I like games that I can READ!

Well, a lot of us (myself included) can read both, at least to some degree. sweatdrop

At this point, the only way to make it work is creating another thread.

I would REALLY like if games were translated, but had an option to put on a Japanese voice track, I realize that this takes up disc space, but I think its possible once companies decide to market the technology.

The only reason I dont buy the original Japanese titles is because I dont have a mod chip in my console yet. Yet.

As far as the mod chips, you don't need them, there are other methods that are much cheaper, more reliable, and safer to use. What console is it in particular? Maybe I can give some advice..

Could you please clarify? sweatdrop If you just mean a US version of a Japanese game, that's not an import, it's a localized version.

By edits, I didn't mean just translation-I was mostly referring to other things that were changed on purpose, be it in the storyline or other features. I guess some people might like those, though. sweatdrop (Forgive me if I misinterpreted your comments, I put this in because of the part about them being in English sweatdrop ) I wasn't trying to imply that a US company would bring a game over with no English text either, just that it wouldn't be that difficult with current DVD technology to have the original text included as an option-it would give less incentive for the US (or other foreign) consumers to purchase the Japanese version, because they wouldn't be missing out on anything, including subtleties in translation.

Elric> From what I understand of the PAL gaming scene, there are even fewer releases over there. I hope this topic doesn't seem rude in any way-I would like translated games to improve in both quality and quantity for all regions, not just the US/Canada. Heck, Japan could probably even stand to have improvements on US/Canada/PAL translated games. xd

Whoops..voted twice...oh well.

My Sega Saturn *hugs Saturn* has been modded so I can play Dead or Alive, and Vampire Saviour. The only other two games I have for it are Virtual On, which is coded to not care wether it's playing on a japanese or english Saturn, and Virtua Fighter 2. I never got around to getting my Dreamcast modded becaust they always seemed to bring over the games I wanted on that system. smile

I'd like the game in english so I could read it. I have a couple of old DBZ games in Japanese, for the most part it's linear to what to do in them so I can play them without problems, but I still can't read it.

I perfer games voiced in Japanese and subtitled in English. They always sound so much better in Japanese, and the English voices usually suck.

I'm not a video game nut. I'll buy a game and by happy with that. I probally wouldn't notice cuts or anything. I like the option to have orignal Japanese or not . . . but I've never really played a game where that was a problem nor was it edited. sweatdrop
