there are always similarities with giant robot anime, but Eureka Seven is quite different and seems more interesting that i ve seen

i think there are similarities but they are very different
the robots in E7 are "alive"-ish... like eureka can talk to it
in gundam they are robots man made not dug up

I know this thread is almost a month dead now, but I just wanted to say that I did not think of EVA, Gundam, or any other series brought up in this while watching Eureka Seven.

I did think of Escaflowne. I found myself watching Escaflowne the other day, and found the two are very similar. I won't argue anything for it, since I'm not even a big fan of Escaflowne and don't know it well, but I did catch some similarities.

Of course, BONES is in the credits of both, so....

I do not know if this was said already, but......

Eureka Seven is not a Mecha anime. Can you watch that show and continously think "Mecha"? Thought so. Want to know why? Because the LFOs are so miniscule in the anime. The story of the anime does not revolve around robots. So yea.

Time for my 2 cents! Being a die hard Gundam fan since I was... ehm... Well, for most of my life. Gundam and Eureka Seven aren't similar. The only similarity I can think of is that the good guys use beam weapons. But alas, Heavyarms+longboard=100% pwnage.

I really dont see any similarities between the two. The robot designs are very different.

Thats not entirely true however...as the Nirvash plays a gigantic role in the storyline.

But the fact remains, Eureka Seven is nowhere close to Gundam!

Plus I must add my own little comment...

I've never heard of the mechs in Gundam to be living creatures with armor (like the LFOs and KLFs with their Archetypes and all)

Nothing alike the entirety of the concept is different . The purpose of eureka 7 is to be a love story, gundam is ususally just volience and action. I hate to break it to you but sugar and salt look white but put one another in your mouth and you'll see the difference. The closest thing i can think of would be Heroic Age fopr the living being looking like mechas alsome action and great interplanetray romance.

there both mechas but thats about it...and there are a few romances in gundam but not in the eureka seven way
