You know what would be cool? If we came up with something that represents chivalry that we could all wear IRL

I'm also working on a sig for it

I am soo TIRED of women crying about how some men have decided that they should be nice and help out!!! Honestly I don't mind having a door opened, or helped out of a car, or have someone help me over rough terrain (like mud in my heels). How would you feel if you mother taught you to be assertive and ready to help, and you spend x amount of years learning, and some person verbally slaps aside your help.
I am part of the SCA (Society for Creative Anachromism) and I find it refreshing to have a place/group where I know I will not be condescended upon for being a woman, but be respected. CHIVALRY WORKS BOTH WAYS!!!!!! You see a person in need and you help. It's not about "women are weak and need to be protected". It's more about "Let's see how we can help others on thier way".
Women; Build a bridge and GET OVER IT!! Not all men are scum sucking masogynists. Why don't YOU try and help out?
Men: Not all women are bra-burning, feminine mystic, "men must die because they think they rule the world", brainwashed hussies. Some of us appreciate the kindness.

I am all for a chivalry guild!

I borrowed this from the Order of the Rose
The Basic Tenets of the Modern Chivalric Code:

1. All people deserve courtesy and respect.
2. All people deserve to be judged by thier actions and character, not by generalizations like sex, race, or religion.
3. All people are to be valued as individuals, and thier opinions respected.
4. Romantically: two partners shoud always try to fulfill the other in any way they can which is not harmful to themselves, it is a reciprocal, taking care of each other, communicating and loving.
5. Courtesy: Holding doors, pulling out chairs, etc. is a sign of respect and manners, and should be done for all people as a sign of cosideration
6. Speech: One shoud always try to keep thier cool, and speak respectuflly, thus avoiding arguments.
7. Keep an open mind.
8. Defend the honor of thy self, thy love, they friends, and those who can not defend themselves. I any of the aforementioned are hostily insulted or attacked, always fight back, but try to avoid starting fights yourself.

I like it.

Yay, I'm on the sig! Can I join this guild?
I went to EFY and it was so nice, I thought my b/f was a gentleman, and he is, but it was unreal how great the boys were there. The escourted us, opened doors, took our plates and served food. How sweet. I told my boyfriend about it and now he's determined to be more chivalrous than ever!
However, chivalry goes both ways. Just as women should expect men to be polite and respectful, men should expect women to be accepting and deserving of respect, and should show gratitude. I love how gender roles compliment eachother like two peices of a jigsaw puzzle.

heey... i want to be in the siggy too... i'm all for chivalry! i personally feel that men and women can be treated differently in some ways, because we are different. we can't be truly equal unless we are built the exact same way. our physical bodies are built for different purposes, and men are naturally better at some things, and women are naturally better at others. men and women are both to be treated with respect, and chivalry is a great way for men to show respect. but even though we are different, we are to be treated as equals in some aspects. i'm partially a 3rd wave feminist, meaning i think that women should be able to do some things men do, but don't have to, like a woman can be a chemist or CEO or be a mom, they have the ability to chose whatever, and their options shouldn't be restricted. ok, i'm done rambling now, GO CHIVALRY
