lay across it. "By the Gods, boy! What happened to your face??" Lonewolf rubbed at the, now pink, scar that started above his right brow and slid diagonally down all the way to his cheek. "Oh this...I'll tell you what happened later. Now where is this new invention of yours?" Bogey seemed to forget about Lonewolf's scar entirely after the mention of his new invention. He smiled once again, "There she is!" Boldly, he pointed a stubby finger at a yellow and white striped cat that was laying down on his coffee table. Lonewolf lifted an eyebrow, ".............soooo...you got a pet cat..? THAT'S what you were so excited to show me?"

Bogey seemed completely baffled by Lonewolf's deduction, "What?? No no no, you fool! This 'cat' is my new creation! Behold! Neko-Meww #1!" Lonewolf glanced at the lazy cat once again for a few moments...then back at Bogey, "...I don't get it." Bogey patted Lonewolf on his right thigh, obviously pitying his meager intelligence, then winked at Lone, "Watch." The little man turned to regard Neko, "Neko-Meww.." The cat's ears perked up as it stood on all fours and stretched it's legs. It turned to regard the others, but it's gaze quickly shifted to Lonewolf, it tilted it's head in curiosity as it "meowed" slightly. "...Neko, please transform." The cat nodded and suddenly began to slowly change shape. It's paws and hind legs began to take form to that of a human being's appendages, the fur on its face began to slowly sink back into it's skin as it grew larger and larger. Eventually this 'cat' began to take the shape of a very curvaceous young woman.

When the transformation was complete, Lonewolf couldn't help but blush slightly at what was before him. There, standing just a few feet away, was a beautiful young woman. She had dull blonde hair, almost beige in color, eyes that were as yellow as her fur had once been, with cat-like pupils, and baby soft skin that covered most of her body. She wore a long-sleeve, rather tight fitting shirt that was white with light green sleeves, and a blue mini skirt that hiked up quite far up her legs. However, there were a few notable differences that separated this young voluptuous woman from a regular human being...for one, she still had cat ears jutting out from each side of the top of her head, she even still had rather large cat paws and feet as well as a cat tail.

"Ta-da!" The feline woman struck a pose as her transformation was complete...however she was still standing atop Bogey's rather small coffee table and an audible cracking sound could be heard shortly thereafter. Suddenly, the table completely collapsed and Neko-Meww #1 fell backwards, off the table and on her butt. "Ow-wow-wow-wowow!!" She cried as she arched her back to rub her bottom where it hurt. Again, revealing her curvaceous structure and causing Lonewolf to blush slightly once again. "What are you looking at, Master?" Violet asked quizzically as she tilted her head, still standing atop Lone's right shoulder, "And why is Master's face turning a different color? Is Master sick?" Lonewolf cleared his throat as he regained his composure. "Ahem...er...no, Violet. I'm fine." Violet didn't seem convinced, but she held her artificial tongue as to not pry. "Oki..." She said under her breath.

Bogey smiled widely at Lonewolf, "She's a beaut, ain't she?" Lonewolf forced his eyes away from the strangely attractive cat-woman as he turned to regard Bogey, "Who...or what, is it?" He asked, genuinely curious now. Bogey pointed a stubby finger at Violet on Lone's shoulder, "I borrowed the same concept from my P.A.L. invention, except this time I made her much larger, the size of a normal human being as you can see. However, I also borrowed the whole transformation concept of a druid. I had been working on her at the same time I was working on your P.A.L...what was her name? Violet? heh, not a bad name I suppose. I would've given her a different name like..." Lonewolf seemed confused, "A druid..?" he interrupted. Bogey nodded his head, his flabby cheeks jiggling from the movement. "Yes, a druid. Nature-folk who live in the Forest of Divinity. They're known for their love of nature and most of all, their ability to transform into various animals. I made Neko-Meww #1 with the same morphing capabilities, however she can only turn into a cat...as you can see, though, her human form needs a little more 'tweaking'." Lonewolf crossed his arms as he rubbed his chin with his right hand, "Hmmm..."

Just then, Lonewolf was suddenly tackled by Bogey's new invention, knocking him flat on his back as well as flinging Violet off his shoulder in the process. "Are you my new master??" Chimed Neko as she stood on all fours just above Lonewolf and examining his face at an alarmingly close radius. Lonewolf felt his face blush again. "Um..?!" Bogey cut in, "Now now Neko, is this how I taught you to treat guests?" Neko was sniffing Lonewolf's hair as Bogey asked this. She turned to regard Bogey and shook her head slowly, "Nuuu....but..." She looked back at Lonewolf, "This man makes me feel funny inside.....warm..." Lonewolf couldn't help it as his eyes widened...his brow began to sweat a little. Bogey tried to stifle his laughter, he looked at Lonewolf. "I think she likes you, boy..." Lonewolf seemed alarmed by this, "i..is that even possible??" Bogey grew a slight reddish color as he scratched the back of his head, "Well...this one is....more 'real' then my previous invention...heh."

Lonewolf glared at Bogey as he shook his head slowly. ".....you sad, sad, perverted old man." Bogey grew a brighter red. "Nevermind that now! I wish you to take her to your guild, Lone. Unlike Violet, Neko is far more capable of helping around the guild, keeping it clean, gardening, etc. Though her human transformation isn't quite complete, having razor sharp claws may prove useful in the long run. Yes, I think she would make a nice new addition to your guild." He nodded to himself as he got lost in his muse. "Er...sure, Doc. Whatever. Now can you please get her off of me..?" Asked Lonewolf, obviously growing a bit more anxious then he previously was. Neko was sniffing Lonewolf's neck this time...a moment later a very exasperated Violet crawled atop Lonewolf's head and slapped Neko lightly on her cheek. "No touchy!" She pointed accusatingly. Neko seemed shocked by the physical violence she had received from this mini-girl. Her eyes widened a bit as they began to water. "W...why did you hit me..?" Violet held her little pointing finger firmly in the air in Neko's direction, "Neko-Meww #1 is invading Master Lonewolf's personal space and causing Master Lonewolf to grow strange skin tones due to blood rushing through his cheeks and ears, quickened heart rate, perspirating uncontrollably and causing him to emit fluctuating waves of hormonal activity as well as body heat. No touchy! Please refrain from Master Lonewolf's personal space a good 3 feet or so, so that Master Lonewolf's body can return to it's original, stable state."

Seeming a bit embarrassed, it was Neko's turn to turn a bright red. She nodded at Violet and crawled backwards, off of Lonewolf and letting him sit up. "I'm sorry..." She said shyly. Lonewolf, regaining his composure finally, smiled warmly at Neko-Meww. "It's quite alright Neko, my name is Lonewolf." He extended his right hand. Neko paused a few moments as she just stared at Lonewolf's hand, then back at Lone. Suddenly, she smiled widely and squealed as she pounced on Lonewolf again, this time hugging him with alarming tightness and squishing poor Violet in between in the process. "N..no..touch...y..." her shrill little voice can be heard from between the two. "Master Lonewolf!!" cried Neko-Meww as she squeezed tighter. "Ugh..." Lonewolf was trying his best to breathe. "That's enough Neko. Let him go." Said Bogey as he clapped his hands and began trying to wrench Neko's arms from around Lonewolf's neck. She finally let go and blushed slightly, "heehee...sorry...I'm just a little excited to have a new Master." She smiled shyly. "Understandable....I suppose." Said Lonewolf as he rubbed at his neck. "You ok, Violet?" Lonewolf picked Violet up off the ground. Her deep purple hair was a complete mess as she began pointing her little finger around the room randomly in a disorientated manner as she said: "no...touchy..." over and over.

Lonewolf lifted an eyebrow and handed Violet over to Bogey, "I think something might have broke in her...wanna check it out..?" Bogey smiled and took Violet in his hands, "Of course. Now go ahead and sit and make yourself at home. As you can see, I've made a bigger couch for my 'larger' guests, so you don't have to sit on the ground anymore." Bogey nodded in the direction of a newly made wooden couch that had cotton-filled pillows padding the seating area of it as well as the back support. Lonewolf sat down on the couch, and fidgeted slightly...it was a bit uncomfortable, but better then sitting on the floor so he didn't complain. Just as Lone sat down, Neko scurried over to Lonewolf and sat on his lap as she wrapped her paws around his head and placed her head atop his in a cuddling fashion. She began to purr slightly, "Masterrrr...." She said softly as she rubbed her bosom along the side of Lonewolf's head. Lonewolf seemed submissive at this point as he thought to himself silently...

..I suppose I can get used to this...

**************************************************

Elsewhere, on the opposite side of the island, Kamikalo, Juggalo Josh and Angelus come to a halt within the forest. "What's the hold up, Angels-r-us?" Asked Kami from the rear of the group. "We're here." He stated simply. Juggalo Josh raised an eyebrow as he saw nothing but trees and shrubbery that lied before them. "Where..?" Asked Kamikalo as she walked ahead of the group, looking left and right as she still held her near-empty sack of rations in a sack that slung over her right shoulder. "Just up ahead." Stated Angelus, again with no real emotion behind his words.

Kamikalo walked a few feet further, "I don't see anythi..." Suddenly, Kamikalo's right foot got strung up by an unseen rope on the ground, pulling her upward and knocking her on her back then lifting her high in the air at least 10 feet off the ground. She dropped the sack of rations on the ground as she was pulled skyward. Juggalo Josh didn't hesitate as he immediately readied his rifle, pointing its nose at the rope that held Kamikalo aloft. However just before he got off a shot, the barrel of his rifle got nearly sliced in half by what seemed to be some sort of metallic, hoop-blade. Baffled by the strange weapon, Josh dropped his useless gun to stare at the hoop-like blade that was lodged into his rifle's barrel. The blade surrounding the outer ring was made by steel, however the inner ring seemed to be decorated by a combination of leather and what looked like stained glass. The sort of glass you'd find on windows in a church. "What the..?" muttered Josh as he examined the weapon.

Suddenly, a black panther leaped down from a nearby tree, pouncing on Josh from the rear. "JOSH!!!" Cried Kamikalo as she helplessly watched her friend struggle for his life against the panther. Angelus just stood there, smiling at Kamikalo. "What the hell Angelus?! Get that damn animal off him!" Angelus shook his head, "No." He stated simply. "You two thought you could kidnap me and get away with it? Unknown to you two idiots, the druids are my friends. And if they were to ever see me in danger, they'd do whatever it takes to save me." He gestured at the panther who was now glowering at the helpless Juggalo Josh a mere two inches from his face. "One signal from me and you can say goodbye to Mr. J.J. here." He patted the top of the panther's head, making it purr audibly at his touch.

"You b*****d!" Kamikalo didn't know what to do...she COULD blow Angelus and the panther away where they stood with a single ki blast, but where would that leave poor Josh? No. There was nothing she could do right now. "....so what do you want from us then?" Asked Kamikalo, for once showing weakness. "Nothing." Stated Angelus simply. "What happens to you two from here on is out of my hands. You're both at the druids' mercy now. Frankly, I have nothing against you two. In fact, I even warned you two about coming here, but you didn't listen. Now it seems karma is going to have its way with you." Just then, a Jaguar appeared from a nearby shrub. It walked over to Kamikalo and looked up at her...slowly it began to change shape.

It's arms and legs took shape that of a human's appendages as it stood up straight like a man, its face changing along with it. Once the transformation was complete there stood a young boy, no older then 14 or so, staring at Kamikalo's upside down eyes. The boy had very pale sky-blue eyes, pale skin, and a mo-hawk hairstlye with hair just as blue as his eyes. He wore a crude outfit, made up of brown leather with some parts painted with some sort of neon green paint. Slung on each side of his hip were some sort of glove-blades. He sniffed Kamikalo's general direction even though she was held up much higher then where he was standing. "H..hey! Where's your manners, kid!" The boy didn't seem deterred by her words as he continued to examine her, circling her as he looked at her up and down. "A lot of meat on this one. Thank you, Angelus." The boy nodded at Angelus, who returned the gesture.

"This one looks pretty good too, Pepper..." Said the black panther. It began to change shape, revealing a young girl who looked around the same age as the boy. She had pale green pig-tailed hair, and pale green eyes. She wore rather revealing clothing, also made up of leather and was mostly painted with neon pink paint. "....but he smells funny.." She stated as she was now sitting atop Josh, her knees jabbed into Josh's gut as she put most of her weight on him. She held a very sharp, crude blade at his neck. Pepper nodded, "Okay, Paprika, let's take them home. I'm sure the elders will be pleased with these two. Our village hasn't had outsiders for supper in a long time." After the boy said this, they both nodded at each other and simultaneously head-butted Kamikalo and Josh, knocking them unconscious.

"Owie...I think I hit him too hard." Said Paprika as she rubbed her forehead. Pepper ignored his clumsy sister as he turned to regard Angelus once again, "So where will you go, Angel?" Angelus shrugged, "Well...since I'm out here again, I may as well stay with you all at your village again. Though, I dunno if I'll be staying for dinner..." Pepper smiled and nodded. "Wonderful!" He said as he put on one of his bladed gloves and began climbing the tree Kamikalo was strung onto. He climbed up to the top and sliced the rope, but before she dropped he caught the rope and gently lowered her to the floor as he made his way back down the tree. "Let us be off then." He stated as he slung the unconscious Kamikalo over his right shoulder and picked up her sack of rations with his left hand. Paprika did the same with Josh as she picked up her hoop-blade with Josh's rifle barrel still stuck on its blade. The three of them made their way northward, towards the druids' village.

**************************************************

"Ahh! There we are! Good as new!" Bogey turned Violet back on as he held her in his palm. "Oiii....where am I..?" Violet still seemed a bit disoriented. "Glad to see you're doing better, Violet. We're in your creator's house, remember?" Said Lonewolf. Violet nodded weakly, "Yes, yes...this one remembers..." She tilted her little head up and saw Neko sitting beside Lonewolf. Violet's eyes widened suddenly as she backed up a step, "Eeek!" Neko seemed a little embarrassed by Violet's reaction. "It's ok, Violet. She won't crush you again. I'll make sure of that." Lonewolf glared at Neko a little, then looked back at Violet and held out his hand beside Bogey's. Violet hesitantly walked over to Lone's palm, "This one trusts Master Lonewolf." She stated a bit reluctantly. Lonewolf smiled warmly as he placed Violet in his right vest pocket. She crawled into the pocket then a moment later plucked her little head out from it.

"Now that that's over with..." began Lonewolf, "I need to ask you something, Doc." Bogey nodded and smiled as he sat in his miniature chair, opposite of the couch Lonewolf was sitting on. "Anything, Wolf." He stated happily. "About these druids..." Began Lonewolf. Bogey shook his head disgustedly, "Savages. The lot of them." Lonewolf lifted an eyebrow, "Is that so..?" Bogey nodded, "Though most of their diet lies in fruits and vegetables of the forest...they're known for their cannibalism as well." Lonewolf's upper lip curled at the thought of eating another human being. "But....what if I were to ask them to help us defeat Kratos' army..? Do you think they would fight in order to restore freedom to the island?" Bogey shrugged, "I don't really know....but one thing is certain. Good luck in receiving admittance to their village. They're an extremely territorial race, and any outsider wandering in their backyard is potential food in their eyes." Lonewolf seemed lost in thought, "Hmmm..." Bogey lifted an eyebrow at Lonewolf. "Now don't go getting any ideas, Lone. Remember what happened last time you wandered into the forest..?"

