Dee nods and leans back, opening a drawer and puttering around until she finds a bottle of tylenol. "Of course..." she opens it and hands it to the stricken islander, then gets up and retrieves the water bottle from earlier.

"The changes and serums seem as unique as the test subjects," Dee agreed. She managed to avoid wincing in sympathetic pain as she watched Richard deal with the enlarged breasts. Poor thing would need a bra... how do you tell THAT to someone who, until a few minutes ago, was male? She would offer one of her pairs, but they look like they'd be too small.

Richard dumps out and swallows about six pills. She hoped it would be enough. Her tentacles were starting to perk up, writhing under the blanket like snakes attached to her back. Eventually they found their way out of the blanket and resumed their normal pose.

"I suppose I should get going. I've troubled you enough." Yet Richard didn't move, he knew it was going to be very difficult to get up, let alone walk home. He scowled at his changed feet. He wondered how he would walk on them.

The other woman frowns. "I don't know if you're in any shape to move around just yet...you're free to stay here as long as you need to. You'll...probably need a new shirt, too. I may have something you could wear..it's big and loose on me, I use it as a nightgown."

"No no that's okay, I'll be fine." To demonstrate she pulled in her legs and tried to push herself up onto them. She yowled in pain her injuried nerves howled in protest and fell back on her bum. Tears welled up in her eyes and tried to hold back a fit of sobbing that was welling up inside her. But Dam would not hold this time and loud sobs wracked her body, each shudder reminding her how sore and alien her body was. Prehaps it was the new hormones, but with or without them Richard was at the end of the rope.

"I guess I'm not... fine." She managed a weak chuckle between sobs. "Damnit!"

Dee instinctively did the only thing she knew how to in this girly sort of situation. She kneeled back down again and wrapped her arms around Richard in a (hopefully) supportive hug. "Shh...naw, come on...just wait until the tylenol kicks in and your body feels ready to go. That was one helluva trip, and you need to take it easy."

She can totally relate with hormones, as can most ladies. The alien nature of the scene was not lost on her, however, and she had to do a mental check to make sure that this wasn't just another odd dream.

Richard craved and needed some sort of emotional support and clung to Dee like a drowning man to a life perserver. Dee soon finds herself in the midst of a very tight four armed embrace, Richard's muzzle buried into her shoulder, crying uncontrollably.

Dee coughs lightly, feeling awkward to say the least. Nonetheless, her concern and desire to help is genuine. She hugs a bit tighter, rubbing Richard's back and shoulders, mumbling (hopefully) comforting nothings. It's not much, but it's more than she herself had during some of the tough transitions in her life.

"Shhhh... let it out, hon, there ya go..." Dee says, looking around for the kleenex box.

It takes several minutes for Richard to get a hold of herself again. At one point she almost does but then she realizes that she acting just like a stereotypical woman, which is enough to set her off again.

Eventually she lets Dee go, embarrassed but feeling better. Sniffing heavily to prevent her now very large nose from leaking. "This... Is going to take some adjustment." Richard closed her eyes and opened them again, centering herself. "Thank you." Those predatory eyes shining with gratitude.

"I understand." Dee is taken aback by Richard's eyes again--that bizarre combination of human and feline!--but doesn't flinch. "You're welcome, Richard...and if you need anything else, don't hesitate to ask. We're all in this clusterf*ck together, and I keep getting the sinking feeling that I'll be joining the changed ranks one of these days."

She squeezes Richard's shoulder gently, then stands up to search for her tissue box. A clean hankerchief will have to do, and Dee also grabs her recently-washed 'nightgown' shirt. She hands both to Richard. "Here you go... you can keep them as long as you need to."

Richard nods and takes the shirt from her. "You have three weeks before the first change usually. Every one takes twice as long as the one before it."

Richard eyed the bathroom longingly but didn't want to have crawl there. There were limits, even now. He with drew his swiss army knife from his pocket and started cutting holes for his extra appendages in it.

"Um if you could spare an extra pillow, I'll just sleep this off right here." Oh how she wished this was as easy as a hangover.

"No no. Go on, use the bed... There's an extra blanket here somewhere. I'll sleep on the floor tonight." Dee gestured and, having noted Richard's gaze, nodded. "You need to use the restroom? S'okay. Let me help you up."

Richard only puts up the most token of protests before she accepts Dee's offer of the bed. She and Dee get her to the bathroom where Richard makes a point of not inspecting herself too closely. Then changed into a fresh shirt Richard collapses on Dee's bed and falls asleep instantly.

Her thoughts still wheeling, Dee does some quiet tidying-up before flopping down into a chair. She watches Richard for a while, replaying the recent events in her head.

Three weeks from first injection to first change. Three weeks...

Her stomach sinks. That's not very long from now. She suspected that she was due for her share of pain, but not *this* soon. A very very small part of her feels eager to see this from a personal standpoint...to see what shape her body will take. Dee heaves a great sigh as the worried ball of stress and icy anxiety worms its way back into her gut.

Without warning, she slumps forward and begins to sob with her face in the palms of her hands. She's very glad that Richard isn't conscious to witness her own little breakdown.

This too shall pass, Dee. This too shall pass.
