In a way I can see certain reasons why women arent allowed in certain situations, what with the monthly visitor and all. However I do believe they should be opened to more stuff then they already have.

I personally don't want to go into the military myself, but there's no reason that women who want to shouldn't be allowed to. We deal with that sort of thing all the time, and combat situations don't really make a difference. stare

I really dont think every day situations can be compared to full combat where you can be in the mud or sand or other highly unsanitary positions.

I'm sorry, I still don't see what that has to do with anything. Being a female doesn't mean you won't get dirty when the situation requires it. Actually, being a female, the only thing you can't do that males can is lifting very heavy weights, but that's not really necessary.

It's called visiting your boyfriend's house.
I can actually see women as better fighters in combat. I mean, if you've dealt with your period since you were 12, combat isn't really going to effect it much more. Not to mention with all the extra excercise, it wouldn't happen that often anyway.
I always thought they didn't put women on the fronts lines because they were a distraction. We've always got tampons, but we can't keep men from being men. *Shrug*

U.S. military women are barred by law from being in units like the infantry and artillery batteries whose job it is to go out and engage the enemy in combat. They're also banned from Special Forces units. This information is readily available on Google. Along with the information that commanding officers in Iraq have gotten into trouble for sending women soldiers out on police patrols that were very likely to run into enemy fire, etc. So yes, women are seeing combat in Iraq because of the lack of a front line, and because the nature of the action is such that any unit can come under fire at virtually any time.. But they are still not permitted to assume positions in units whose primary mode of operation is combat.

It's not just a "they don't put women there" but "women who want to go there are not permitted." The former I wouldn't mind so much but the latter is an issue.
