Missed it last night, after all - I'll try to see it tonight. I love the Face of Boe, he's extremely cool. cool 3nodding

I loved those Cat-Nuns, too, Eirwyn - they were really great! biggrin

i saw both of those episodes Eirwyn, or maybe some of both of them, as i don't remember seeing the Face of Boe before, he was extremely cool though..

i wonder what the message will turn out to mean!

one thing that i notice with the new shows, the interior of the Tardis has been changed radically, not only does the centre console no longer have the uppy-downy bit in the middle, i used to love watching that move when i was small!

but during the Tom Baker era it had rooms branching off the central area, there were stairs and further floors!
So i wonder what made them go for the quite organic look the inside has now, and what seems to be just that one room.
i know that the Tardis is a living thing and grows, which is probably why they've gone for the current look, with reminds me a lot of Moya on Farscape, part of me thinks it would have been fun if they'd recreated the look we're all familiar with though cool

ooh! i just noticed the no daleks decal by the door rofl

rofl And is that a decal of the Doctor above it? I see a brown coat....
They haven't explained the change, but if Gallifrey has been destroyed there won't be an Eye of Harmony to power his TARDIS any more.
I think all the changes in the TARDIS are down to the Time War...the TARDIS was damaged or simply needed a massive overhaul to keep her alive & running after the destruction of the Eye of Harmony. Notice in the 1st season especially you hear the Doctor making references to using all kinds of alternate power sources to get around, collecting energy at the Rift in Cardiff in "Boom Town", or telling Rose about how he intends to go ride a supernova's shock wave to get across the galaxy. And the console definately has a ramshackle, cobbled-together look now--he even pounds on controls with a hammer or uses tire-pumps & such to set destinations! I imagine there's everything from normal solders to chewing gum & string holding her together these days. And he may have had to sacrifice most of the internal architecture of the ship in order to keep the living part going.
He definately still has his wardrobe room, though! smile

I finally saw this weekend's Face of Boe episode, Gridlock. It's OK, Eirwyn, my lips are sealed… except to say, Woot! I'm loving this new series! biggrin wink

I love the Tardis's new organic look, I must say, I think it's rather beautiful.

Oh, and I finally caught the Christmas special - Runaway Bride - on YouTube. It was very good. I think I missed it at the time for a good reason, but I was also a bit suspicious, because of Catherine Tate being in it - comedian + the Doctor = potential disaster, as in the P. Kay fiasco - but it was good.

And finally, I thought you might like to see my try at "Martha":

i was doing some reading up on Wiki and various other fansites about the Tardis, got to say i'm impressed with the amount of thinking that went into the history and running of the craft!

don't think any show would make such an effort these days, but because they have so much info to fall back on, we keep getting these little bits of history popping up in the show.

and that's a great Martha Alleira 3nodding

Thank you for the approval of Martha! xd TekTek was a little booger, though… I had her all finished, went to save, and it happily informed me that feature wasn't working just now… Needless to say, I couldn't get back to the previous page with the completed avatar on it, and had to redo her from scratch… stare At least the second time around, I knew all the items I was after, so just had to scroll through, re-assembling her… lol

I do love the care and attention paid to the Tardis, and the massive knowledge base about the history and workings of it… it's part of what makes the show so successful, I think, the integrity of it all … and the sheer enthusiasm and love of the fans, who really care about it all.

I love how the Doctor is pining for Rose in the new series, it gives the story authenticity… she hasn't just been brushed away as "last season". I liked her, I must say, and it's nice to see that more adult approach to it… he really cared about this companion, and his time-travelling life is so lonely. neutral

This is not my season for Dr. Who!
I missed the first one because I was in Clacton.
I missed the second because I was on a date.
I saw the third though! ^^

Will they repeat the series maybe this summer?

i'm not sure if they repeat them or not, if they do it's likely to be the middle of the night..

got to say thought, it's great that they're showing it in the correct time slot, early Saturday evening always used to be the time for a family show, and it's nice to see one there again.
not tucked away on BBC2 on a Tuesday or some such insult.

Looks nice! smile
Last year everybody in the DWG was running around in the Pinstripe Suit & sneakers. When the pics of him in red, white & blue came out, we were all irked--some downright outraged. mrgreen The brown set really does look so much better on him.

I noticed recently there are now 5 DW guilds on Gaia. Ours is still the biggest by far & probably way more active.
