Well most likely it'll take place before that lovely timeskip that has Christine dead. After all.. [SPOILER, HIGHLIGHT IF YOU WANT TO READ] Christine does die at the end of PoM. She was killed. [END SPOILER] Really there are a lot of ways to get around those, especially since Webber doesn't care. In his original musical there's no death expect for Buquet's and Piangi's.

PoM was the sequal that Forsyth wrote after discussing it with Webber. That's what the musical sequal is going to be based upon.
I have no idea why Webber did it. I'm more or less convinced it was some lame romantic symbolism Schumacher wanted to throw in.

(er...Uta? sequel is spelled with two e's. I think someone already said that, sorry!)

Because Webber helped write it and he likes the story, I assume that'd be why.
And I know how it's spelled. I simply prefer to spell it with an a instead of the second e.

Ok. But I didn't know he helped write it! (once again, feels degraded as a Phan for not knowing these things.)

God, no, Erik help us all. Webber is going to defile everything PoTO. I hope something goes horribly wrong and they have no choice but to abort the mission.

What's been bothering me the most lately, is that he acts as though he CREATED the story-- as though he personally invented The Phantom of the Opera-- and it all came into existance starting with the play. If he had done so, then I would be fine. A creator, original creator, can alter whatever it is that they have brought into the world for better or for worse. But this isn't HIS to tamper with. Its not HIS story's reputation. His play creating reputation perhaps, but once a story is tarnished and related to by the avaerage person for that tarnish, it is forever destroyed beyond repair.

I wouldn't even tolerate it if it were something else. There's no need for a sequel.
