Diego smiled and gave an equine shrug. "As I say; it's much of a muchness to me so we may as well begin on hoof. If flight takes our fancy later on we can take to the air then... You know I don't think I've seen one of your kind fly before, I should like to at some point," the golden Jala commented with a smile. "Still, that can wait until later, yes? For now we run; after you my lady," Diego said, indicating with a toss of his head that Eira should set whatever pace she wished and that he would follow.

Eira nodded and smiled. "Alright then, try and keep up." She turned, paused for a moment, before she took off westward. If there was one thing about her breed that she wouldn't mind being sterotyped it was her breeds speed. Common knowledge said thet Ichsa's were fast runners, and she was no exception. She just hoped her new friend would not have any problems keeping up. But she knew the moment she went to flying he would most likely out run her. She loved to fly, it was fun, but she wasn't the worlds fasted at it.

The golden Jala smirked and sprang after the Ichsa mare; she was fleet of hoof, this pretty one was. A surge of effort brought him level with her and, once there, the stallion strove to keep pace. A challenge. He did like challenges. He also liked the vision of beauty that he could just see out of the corner of one eye. Eira, her mane, tail and tendril wings flowing, was even lovelier in motion than at rest.
Diego smiled to himself; this was going to be a very interesting trip indeed.

Eira looked towards him, smiling lightly. "YOu can keep up, i'm imparessed, but for how long?" she asked lightly, grinning. She wasn't even breathing hard yet. "How far away if the mountains?" she asked.

The blue-eyed Jala grinned at his slender companion; it was nice to have one's skills noted even when you knew them well yourself. "Not all that long, I'll admit," he replied. "I'm fast but no distance runner. As to the mountains, I've never made the journey myself but I doubt it'll be more than a couple of weeks if we travel steadily each day."

The mare sighed lightly. that was gonna be such a long time. "alright then." she said, smiling lightly. "I guess it won't be that bad."

Diego nodded to her words, noting silently that she didn't seem overly enthused. Probably anxious to find this special stallion of her's again. Oh well, couldn’t win them all and he’d still have the journey in her attractive company even if she did find this friend of her’s and go off with him. "You never know; I might be wrong," he said after a moment. "I'm making an estimate at how long it'll take at most, realistically. We might get there much faster if we're closer than I've guessed but I highly doubt it’ll be longer."

Diego smiled faintly at the mare. "It's my pleasure, I assure you," he said and was somewhat surprised to find that he meant it. Not just because he wanted to look at her, not just because he wanted to see the mighty Fire Mountains with his own eyes. Helping this lost creature actually felt good for its own sake as well. That was a turn up for the books. The golden Jala smiled again and concentrated on his stride.

She smiled and contined her pace easily. "when you need a break just say so and we'll stop." she said, tossing her head a little. She loved the feeling of running.

Diego grinned, knowing that his pride would keep him going until he was near ready to drop. Still, it didn't matter. For now, he was racing the wind and the sleek brown mare at his flank and that felt good. It was a simple thing, far removed from the intrigue and deceit of his father's herd. He'd never realised he was missing such things as this before the cold winter had come. Always before even racing had held some deeper purpose than to get to another place quickly or to stretch muscles.
He could almost get used to a life like this, almost give up the adoration and the easy existence handed to him by his birth, wit and looks. Almost. Still, for now it was his and he could have the rest back with the coming of spring. Perhaps, having experienced such things, he would be able to make room for them when he returned home.
"Aye Eira," he grinned at the Ichsa mare by his side, "I'll let you know."

Eira smiled. "Can you keep up a conversation as you run, Diego?" she smiled. She was curious about where this one had come from. It interested her, besides, running along in silence did not sound like a good thing...she had been in silence for far to long.

Err... could he? Well, there was no reason why not, it wasn't like either was a complex activity or anything. "Of course Eira," the Jala said with a smile to the mare beside him. "What would you like to talk about?"

The golden stallion smiled and nodded his assent. "Alright then. Well, let's see. I come from Ryuten, close to D'ob. My father is lord of the herd that lives there, that I have lived with all my life. It's a mild place mostly; grass isn't as rich as in D'ob but food is still plentiful most of the time." Diego paused briefly in his telling to negotiate a rocky patch of ground. "I'm one of two of his children, my sibling being an elder brother and my father's heir." The blue-eyed stallion decided diplomatically not to tell this brown mare that said brother wasn't exactly the brightest star in the sky and would require steering in his leadership.
"The herd's mostly Bae and Jala," Diego went on. "We've a fair number of Aeri too but no Reya of Ichsa to date. It's green where I live with gentle hills and trees that bear sweet fruits. The twolegs sometimes bring gifts to us, too. Funny creatures but quite sweet really. It's a good place to live on the whole; peaceful but not as... humm... not as soft as D'ob. I like it there, though it is nice to see the world outside, too."