Lonewolf winced at that remark. He had told Bogey the whole story about his scar, Aerial and his confrontation with Jago as Bogey was working on Violet, and now it seems Bogey was using that knew-found knowledge to try and talk some sense in him. It worked, Lonewolf had to admit. Wandering through the forest alone wouldn't be a good idea and there's no need for anymore casualties. "Yeah, you're right." Agreed Lonewolf, nodding soberly as he rubbed his scar gently with his right fingertips. "I don't want Master to get hurt!" Chimed Neko as she squeezed at Lonewolf's torso. "Hey!" A little voice can be heard from Lonewolf's vest pocket. Apparently Neko was squeezing Violet as well again. "Oops...sorry, Violet.." Blushed Neko. "No touchy!" Returned Violet as she hid back in the vest pocket. "Well then, I suppose it's time for me to take my leave. Thank you Bogey for inventing this....um...Neko-Meww. I bid you farewell." Lonewolf stood up and bowed his head slightly as he made his way to the door. "Wait boy, I have something for Violet..." Lonewolf stopped and turned to regard Bogey. "What is it?" Bogey held out a tiny katana blade. "It's a weapon. Even though she may not be able to do much in a fight, I figured it would be nice to at least give her SOMETHING she can defend herself with. It's custom made to fit her perfectly." Lonewolf smiled and took the tiny katana. "Thank you, Bogey. I'll be sure to give it to her later." He stuffed it into his left vest pocket then nodded to Bogey as he turned to leave again. "Be careful, Lonewolf, and let me know if you have any problems with my Neko-Meww #1 invention." Lonewolf waved his hand behind him as he opened the door, "Will do, Doc." Though he had a feeling that Neko may be a problem on her own. He held his tongue as he began out the door.

Neko obediently walked behind Lonewolf as they made their way back to the guild.

Chapter 27: Shadow of the Druids

As Lonewolf approached the guild with Neko following close behind, he noticed the corpses of the felled dragons from the day prior had been removed from the front yard of the guild. Apparently, some of the guild members have taken the liberty of disposing the garbage while Lonewolf was gone. From a distance, the guild looked gargantuan standing all alone in a large, open grass field as the sun began to set behind it. Two figures could be seen walking in the distance. One clad in the guild's generic armor that Lonewolf had custom made for his guild members, the other completely clad in black leather with a black scarf flowing behind him as he walked towards Lonewolf. "Hey Majik!" cried Lonewolf as he waved at him. Majik returned the wave as he and Derek began walking towards them. Finally they all met underneath the jacaranda tree just in front of the guild.

"Hey, Lone. Who's the chick?" Asked Majik as he stared at Neko intently. Lonewolf scratched the back of his head embarrassingly, "Well uh..." He began. Neko bowed her entire top torso respectfully, "My name is Neko-Meww #1, nice to meet you sir, Majik." Majik lifted an eyebrow as he looked over at Lonewolf, "Number one..?" Lonewolf blushed a little. "Heh...she's another one of Bogey's inventions." He stated embarrassingly. "Oh." Majik nodded, obviously understanding now.

"Excuse me, sir, but who is Bogey?" It was the young knight's turn to talk. Lonewolf looked at him as if he had just appeared out of thin air. "Oh...um...Derek..right..?" The knight nodded patiently. "Yes, sir." He seemed to be standing at attention. Lonewolf smiled warmly, "Heh, no need to be so formal, Derek. We're all family here, after all." Derek seemed a bit surprised by this remark. He seemed to loosen up a bit after a few moments, "Yes, sir." He stated respectfully. Lonewolf shook his head, still smiling, "No need to call me 'sir' either. You can call me Lonewolf if you wish." Derek nodded respectfully, "Yes, si...uh..I mean, Lonewolf." Lonewolf crossed his arms, "As for the answer to your question: Bogey Baglebottom is the man responsible for all of the strange inventions I'm sure you've seen within the guild. Inventions such as the 'air conditioner' and the 'refridgerator' which keeps our food preserved and cool." Derek's eyes widened, "This man must be a genius!" He stated, obviously awe-stricken. Lonewolf smiled at that, "Heh, yes...despite his quirkiness...he is."

"So what have you two been up to?" Asked Lonewolf, changing the subject. Majik and Derek exchanged glances, then both back at Lonewolf as they proudly stated: "Training." Lonewolf's eyebrows perked up, "Is that so? Hopefully you two have improved your fighting abilities, in that case." Majik smirked at that comment, "Just listened to an old friend's advice." He said. Lonewolf smiled and nodded in acknowledgment, then began looking around their surroundings. "Has anyone returned yet?" He asked. Derek shook his head, "No, sir Lonewolf, they have not." He stated informatively, still calling Lone "sir" despite what Lonewolf said. Majik nodded, "Yep. Ever since that guy that saved us from those demons the other day left with Kamikalo and Juggalo Josh, the guild has been pretty dead."

Lonewolf's eyebrows furrowed a bit. He was hoping to have a word with that mysterious, robed man as soon as he had gotten back from Bogey's place. "Any ideas as to where they might have gone?" He asked. Majik shrugged, "Dunno." He stated dubiously. Derek seemed lost in thought for a few moments, "Druids...." he muttered. "...I believe they mentioned something about Druids in the forest, to the north." Lonewolf's eyebrows remained furrowed. He had recalled Bogey's warning about those "savages" as he had put it. This wasn't good....not good at all.

"Prepare for departure." Stated Lonewolf with a firm nod, "We're going after them." With that, Lonewolf walked past the two dumbfounded men as he made his way through the front door of the guild, Neko following close behind.

*****************************************************

It took them a few minutes to pack a few bags with rations and a few hours to reach the foot of the forest. As the sun set and the darkness of the night began to enshroud their surroundings, Lonewolf (with Violet in his vest pocket), Majik, Derek and even Neko made their way through the Forest of Divinity. The very same "divine" forest that Aerial had lost his life in, thought Lonewolf cynically. He held a compass in his right hand as he led the group through the forest. It was the very same compass he used to use for treasure hunting and navigating the Executioner when he used to be a pirate under Captain Fernando de Vega's command. He never thought that he'd actually use this compass to search for his friends. Neko clung onto Lonewolf's left arm as she was startled by her surroundings, "I'm scared, Master!" she cried, burying her head into Lonewolf's shoulder. Lonewolf seemed surprised by Neko's reaction. Could it be possible that this "invention" could actually feel such emotions?

Perhaps this is what Bogey meant by Neko being more "real" then Violet. He thought to himself silently. He placed his right hand, which still held the compass, against one of Neko's paws as he smiled warmly at her. "It's ok, Neko. I won't let anything happen to you." He said reassuringly. Neko seemed genuinely relieved by Lonewolf's words and clung tighter to Lonewolf's arm. Lonewolf winced at the slight pain, but still pressed on, holding the compass before him once again.

"Looks like Lone's got a new girlfriend." Teased Majik from behind. "Shut up, Majik." Said Lonewolf, a hint of annoyance in his tone. He didn't bother to turn and regard Majik. Derek remained stoically silent at the rear of the group, his circular, silver shield slung onto his left arm and a silver hand-axe in his right. He was alert and seemed ready to fight anything that might jump out at them. He noticed a brown hawk flying precariously just above the trees a couple of times, but other then that, the forest was as tranquil as ever.

"We'll camp here for the night." Stated Lonewolf. They had reached a small clearing within the forest. A long, rather large log lay along one side of the clearing. It was old and cracked, most likely fell due to natural causes, but was large enough to provide a sort of barrier on one side of the clearing. Majik dropped the bags he had slung over his shoulders onto the ground and began sifting through them. After a few moments, he pulled out four sleeping bags and sprawled them across the floor. As he did this, Lonewolf (along with Neko copying him) began picking up various debris from their surroundings and placing it all in the middle of the clearing, with the help of little Violet as well. She picked up a couple of twigs here and there and dragged them to Lonewolf's pile. Derek stood watch as they slowly built a little bonfire. Lonewolf stepped back a couple of steps, held out his palm, and casted a small flame spell. The fireball engulfed the debris, instantly lighting it up into a small campfire.

They all sat and ate a few of their rations (bread, water, cheese, nuts, and some fruit) with the exception of Neko and Violet, who both didn't need any sort of sustenance. After the meal, they each grabbed their own sleeping bag and lay down atop them around the fire...except Neko, who just layed on the ground beside Lonewolf. "Neko..." Began Lonewolf, "...you're sleeping bag is over there." He pointed at the un-inhabited sleeping bag that lay across from him. Neko pouted slightly, "But...I want to sleep with you, Master!" A short, muffled chuckle can be heard nearby from Majik. Lonewolf ignored him, "That's fine, Neko, but you'll need something to sleep on. So just bring that sleeping bag and set it beside me." Neko clapped her paws together happily, "Yay!" She hopped up and skipped over to the empty sleeping bag as she sung happily: "I get to sleep with Maaassterrr, I get to sleep with Maaassterrr!"

Majik finally let out a guffaw of laughter. Lonewolf just glared at him as Neko set her bag beside Lone's just as he said and lay down next to him. She began cuddling with him, which discomforted Lonewolf at first, but he eventually submitted and closed his eyes. Derek stood up, "I'll take first watch." He stated then walked over to the side of the clearing that didn't have a log barricading it as he readied his axe and shield.

Lonewolf drifted into a deep slumber...

*****************************************************

Power....glorious power! Lonewolf could feel the unfathomable strength flow through his veins! With this sort of power he could do anything! He could have any woman he wanted, save the entire world from evil....only to rule it himself! Become a king! No...become a GOD! He could feel the flowing power within his soul slowly eat away at his sanity...but he liked it! It was a euphoric feeling! He could feel laughter welling up inside his stomache, then his chest, until finally the laughter burst out from his mouth....but...it wasn't his laughter..? This laughter sounded strangely familiar...who's was it? A mirror....he needed a mirror....there! To his right! A mirror hovered in mid air in this empty world he was in...he gazed upon it....only to be taken aback by the horrible sight within it. The gold armor...the black flowing cape...the bulging muscles...and the hair...the same dull, purple immaculate long hair that parted in the bangs. Mortamus. His lips moved slightly...what was his reflection saying? He moved in closer to listen..."Wake up." He whispered.

****************************************************

"Sir, Lonewolf. Wake up!" Derek shook Lonewolf violently. Lonewolf awoke with a start and a gasp. "You were having a nightmare, sir." Lonewolf put a sweaty palm to his moist forehead, "....right." He muttered. What the hell was that dream about? He thought to himself. Lonewolf knew that he would never think such dastardly thoughts. It was almost as if he were thinking someone else's thoughts.

His thoughts...thought Lonewolf as he gazed into the now-dying campfire. But why would he be thinking his thoughts..? Unless...he thought, Unless someone was trying to project his thoughts to me..? But who...? and why..?

"Sir!" another quick shake from Derek snapped Lonewolf out of his trance. "What? What is it, Derek?" Derek nodded his head towards the east, "I heard a noise...coming from over there. Shall I investigate?" Lonewolf nodded, a bit grateful that Derek had the decency of asking permission to investigate rather then to go gallivanting into danger by himself. He stood up slowly, as to not awaken Neko. He looked over at Majik, who was snoring now. Apparently he won't be getting up anytime soon. Lonewolf and Derek began pushing their way quietly through the brush towards the east.

As they made they're way through branches and other debris, they eventually found themselves face to face with a giant, black grizzly bear. Upon seeing them, the bear stood on two legs, letting out a loud, challenging roar. "Um...not good." Stated Lonewolf as his hand slowly eased down his right thigh, touching the handle to Captain Vega's old pistol with his fingertips. "Stay still..." Whispered Lone. Derek gulped hard and nodded slowly, "Y...yes..s..sir." The bear landed back on all fours and began rushing towards them.

Just as Lonewolf was about to draw his pistol, a wooden arrow struck the dirt between Lonewolf and the bear, followed by a young girl's voice yelling the word: "Stop!" The bear seemed to obediently back down by the stranger's command. "Who..?" Lonewolf began searching his surroundings, only to see a brown hawk fly out from a tree top. The hawk gently made its way down towards the ground.

Just before the hawk landed, it began changing shape, growing appendages and such, just as Lonewolf had seen Neko do. Once the transformation was complete, a young girl, no older then 15 or so, stood before Lonewolf and Derek. She had short, pale, purple hair with long bangs that hung to one side of her face, pale purple eyes and pale skin. She wore a rather crude navy blue tank-top that slung over her right shoulder only, revealing a little cleavage from her left side slightly. She wore a black, leather skirt and moccasin-like boots as well as leather bracers that had steel, curved blades jutting out from the sides of her forearms. She wore a quiver, slung onto her back and held her bow ready with an arrow directed at Lonewolf's head. She stood in front of the bear in a protective fashion.

"How dare you!" She cried. "All you outsiders are alike! You never have any respect towards nature! Just a bunch of...bunch of SAVAGES!!" She seemed almost on the brink of tears. Lonewolf held his hands up slowly, obviously not wanting to cause any sudden movements and giving the girl a reason to let go of the cocked arrow. "Easy..." Said Lonewolf slowly. "I meant no harm." He stated reassuringly. "Liar!" Cried the young druid, she pulled the arrow back further. "I'm not lying." Said Lonewolf, patiently. "The bear was going to attack us. I was just defendi..." The girl interrupted him, "Of course she was going to attack you! You were invading her territory and she was just defending her cubs, see?!" The girl nodded to the left. There was a small cave there, which the bear retreated to. Lonewolf nodded, "Ok. I understand that now, I did not know. We will leave this area now and bother this mother no longer." The girl held her bow fast, "You will leave this FOREST!"

Lonewolf put his hands down at his sides and just shook his head slowly. "I can't do that. You see, I'm searching for my friends...one is very short with dirty blond hair, wearing green and blue and is very loud. The other is rather silent, tall, wearing a black long coat, has dark purple, long hair and probably reeks of alcohol. Then the other.." The girl interrupted Lonewolf once again, "I know them. They were trespassing through this forest, just like you all are doing! Not only that, but they were holding Angelus Domini hostage." Lonewolf seemed shocked by that last part, "Hostage? How so?" The girl's bow didn't waver, "The tall one was holding some sort of metallic bow to his head the entire time. My cousins took your 'friends' prisoner....they are scheduled to be supper tomorrow..." The girl said that last part with a mix of sadness and disgust. Lonewolf noticed that.

"I can see you're not so enthused about that 'supper' part. Are you not a cannibal like the others?" The girl seemed taken aback by Lonewolf's dead-on perception. Her bow lowered slightly, "N..not ALL of us are cannibals, you know!" Lonewolf nodded in agreement, "I can see that. You don't quite strike me as the human-eating type." The girl's bow became raised once again, "What do YOU know about me??" Lonewolf lifted an eyebrow with a rather amused look on his face, "Well for starters....if you were gonna kill me, you would've done so already." The girl's eyes widened in surprise...he was right after all. She did not wish to kill Lonewolf or his friends...the bow lowered once more.

"What's your name, kid?" Asked Lonewolf, a warm smile crossed his lips. The girl finally submitted and lowered her bow completely. "Shadowkite." She stated, "Now who are you?" Lonewolf bowed respectfully, "Pleasure to meet you, Shadowkite. My name is Lonewolf, I'm the leader of the newly opened guild, Lonewolf's Dragoons. This is one of my members, Derek. Now that we know each other, please, I insist that you join us in our camp." Lonewolf gestured to the west, where their camp had been. Shadowkite seemed hesitant, "I...I can't!" She turned into a hawk and immediately flew into the sky. "Wait!" Lonewolf held out a hand, but it was no use. The young druid was long gone. Lonewolf heaved out a sigh, "...well? Guess we might as well head back to camp and get some sleep." Derek nodded, "Agreed." The two of them made their way back to the camp.

The sun was already beginning to rise in the distance. The silhouette of a hawk can be seen flying with unsteady direction..

Chapter 28: Seal the Deal

"Maybe outsiders aren't all THAT bad..." Thought Shadowkite as she soared through the dull blue, early morning sky. After all, Lonewolf did seem like a very kind-hearted person. It was his smile. Something about his smile caught Shadowkite off guard...although she couldn't think of any reason as to why. His smile seemed...warm...and gentle...yet intimidating in its own way, but...honest at the same time. Unlike other outsiders she has seen in the past.

