Tommy grinned, shyness was better than being feral he supposed. He pretended to ignore the erupting neck sacks, knowing the poor guy probably couldn't help it. He likened it to his inability to control his echolocation. The bat-man nodded a few times, "Hell, I know what you mean by that. I've never been good at that sort of thing either."
"But of course, she'll never know unless you tell her..."

"I.... I... I've t-t-t-t-truh-tried!" It felt strange sitting here talking about these sorts of things with the bat man. Newt rarely had "girl troubles", and therefor inexperienced in "Guy talk" so to speak. He swallowed, glancing about nervously as though there was somewhere else he should have been. It was good to talk to people, though. It kept him thinking clearly. "KrrIIIT! Ah... I... I t-try b-but it j-just... I j-just... it c-comes out... y-you know... l-like... like a..." He rubbed his throat where the sacks had thankfully deflated.

"Word vomit, yeah...yeah," he chuckled, "Yeah, I know about that." Tommy nodded a few times as he shifted his weight from his right wing/hand to the left. "Well, s**t...I dunno, man. But...I mean, do you really want her to only see you in your swamp? 'cause...if you really want to get to know someone...yaknow...like that...you're going to have to get out of your comfort zone...A leap of faith, if you will."

Tommy blinked, not knowing just what to say to that. The frog had the batman in this one. "Well...if you're not comfortable anywhere...then what's stopping you from going to her?"

"I'm... I'm... ah..." He flattened himself down on his belly again, feeling safer in his squat froggish crouch. "Es-es-especially not c-com-comfortable... w-w-where there's... krrrIIT... ah... in... in the v-v-village." He left it at that.

Tommy sighed. While it wasn't useless to try and get him into the village again, it would more than likely do more harm than good. He nodded a few times, "Alright, alright..."
He glanced around and then looked down, dejected, "You know...she hasn't changed yet...and it's been over three weeks...when I talked to her, she seemed really scared about it too..."

The frog man glanced up, bulbous eyes widening as he cocked his head, "Sh-sh-she... she hasn't?" Memories of the graveyard on Halloween came back to mind.... death due to complications. Complications. Emerwyn had changed so slowly, though.... and she was alright. Maybe Dee would be alright too? She had to be alright! She would be alright. His breathing quickened, an anxious whistle escaping his thick throat and he nearly leaped into the water right then and there but managed to catch himself and sit down again. Change the subject, change the subject. He cocked his head the other way, looking Tommy over curiously with one spherical eye. "Is... is it b-b-bad... th-that I ... I'm hoping sh-she's... y-you know... amphibious? D-do you th-think?"

Tommy watched as Newt's froggy face went through some very human emotions. He suddenly wished he hadn't brought it up. This guy didn't need any more anxiety than he already had. Nervously, Tommy shifted weight from one wing/hand to the other...anxiety about Dee creeping into his own mind. He shook his head to try and clear the thought before looking back to Newt. "Hmm? Oh...no...no, I don't think so. I mean...there are much...much worse things you could get, yaknow? But..." he shrugged, "I mean...*sigh* it's an inevitablility around here...it'd be foolish to hope she stays human...so...no..." he gave a small smile, "no, I think it's alright."

Then at least maybe she would recognize his calls and make things a lot easier in the long run.

Tommy thought back to his meeting with Dee...and he grinned. No, he highly doubted she'd rather become something cute and cuddly. "Bah...soft and nice's overrated anyway. But really though...what if she doesn't? Will that stop you from trying to...talk to her?"

He looked down at his hands, mulling through froggish impulses and Newtish impulses in an attempt to sort out which was which. "I d-don't know her ver-ver-very well..." He murmured after a bit, "B-but... krrIIT! I... I " He opened his mouth and closed it with another useless croak. She made him feel comfortable. She made it easier to talk about things. "I... I haven't s-seen her... s-since... since m-my ah..." He raised a hand to rub at his sore snout, frowning.

Tommy frowned, not quite knowing what Newt was talking about. The day he got that wound? Or...the day he changed? He nodded a few times in 'understanding' anyway, if only to try and make the frog-man feel more comfortable. He knew that that was near impossible for him when dealing with Newt...but...he had to try.
"Well...I dunno, man. Maybe you should go try and find her...or not..." he said with a sigh, "All I know is that it's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all."

Newt swallowed, nodding timidly. The bat was right. He had p***y-footed around with Natsumi, and she didn't want to give him the time of day. Obviously, that tactic didn't work. Be assertive. Be aggressive. She is the grub. Go for the grub. "R... right..."

Tommy wasn't sure if he had gotten through to Newton or not...he sure as hell hoped so. He hated to see good people make a situation worse than it had to be. Tommy nodded a few times before sitting down, giving his wing/hands a rest. He stretched them out a few times, shaking what little water was left on them out onto the grass. "So...what're you going to do now?"
