I played TPW and Rollercoaster tycoon but Theme Park original still has a special place in my heart lol (sad I know).
I recently dug out theme hospital too and the humour in it still makes me smile. I was hoping to get my daughter to play it but it was a bit too involved, she has a couple of zoo ones that are aimed at a slightly younger age group that she plays though.

scream scream scream scream DIABLO IS NOT A RPG scream scream heart heart wink

it's a hack & slash game with ELEMENTS of a RPG game 3nodding

What I actually meant was they were my all time favourite games - regardless of what genre they come from. Cleary the sentence that sparked that over reaction gave the wrong impression but I don't consider the Diablo games rpg's.

I'm hoping to buy Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin when I get some wages from my new (possibly only temp) job, the rom doesn't work on my supercard & to be honest I'm an item snob anyway.

How much sense does it make to fine you for being disappointing as it means you have no money to make it less disappointing rofl

good strategy is to make your park grow slowly
at the start pay back the debt you have, make as much rides as you can and ALWAYS keep your money level above 0 ...
it's slow but it works xD

i haven't been able to develop any form of strategy yet, apart from doing what i used to in the original game, wander round the park getting rid of all the needless statues, and so on that i can gain cash for, taking out most of the paths so people can't wander off into undeveloped areas, increasing the ride capacity on any ride that's already present, usually by extending the platform so i can get more cars on.
or if it's just shite then demolish it altogether! then keep putting ride admission prices up until they start moaning that it's too much.

the biggest problem i have with it is the fact that you can't charge admission fees to the parks as you can on most of the parks on RCT2.
and when you complete your first objective, instead of something handy like a wad of cash, you get a new ride design instead! gee, that's just great when i have no cash to buy it! rolleyes

I haven't played any of the RCT games, but one strategy I remember learning in TP was to place the exit of one ride so it leads right to the entrance of another, so your guests just naturally go into it.

yes, that worked well on the first 2 RCT games, but they've intentioally changed the gameplay for the 3rd one.

i went looking for help pages online because i was having so much trouble with it, and found a statement saying'any previous stategies you have formed wont work for RCT3' crying

i want to go and play on it now ! i'm determined to finish this one park i'm playing on but am forever grinding to a halt on it!

it's some fright night thing aimed at teens, all the rides are goth/vamp style things. the park's open from 2PM to 2AM and it rains the whole time it's dark! and i did drown a few people last time i played it ninja that doesn't seem to effect the game though twisted

The teens probably thought that made it more Goth & creepy having people actually die in the park. rolleyes Of course, the people in these games are pretty apathetic about what happens to themselves or each other. When people got whipped off my rollercoasters in TP they'd practically go into orbit sometimes (or fly straight at you), but I'd always find them wandering around on the very back edge of the park, disoriented & annoyed, nothing more. lol

I hate it when a good series suddenly decides to completely change how you play. Don't they realise the gameplay is part of the appeal? It might as well be a different series. They did that to Phantasy Star 3; the story doesn't match up to the world & continuity in 1 & 2, all the monsters are new, & the gameplay is different. The saving grace of the game is the interesting fact that it spans generations & you essentially create the next hero by deciding who the current hero will marry, and ultimately your choices will affect the powers of the final hero who goes up against the end boss. There are several possible heroes you could get to play & the storyline is affected by each choice, with I think 3 possible finales. That's pretty cool, but the game just doesn't feel much like a Phantasy Star game...& in this case it was because the developers were different. I think Team Sonic created the original PS & they got dragged off to make a new Sonic game or something. :X Team Sonic came back to make 4 at least & they made an awesome, long game with all the cool stuff we loved in the original games plus a lot more! heart