Angelus Domini had brought a good impression upon her people and even taught them (including herself) how to harness their spiritual energy and use it to manipulate nature however they saw fit. He called this "Mah-jeek". However although he helped her people, he was still a very rude man by nature. Shadowkite figured all outsiders were like this. Especially when Pepper brought that outsider girl to their village who was very rude and threatened to hurt her people. Then there was the strange man who rarely said a word and smelled very very ill. Shadowkite nearly gagged at the smell that was emanating from the man. She thought the man was near death when they brought him to their village, due to the smell, but he seemed perfectly fine. She nearly retched at the thought of her people feasting on someone who smelled so....so BAD.

Still....Shadowkite couldn't quite stand it anymore. The cannibalism, that is. Although it was very rare that her people feasted on outsiders...there was something about it that just seemed so...wrong. Though she knew there was no way she could ever convince the elders of her village to change their ways all by herself. If only she had more druids on HER side....

As she stated to Lonewolf, not every druid in her village were cannibals. In fact, about a good 30-40% of the population in her village ate only fruits and vegetables of the forest and never took part in the human feasts. Also, the number of non-cannibal druids have been increasing gradually over the years. Shadowkite hoped that one day the elders would agree to ban cannibalism completely and submit to the lush, refreshing sustenance that the forest itself provides, freeing her people from the barbaric nature that has tainted their reputation for years.

"Savages." Spat Shadowkite, recalling the degrading word that outsiders use to describe her people. Oh, how she hated that word. "Savage". Her hawk beak curved slightly in a hawk's version of a grimace. If only Shadowkite had some sort of...example...to show her people that not all outsiders are bad. Perhaps that would convince more druids to join her side, overlapping the 50% gap and beyond of the non-cannibals and proving to outsiders once and for all that the druids are far more then mere "Savages"....

However, her cousins are what worried her the most. If any druids fit the description of "Savages", it would be them. Always salivating over the thought of cannibalism...those two LIVED to eat outsiders. It truly is a shame, due to the fact that they are kin and yet have completely opposite ideals. If, God forbid, this ever turns out to break into an all-out war...Shadowkite was afraid that she'd have to go up against her own cousins. She hoped that things will never come to that. Diplomacy should always come first, in her eyes. Now all she needed was an outsider charismatic enough to.....

It finally hit her. She changed the course of her flight immediately and headed back south in the direction where she had confronted the outsider who called himself "Lonewolf".

*****************************************************

Lonewolf and the others had finally awoken. Though, Lonewolf himself didn't get much sleep due to the mysterious encounter with the young druid the night prior. He stretched widely as he gazed up at the early morning sky. He looked back at the others and smiled faintly. Neko was still curled into a little ball as she purred in her sleep. Atop her head lay Violet, who was also curled in the same fashion. Lonewolf couldn't help but wonder...if they are "robots", why do they need sleep?

So very human, those two. Thought Lonewolf.

Majik was sitting by the newly made campfire, roasting a dead squirrel on a stick. He caught the poor animal earlier that morning and was practically salivating as he mercilessly engulfed the small creature in flames. Lone understood now why Shadowkite was near tears when she thought he was going to kill that bear last night. It truly is tragic to kill a living creature of this beautiful world called Earth.

He looked to his right. Derek was sitting, as stoic as ever, with his back up against a nearby tree's trunk. Axe and shield, still held firmly in his hands. Ready for anything. He notices Derek's brow perk up as he quickly shifts his head to the sky. Lonewolf follows his gaze, and sees a familiar brown hawk swooping down toward their camp. Shadowkite has returned...but why?

Her hawk cries wake up Neko, as she lazily lifts her torso up from the ground, rolling poor little Violet off her head and flinging her to the ground. Violet angrily stands herself back up as she dusts shreds of grass and dirt from her little clothes. "Why did you fling this one in her sleep?!" She demanded, but Neko's eyes were fixed on their new guest. Violet follows her gaze to see the incoming hawk miraculously transform into a young girl. "Ooh! A druid! Also known as the 'Savages of the forest'!" Surely, Bogey was responsible for implementing that information into her system.

"I'm no 'savage'." Retorted Shadowkite as she booted the cooked squirrel upward from Majik's grasp. He was completely oblivious to the young druid's arrival as he was about to take a bite from his freshly cooked breakfast, however, once Shadowkite booted the luscious meal from his grasp, causing the cooked squirrel to shoot upward and bash Majik on the nose, he then took notice in their new, uninvited guest. "WHAT THE HELL?!?!" clumsily and impatiently, Majik began fumbling around for his great sword. However, once his hand found his sword's hilt, he heard the faint "creak" sound of a bow's string being pulled. He froze immediately, then slowly shifted his head to get a better view at the intruder. Then shifted his gaze over to Lonewolf who, to his surprise, was just standing there with his arms crossed and smiling at the girl. "Can someone please tell me...what the ******** going on here?"

"Good to see you again, too...Shadowkite." Lonewolf smiled warmly at her. Near tears, Shadowkite flicked a glance over at Lonewolf, then glared back at Majik as her arrow was still fixed on him. "I should KILL him for that!" Lonewolf sighed gently, "Don't worry about him. He has always been foolish and disrespectful. I can assure you, he will not harm another animal's soul in this forest again while I am present." Majik scoffed at that last statement, "Pfft! Like HELL I would! She owes me breakfast!" He pointed angrily at Shadowkite. At that point, both Shadowkite and Lonewolf turned to Majik and simultaneously stated: "Shut up." Majik seemed as though he were about to say something again, but caught himself and thought it best to keep his mouth shut for now.

"So Shadowkite..." Lonewolf continued, "May I ask as to why you have graced us with your lovely presence, yet again?" Shadowkite blushed slightly, Lonewolf was very charming, both in his words and the way he delivers them. "I...uh..." Lonewolf tilted his head slightly, "Yes..?" he encouraged. "I....I wish to help you find your friends...but on one condition!" Lonewolf nodded, "Name it." She lowered her bow and placed her arrow back into her quiver, "I want you to help show my people that not ALL outsiders are bad. If they all understood that..." Lonewolf nodded, understanding where she was getting, "...if they understood that, then they would feel guilty about eating humans and will ultimately end the cannibalism in your people." Shadowkite nodded firmly, "It is a DISGUSTING custom! However, even diplomacy might not be enough to change their minds. Some of my people....crave...human flesh. They will be very difficult to convince." Lonewolf nodded slowly, "I will try my best." Shadowkite looked up at Lone with teary eyes, "Thank you, Lonewolf. If any outsider can do it, I believe you can. There is an...aura about you. Not necessarily human, but...I believe I can trust you." Lonewolf lifted an eyebrow to that...but figured he shouldn't bother asking. "Very well then, we have reached an agreement. Lead the way, miss." Lonewolf bowed slightly and gestured courteously to Shadowkite to lead the way. Shadowkite, blushing again, nodded and began walking a few steps to the north.

The others followed suit, eventually leading them to a large side of a nearby mountain. "This is it." She stated. Majik looked around, "This is what..? A dead end?" He asked rather rudely, still in a bad mood about his spoiled breakfast. Violet, atop Lonewolf's shoulder studied the large rocky structure before them intently. "Master...the surface of this structure is very...uncommon. Rocks do not pile like this." She stated, a bit amused. Lonewolf just lifted an eyebrow as he studied the surface, he looked over at Derek who shrugged modestly in response.

"It is called 'Mah-Jeek'. It is the sacred power of our people. Watch..." After murmuring a few incantations in a strange, yet sensual tongue, the rocks and boulders began to shift on their own, revealing a wide cavern. "This way to my village." Said Shadowkite as she continued to lead the way. Everyone followed, save Majik, who held his growling stomach, "Man I'm hungry...." He whined, as he lazily dragged his feet to follow the others.

Chapter 29: The "Creator"

As the 3 dragoons and 2 human-like "robots" followed Shadowkite through the dark cave, they all eventually arrived in a large clearing. Amidst the clearing, various huts made of rock, dirt, wood and pretty much any other substance you can think of that's found in a forest, all lay about, randomly scattered throughout the clearing. Sunlight shone down into the clearing from a hole in the cave's ceiling, which reached hundreds of feet high from where the dragoons stood. "Amazing.." Lonewolf marveled, "...a town within a mountain. How ingenious." Shadowkite nodded and smiled, "Thank you. We try our best to hide our whereabouts from outsiders like you. Thanks to Angelus, we would've never knew about 'Mah-Jeek' in the first place..."

Lonewolf's brow furrowed for a moment, then looked over at Shadowkite, "So it was Angelus who taught you all in the ways of magic. Where is he now? Is he still here?" Shadowkite shrugged, "I am not sure, he comes and goes as he pleases. I'll try to..." Interrupting Shadowkite mid-sentence were the various roars of quadruped animals, birds, reptiles, and pretty much any kind of animal you can possibly imagine. They rushed out from the various huts, some flew in from above, others crawled down from the walls, eventually surrounding Lonewolf and the others completely. Almost in unison, they all began to transform into their "human" forms", each of them holding some sort of exotic looking weapon made from materials found in the forest or in a trash bin. They all had pale features, in both skin and hair, just as Shadowkite, Paprika and Pepper had and all wore various forms of leather and cloth armor. They held their weapons firmly in the direction of the "intruders".

"Cousin!" Pepper, the pale-blue haired cannibal, pushed his way through the druids to confront his cousin, who, at the moment, he was clearly upset with. "You dare bring outsiders into our village? I hope, for your sake, they are apart of our feast tonight..." Just then, Paprika, the pale-green haired cannibal, pushed her way through the crowd, "...or else you'll be in BIG trouble...and we'll just eat them anyway." As she said that last part, her neck craned in Lonewolf's direction, her delicate nose twitching slightly as she clearly sniffed the air in Lone's general direction. "This one smells especially nice..." she added as she shot a coy smile in Lonewolf's direction. Lonewolf just glared at her in response.

Suddenly, Violet pulled herself from the back of Lonewolf's vest(where she was hiding the whole time since the druids surrounded them) and crawled up on his shoulder. Once she stood at full 6-inch height, she pointed vehemently at the perplexed Paprika as she adamantly stated: "NOO TOUCHY!!" All the druids were taken aback by the amazingly short stature of Violet.

"What is that..?"

"Who..?"

"Is it a fairy?"

"The elders would know!"

"Yes! The elders! Take them to the elders!"

"Look at this one, she has feline ears, paws, feet and even a tail, yet she is human..?"

Various whispers and murmurs spread throughout the confused druids. Lonewolf and the others just watched them, ready to strike if they were to "pounce". Shadowkite just watched helplessly as the druids disarmed and poked and prodded Lonewolf and the others in the direction of the elders' house. "Hey! Watch where you're stickin' that thing!" cried Majik as he grit his teeth, sparks of an incoming fire spell began to flash lightly around one of his fists, but quickly dissipated as Lone swiftly caught a hold of Majik's forearm. Majik looked over at Lonewolf, only to receive a look of disapproval and a firm shake of the head. Majik grit his teeth harder, "Tch...whatever!" He pulled away from Lone's grasp and continued to walk in the direction they were being led. "I'm scared, Master!" cried Neko as she desperately hugged Lonewolf's left arm, her supple breasts squishing against his forearm. Lonewolf couldn't help, but blush slightly as he tried his best to keep looking forward. "I..it'll be alright, Neko." He stated embarrassingly. "Are you alright, Master?" Asked Violet as she placed a tiny palm against the right side of Lone's forehead. "Your body temperature had suddenly risen drastically..." Lonewolf gave Violet a wry smile, "I'm fine, Violet. Don't worry." Violet plopped back down on Lone's shoulder, "Okies..." She stated, apparently not believing Lonewolf. Derek remained as stoic as ever, though stripped of his weapons, he was still ready to fight to the death for Lonewolf, who he had a great deal of respect for. If Lone were to give him the word, he would attack without hesitation.

Finally reaching a large hut in the back, made of boulders, fused with mud and had a wooden roof, made of various branches, leaves, all topped with bright green moss. The druids urged Lone and the others to wait at the footsteps of the hut, about ten feet from the entrance. Just then, Pepper and Paprika walked up the steps, into the hut. As they pushed aside the leather flap that was supposed to be a door, Lone noticed a tied and gagged Kamikalo and Juggalo Josh inside. Kamikalo caught a glance at Lone and he saw as her eyes widened in surprise, then lighten in hope. After a few moments, Pepper and Paprika emerged from the hut. Pepper sidled over to the right of the entrance as Paprika sidled to the left, both holding their weapons readily as if to guard something.

Just then, a rather old looking gray wolf, a beige lioness, and a black warthog, all emerged from the hut. They studied Lonewolf and the others intently, then began their transformation. The wolf turned into an aged old man with pale gray, long, web-like, hair and pale skin, with pale blue eyes. He wore a white robe. The lioness turned into a young, beautiful, voluptuous woman with pale beige hair, which was tied into a long ponytail that ran down the length of her back, like a tail. She had pale beige eyes and wore a light brown robe, which accented her curves all the more. The warthog transformed into a short, portly, middle-aged man with pale red bowl-cut hair, pale red eyes with black slitted pupils and a black robe. He licked his lips with a forked tongue, excitedly, as he stared at the outsiders intently. After the transformations, another familiar figure stood in the shadows behind them. Lone recognized the silhouette as none other then Angelus, himself. Lonewolf's eyes squinted slightly in silent rage.

"These outsiders look even more delicious then the other two!" Said the portly druid as he clasped his hands greedily and impatiently. "Control yourself, Jorgemund." Stated the old man, in an alarmingly patient manner. "First, we must try and see who exactly these outsiders are." He continued. The sultry woman scoffed, "Hmph! They look like mere pirates to me, Rastus. Except that one in the silver armor, looks like some sort of knight, and...." Her eyes widened in outrage when she saw Neko. "YOU!" She pointed an outraged finger at her, "HOW DARE YOU MOCK MY FELINE HERITAGE WITH THAT FAKE GETUP!" She lifted her palm to the air as she summoned tree roots from the earth, which crept closer and closer to Neko, who cowered into Lonewolf's arms. "EEK! Help me, Master!" Neko immediately transformed into her cat form and leaped into Lonewolf's arms as he held her and placed his back to the vines, as a futile attempt to keep her safe. He shut his eyes firmly, awaiting the piercing/whipping onslaught of the vines...but nothing happened. When Lonewolf opened his eyes and looked back at the elders, he saw the old man, Rastus, as the woman called him, holding the outraged woman's forearm, just as Lonewolf had done to Majik not too long ago. "Calm yourself, Celes." Stated the old man, obviously not noticing the rest of the druids, including Celes just staring at what was in Lonewolf's arms in awe. "She is a druid!" cried Celes as she pointed at Neko, who was now a yellow and white striped cat. "What?!" His patient demeanor now diminished, Rastus veered in the direction of Lonewolf.

"What is the meaning of this?! Why do you have a fellow druid with you?! And why did she call you 'Master'?! Answer me, boy! Or I'll have you boiled alive!" As if to emphasis the elder's threat, several crude spears and curved weapons were lifted closer to Lonewolf and the others. "Uh...well..." began Lonewolf, obviously at a loss for words, "She...she was actually created..." he stated honestly. In response to what Lone said, every druid in the vicinity as well as the elders themselves, gasped slightly and began whispering amongst themselves. "Created you say?" Asked Rastus, who was apparently amazed by this fact. "You mean to say....that you know the 'Creator'?" He asked.

Just then, Lonewolf could hear Majik try desperately to stifle a laugh. Lonewolf shot him a glance, which shut him up instantly. Obviously knowing where this was headed, Lonewolf thought it best to indulge the druids' naivete. "As a matter of fact...I do." More whispers and gasps of awe from all around them. Even Shadowkite, who was sitting atop a branch of a tree not too far away, gasped in surprise. She knew something was funny about Lonewolf, but never in her wildest dreams did she think...

