Inle sighed in exasperation as she wiped the tomato sauce and fake pasta off her cheek, flinging it into the bowl in disgust before pushing the whole thing away. So much for lunch...maybe he could have cereal. Again. It may not have been the healthiest thing in the world to eat all the time, especially for a baby, but he had to eat something, right? And cereal, she knew, would at least go in his mouth instead of everywhere but.

The knocking on the door came just as Inle was retrieving a box of Froot Loops and she poked her head out of the pantry to look down the hall, torn between going to answer it and needing to feed Cal. She stuck the box on the shelf before turning back to the table, where the toddler was squirming in his high-chair, wanting to go back to his beloved cartoons. He struggled as Inle picked up a towel and gave his hands a face a cursory wipe--he needed a bath later anyway. Cal immediately latched onto her, however, as she lifted him up. She was taking him back to his couch, yay! Only that was not to be, as she walked in the opposite direction.

Inle shifted him on her hip as she opened the door, eyebrows rising in nigh-bemusement as she saw who it was. She knew this kid, he was one of Enoh and Nio's brood! And of course, it was hard to forget rainbow ribbon-laden fairy boys that wandered through life naked. Although he had been considerably smaller when last they met...what did he want? "Naked-boy. This is a surprise. What brings you all the way out here?"

Her arms tightened around Cal as he struggled to get out of Inle's arms. He KNEW this person, he was nice and soft and colorful and smelled like candy and COLORFUL and he wanted down and away from the largely monocromatic mother-figure. Calumet tried to push Inle away from him while making grabby hands at Asrafel all at once, producing lukewarm results as it appeared to be spastic flailing.

Asrafel's grin widened brightly as the door opened, and he breathed a sigh of relief. So they were home, how wonderful! He looked from Inle down to Calumet, and chanced a quick, flighty wave before answering Inle's oddly phrased question. "Oh, hello Miss Inle! I was actually coming to give Calumet a present.."

He pulled his arm around and presented the bright arrangement of carnations; each of them were a different color from the next, settled into a rainbow bouquet that he held out towards Calumet. "..And I was wondering if I could have a visit with him! I've been away for a while, you see.. and well, I haven't seen him in so long. Perhaps I could take him out for a walk, and give you a few moments to yourself? That is, if you don't mind."

Hey, Asrafel brought pretties! Calumet smiled widely as Inle held him within reach of them, and he ignored Inle for the time being, content to grasp at the flowers. They smelled pretty too! Well, that could mean only one thing...

"Cal, take those flowers out of your mouth! They're not for eating!"

Foiled! Cal carefully exctracted the flowers. They were damp, but no worse for wear otherwise. He made a face at the Mommy-person, clutching his flowers tightly.

Inle gave him a warning glance before turning a wary smile on the brightly-colored teen. "Thank you, Asra, that was nice of you." If not a bit odd, she thought to herself. Her smile widened at the Shattered's offer. Never one to turn down a chance to get rid of a kid, if only for a little while, she held Cal closer to Asrafel. "I hardly mind. He's yours for as long as you want him. Just be careful, he's been a pain in the a** all day." She had no problem speaking freely in front of Asra--he was, after all, a teenager, and it wasn't like her own kid was going to repeat anything she said.

Asrafel switched Calumet for the flowers in his hand, and took the boy into a cradled hold, grinning contentedly. "Wonderful! I won't be too long, I thought maybe we could take a walk in the park. I'll leave his flowers with you for now, so that he has them when he comes back home!"

He shifted Calumet in his arms, and looked down at the boy, offering a hand to play with. "It's been a while, hasn't it Cal! Let's go see what we can find at the park, and give mommy a little break!" It sounded like a thoughtful action, and none of the ulterior motives that may have been driving Asrafel's recent actions showed through in the friendly smile. He waved goodbye to Inle and held Calumet's little hand to do the same, before skipping off towards the park with the boy in his arms.

Wresting the flowers from Cal's determined grasp proved an interesting feat, but when all was said and done Inle was holding a bouquet of slightly-battered flowers and Asrafel was holding Calumet, who looked somewhere between outraged that his pretties were taken and overjoyed to be with his bestest friend in the whole wide world who just happened to be equally as bright and pretty. The toddler seemed to giggle silently as Asrafel made his hand wave up and down, up and down, smile widening as Inle made the same motion.

"Take as long as you need. Mommy needs the break," she called after them, watching them head down the walk. Her smile faded as she watched them go, and she leaned against the doorway, wondering if letting her child go off with someone she didn't know all too well was a good idea. Well...it was only Asrafel, right? What's the worst that could possibly happen? That thought in mind, she went back into the house, closing the door behind her.

Asrafel bounced a few steps away before finally bouncing high enough to alight to the air and hovering down the block. He was heading for the park after all, if only because it was the middle of a school day, and therefore relatively empty. He pointed out a few interesting sights on the way there, wondering if Calumet understood exactly what he was saying all the while. Still, it was nice to spend some time with the boy, whether he understood Asrafel's words or not.

"Oh look Cal, we're here! Aren't those pretty flowers, like the ones you have at home? They're a different kind though, those are daffodils!" He fluttered towards the rows of flowers, and took a brief look around. The area was empty, and the colors of the flowers were just bright enough to disguise any weird objects. He settled Calumet down on the flowerbeds, before flopping down himself and sitting in an indian position.

"These are yellow! Do you like yellow, Cal?"

What was this up-in-the-air? First they were walking along and then they were not? They were above the sidewalk, and the street! Calumet wrapped his arms tightly around Asra's neck. Walking in Mommy's arms was fine because she was so short, and walking in Asra's arms was ok because he wasn't much taller, but now they were up! Not far-up like brightly-colored-brother threatened to drop him from, but up enough that he knew falling down would be bad. He watched their shadows, which had lost clarity as they lost contact with the ground, as they whizzed along towards the park.

