This just made me think. (and giggle) It was in an article I read.

Quote:
Average age of bride and groom at marriage:
LDS: 22/24
Non-LDS: 25/27

Average length of engagement:
LDS: 3.5 mos
Non-LDS: 16 mos

Average number of reception attendees:
LDS: 280
Non-LDS: 189

Average cost of engagement ring:
LDS: $3200
Non-LDS: $3500

Average cost of wedding:
LDS: $6,650
Non-LDS: $20,000

That being said, I am severely relationshipophobic and 3 months seems CRAZY fast!

Well, I think we will have at least that many guests. As for age, obviously lower and the ring is WAY less lol. I hope the wedding doesn;t cost too much. but I have some time to save up.

O, btw if anyone knows a good site for dresses let me know. I know a dress I love but to use it just once it seems a lot of money. I want to add long sleeves so I can use it everytime I go to the temple but i've been told it can't be done nicely

I am far from an expert. I would recommend that you ask around in your ward and try to find a woman who is or has recently been a temple worker and get advice from her on temple gowns.

Here's a website for temple gowns.

It seems to me that if your wedding dress is very simple you will be able to use it as a temple gown but if you want any of the more traditional elements like the big poofy skirt or a train then you'd be better off renting (yes that's possible) or buying used and reselling it. Maybe there's an heirloom dress somewhere in your family you could use?

I didn't think I could marry anybody unless I'd known them for like five years first. It just goes to show you really have no idea what to expect until you finally find him. heart

Ya, I don't want the poof or a train. I like simple and pretty. I'll figure something out. I'll look for another seamstress who thinks they can do it.

Is there a picture we can see? Or do you want to keep it under wraps until the wedding? smile

Technically it's only bad luck if you see HER before the wedding. You can see the dress no problem. blaugh