"He is a messenger of the 'Creator'! We must heed his words or the 'Creator' will bring destruction upon us all!" cried a random druid, which was abruptly agreed upon by several druids thereafter. The whispers and murmurs of the crowd grew louder and louder, "Enough!" cried Rastus, bringing the crowd to an instant hush. "Now..." He looked back at Lonewolf, "What is your name, young one?"

"Lonewolf" stated Lone, proudly. Rastus lifted an eyebrow, "Interesting name...very well then, Sir Lonewolf, if you truly are a 'messenger of the Creator', then what message do you bring us?" As if Lonewolf had rehearsed the entire speech the day prior, he began confidently: "The Creator frowns upon the cannibalism of 'outsiders'. He asked me, personally, to come to your village and order that you release the two outsiders you hold captive within your hut." Jorgemund's eyes widened as he quickly looked up at Rastus, "How did he know about the prisoners?!" Rastus just did a wave gesture in Jorgemund's direction to silence him. "Not only that.." continued Lonewolf, "But he also orders that from now on, there will be no more cannibalism within your tribe. From this day foreword, all druids must nourish themselves with the food from mother nature, herself." Pepper and Paprika, along with several other druids, including the elders, frowned at that order. Jorgemund was the first to speak against this, "Preposterous! One cannot possibly survive without meat!"

Lonewolf calmly countered this statement, "Do animals not feed off each other? Wolves and lions and various other carnivorous animals feed off deer and the like. Bears feed off fish and pretty much any other smaller animal. Wildcats feed off birds, birds feed off mice, as do snakes. It is simply, the way of life. However, it is encouraged that you do not constantly feed off the animals of the forest. Fruits and vegetables are an abundance of the forest and provide the nourishment you all need to get by. If you do not like this, you can take it up with the creator yourself."

That last part seemed to strike fear into the druids. After a long silence, Rastus finally spoke, "You prove a valid point, young messenger. You are definitely...different than any other outsider I've seen. Something about you seems almost supernatural, as if not even human."

First Shadowkite, and now this old geezer...what is up with them? I'm human...aren't I..? Lonewolf remained silent as he kept his confused thoughts to himself. He just nodded in response.

"On behalf of my people...I believe you. Release the prisoners." Rastus waved his hand. Pepper and Paprika, still frowning, reluctantly headed back inside the hut to cut Kamikalo and Juggalo Josh free. After a few moments, a loud, familiar battle cry filled the air, "HIIIII-YAAAAHHH!" Pepper and Paprika flew out the entrance, landing on their backs. They both scurried to their feet and backed away as a very irritated Kamikalo emerged from the hut. She boldly walked pass the elders and stood in front of Lonewolf and the others, "Hey there, Wolfy!" she stated in her normal, cheerful manner. "Took ya long enough! What's with the p***y-cat?" She lifted an eyebrow at Neko. "Er..." Lonewolf didn't really know how to respond to that, "...I'll tell you later." Kamikalo shrugged, "Okie-dokey, Wolfy. So we gonna bust some heads or what?" She asked as she grinned at the elders intently, cracking her knuckles. "No." said Lonewolf. Juggalo Josh finally emerged from the entrance. The elders quickly made more then enough room for Josh to get by as they wrinkled their nose in disgust. "I think that one is dying..." said Celes. Juggalo Josh just looked up at Lonewolf and the others through his long dark purple bangs, and gave them a dubious grin. "About time...I could use some whiskey." He said almost excitedly. Lonewolf had never heard that kind of tone in Josh's voice before. It was a bit unnerving.

"Our weapons?" Lonewolf asked as he looked up at Rastus. Rastus nodded, and the druids returned everyone's weapons. "Very well then. Heed my words, people of the Creator, I shall now return home with my friends. If you'll excuse me..." Just as Lonewolf and the others started to leave, an all too familiar voice spoke up from the shadows of the elders...

"If I may, all-knowing one..." Angelus emerged from behind the elders, finally revealing his face to the dragoons. Lonewolf grit his teeth...after all that, Angelus is going to mess things up for them it seems.

This may turn into an all out battle...but there are hundreds of them and only a handful of us, we can't win at these odds... Lonewolf's mind raced for a possible escape route. He could use his teleportation spell, but he wasn't sure if he could teleport more then 2 people with that spell...what to do..?

"What is it Angelus..?" Asked Rastus, a bit surprised by the young mage's sudden interest in the conversation. Lonewolf readied an offensive spell on his lips....

"Lonewolf here forgot to mention one thing...something of vast importance." Continued Angelus. "Well out with it, then. What is it?" Asked Rastus. Angelus' gaze reached Lone's glare. They stared into each others eyes for a moment...."Lonewolf's army is under attack." He stated flatly. Lonewolf's eyes widened slightly in surprise.

He didn't rat us out..? Thought Lonewolf. Amusing...better keep on guard for any tricks though..

"What?! The messenger of our Creator's army is under siege?! Who dares?!" Rastus' face flushed a light red, obviously outraged by this news. "The Kenise clan." Stated Angelus flatly. Celes' eyes widened in fear, "The pure-blooded demons?? We wouldn't stand a chance against..." Rastus waved his hand at her, "If we have the Creator on our side, we'd stand a chance against anyone, my dear." he assured her. He looked back at Angelus, "When do they plan on attacking?" He asked patiently. "Today." He stated. The news surprised, both, Rastus and Lonewolf and the others. "Today??" Both Rastus and Lonewolf asked simultaneously.

Angelus began digging for something within his robe. After a few moments, he pulls out a rolled up note. "I apprehended this message from one of the Kenise clan's messengers while I was staying here in the druid's village. He was headed in the direction of the guild, which sparked my curiosity. After killing him, I found this note on him, addressed to you...Lonewolf." He tossed the rolled note to Lonewolf, who caught it, rolled it open and began to scan through it. "It's from...him." Lonewolf practically hissed the word "him" with utmost hatred in his voice. "Who?" asked Majik, genuinely curious. Lonewolf looked over at Majik slowly, his face carved into a grimace of anger and resentment. "Jago." He spat. Majik's eyes widened at first, then his brows furrowed hard in a furious rage. "I'LL KILL THAT SONNAVA b***h!!!" He cried, unhinging his greatsword from his back and pushing pass all the druids as he ran back through the cave entrance. "Majik, Wait!" Lonewolf cried out behind him, but it was too late...he was gone. "Shall I retrieve him, sir?" Asked Derek, readying himself for action. "No...let him be." responded Lonewolf, submitting to Majik's uncontrollable emotions. "Very well, sir." Derek nodded.

"We need to return to the guild right away and assemble the dragoons." Lonewolf stated adamantly. Rastus nodded, "We shall be right behind you, Lonewolf. Druids! Prepare for battle!" With a nod of acknowledgment and mutual trust, Lonewolf and Rastus proceeded with immediate action with their men. "Let's head back to the guild." Lonewolf gestured Kamikalo and the others to follow. They all ran ahead of Lone as he stopped to look back at Angelus. After just staring at each other for a few moments, Lonewolf nodded. Angelus returned the nod, a silent gesture of "thanks" exchanged between the two. Lonewolf then turned and headed back to the entrance.

Suddenly, before he exited, Shadowkite stood by the exit, blocking Lone's path. "Take me with you." She said flatly. Lonewolf seemed confused, "Isn't your place with your people?" He asked. Shadowkite shook her head, "I will always be a druid, but I want to fight by your side. I know you aren't really the 'Creator's' messenger, but you did what I asked and convinced my people to change their cannibalistic ways. For that, I am eternally grateful. I want to be by your side when the battle begins and want to protect you with my life. I do not know why, but I feel as though my place is with you and your...dragoons. Almost as if it was meant to be. Please...let me fight with you!" Lonewolf smiled the same warm, mischievous smile he learned so well from his master, Locke. "Very well. You are welcome to fight with us, Shadowkite. Let's go." Shadowkite's eyes lit up the moment Lone said that she could fight with the dragoons, she nodded firmly, trying to stifle her glee, then followed Lonewolf back to the guild.

****************************************************

Not too far from the druids' hidden village, the Kenise clan begins their march towards Lonewolf's Dragoons. Jago, leading the front lines of the hypnotized army. Kratos at the very rear of the army. Jago...the only soldier with a conscience...however that conscience was shadowed at the moment by the mere excitement of facing Lonewolf in battle. The death of a rival...how he looked forward to that fight.

I shall give him an honorable death. Thought Jago as he smiled to himself, trying his best to keep his composure and not get too overly excited. Not only Lonewolf, but prince Hajimate and prince Kaze may appear in the battle as well. This will be a good battle. he thought. He squeezed the sides of the horse he was riding, making it trot faster along the path.

No time to waste. Jago's eyes glowed a bright read as he smiled a hideous, fanged smile.

Chapter 30: The Battle Begins

Light pervaded the open grass field of Croatia as the sun began to rise into its full height amidst the sky. A dark figure atop a horse could be seen in the distance. His black spiky armor, a contradiction to the beauty the sun illuminated. The man held up a familiar banner, crimson red with the silhouette of a demonic head in the middle, with golden embroidery bordering the banner. Just then, several other black figures atop horses galloped forward, the man holding the banner leading them. Like locusts, they swarmed the entire grassland. Hundreds, no...thousands of them, all heading towards a single two story building located among the grasslands by its lonesome.

"Here they come." Standing beside the beautiful jacaranda tree located just in front of the guild, Lonewolf watched patiently as Kratos' army grew near in the distance. "This is going to be fun." Stated Kamikalo with her usual cheery tone as she cracked her knuckles. "I hope this plan of yours is going to work..." said Shadowkite, a bit hesitatingly. "It should buy us enough time until your fellow druids get here..." Said Lonewolf. His head sunk low a bit.

Hajimate....Kaze....Pana....where are you guys? We could sure use the extra numbers about now. He thought.

Lonewolf looked back at his own small army of sixty or so dragoons. Sadly, his dragoon members couldn't recruit that many volunteers. Most of them were mere farmers who only have little training with a musket, killing crows that try to eat their corn or wolves/foxes that try to eat their livestock. Normally they would be useless under these circumstances, but like Shadowkite, Lonewolf too had hoped that this strategy of his would prove effective...or at least buy them enough time for the druids to launch their surprise attack from the demon army's right flank.

Various crude, wooden, jagged barriers formed a wall a good distance from the guild, just under a large hill that lay ahead. The wooden barriers had spaces in between them, just barely large enough for the barrel of a musket. Lonewolf had learned this strategy from a historic battle that took place in the eastern lands during the late 1500's.

"The Battle at Nagashino." Lonewolf reminded himself of the legendary battle's title. Though Lonewolf didn't have a thousand muskets...nor was there a river separating the muskets from the horsemen...however, Lone hoped that the steep slope of the hill will prove a diversion enough to shower the demonic horsemen with gunfire. He also hoped that Kratos wouldn't send his entire army to engulf them...why send an army of thousands to simply wipe out a band of less then a hundred men? If Kratos were to send a smaller group of demons to attack them at first, that should buy them enough time for the druids to arrive with a special "present" for the demonic army's right flank.

"The demonic army has slowed to a halt, sir Lonewolf." Derek Wood, the young dragoon knight and fairly new acquaintance of Majik made his way towards Lonewolf and the others to alert Lone of the demon army's actions. He had been scouting from a better vantage point atop the steep hill in the distance. "They seem to be setting up camp."

Lonewolf breathed a sigh of relief at that. "So...they won't be running us over with their entire army after all. That's good news, thank you Derek. Continue scouting and inform me if anything changes." Derek saluted Lonewolf, "Yes sir, will do sir." Lonewolf sighed heavily. He told Derek not to call him "sir", yet the young dragoon continued to do so. It couldn't be helped he guessed. Derek made his way back up the hill as Lonewolf turned to regard "Juggalo" Josh Jackson.

"Ready the riflemen and get into positions. Standby for further instructions after doing so." Josh took a swig of his whiskey, then imitated a drunken version of Derek's salute, "Raw-jer, mister Lawnwulf...hic!" Lone's eyebrows furrowed as he nodded at Josh's bottle of whiskey, "Easy with that. I need you sober for this fight." Josh seemed rather confused by what Lonewolf said, "....I am sober." He stated as he nearly lost his balance. Lonewolf rolled his eyes, "Whatever. Just get the others into position." Josh nodded and staggered over towards the thirty or so men and began hollering orders at them to ready their rifles and to get into position. As the dragoon riflemen scurried about to carry out the orders, Josh took another swig of his whiskey bottle, followed by a large, audible belch.

Standing at a few meters behind the wooden barriers and riflemen, Lonewolf, along with Kamikalo, Shadowkite, and a strangely quiet Majik, all stood in front of the other half of his army. After the riflemen have done their job at picking apart the demons that Kratos will send from afar, Lonewolf's squad of infantry will run in to meet them in melee combat.

The riflemen stood in formations of three, spread out behind the barriers in about 11-12 groups. Another idea taken from the great Oda Nobunaga from the history books. The first rifleman will fire off a shot, then begin reloading. While the first rifleman reloads, the other two accompanying him will fire and begin reloading. After the third shot, the first rifleman should be ready for another shot. Thereby creating a non-stop volley of musket fire. Though Juggalo Josh needed no such formation, considering the extraordinary speed he has when it comes to reloading his rifle. It was quite astounding at how fast he can reload a musket, again, proving his remarkable marksmanship. Josh stood alone behind the wooden barrier in the middle of the riflemen, his rifle held lazily atop his right shoulder as he continued to take swig after swig of his whiskey.

Vengeance will be mine. Thought Majik, as he continuously sharpened his great sword with a whetstone. Win or lose, Majik was aiming to kill one demon before it was all over: Jago. His death was all that mattered to him at this point. He tossed aside the used up whetstone and immediately pulled out another from his pocket as he resumed sharpening his already dangerously sharp sword.

Lonewolf slowly began rubbing his silver locket with his thumb, silently praying for Stephanie and Aerial to watch over him and protect him in the battle that was to come. He opened his eyes and looked forward with a resolute look in his eyes. ".....lets get this over with."

*************************************************

"How many?" Asked Kratos. He was clad in dark burgundy and black tight fitting royal armor with a flowing burgundy cape and the royal crown atop his head. He was sitting atop a small throne that was carried by four demon peasants from all four corners, and holding a large red rod scythe that seemed to be made of red dragon scales and a dragon claw, sharpened to resemble a sickle blade, at his side. He was regarding a young demon scout when he asked his question. His scraggly white threads of neck-length hair whipping about as he turned his head to regard the scout.

"Far less then a hundred men, sir. They were standing behind crude wooden barriers. Apparently awaiting an attack. There was no sign of prince Hajimate or prince Kaze, but Lonewolf is standing amongst them." Answered the young scout. Kratos couldn't help but guffaw with laughter at that point. After a fit of laughing, he finally turned to regard Jago, who was standing at attention the entire time. "Jago. Take no more then 100 men and wipe them out. Let us be done with this nuisance as quickly as possible." he yawned after that last sentence, "We will deal with the renegade princes when they show themselves."

Jago nodded, a small hint of a smile could be seen on his lips. He was obviously ecstatic to have the chance to face Lonewolf in battle. Though a bit disappointed that Hajimate nor Kaze don't seem to be taking place in this minor scuffle, he will still have the pleasure of fighting Lonewolf in the meantime.

After making the necessary arrangements, Jago led the small portion of demonic soldiers towards the guild in the distance. All of them atop their horses and wielding various sharp weapons. Swords, spears, scythes, etc. They galloped in the formation of an arrowhead with Jago at its tip. "At last.....here I come Lonewolf!" Jago grinned, flashing his fanged smile. He looked like a hungry beast about to feast on its helpless prey.