The park! He knew this place. Loud and boring, although it didn't seem so loud today. Swings and slides and sand, and people hanging from bars. Like Asra, only without wings! Were they going to play on the brightly-colored playground equipment? Apparently not, as Asra sat him in a flowerbed. Cal looked around, happy to be surrounded by such pretty and colors, the rainbows in his eyes seeming to swirl in response. Once Asra settled himself upon the ground, Cal immediately began to crawl towards him, but got distracted by a butterfly that was wandering from flower to flower, oblivious to the creatures invading its living buffet table.

Asrafel giggled, and watched Calumet follow the butterfly, before glancing around furtively once more. There was still no one nearby, so he decided to just get it over with as quickly as possible. He pressed both of his hands on his chest, before the same colorful glow that Shauna and Elle had come to witness now bubbled from his body once more for Calumet's amusement alone. When his hands pulled away from his body, a warmly glowing orb followed, shimmering in all of the colors that surrounded them that very moment.

He held out the globe to Calumet, and smiled warmly. "I knew you'd love to see this, Cal! I saw you make a big ball of colors once yourself, do you remember? Well this is my big blob of colors, and it does something very special.."

He touched the globe with a single digit, and the same finger reached out to run across one of the lines of tattoos that drifted along Calumet's face. The tattoos burst to life, much like they would whenever Cal himself was about to perform some interesting trick, or became overly emotional. The light followed all the way down every line of his tattoos, before slowly fading away.

"There now, little one. Soon, the deepest wish of your soul will be granted." Asrafel's deep voice was hushed, and mellow. He allowed Calumet a moment or two more to view the orb or touch it's surface, before Asrafel's hands guided it back into his body, and it soon disappeared.

((Congratulations, Calumet is now officially on his growth quest! This quest requires a lot from you, his guardian, so be prepared!

Part one of Calumet's Quest involves meeting three Shattered who he has never met before. Part two of Calumet's Quest is a surprise, and will be both revealed ICly and performed by Inle ICly once Part One is completed. Good luck!))

Calumet's attention was drawn once more to Asrafel by the glow that rose from the older boy's chest. The toddler looked on in awe and wonder as he watched his friend grow brighter, more colorful. Hey, that was cool! Normally he would have crawled over to get a closer look, but he was perfectly able to see from where he was and--wow, did that thing come out of Asra's chest? It was so pretty and shiny! Cal clapped his hands over his mouth as if shocked, or stifling a silent "wow!" His friend was just full of surprises!

His hands fell away from his face as he reached instinctively for the glowing globe, though they paused in midair as as Asrafel touched his face. An uncomfortable feeling rolled through him as his power was forced to the fore, and he flailed before scrubbing at his face, willing the discomfort to go away. Sure enough, it did as soon as he stopped fighting it, and he shook his head as his markings glowed, forgetting all about it almost immediately. Calumet looked up at Asrafel almost apologetically, as if he was sorry for spazzing out about whatever it was, before reaching for the orb once more. It felt warm, the power radiating from it feeling almost fuzzy against his skin. He frowned as the bright-and-shiny went away, poking at his chest to see if anything would come out of it.

Asrafel giggled as Calumet poked his chest, and reached out to collect the boy in his arms. "Oh, you're so silly! Now, Let's see here.. we've been gone enough time to be considered a nice little walk, don't you think? We should head back to mommy's house! Would you like that?"

He picked Calumet up into the curve of one arm and stood up, picking one of the daffodils and letting the boy hold it. "You can give that to mommy, too!" He smiled, and his wings hummed behind him, lifting him up off the ground to hover carelessly through the park once more.

He took his time heading back to Inle's, taking the long way around the entire park itself and chattering idly with Calumet about random, unimportant things, before actually heading back to the houses and settling down in front of Inle's door once more. It had been some time, but not too long, when he knocked on the door again, this time to give Calumet back to his rightful guardian.

Calumet wrapped an arm around Asrafel's neck, waving the flower in the air like a flag as the fairy-boy flew them homewards. This was fun! Maybe the park wasn't so boring after all! Of course, cartoons were still infinitely better, obviously. As pretty and fun as this trip had been, the fresh air was wearing him out! No, Calumet was most certainly a homebody. He listened attentively to Asrafel, not really understanding him but finding his voice soothing anyway.

The door opened shortly after Asra knocked. Inle had spent the time they were gone puttering around the house, and she breathed a quiet sigh of relief to see that Asra had brought her son back safe, sound, and from the looks of it, sleepy. Calumet waved both his arms at her, nearly smacking her in the nose with the daffodil as she went to take him, and sure enough he snuggled close, smiling through a yawn. Inle smiled down at him, almost maternally. Almost.

"Thanks for watching him. Did you two have a good time?"

The fairy boy couldn't help but awww as Calumet nestled into his mother, and he clasped his hands behind his back, giving them both a sweet glance. They were so cute together, baby and guardian!

"Oh! Yes, we had a wonderful time! Calumet brought you a flower, and he got to see lots of pretty things. Thank you for letting me take him out for a walk, Miss Inle! If you ever need some time, just call up the Center and let me know, I'll be happy to come down and watch over him for a while, all right? It was lovely seeing you both!" He chirped this final sentence as a way of farewell, and fluttered up into the air, hovering back and waving happily. "See you soon, Calumet!"

As he turned to fly away, he started to get dizzy with excitement. Oh, sure, he knew he was still being used, and he still resented it a little.. but soon! Soon there would be changes, such wonderful changes! How could he not be excited for the little ones, after all?
