"M'haal, bonded to bronze Toranth. I saw you Impress, just before my dragon found me."

He turned to offer his steady smile to Layn and incline his head respectfully to her, then to the rest of them. Better be polite as well as friendly, he thought, knowing his odd, slow manners usually gave the impression of a particularly thick drudge...but they were his fellows and he did have his bronze. M'haal took his seat after a moments hesitantion. This seemed to be as good place as any, with so many talking and eating. The movement almost looked practised - just shy of graceful and too careful by far.

"Yes, it's odd being weyrlings now isn't it? But it's a good kind of change. Already I can't imagine not having Toranth."

X'lias shrugged at J'riar's comment. "It also helps that my sister's the Weyrwoman. Being around her and Ariath so much helped me understand thing better. I sort of had a jump start when entering Weyrlinghood, though, let me tell you, Weyrlinghood for a queenrider is much different compared to our own. I'd personally never want to deal with that other stuff."

With that said, X'lias reached over the table and snatch up an apply. He studied the fruit for a moment before biting into it.

"I was better at singing before I hit my seventeenth turn. Round about then, my future started to look a bit shakier. Hard to go from a high pitched singing voice to one much deeper." he gave a playful grin and added "I think people should sing if they enjoy it, good or bad, it's a nice pasttime, relaxing."

He thanked X'lias for the words of encouragement "Wow, you were only thirteen? Nice to meet someone from the other end of things. But yeah, you are right, it's the dragons choice and I'm not one to question it, they know more than we do about who is meant for them from what I gathered on the sands." He certainly felt for X'lias not being able to join the others. Being held back like that would bother anyone. He returned his attention to the discussion of age again and nodded agreement "Yeah. And those robes...totally not designed for someone of our age." he tried to supress a laugh. "I had to look hard to get some that weren't entirely scandalous." At the time it had been cause for massive panic and fretting but now his anxiety just seemed funny.

"Yeah? You might be on to something..." J'riar teased playfully, but looked interested nonetheless. "Bet you learned a whole bunch of stuff..." Come to think of it, he'd never...well, it'd never occured to him that a queenrider's training would be different. But then again, did it surprise him? To be the Weyrwoman and keep everything running smoothly would take a lot of effort.

The bluerider could only shake his head, grinning at Law'r. "It's relaxing all right--can't help but pity the poor people who happen to be around whenever I open my mouth."

J'riar abashedly covered one eye with his free hand, remembering his own disastorous experiences with the candidate robes. "Tell me about it. The best ones I could find were at least three inches short on the arms alone...the length in the back would have put my poor father to shame." Another bemused laugh, this one tinged with mild fondness for the memory, "Was all worth it in the end though, horrible robes or not." Without thinking about it, his eyes unfocused, reaching for Natroth to check on what he was up to. A soft, affectionate smile pulled at his lips, unbidden, when he realized that the blue was slumbering peacefully.

Syleti paused as she eyed the feast, not so much out of shyness as indecision. Which group to thrust herself into first? With a gleam in her eye, she spotted a group of attractive males, and promptly made her way over. "Hello there," she said cheerily as she arrived. "And how are we doing this fine evening?" She grinned at herself, even as a part of her mind was busy wondering at the consciousness she could feel, linked to her own. "Syleti, rider of green Erith. And is it nice to hear that!"

Layn felt quite a bit overwhelmed by all the talking near her and turned her attention fully on M'haal, he seemed more slow-paced and she was sure she could keep up with just one other person.

"I couldn't imagine life without Ireth," she smiled warmly, "Your bronze is lovely, congratulations! We'll be so busy soon. It's nice now to relax and meet others."

Layn's eyes shifted to the girl that joined the group and she nodded an acknowledgement to her before returning her brilliant eyes to M'haal. By nature she had no real need for another female, they got in the way of things that she wanted, and in general were very tiresome with their chatter.

"Ireth? Pretty name. Congradulations to you too." He looked Syleti' way and raised a hand in greeting, thinking it rude to stop talking to Layn everytime someone else joined the growing goup at their end of the celebrations. And by the First Egg, did they have things to celebrate - Impressions new and old.

"I expect we'll all get to know each other well when we're all training together and looking after the dragonets." M'haal looked pleased at the idea. No longer would he be simply doing the normal chores he'd been doing since he arrived at the weyr - now his days would be spent with Toranth...and these other weyrlings. A whole new life now.

Orana spoke to Janista in front of the food table with a smile until the brown interrupted her thoughts. Orana welcomed the interruption from the brown, it was re assuring to know he was still there but she always knew there was always that lingering presence within her mind.

Green Trith's rider comes He told her.