*********************************************

"They are coming!" Derek slid down the steep slope and headed over to Lonewolf's infantry group as he unhinged his shield from his back and grabbed the axe hanging on his side. Without hesitation, Lonewolf rallied his troups, "Prepare for battle!!!" The dragoons hollered in unison, pumping up their adrenaline in the process. "It's about time." Stated Kamikalo impatiently as she hopped up and down in a martial arts stance.

"Um...." a familiar voice causes Lonewolf to turn around in surprise. There stood Neko-Meww....holding a rolling pin as if it were a sword and a basket as if it were a shield. "I want to help you, master." Lonewolf abruptly shook his head, "No Neko. Go back inside with Violet and wait there." Just then Violet popped up from atop Neko's head, holding up the small katana that Bogey had made for her. Apparently she had gotten access to it while they were preparing for battle. "This one wishes to help master Lonewolf as well!" She stated triumphantly as she held her katana above her head.

Despite the cute display, Lonewolf shook his head firmly, "No, Violet. I don't want any harm to befall..." Just then, a loud battle horn could be heard not far from their position. "s**t...they're close." He turned to regard Neko and Violet with somewhat saddened and concerned eyes, "Just....be careful please. I want you two to run away if things go wrong." He readied his shield spell on his lips as he turned to regard the wooden barriers and the riflemen. He nodded at Josh, who nodded back slowly, for once, showing how serious he is about the general situation. He turned to look through the space between the barrier. "Ready your rifles men." He stated calmly, but firmly. The riflemen loaded their muskets. "Aim." The riflemen positioned their rifles between the space provided by the barriers. Just then a shower of black horses with black armored riders poured down the steep slope. The horses slowing a bit due to the dramatic shift in the ground.

"Fire."

Chapter 31: The Demonic Skirmish

A storm of bullets showered the unsuspecting demon riders. Toppling twenty to thirty of them as they consistently poured down the steep hill. The riflemen behind the barriers taking turns with their shots in their groups of 3. After the first volley of gunfire, Josh tossed his whiskey bottle aside, shattering the bottle on the rocky ground, pulled up his rifle and fired off a shot, tagging one of the surprised demons through his helmet directly through his right eye. The demon fell off his horse immediately as the fatal gun shot blew out the back of his skull. Without hesitation, Juggalo Josh reloaded his rifle in a mere 2 seconds flat, then proceeded to fire upon the unsuspecting demon just behind the first he had killed with another head shot.

Amidst the chaos, Lonewolf smiled despite himself. His plan was working...but then he noticed something strange about the situation. He began to scan the dead demon bodies sprawled along the bottom of the hill....there seemed to be a mere 20-30 or so dead bodies. Not only that, but the charge by the enemy seemed to have come to a halt. "....decoys..!" He realized with a gasp.

Before he could say anything however, a large number of demonic riders lined up across the top of the hill. Their numbers seemed to match Lonewolf's numbers in men. As they all just stood there, Josh signaled for his riflemen to continue firing. However, something seemed horribly wrong...the bullets from the muskets seemed to ricochet off what looked like a transparent blue magical shield. "Hold your fire!" Shouted Lonewolf from behind the ranks.

The musket fire ceased. Just then, a familiar banner could be seen casually making its way through the demonic horsemen towards the middle of their line. The horseman carrying the banner atop the back of his saddle via a pole wedged into a provided slot, finally emerged. He lifted his helmet revealing an all too familiar face accompanied with a viciously fanged smile

"JAGO!!!" Roared Majik as he began to rush forward, but was abruptly caught by Lonewolf. "I want him dead just as much as you do, Majik, but rushing into a swarm of demons will only get yourself killed!" Lonewolf looked directly into Majik's eyes when he said this. Majik grit his teeth. As much as he hated to admit it, Lone was right. He took a step back and stood beside Lonewolf as he glared at the proud demon general.

Jago slowly began to clap, "It seems that you are smarter then you look, sir Lonewolf. The 'Battle at Nagashino' if I'm not mistaken..?" He smiled, "Impressive strategy, that was. However..." His eyebrows furrowed, "You aren't the only one who is familiar with that historic battle. The moment our scout informed king Kratos that you had 'crude' wooden barriers lined up in front of your forces, I suspected as much."

"How perceptive of you." hissed Lonewolf with bitter sarcasm. He was just glowering at Jago as hard as Majik was. Jago shook his head remorsefully, "You DO realize, of course, that you lack not only the resources, but the numbers as well in order to pull off such a strategy, correct? Did you really believe you could take out our entire army with such few numbers?"

"No." Stated Lonewolf. "But if we were going down....we would go down fighting." Jago smiled menacingly. That was exactly what he wanted to hear. "Ah. A true man of honor....good..." He held up his right open hand, then signaled his men to move in as he moved his hand forward. "Kill them."

The moment Jago gave the signal, the black demonic riders rode down the steep hill, Jago's blue barrier still surrounding them as they neared the wooden barriers. "Fall back!" Shouted Lonewolf. The riflemen obeyed the command without hesitation as they retreated. All except one...Juggalo Josh stood his ground as he waited for the barrier to dissipate, keeping aim the entire time. As soon as the horsemen reached the wooden barriers, the blue magical barrier disappeared. At that very moment, Josh fired a shot at point blank range at an oncoming demon, killing him instantly. After firing the shot, he dove to the side to avoid getting trampled by the oncoming horsemen.

"Charge!!!" Lonewolf lead the remnants of his army forward toward the horsemen. Silver armor clashed with black armor as the onslaught began. The battle being completely even due to the equal number in men from both sides. Demon and dragoon alike fell one after the other as the battle rose to chaotic levels.

Kamikalo fired a yellow ki blast at two oncoming demons, engulfing them and their horses entirely, killing them instantly. Another demon rode up to her, ready to impale her with his spear, but just as he thrust forward with his spear, Kamikalo leaped up on top of the demon soldier's spear, ran up its shaft, then back flip kicked the demon soldier off his horse.

Majik and Derek worked together as they fought back to back. Derek blocked an oncoming slash from one of the mounted soldiers, then counter attacked with a horizontal slash with his axe, connecting with the demon's lower back and causing him to fall off his horse with an audible thud. Majik swung his great sword widely, chopping off demons' heads, demons' horses' legs, pretty much anything that came into contact with his blade was immediately severed.

Shadowkite shot arrow after arrow as she ducked and dodged the oncoming demons. She immediately shape shifted into a cougar and pounced on an oncoming demon, toppling him from his horse. As they fell on the ground, the demon's helmet fell off, Shadowkite immediately tore out the demon's throat, spat the flesh aside, then shape shifted back to her human form just in time to slice at an oncoming horse's front leg with one of the blades located on her bracers. The horse fell over, toppling its rider. Shadow kite immediately cocked an arrow and shot the demon rider in the back of the skull before he could get up.

At this point, most of the demons had been knocked off their horses. One demon got up from the ground and regarded Neko with a menacing glance. Neko, armed with merely a rolling pin and a basket, couldn't help but cower at the oncoming soldier. She held up her basket defensively as if it were a shield, then bopped the demon's helmet with her rolling pin. There was a slight pause as they just looked at each other. The demon finally let out a deep chuckle as he unsheathed a crooked blade from its sheath located at his side. He lifted the blade high up, ready to bring it down on the helpless Neko. Neko just looked away at this point, now realizing how much of a bad idea this was. "Thud." The sound of a body hitting the ground could be heard.

Neko opened her eyes slowly and looked over, only to smile widely and pounce/hug Lonewolf who was now standing where the demon once stood. Apparently he had felled the demon before it could finish poor Neko off. "Master!!! You saved me!" As Neko clung onto Lonewolf's torso, Lonewolf turned to shoot a large purple blast at a demon who aimed to cut them down during their touching moment. The demon's head got completely blown off from the blast, as the body slumped to the floor. "Get inside Neko....NOW!" said Lonewolf as he pulled Neko off of himself. A bit shocked by Lone's shouting voice, she nodded hesitatingly, then turned and scurried back towards the guild as she shifted back into her cat form.

Lonewolf turned and quick drew his flintlock pistol as he toppled another demon who was aiming for his back. He ducked a horizontal slash from a demon's axe on his left, summoned his Sword of the Fallen Devil spell and countered with an uppercut, starting from the demon's groin, straight up to his skull, slicing him in half. "Away." Whispered Lone as he disappeared just in time to evade a downward slash from a demon that was behind him. He reappeared behind that demon and impaled him from the back with his rapier. He turned to his right to regard yet another oncoming soldier and parried his attack with his energy blade while he booted the impaled demon off his rapier. After freeing his blade from the dead demon, Lone turned to regard the attacking soldier.

They stood looking at each other, Lonewolf dual wielding his magical blade in his right two fingers and his rapier in his left hand. The demon was using a long curved blade as it remained hunched over, ready to strike at any moment. Lonewolf waited patiently for the demon to attack as he used his peripheral vision to keep an eye on his surroundings. Things seemed to be going well for the dragoons....however, why weren't any of the demons transforming? He managed a quick glance at Jago who was still sitting calmly atop his horse as he surveyed the entire battle from atop the hill.

What the hell are you waiting for..? Thought Lonewolf as he parried another attack from the demon he was fighting.

****************************************************

They're not bad. Mused Jago as he watched the battle intently from atop his horse. However, I'll wait a bit longer before I order my men to transform. Jago always preferred to give his enemies a fighting chance, even if the odds were completely in his favor. He knew quite well that the moment he orders his men to transform, it will be all over. The fragile human body could never withstand the sheer brute strength and rock hard skin of a pure blooded demon's skin. Which was exactly why he waited. It wouldn't be a fair fight otherwise. He thought to himself. He patiently watched as his own men got killed left and right. Jago's platoon knew very well not to upset their general by transforming without him ordering them to do so first. If they did, Jago would kill them immediately. His honor and beliefs were well known to his men, and they respected him for that. More through fear then anything else.

************************************************

"Oh noes!" Squealed the 6 inch little girl as she ran for cover, ducking and dodging the monstrous sized boots of dragoons and demons alike. "This one does not wish to be here any longer!" She cried. She ran through the tall beads of grass, trying to make her way up north towards the guild, using her built in compass which was programmed into her mind. Holding her little katana in her right hand she made a break for it. However, she was stopped by quite a number of lizards that were about her size. "What..?" She began, but was interrupted by an abrupt "Shhhh!" from one of the lizards.

Violet thought for a moment....lizards don't have the ability to speak! Then this must be...

"We are the druids who have come to aid the messenger of the Creator." The lizard whispered. Violet's eyes widened, she then began jumping up and down with excitement, "Hooray! The druids have come to save master Lonewolf!" She cheered. "SHHHHHHH!!!" hissed the lizard. "Oh....sorry." She whispered.

"Are you fighting too?" Asked one of the lizards. Violet shook her head, "Oh no no no nooo. This one cannot help in fighting these enemies." The lizard nodded, looked at the other lizards then looked back at Violet. "Hurry, get atop my back, I will escort you back to the guild. Violet nodded, then saddled herself atop the lizard's back. They started for the guild in the distance.

*************************************************

It's time. Thought Jago. He lifted his 7' katana into the air as he shouted: "Begin the transformation! Show the enemy no mercy!" Just then all the demonic soldiers who had been losing began growing up to triple their original sizes. Their black spiky armor expanding with them.

**************************************************

"s**t..." Lonewolf cursed under his breath as the demon he was in combat with grew three times his original size. "This isn't good." He said as he looked up at his towering opponent. Remembering his previous bout with Kaze Kenise, as well as his first encounter with Jago, Lonewolf knew that the tide of battle was about to take a VERY drastic change....

Chapter 32: Reinforcements

The dragoons watched in horror as their enemies grew three times their size, bony spikes jutting out from the holes their armor provides as their armor expanded in size with them. Derek attempted engaging one of them and was immediately swatted aside as if he were a mere bug.

"Finish them off!" Shouted Jago, still sitting proudly atop the nearby hill. Obeying their general's orders, the demons began their rampage....

However, just before they managed to engage the dragoons in their new, overwhelming forms, various vines began shooting up from the ground, instantly wrapping the demons in them. They tried in vain to swat/pull the vines off of them, but to no avail. The vines held fast, incapacitating what was left of Jago's small army.

"What?!" Growled Jago, completely astounded by what was happening and for once showing a sense of worry, shattering his once proud and arrogant demeanor. Just then, various wild grizzly bears began appearing seemingly out from the grass and began mauling on the incapacitated demons. "Druids..?!" Spat Jago as he looked on in disgust. "But...how..?"

"They think I'm a friend of their God." Stated Lonewolf calmly as he slowly began to approach Jago atop the hill. A familiar mischievous, almost sardonic grin crossed his lips. "It seems you've underestimated me more then you had previously thought. This little skirmish was merely a diversion for the druids to step in....and do this." He pointed at the sky behind Jago.

Jago slowly hesitated at first, not wanting to turn his head away from his worthy enemy, but finally turned to look in horror. "They....No..! NO!!!"

*************************************************

Kratos sat atop his throne in a very bored fashion. He began to fidget, "What the hell is taking so long?! Why hasn't Jago wiped them out yet?!" He roared. "Sir!" The same scout from before approached his lord, panting heavily, "The...the druids, sir!" Kratos got impatient, "Out with it already! What of the druids?!" The soldier pointed with a shaky finger at the sky to the east. Kratos turned to regard what the soldier was pointing at, his eyes growing wide at what he saw.

Thousands of various large birds caked the sky, blotting out the sun completely as they flew above the entirety of Kratos' army. Though something didn't seem quite right...the birds seemed to be carrying something in their talons. Kratos could see a small glare of light that seemed to fall from one of the winged creatures....as it fell, it grew larger and larger. By the time he had figured out what it was, the holy water splashed atop one of his men. The demon soldier screamed in agony as his flesh burst into flames, and burnt to ashes in mere seconds.

"HOLY WATER!!!" Cried out a random soldier. The demons began to run in panic, vainly trying to dodge the holy rain. The demons holding up Kratos' throne immediately dropped what they were holding and began running away. "Oof!" Kratos fell onto the ground hard, "Cowards!!! You will be beheaded for this!!" He roared. The demon peasants didn't seem to listen, they kept running, but were instantly put to a halt as a splash from holy water burst them into flames.

Fearing the pelt of holy water from the sky himself, Kratos pulled up one side of his throne as he crawled underneath, sheltering himself from the deadly rain. He cursed under his breath as he watched helplessly as his brain washed army's numbers grew thinner and thinner due to the holy onslaught.

*************************************************

Up in the sky, the winged druids held buckets of holy water in their talons as they soared over the demonic armor and poured their buckets in the process, toppling most of Kratos' army in one fell swoop. However, their "ammo" was quite limited and they only had enough for one devastating swoop. "ATTAAACK!!!!" Cried the gray hawk who seemed to be leading the rest of the birds. The birds swooped down in unison as they flew in to meet their enemies face to face.

*************************************************

"They...stopped..?" Kratos peeked out from underneath his throne holder to glance up at the sky. He could see the birds swooping down towards them. He smiled malevolently as he pushed aside his crude shelter, picked up his scythe and shouted aloud: "They have run out of holy water! Look!! They are beginning to charge forward from the sky! Stand your ground demons and face them!! Avenge your fallen allies!!!"

The panicked demons seemed to snap back into attention as their lord's voice boomed in their ears. They unsheathed their weapons and immediately transformed into their demonic forms as they awaited the druid's from the sky. However, as their attention was drawn to the heavens, none of the demons noticed the numerous lizards crawling about amongst the grass.

Before the birds reached their destination, leafy, thorny vines began shooting out from the earth and began wrapping themselves around the demonic army, boots...then legs...then torsos. As the birds reached the ground, they morphed into various beasts of the forest. Lions, tigers, bears...oh my, indeed. The gray hawk morphed into a majestic gray wolf and leaped at an incapacitated demon as he gnawed ferociously at the helpless demon's throat. "Take this time to feast upon humanoid beings, for it will be the last time we feed upon them!" Shouted Rastus, the wolf. The druids happily took their elder's advice as they ripped the blackened flesh off the demons one by one. Their lizard friends, joining them in their feast as they also transformed into various beasts of the forest.

Kratos watched on in horror as a majority of his demonic army was being eaten alive. "Retreat!!!" He shouted as he hopped atop a black steed and rode off towards the south with the remainder of his army, no more then a couple thousand or so men.

***********************************************

"It's over, Jago. You lost." Stated Lonewolf as the dragoons began finishing off what remained of Jago's small, incapacitated platoon with ease. Jago just watched as the main bulk of Kratos' army got slaughtered by the druids' surprise attack. He saw Kratos give the order to retreat as his men fell back to the south. Jago despised the thought of defeat, however retreat was, after all, the better part of valor. He began to ride away from the dragoons. "Until next time, sir Lonewolf!" Cried Jago as he rode off towards Kratos and the remainder of the demonic army.

Just before he was able to ride away, a large great sword swooped horizontally across the legs of Jago's black horse, slicing them off in one fell swoop, causing Jago to topple off his legless steed. Majik stood at the ready as he approached Jago. "You're not going anywhere....murderer!" His blue eyes burning with rage.

Jago stood to his feet and drew his 7' saw-like katana as he stood at the ready. Lonewolf and Majik slowly approached him with their weapons drawn. A small, familiar wet bead of sweat slowly trickled down from Jago's brow...

*************************************************

Curse this Lonewolf and his petty little guild! Thought Kratos. Who would have ever thought that he would gain the druids as allies? But that's ok, Kratos figured that he would just retreat for now so he could regroup his forces and eventually gain a preemptive strike against Lonewolf and his minuscule army. Yes. He thought, We will have our vengeance. He smiled malevolently.

However, his smile faded as he saw what was heading towards his army. "N...no! Impossible!!!" He cried in outrage. Prince Kaze Kenise rode alongside Pana Sule...leading a VERY large army of half bred demons behind them. I....it's over... thought Kratos in despair. He halted his retreat, along with his men. His eyes darted about as he tried to figure out where he went wrong. He had sorely underestimated his own son, along with Lonewolf....and now, he feared, his reign of terror will be coming to an abrupt end. "NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" He roared as his voice had undergone a deep, guttural tone. His body twitched then transformed three times its normal size. "KILL THEM ALL!!! OBLITERATE THE HALF BREED TRAITORS!!!" He commanded, through razor sharp teeth. Without hesitation, the brain washed demonic army charged forward as they all transformed amidst their charge.

The battle for peace had just begun.

Chapter 33: Revenge

Pure blood demons clashed with the humanoid half bred demonic army. Though small in comparison to their gigantic counterparts, the Sulia clan's demons nearly matched the pure blooded demons in strength. Not only that, but a majority of them were skilled in their own art of sorcery. The battle was now magic vs brute strength, as casualties rose from both sides amidst the onslaught.

"Nova Hell Storm!" Shouted Pana as a rain of fire fell upon Kratos' army, harming the pure blooded demons, but doing nothing to the Sulia clan's demons. Just then Kaze raised his arm from the torso up, almost as if he were pushing something upward. In response to this motion, ten or so earth-made golems began uprooting from the ground. Standing at about twice the size of the pure blooded demons, they towered over both of the armies, "Attack!" Commanded Kaze. The golems did not hesitate in carrying out their master's orders. Bashing/stomping on the huge demons as if they were mere bugs, aiding the Sulia clan in their advance and forcing Kratos' army back in the process.

Just then, Kaze took to the air as he transformed into his demonic form tripling in size as he flapped his demonic wings. He soared through the rain of fire from Pana's spell, making his way towards the back of the pure blooded army, seeking only one man...

**********************************************

The dragoons as well as the druids surrounded Jago along with Lonewolf and Majik. "Lay down your sword and surrender." Stated Lonewolf with a calm, yet serious tone in his voice. "Surrender?!?!" Majik looked over at Lonewolf, eyes wide with disbelief. "This guy murdered Aerial, Wolf! How can you tell him to surrender?! He deserves to be killed!!" He glowered at Jago with wild eyes.

"The boy is right." Agreed Jago, much to Majik's surprise. "I deserve only death after what I had done....but I will not surrender. I will go down fighting." Jago seemed adamant about this. Lonewolf nodded, understanding now what type of person Jago was. A man of honor. Thought Lone, remembering what Jago had said to him before he signaled his men to attack. Jago would fight every last dragoon and druid if he had to....even if it cost him his own life. "A duel to the death then." Said Lonewolf, finally. Jago smiled, obviously this was what he wanted the entire time.

Majik stepped forward after Lonewolf said that, ready to feed his lust for vengeance, but was stopped by Lonewolf's hand, which held him back. "This is my fight, kid." Said Lone as he stepped forward, holding up his rapier. "Bull s**t!!!" Shouted Majik, completely losing his temper at this point. "This is OUR fight, Wolf! Aerial was MY friend too! Or did ya forget that already?!" Lonewolf remained silent...Majik did have a point. The three of them had been together ever since Lonewolf had become a pirate.

"I'll fight both of you." Stated Jago, interrupting their argument. "You both were close friends with the man I had killed. Therefore it is only fair that both of you fight me in his name. Besides..." He grinned, revealing his fanged teeth. "One of you wouldn't be enough for me anyway." Both Lonewolf and Majik's eyebrows furrowed after that last remark. "Very well then." Said Lonewolf, "We'll both fight you. None of my men or druids will interfere with this fight! No matter what! Is that clear?!" The dragoons and druids both shouted in acknowledgement. "Lets get this over wi..." Began Lonewolf, but was abruptly interrupted by Majik's fireball spell.

"Furious Flame!!!" Shouted Majik as a quite large fireball shot out from his palm, zooming in Jago's direction. "Hmph." Jago quickly side stepped the attack, twirling around as he did so and firing a blue energy blast of his own in Majik's direction. The energy blast shot so fast, that Majik didn't have a chance to dodge it. He gets hit hard with the blast and blown off his feet.

Lonewolf took this opportunity to rush in, holding his rapier in his left hand, he attempts a thrust towards Jago's midsection. Jago catches Lonewolf's blade within the saw-like teeth of his katana, then quickly pulls downward, literally sawing Lonewolf's thin rapier in two. Jago grinned ferociously as he bumps Lone with his right shoulder, pushing Lone over. Jago flips his katana around so that the blade was facing downward, as he attempts to finish Lonewolf.

However, his coup de grace was abruptly interrupted by a fireball that catches Jago in the chest, forcing him back a step. Majik quickly followed up with a horizontal slash with his large great sword. Jago hops back a step, dodging Majik's swing as he readies himself to engage in battle with the ferocious youth. "You took Aerial away from us, but I won't let you take Lonewolf!" Shouted Majik as he chopped angrily at Jago. Jago just parried Majik's reckless attacks with ease with his long katana which was wielded by his right hand only.

As Majik continued his onslaught, he didn't notice a ball of blue energy being built up in Jago's left hand. "Then I'll just have to take BOTH of your lives!" Retorted Jago as he fired his blue energy spell again in Majik's direction. However, this time the spell was negated by a green, see through barrier spell. Majik's eyes opened widely as he turned to see Lonewolf standing there, holding his left hand out. He had summoned his shield of immunity spell to block Jago's blast.

"You're being to reckless, Majik. Remember what I've told you." As he said this, he looked over at Jago, who just glared back at him in return. Lonewolf's lips moved slightly as if he were whispering something. He suddenly disappeared. "What..?" Jago looked around, trying to find where Lonewolf had gone, but stiffens up by a familiar voice coming from behind him, "Over here." Lonewolf held out his right palm and fired a dark purple blast in Jago's direction.

It was Jago's turn to use his blue barrier spell to block Lonewolf's blast, but as he turns to regard Lonewolf, Majik takes the opportunity to slash diagonally downward, down Jago's back and slicing through his thick black armor. "ARGH!!!" cried Jago as he writhed in pain and stumbled a few steps towards Lonewolf, who followed up with a diagonal slash of his own using his Sword of the Fallen Devil spell. He carves a similar scar across Jago's forehead and cheek, matching the scar that Jago had given Lonewolf just after he had coldly ordered his men to snap Aerial's neck like a twig.

Jago roared in both anguish and anger, as he suddenly grew three times his size, spikes protruding from his arms, thighs and back. Forcing Lonewolf and Majik to retreat back a few steps. Evil energy pulsated from Jago as he achieved his full, horrific form. As he stood at his full height an evil grin crossed his black lips, revealing his large fangs. He began to laugh menacingly, "Hehehehahahaha! It had been so many years since I had to rely on my full power in order to win a battle. Thank you, Lonewolf and Majik for forcing me to transform."He took a deep breath, savoring every moment, feeling the power of his demonic form flow through his veins. He sighed heavily as he looked down at Lonewolf, the large, new scar on his forehead still bleeding profusely. "I am going to thoroughly enjoy ripping you two apart." He almost seemed to convulse in pleasure at the mere thought of that.

*************************************************

Kratos looked on in horror as the fiery rain and large golems tore into the remainder of his army. "Damnit..." He cursed under his breath, his demonic eyes glowing fiercely as he glowered at the half breeds. Losing to druids is one thing....but for a pure blooded demon to lose to a half-breed...that was simply insulting! "Satan damn them....DAMN THEM ALL!!!" He roared.

Just then, a lightning bolt seemed to fire out of nowhere, catching Kratos on the chest, stunning him briefly. "What the hell?!?!" Looking up into the sky, Kratos' red eyes opened widely in fear as he gazed upon his demonic son, hovering not too far above him and holding his large, thick red great sword in his right claws. He slowly began to descend just in front of Kratos.

"Hello father." Said Kaze as his feet touched the ground. "Hello son." Hissed Kratos as he held his scythe at the ready. "Been a long time." Said Kaze, his demonic voice as calm as can be. "Tell me son..." began Kratos, "Why did you side with your cousin instead of with me? We could have ruled this island, you and I. Perhaps even the world. With you by my side, we could have been invincible!"

Kaze shook his head slowly, "I never shared your ambition, father. Besides, You crossed the line when you turned against your own flesh and blood." Kratos scoffed, "What?! Hajimate was a traitor! Did you really believe that we could get away with mind controlling your uncle without SOME rebellion within our family to take place? Hajimate needed to die. That was the only way I could keep my grasp on the throne. I couldn't let him live, just as now I cannot let YOU live." Kaze shook his head, then nodded to the side, regarding Kratos' losing army. "Do you really think you can win now? With these numbers? You've lost father. It's over. Please....please lay down your weapon and accept your defeat. I do not wish to kill you."

Kratos looked at Kaze up and down, as if he were searching for something, "Where is the ring?" He asked, changing the subject. "Its with Hajimate. He's reversing the mind control spell from his father as we speak." Kratos glowered at his son, "Liar!! Only I know how to use that ring!" Kaze shook his head, "I am not lying, father. As you know, Hajimate is a powerful wizard. While we were heading to the Sulia clan to seek their aid, Hajimate found a way to manipulate the ring to his advantage. It's over father. Please, lay down your weapon, call off your men and surrender. I can probably convince uncle Kain to spare your life and just imprison you for a couple hundred years, since I helped aid Hajimate end your tyranny....please. Be reasonable."

Kratos scoffed, "HAH! What is this?! Another ruse of Lonewolf's? Hajimate is hiding somewhere in the forest with a portion of the half-breed scum ready to pounce once I lay down my arms, isn't he? You have the ring on you! I know it! Never! I will NEVER surrender to the likes of you! I will kill you, take back my ring, mind control the druids, then kill the half breeds, along with Hajimate and his half breed reinforcements and then that meddling Lonewolf and the rest of his pitiful army! Yes....yes, that is what I'll do!" His red eyes flashed with insanity.

Kaze shook his head sadly. It seems that his father's stubbornness in accepting defeat had made him delusional. There was nothing more he could do....he had to cut his father down. That was the only way this war would end now. "I'm sorry that it has come to this...father." He held up his red great sword and charged forward.

"Give me back my ring, BOY!!!" blood red Sword and scythe clashed as father and son began their battle. One battling for absolute power, the other battling for peace.

***************************************************

"Huff...huff..." Lonewolf panted heavily, completely winded from his battle against the demonic Jago. He had been ducking and dodging Jago's onslaught as well as taking devastating blow after blow alongside Majik for the past half hour. His blue magical blade extended from his right index and middle fingers flickered slightly. It was quite clear that he was losing power. He rolled aside to dodge another overhead slash by Jago's 7' katana. However, just before Lonewolf was able to get back on his feet, Jago fired a red energy blast from his mouth at Lonewolf, blowing him off his feet completely as Lonewolf's blue magical sword dissipated completely. He fell on his back, bounced off the floor, flipped backwards and finally landed on his stomach.

Just then, Majik dropped his great sword and jumped on Jago's back. He climbed up his spiky spine and reached the top of his demonic head and placed his hands atop Jago's skull. "Die!!!" He cried as he summoned his inner flames, engulfing Jago's head in fire completely. Jago roared in anger as he quickly grabbed Majik and tore him from his back. As he did so, the flames subsided from his skull, revealing various burn marks on his, already blackened, skin. He pinned Majik on the floor, his large left hand covering his entire torso. He held his katana's saw-like teeth to Majik's neck. "Are you paying attention, Lonewolf?" He growled, "I am about to take another one of your friends' life." He slowly began cutting along Majik's neck, as the teeth from his blade scratched along Majik's neck. Majik writhed helplessly as Jago's blade grew nearer and nearer towards his throat, cutting him a bit more each time. "Ugh..." gurgled Majik, "L...Lonewolf....h...hel..p..."

Lonewolf watched helplessly as Jago slowly cut away at Majik's throat. The dragoons and druids on the sidelines respectfully still watching the battle, not lifting a finger to help and honoring Lonewolf's previous order. God damnit..! I...can't move!! Majik.....no....not another one....not again... Lonewolf felt a sudden burst of energy within his body as his eyes grew completely white for a brief moment, then subsided back to normal. "NOT AGAAAAAAIIIINNNN!!!!!!" He roared, the sudden burst of energy flowing through his veins as he lifted himself up off the ground and began running towards Jago at an extreme velocity.

Jago just looked on in disbelief as Lonewolf suddenly rushed up to him and booted him just underneath his jaw, flinging the monstrous demon off his feet, dropping his katana and flailing backwards, but before he landed on the ground, Lonewolf appeared underneath him, using his teleportation spell and held his open right palm up against Jago's lower back as he catches the flailing demon from his downfall. "Sphere of Destruction!!!" He shouted as an incredible burst of dark purple energy burst through Jago's armor, then his demonic skin, then out his stomach.

Jago's red demonic eyes widened in horror as he knew what had just happened. He felt his insides get completely disintegrated as he saw the dark purple energy shoot out from his stomach. The force of the blast pushed him slightly upward, allowing Jago to get back up on his feet....but the damage was already done. He was dying. He slowly succumbed back into his human form, a large gaping hole within his stomach and lower back and bleeding profusely. He looked down at the hole in his torso...his hands feebly reaching to cover it up as he slowly turned to regard the man who had defeated him. He fell to his knees as he coughed up a large portion of blood.

"You...who....WHAT.....are you..?" He gargled. Lonewolf just stood tall, not sure how to answer that question himself, seeing as how he had absolutely no idea where that sudden burst of energy came from. Though he didn't let that show on his face. He just proudly gazed upon the dying Jago, "Lonewolf." He stated with a matter-of-fact tone to his voice. Jago winced hard for a bit due to the immense pain he was feeling at that very moment, but then slowly managed a feeble grin. "Heh......well done....Lone.." Before he could finish his sentence, Majik ran up beside Jago and uppercutted with Jago's own katana, completely lopping off the demon General's head at the neck.