Remia, She thought with a smile, she had been wondering were her friend was. Orana then looked at the brown I thought you were supposed to be napping she teased the dragonet playfully scratching his eye ridge.

I am where ever you are mine, came his reply as he looked up at her with his large blue eyes.

Orana couldn't help but smile communing privately with her Ilorith her life mate. Orana looked around trying to spot Remia amongst the crowd of people and dragons. When she finally did spot Remia she was already walking toward the two “Remia is my friend.” Orana explained Janista then added “Rider of green Trith.”

“Remia,” Orana greeted her friend “Thank you.” She beamed with pride Then she smiled and gave a nod “I believe I understand that now” she replied then gaev the shorter girl a quick friendly hug before standing straight again.

Saeryan strode carefully towards the table where most of the newly Impressed weyrlings converged, picking up a piece of fruit as she neared. Careful not to inadvertently hit someone, she tossed the object into the air a little ways before catching it. True to her nature, the girl's eyes shone in a relaxed, playful way.

"Congrats, you guys!" Shining her fruit on her tunic, she casually took a bite. She wasn't incredibly familiar with anyone in particular, having been one of the last Candidates to arrive for this particular Hatching.

"Why thank you," Syleti replied, giving a little bow in return. Her wide smile lightened any formality the gesture might have had, however. "Why, of course we will, I suspect that's the very idea behind our training. We won't be flying Thread alone, after all!" She looked around at her fellow weyrlings, brown eyes bright. "Don't you think?"

T'bell had taken his post with a few other harpers in providing entertainment. After the hatching he was in high spirits, and Liliath was much the same. Off and on he would provide accompanyment on his flute to those playing while he kept a watchful eye on the new weyrlings and took each one's measure.

A break in the music let him pad down from the stage and over to the table of refreshments, where he gladly snagged himself some wine to soothe his throat. Zephyr's nose warred curiously with T'bells' efforts to drink until the greeenrider barred the way to the blue flitt on his shoulder with a quiet chuckle.

His eyes settled on X'lias for a moment, marking the boy as one to watch. Ariath and Ephia must have been proud. He stood conversing with J'riar, who for his impulsiveness wasn't really a bad sort.

With ears open and one of the tiny tasty pastries in hand T'bell tucked his flute into his belt and wandered amongst the crowd.

K'hin walked slowly around the party, the familar form of Sonia wrapped around his neck the green a bright spalash of color against the plain but sensible colors his grandmother had picked for him. A warm brown shirt with a dark green vest picked with yellow in a geometric design. His pants where brown with a strip of the familar green. It was homey and made him a bit home sick.

His purple blue eyes glanced around, and he pushed his blonde longish hair from his eyes. Where was R'ael? He was so excited and needed to tell someone about Soneth...Though the blue rider probably already knew.

Nevaeh stood just at the entrance of the lower caverns watching the fesivities as she leaned back against one of the walls. She knew so few people here even after how long she had been at the Weyr. She kept to herself and usually only conversed with Javareth. He always tried to con her into talking to someone. A pretty girl walking by or even a handsome male. Today was another day where he was at it again.

Talk to someone Nevaeh love. It's a joyous occasion and you look like a rock poking from the cave wall. Javareth's voice echoed in Nevaeh's mind. She never really liked it when Javareth tried to push her into the crowds. Sure she wanted friends but she still missed her old friends.

Folding her arms over her chest with her flute in hand Nevaeh stayed put and watched all the happy faces and listened to all the excited chatter. 'When I want to converse J, I'll go converse. She replied mentally to her blue.

Javareth snorted mentally in her mind. I know you. You'll never move from there until you get tired and just come back to the weyr.

Oh well.

(Bwahahaha. Nevaeh's just asking to be pestered.)

As gregarious as Syleti could be, someone hanging off by themselves called like a beacon to her. With a cheerful wave at her fellow weyrlings, she filled a plate before walking up to the woman. "Hello!" she greeted, leaning against the wall herself and nibbling on a bit of cheese. "Some party, isn't it...you're a rider, right? I know the Hold and Crafter knots, but I'm still picking up on the Weyr ones."

(And my intent to draw in a rper was met. twisted )

Nevaeh turned her head to look at the girl now standing next to her. She quirked a brow at the girl taking in her appearance taking note of her as one of the new Weyrlings. Nevaeh! Javareth's tone was scolding as he knew her intent was to ignore the girl. Nevaeh cursed inwardly knowing she'd never hear the end of it if she didn't talk to this girl.

"Yeah it is... And yeah I'm a rider. You're one of the new weyrlings right? Impressed a... green?" Nevaeh asked as she placed her flute back into the holder she had for it on her belt.