Jago's lifeless, headless body slumped forward, without a word as blood poured out from the base of his neck in pints. "Go to hell, you b*****d." Growled Majik as he tossed Jago's katana atop his lifeless body. Lonewolf just regarded Jago's dead body with no emotion whatsoever. Everyone remained silent for a few moments as their victory slowly began to sink in.

Breaking the silence completely, everyone finally shouted in triumph, praising the epic battle they had just witnessed. Shadowkite could be seen amongst the dragoon and druids' ranks along with Kamikalo, Juggalo Josh, Derek Wood, even Angelus Domini who finally decided to show himself after all the chaos. Shadowkite just stared in awe at Lonewolf, obviously having a new found respect for the young leader. Derek was as stoic as ever, but a smile crossed his lips as everyone cheered. Kamikalo cheered loudly as she hugged Juggalo Josh, who was trying to take a swig of another whiskey bottle, but was abruptly interrupted by Kami's unexpected hug as he spilled some of the whiskey on his chest. The hooded Angelus just nodded with approval amongst all the cheering dragoons and druids.

"Master!!!" Lonewolf finally snapped out of his trance, turning from the lifeless body that was once Jago and regarding a very enthusiastic Neko who, at this point, tackled him down to the floor with her usual pounce/hug. Even Violet scurried alongside Lonewolf's head, which was now at her height since Lonewolf was knocked to the ground. She hugged Lonewolf's cheek as she cooed, "This one is so glad to see that master Lonewolf is okay..."

"Me too!" Chimed Neko as she unburied her face from Lonewolf's chest to make eye contact. She was purring softly, as a normal cat would do. "...thanks." Said Lonewolf, still a bit shaken up from the fight. "Thank you all." He continued with a more confident tone as he pushed himself into a sitting position. "You all did great. Thank you, everyone." The dragoons and druids cheered even louder. This victory will forever be engraved in their minds until the day they die.

...but where the hell did that power come from..? Lonewolf silently asked himself.

************************************************

"We're almost there..." Hajimate galloped alongside his, now conscience, father, Kain Kenise and younger brother, Hezrou Kenise. The three of them now clad in their royal demonic, black, spiky armor. The only noticeable difference were the capes, Hajimate's being a bright red, Kain's being a darker red and Hezrou's being black.

"Hold on guys...we're coming." Hajimate turned and nodded at his father, who nodded in return. "I doubt they'll be alive by now." Stated Hezrou, coldly killing any hope that Hajimate once had. Unlike his father or brother, or the rest of the pure blooded demons, Hezrou had deep black, long hair that neatly parted from the middle and flowed down over his shoulders. It was a true anomaly for a pure blooded demon to have, some have even accused Hezrou of being a half-breed, but this wasn't true. He had come from the same mother and father as Hajimate. His cynicism was merely a result of years of being looked upon as an outcast.

"Shut up. They'll be fine. You don't know how powerful this Lonewolf guy is." defended Hajimate. Hezrou snorted, "He's a human. They're always weak." Hajimate shook his head, "Not this one." Hezrou sucked his teeth, "Tch, whatever." Kain decided to intervene in on his feuding sons, "Enough Hezrou. We will find out if whether this...'Lone wolf' you speak of is alive or not when we get there." Hajimate and Hezrou both remained silent after what they're father said. Though they didn't get along much with each other, they both shared mutual respect for their father. The three of them rode on in silence as they neared the open plains.

Chapter 34: A Death in the Family

As Lonewolf and the others celebrated their victory, the battle towards the south of the plains still raged on as the Sulia Clan clashed with the remaining forces of the Kenise clan. However, behind the Kenise clans' ranks a duel between father and son took place as the two royal demons clashed great sword and scythe relentlessly with each other.

"Give it up, BOY! Give me back my ring!" Shouted Kratos as he reached out his left claw, morphing it into a long, black tentacle. The monstrous appendage wrapped itself around the young prince's throat as it squeezed tightly, preventing Kaze from breathing. Kratos lifted his son above the ground and into the air as he choked the life out of him. Kaze writhed from within his father's grasp, dropping his crimson red great sword to the floor as he reflexively held the tentacle with both of his demonic hands.

Using his fang-like nails on his claws, Kaze dug into his father's arm. As blood spilled from the cuts, Kratos roared in pain as the tentacle released itself from Kaze's neck. Before the prince fell to the floor, he flapped his wings, pushing himself back a bit as he motioned upward from his torso again, with his right open hand. In response to his gesture two stone hands emerged from the ground, grasping onto Kratos' ankles, and preventing him from moving. "This trick won't work on me, child!" Growled Kratos as he chopped at one of the stone hands with his scythe, shattering it to pieces instantly.

Before he went for the other stone hand, Kaze swooped down to pick up his great sword off the grass, then upward as he went for a horizontal slash aimed for his father's throat. Seeing the attack at the last moment, Kratos refrained from attacking the stone hand that grasped his left ankle and ducked the attack. As Kaze changed his course in the sky to swoop in for another attack, Kratos shattered the second stone hand, then turned to swing his scythe vertically at Kaze's horizontal slash. He catches his son's blade and pulls downward, pulling sword, as well as demon down from the sky and causing Kaze to crash land hard on the ground.

"Give me back my ring!!!" Shouted Kratos as he swung his scythe overhead and brought it down, aiming for Kaze's back. Kaze managed to roll to the side before the scythe connected, but gets his right wing caught in his father's scythe. Kratos smiled devilishly as he dragged his scythe's blade towards himself, ripping a long, vertical gash into Kaze's right wing. Kaze roared in pain, then immediately followed up with an electrical blast from his right hand, aimed directly at Kratos' hand that was wielding the scythe.

Crying out in pain from the stunning electrical current that flowed through his hand and forearm, Kratos let go of his scythe, giving Kaze the opportunity to pounce on his father. The two demons rolled on the grass as they clawed and bit each other until both of them were bloodied and littered with cuts and gashes.

They finally stopped rolling as Kaze sat on his father's chest and began punching some sense into his father. Unable to counter the relentless assault by his son due to Kaze's knees pinning down his arms, Kratos simply took blow after blow from the young prince. "Okay okay okay!!!" Cried out Kratos. "I give up!!! Mercy! MERCY!!!!"

Kaze hesitated...was he hearing right? His father calling out for mercy? He looked into his father's demonic red eyes closely. His father looked like a lost child and were those..? Tears. Tears flowed down his blackened cheeks. Out of the hundreds of years that he had known his father, Kaze had never seen him cry. Had he finally knocked some sense into his father? "Do you give up?!" Demanded Kaze. Kratos nodded, obviously tired and out of breath from the ceaseless bashing of his skull. "Y..yes. I give up, son." Kaze glowered at his father, knowing well how much of a master of trickery he was, "You're lying." He growled.

Kratos shook his head, "No....you're right...I've lost. It's over...I....I'm sorry...son. Please...forgive me." More tears flowed from his red eyes as he said this. Kaze had never seen his father like this...he truly looked like a broken demon. Kaze's compassion for his father gave him the ability to believe him. He slowly stood up and took a few steps back, allowing his father to stand at his feet.

The two demons just looked into each others' eyes. Kaze finally smiled and placed his hand on his father's shoulder. Kratos did the same as he squeezed gently and shook his son's shoulder a bit. "Thank you, son." He said with genuine compassion in his voice. "I knew you would come to your senses, father. Hajimate and Kain should be nearing the plains soon. I will honor my word in trying to convince uncle to not execute you." Kaze nodded as he said this. Kratos returned the nod, "You have your mother's forgiveness, son..." He said, as he still held onto Kaze's shoulder. Kaze smiled at that thought. It had been so long since his father had ever mentioned his mother.........which was strange...

Before Kaze could react, Kratos' free hand morphed into what resembled a crude blade as he impaled his own son through the gut. Kaze couldn't believe what had just happened. He just looked up at his father in complete disbelief as he slowly reverted back to his human form. The bladed hand now protruding out from the base of his back. "....that is what made her so WEAK!" Continued Kratos with an icy tone to his voice. No longer looking at his son with compassion, he now looked upon his son as if he were a bug that he had just squashed with his boot. He looked at him in disgust as he twisted the blade.

Kaze's eyes widened in complete disbelief and pain. His father was...lying? How could he not see that? The tears....he saw his father cry....were those real tears? Or did he just "pretend" to cry? He failed in stopping his father...he felt his life draining from his body as his eyes rolled back up into his head. "F...father..." He gargled as his body finally fell limp. "Pitiful fool." Stated Kratos coldly as he pushed Kaze off his bladed hand, pushing against his limp face and letting the lifeless body fall to the ground. "Now where is that ring..?" Kratos knelt down and began sifting through his son's torn pants.

"YOU MURDERER!!!!" A familiar voice could be heard from behind Kratos. He knew that voice...it couldn't be..?

**************************************************

Hajimate, Hezrou and their father Kain all arrived into the clearing, only to gaze upon two battles in the distance. Druids fighting pure blooded demons to the right and half breeds in battle with another portion of the pure blooded demonic army. "See?" Hajimate turned to his brother, "Told you they'd still be alive." Hezrou just smiled wryly, "Yeah yeah...get on with it already." Hajimate grinned at his brother as he pulled out the ring of Indoctrination from one of his belt pouches, slipped it onto his right ring finger and held the ring up in the sky as he began the incantation to reverse the spell which he had learned from one of the many books he had sifted through during his travels with his cousin and Pana.

"Okslava, shuk-demalzga, grift tok bunolva, shimarr chfrizt tohk!" After saying the required incantations, the ring let out a bright green light that shot up into the sky, then rained upon the thousands of pure blooded demons in combat. The druids and half breeds ceased their attack as they witnessed the dazzling display of magic. The pure blooded demons reverted back into their human forms as they began looking around aimlessly as though they had just awoken from a very long nightmare.

Kain patted his son on the back, as both demons smiled widely. Just then, Hajimate noticed two familiar monstrous figures in the distance. One had impaled the other with what looked like his hand. Immediately recognizing who the impaled figure was, Hajimate couldn't help but cry out in agony, "NOO!!!!!" He rode towards the figures without saying anything, leaving his dumbfounded father and brother behind. Kain squinted his eyes, trying to see what his son was rushing towards. His eyes widened, "Kaze...no..."

*************************************************

"YOU MURDERER!!!!" Cried out Hajimate as he galloped at full speed towards his evil uncle. Still in demonic form, Kratos turned and regarded Hajimate with disbelief as he saw what he wore on his right ring finger. "I...Impossible!!! How could you have known that spe...!"

Before he could finish his sentence, Hajimate leaped off his galloping horse, pulled out his magical sword handle and placed it upon Kratos' neck. He quickly pulled back, magically pulling out Kratos' insides and organs, forming a blade out of that substance. Kratos' red eyes rolled back as he felt his vital organs being ripped from his body, he fell to his knees as Hajimate withdrew a large, bleeding blade of stomach, liver, heart, muscle, bone, pretty much everything that can normally be found within a humanoid's body. As he pulled out the disgusting blade, he sliced Kratos' head off his already dead body.

Kratos' body slumped down to the floor. The war was finally over....but...

Hajimate fell to his knees by Kaze's limp body. As the Sulia clan and druids cheered in unison at their victory, the demon prince silently wept by his cousin's side.

Chapter 35: Victory..?

The once beautiful grasslands of Croatia were now littered with dead bodies. Corpses of demons, dragoons, half breeds, and druids now dotted the landscape as the survivors from each clan/guild gathered the bodies and neatly lined them up across the plains as both sides counted their losses. Was the battle really over? Or was this just the beginning of what's to come?

These questions crossed Lonewolf's mind as he surveyed the dead that seemed to go on for miles. His own forces were dealt a serious blow during this battle, losing about half of what little forces he had. There was no way he would be able to manage another attack from an outside force. Lonewolf knew that his only strength relied upon those he allied himself with at this point. However, he believed that he at least had restored peace to Croatia...for now. The demonic general, Jago, was killed in combat, along with the evil tyrant, Kratos. The pure blooded demonic army had finally regained their senses as well...but at what cost?

Lonewolf turned to regard Hajimate who had just finished burying his cousin near Aerial's grave. Despite how much they tried, none of the healing spells worked on Kaze. No one could revive the dead. So many good men lost their lives for this war... Lonewolf began doubting his decision in coming to this island. It was my fault that Aerial... a tear rolled down Lonewolf's cheek.

Violet who had been sitting atop Lonewolf's right shoulder the entire time noticed the tear coming from Lonewolf's eye. "Is master Lonewolf okay?" She chimed with her usual sweet, innocent voice. Lonewolf smiled despite himself, Violet always seemed to cheer him up with her sweet demeanor and innocence. Though she was just a mere robot, she was very loyal and always there for him when he was feeling down. "It's nothing, Violet. I'm fine." He smiled weakly at her. Violet pointed at Lonewolf, "...but...master Lonewolf was leaking! Does master Lonewolf need maintenance?" Lonewolf closed his eyes and started chuckling to himself, which eventually turned into a jovial laughter. As he laughed out loud, Violet tilted her head to the side in confusion, "Did this one say something funny..?"

Hajimate stood in front of Kaze's grave, his cousin's crimson great sword in his right hand. He looked at the blade for a moment, then thrust the sword downward just above the grave, digging the sword into the ground. "I was too late...." He cried out in despair as he leaned against the hilt of his cousin's blade. "I'm....I'm sorry, cousin." He began weeping silently. "But...I got him..! I killed that b*****d! For you...Kaze." He sniffed loudly as he regained his composure and stood back to his feet.

"I know how you feel." A familiar voice chimed in from Hajimate's left. He turned to regard Majik Mason, who was standing above Aerial's grave. "Though he didn't know it...I considered Aerial as one of my best friends. He thought that all I cared about was gold and women....but in reality...I care about my friends too." He clenched his fist as he summoned fire around it. "Jago killed him before I got a chance to let him know that." Hajimate nodded slowly as he looked back at his cousin's grave. "And now Jago is dead...killed by you, right?"

Majik shook his head, "No. Me and Lonewolf. We both killed him...both of us avenged Aerial's death." Hajimate nodded, "And how do you feel now?" Majik looked down as his head sunk low. "...unsatisfied." Hajimate nodded firmly, obviously already knowing what Majik's response would be. "That's usually how it is. Revenge, I mean. In the end...it's never satisfying. The person you were avenging is still gone, and there's nothing you can do about it...but mourn." Both men remained silent as they looked upon their fallen friends' graves.

***************************************************

"By the Gods, boy! You're still alive!!" Bogey Baglebottom's voice could be heard in the distance. Lonewolf turned to see that not only Bogey was approaching him, but Yolanda as well. They both waved enthusiastically as they jogged over to Lonewolf. Yolanda was almost in tears as she approached Lone. "I knew it..!" She choked, "I always knew you were that person in my dreams! The one who would free us from Kratos' tyranny!" Tears of joy streamed down her cheeks as she suddenly hugged Lonewolf, kissing him multiple times on the cheek as she held him tightly.

Bogey just stood at his full 3' height as he puffed out his tubby little chest. He was very proud of Lonewolf, as he just smiled warmly at him while Yolanda held him. "Good job, m'boy. I knew you could do it." He stated proudly. "Were you guys watching the entire fight?" Asked Lonewolf as he gently released Yolanda from himself. Yolanda smiled and nodded, "Everyone was! All of Cliffside Village was watching the battle from the distance." She pointed to the west. Lonewolf followed the direction she was pointing at and could see the enormous crowd of peasants in the distance. They were all standing at the outskirts of the village, cheering and hugging each other.

"You're a hero, m'boy." Said Bogey with a warm tone in his voice. "We will never forget what you've done for us today." Yolanda nodded in agreement as she looked at Lonewolf in the eyes, "Never." She said, her voice expressing how grateful she was as she said that. Just then, an audible hiss could be heard from below them...

Looking down, Lonewolf could see Neko in her cat form by his boots, hissing at Yolanda. "I think she's jealous...heh." Lonewolf blushed a bright red. "Is master Lonewolf feeling well?" Chimed Violet, still atop Lonewolf's shoulder as she placed a little hand on the side of his forehead, "Master Lonewolf's complexion has changed into a deep red!" Lonewolf scratched the back of his head embarrassingly as Yolanda and Bogey began laughing.

"Are you 'Lone Wolf'?" Interrupting their awkward moment, a very large, white haired, white bearded man clad in black demonic armor and a flowing dark red cape stood before them. His facial features resembled that of Hajimate's as he eyed Lonewolf with his bright red eyes. Lonewolf regained his composure immediately as he turned to regard the regal figure. "Yes." He stated respectfully.

The bearded man bowed his head down in a display of respect, "My name is Kain Kenise. I wanted to formally thank you for aiding my son and my late nephew in putting an end to my twisted brother's tyranny." He looked up at Lonewolf after bowing and nodded, "You have my gratitude, human. I am in your debt. If there is anything I can do to repay you..." Lonewolf paused for a moment as he looked at Yolanda, then Bogey, then back at the Kain. "A life-long alliance between your army and my guild?" Kain smiled warmly and nodded, "Of course."

"And a peace treaty...to end all war on Croatia for the next thousands of years." Just then, a majestic, beautiful, blue haired and blue eyed woman wearing all white approached them. Pana Sulia by her side, as well as a blue haired, blue eyed young man with short, bowl-cut hair and a white, long haired, blue eyed young girl. The boy was clad in crude, leather armor and bear fur, he glanced at the others insecurely as he rubbed his fingers along his very large great axe's handle, which was rested upside down and propped up like a staff. The blade of the axe caked in blood, obviously from the many demons he fell with it. The young girl wore similar clothing as the majestic looking woman, a long, flowing white dress with frills, she had a rapier hung in a sheath by her side.

Kain bowed respectfully to the majestic woman. "Ahh, Lucilia Sulia. I am in your debt as well, for aiding in this battle with your reinforcements." Lucilia waved her hand aside, "Now now, Kain. There are no need for formalities amongst friends. You may call me 'Luci' like you always do. It has been so many years since we've spoken...are you well?" Kain nodded wryly as he cracked his back a bit, "Sitting in that chair for so many years was hell on my back, but other then that I am fine. Thank you for your concern, Luci." He smiled warmly, "But if you don't mind me asking...how on earth were you convinced to lead your clan into battle? From what I was aware of, you're clan derived on peace and harmony."

Lucilia nodded as she returned Kain's smile, "I was promised by your son that if we aided in the attack, you would agree to my peace terms." Kain chuckled to himself. Usually Hajimate was the rebellious and irresponsible one out of his two sons. It amused him to find his son take the initiative for once and speak out for his people. That boy will be a great king. He thought to himself.

Kain nodded respectfully, "I agree to your terms, Luci. If my son truly promised you that, then I shall honor his promise. I shall write a treaty of mutual peace across the land and get it signed by the various clans and kingdoms of the area." Just then, Hezrou approached the group, "You can't possibly be serious, father?!" He had been listening to the conversation a short distance away from them the entire time. "Allying ourselves with these half-breed scum! That's absolute madness!" Lucilia, along with her two daughters and son all glared at Hezrou after he said that.

"These 'half-breed scum' managed to wipe out a good number of our soldiers, son. It would be foolish to do otherwise. Besides, this island has suffered enough under Kratos' reign, we could all use a break from the violence and wars for awhile, wouldn't you agree?" Hezrou sucked in his teeth, "Tch...fine." Kain turned to regard Lucilia once again, "I apologize on behalf of my son's forked tongue, Luci. He still has much to learn about leadership and the difference between 'right' and 'wrong'." He glared at his son after saying this, who in turn just looked the other way.

"I accept your apology, Kratos. Your son does, indeed, need to learn how to respect others. I am glad that we have come to an agreement on this treaty. You shall be hearing from me soon." She turned to regard her children, "Come, Pana, Moku, Felicia, let us return home." As she said this, the young boy and girl followed Lucilia as she walked away...except Pana. "Pana..? Are you coming, dear?" Pana didn't turn to regard her mother. "No, mother. I'm not." Lucilia seemed shocked, "What..?!" Pana turned to regard her mother, "I wish to stay with Lonewolf and the others! They are my friends!"

Lucilia looked over at Lonewolf, then back at her daughter. After a few moments, she smiled warmly, revealing her true beauty with that smile, "I understand." She said warmly. She then looked over at Lonewolf, "You there...take care of my daughter. Keep her safe." Lonewolf bowed his head respectfully, "With my life, ma'am." Lucilia smiled at Lonewolf, "You are very brave...for a human." With that, she turned and walked away with her two children following her.

Kain nodded at Lonewolf, "Right then. We'll be going as well. It was a pleasure meeting you, Lonewolf. I can see now why my son is so fond of you." He looked over at his son who was still standing by Kaze's grave. "I trust that you will take care of him better then I. You are now granted free access to our kingdom in the forest. You and your...'dragoons' are welcome there from now on." He smiled then began walking away, as he did so, he slapped his son, Hezrou's shoulder. Hezrou just sneered at Lonewolf as he turned to follow his father to their mounts. They lead what remained of the pure blooded demonic army back to the forest, the bodies of their dead stacked onto a few wagons as they left the clearing.

"So that's that." Said Bogey Baglebottom as they watched the demons leave the area. "I must say...that went much better then I thought it would. Perhaps I have misunderstood these demons." Lonewolf nodded slowly, "Yeah..." flashbacks of beastly demons raiding the village of Brigadine filled his mind. All this time, Lonewolf thought that demons were nothing more then savage, evil beasts...and then he met Hajimate and Kaze, changing everything he thought he knew about demons in an instant. It was quite ironic...never in his wildest dreams did Lonewolf ever think he would actually ally himself with demons to win a war.

"Lonewolf." Snapping Lone from his trance was none other then the druid elder himself, Rastus, accompanied with Jorgemund and Celes. "Great messenger of 'The Creator'!" The three of them knelt down respectfully. "Creator..?" Bogey chimed as he looked over at Lone. Lonewolf looked over at Bogey and signaled him to stay quiet. "What will you have us do? Now that the battle is over?" Asked Rastus as he remained kneeling. Lonewolf smiled warmly and placed his hand down on Rastus' shoulder, "Go home. The war is over and peace has been restored to this land...thanks to you all." Rastus bowed lower, "We...we are not worthy of such praise!" Lonewolf knelt down and gently gestured for Rastus to rise, "You are more then worthy to receive such praise. Thank you all...I am in your debt." Rastus regarded Lonewolf with childlike awe.

"We are grateful to receive such praise from the messenger of 'The Creator'. Thank you...Lonewolf. If you ever need aid from us again, just let us know." He almost seemed to be in tears as he said this. With one last bow from the three elders, they turned away to gather their druids and leave. "We're going to get going too." Said Bogey. "You obviously have a lot of 'cleaning up' to do. We'll leave you to it, come now Yolanda." Bogey began walking away. Yolanda regarded Lonewolf with deep respect and gratitude, she leaned in and kissed Lonewolf gently on the lips, then turned and jogged back alongside Bogey who was already a good distance away from them. Leaving the dumbfounded Lonewolf behind.

"What a day..." Sighed Lonewolf as he stretched his limbs and yawned. "I'm beat." His body was still aching from the duel with Jago...though Lonewolf still had no idea where that sudden burst of power came from. Who knows..? He thought with a shrug. Whatever it was...it saved Majik's life. Poor Majik... Thought Lonewolf. Majik really despised Jago and used that hatred to fight him...but now that Jago was dead...he seemed a bit lost. He looked over at Majik who was now kneeling beside Aerial's grave. He'll eventually go back to his normal self. Thought Lonewolf. He turned to regard his own fallen men, who were still being sorted out among the grass by the surviving dragoons.

"Every dragoon will receive a proper burial!" He commanded. "Let's start digging their graves." He said remorsefully. The dragoons obeyed their leader's command as they rushed into the guild to grab a few shovels. War is a painful thing. Thought Lonewolf. So many good men died during this battle...but their deaths were not in vain. Each and every dragoon that lost their lives today will receive the proper burial they deserve...

It was the least he could do.

Chapter 36: A New Island and New Friends

Dear Journal,

It has been 3 years since our battle with Kratos' army. The guild has been prospering since we've gained our new allies. New buildings, farms, and even blacksmiths have been built around the main guild building over the years. Lonewolf's Dragoons has grown quite notorious as well, as people seem to regard this guild now as a guild of the heroes who saved Croatia from the evil that inhabited it. My dream had finally come true and now my name has been written in the history books. Despite the way Stephanie broke up with me, I really think she would've been proud of me...

Anyway, a number of guild members have joined our ranks since the historic battle, replenishing our small forces and helping us build an army of our own. With the extra buildings, we've been able to accommodate these new comers quite well. Building our member count well into the hundreds. Amongst our new soldiers, a few of them are somewhat noteworthy:

Beatrice Drago - A beautiful, long, black, wavy haired, Romanian woman at the age of 21 and standing at the height of 5'5'', with breathtaking turquoise eyes. She uses a halberd as her weapon of choice, due to her many travels as a lone sea pirate, which is indicated by her crude leather armor of choice, frilly blouses, etc. She's a master fisher..woman, a loyal mercenary, and an excellent warrior. Some of the dragoon members have nicknamed her "Berserk Dragoon" according to her tempermental nature during the heat of battle. She has a bad habit of "accidentally" injuring some our members in sparring matches. Despite those faults, she can be quite the formidable fighter and is worth mentioning.

Clowde Brice - Age 20 and standing at the height of 5'7'', he's a smart young man, loyal, has high morals, and an adventurous personality. If it wasn't for his head always being "up in the clouds", he would actually have the potential to be one of the best. He has blond, straight, short hair that splits in the middle as his bangs fall beside his green eyes. He always wears his sky-blue torso and shoulder armor with golden embroidery along the chest area, dark blue baggy slacks, brown leather knee high boots, brown leather straps around his biceps and numerous golden bangles that fall over his forearms. His weapon of choice is a 4' samurai katana, which he wields with expertise. He is a traveling swordsman who wished to stay with the guild for awhile. Though something tells me he really likes it here and might possibly stay amongst the dragoons' ranks.

Alexander Michel - A 24 year old Italian young man who stands at about 5'5'' in height. This guy is built like a wall of bricks, with bulging muscles, black, bowl-cut hair, with wild, thick stubble, facial hair that covers his entire chin, cheeks, neck, and moustache area. A very jovial fellow, this one...actually reminds me a lot of Kamikalo sometimes, though he's a bit on the arrogant side as well. He's a free spirited vagabond who wears regular, peasant clothing. Light brown shirt, beige slacks, dark brown leather boots, etc. His weapon of choice is....none other then his fists. I have no idea how he does it, but he can cause light explosions with his fists upon impact....almost like dynamite. It's quite an interesting trick...though I think gunpowder is involved. Alex and Kamikalo love sparring with each other as well. Both being martial arts experts, it seems like the two are definitely a "match made in heaven". Kami seems genuinely interested in this fellow....if you know what I mean.

Also, Shadowkite is now an official member of the guild. The young girl, now 17, has matured into quite the fighter. Though she hasn't admitted it, I can tell that the kid looks up to me. Always looking at me with those childlike, pale purple eyes...it's quite flattering, I must admit.

Majik is back to his old, tresure-hunting self. When Aerial died, it was the first time the kid had experienced the true pain of loss. He eventually moved on with his life and now he ventures into the forest with his new friend, Derek, every now and then, as the two of them search for valuable artifacts.

Hajimate is still a loyal member of the guild and has even took the liberty in training some of our dragoon members in the art of wizardry, though I can tell that something is bothering him. Perhaps it's all the peace and harmony in the land...he seems very bored. It wouldn't be long before he eventually leaves the guild and goes traveling around the world, I fear.

Angelus Domini has gotten quite comfortable with the guild over the years. He goes back and forth from the druid village to this guild every now and then and has even become quite the farmer. He never was much of the fighting type, which was why he didn't take part in the battle against Kratos' army. It's a shame too...he's quite skilled with that staff of his. I've sparred with him a few times myself, and he's actually not bad. I've tried to get him to train more, but he'd rather just tend to the crops around the guild, so whatever I guess. To each their own.

Pana Sule(as she prefers to be called) and I have grown somewhat close over the years, much to Neko-Meww's dismay. She is a good friend, and the two of us enjoy our time together. Though I'm not ready for another relationship I don't think. So I'm just happy to be her friend...sadly however, I think she wants to be more then friends, but I'm afraid I can't give that to her just yet.

Though peace has been restored to the land, I can't help, but feel as though something...BIG..is going to happen. I can't quite explain it. My nightmares of Mortamus have gotten worse and worse over the years. I have no idea why I keep dreaming of him...the Mortamus in my dream is always clad in the same golden armor, and is....extremely insane. I've dreamed of massacre after massacre, Mortamus killing innocent people, taking over various towns and villages. I do not know why these images keep haunting my dreams every night. Perhaps the attack on Brigadine, Stephanie's break up and the battle against Kratos' army is all just getting to me. After Stephanie died, I've been thinking about her a lot...just the other day I was sifting through my belongings and stumbled upon an old photo of Stephanie and I when we were together.

I have no idea where that photo came from...I was certain that the only photo I had of her was within this silver locket I always carry with me. Even during my travels under Cpt. Vega's crew, I don't remember ever having that photo amongst my belongings....where did it come from? I gave myself a headache trying to figure this out, so whatever. I framed it at first and placed it on the desk in my office...but looking at the photo on a daily basis was far too painful...so I got rid of the frame and just placed the photo in one of my desk's drawers. I still can't get over the fact that she committed suicide...perhaps she really did care about me, and after she broke up with me she regretted it. That is highly likely...and I can't help but feel as though it were my fault that she killed herself. I didn't try hard enough to get back with her...I should have never left Brigadine.

I live with this regret every day now...that's probably where all these disturbing dreams are coming from...I don't know.

As for myself, I still have no idea where that sudden burst of power came from when I fought Jago. It's beginning to bother me...I've been doing a lot of research with the help of the ever-loyal Violet, but we've found nothing. I've even had Violet take a small portion of my blood and tell me what condition my body was and there were no anomalies whatsoever. I don't know...maybe it was just a burst of inner strength or something. Locke used to tell me how sometimes I would just hit twice as hard out of nowhere whenever we sparred together.

Locke...I miss my old teacher/father. I wonder how he's been doing after all these years..?

Anyway, other then that, I've been doing okay. This leadership business is beginning to get kind of tough, to be honest. I'm considering an outfit change....perhaps something a little more...formal. Though I have no idea what I should wear, so until I figure that out, I suppose I'll continue wearing my usual casual-wear clothes for now. I've grown quite fond of this outfit, to be honest. A white frilly shirt with a black leather, open vest, my navy blue slacks and knee-high black leather boots and black fingerless gloves and of course, the silver locket with a picture of Stephanie, which I never remove from my neck...even when I bathe. Yes...these clothes and I have been through so much...it will be hard to depart with them when the time comes.

Our blacksmiths, with the help of Bogey Baglebottom, have also fashioned a new type of metal for the dragoons to use. We are not sure what to call it yet, though it is far stronger and more durable then the average steel blade. With this new metal, we have upgraded the dragoons' signature silver armor and created new, stronger weapons for the dragoons to use. I, myself, have even obtained a brand new rapier that wouldn't break as easily as it did during my fight with Jago. So that was definitely an improvement. We have also been manufacturing some heavy artillery to use, such as cannons. I know that we are at peace with the various kingdoms and clans of Croatia, however that doesn't mean that we wouldn't be attacked from outside sources. So we have been preparing ourselves regardless, just in case something like that does happen.

Hmm, I suppose I should end this journal entry now and get back to my usual rounds. Farewell for now, journal.
