"Falling into madness? Does desiring to not be made experiments by others constitute madness these days? And so what if she desires to go about this through violent means." He saw Aaron move, and sent a mental message to Ora's Griffin, who had been laying next to the door like a statue. It sprang up, blocking Aaron's path. "You are not permitted to leave." He said to him, scoping the room for Erica. He caught a slight glimpse of the carpet moving, and took a swing at it, making only a swooshing sound.

Erica felt the blade swoosh by again, slicing a line against her cheek. She dropped the stealth, a sparkling cyan colored ball forming in the palm of her hand. It crackled and spat like it was fire. "You remember my power, Ashura, you've felt the sting before. It's changed, a bit since then, but it's still painful." She sent the ball shooting towards him. Her only choice now was to fight, and so she let the last pieces of sufferance take over.

Aaron looked at the Griffin in curiosity. He debated his next move then reached into his pocket casually pulling out a box of matches. He flicked one at the griffin, glaring at the bird in challenge, but saying nothing at all.

A shadow lurched up and blocked the ball of energy. The shadow loomed for a moment, and then shrank back into the ground as Ashura sprang forward, slashing at Erica's chest with his sword.

The Griffin stared at Aaron as the match collided with it, giving it a minor burn. It stood motionless, blinking at him.

((lol, I wasn't even thinking any damage at all... Aaron was just being a brat.))

Erica Pushed her body backwards, away from the weapon, sending a ball of energy at Ashura's swordhand. As she moved, her coloring started to change, her skin paling to a slight grey shade, her eyes beginning to glow the same cyan color as the crackling energy. "It's amazing I once thought you were too 'good' for me, Ashura. Now I am the one defending the innocents, strange how our roles have changed."

Merlin took action from his perch as a bird. Strange symbols stretched and bended in the air, carried on the abrupt gust of wind from the window. The symbols faded, and a being of air formed, still invisible, binding itself between Aaron and the Griffin and Ashura and Erica, defending all parties from attack.

Aaron tried to run past the Griffin, but found himself running into an invisible being, and ended up getting knocked down onto his butt. He muttered "D'Hellions?" as he stood up, very frustrated, and kicked the invisible air guardian a few times having no idea what it was.

A.C. put a hand on the boy's shoulder to calm him down, then reached to touch the air before them. Gently she found the creature's flesh and slid a hand across it a short ways. She smiled. Merlin.

To the boy, she said, "Hush now, I think this is protection. I think the beast cannot pass, either." A frown creased her forehead through the smile. "And then, neither can we then escape... but it solves my dilemma, at least.

"So I haven't asked you your name yet, little one. Who are you?"

Aaron glared at the Griffin, and at Ashura, now that he had established the situation somewhat, he was getting fiesty and overconfident. He glanced at A.C. with a smooth smile. "Aaron. You were talkin' to my Mom an' Dad earlier, saw you from 'round the corner. You're a spy, but that's okay....I think."

He turned back to the griffin and stuck out his tongue, wishing he could have another chance to try and light it on fire.

A second doorway opened and Oralia stepped into her domain, followed by a few trace green moths. She assessed the situation carefully, smiling as she saw her mother, and the boy. However the smile sharpened a bit as she saw the spy.

"Why the delay Ashura?" She asked. "I would have this would be finished by now. Or were you amusing yourself with old memories?"

"No matter, we'll simply end this now." She sent a dark blast in A.C.'s direction, but it was quickly absorbed by the wind spirit. She slowly raised her hand to draw out her sword. "Ah, I see. Someone has been meddling."

The wind spirit turned translucent for a moment, then reverted to it's invisible state.

"So you would be the Angels' goddaughter?" Merlin questioned as he reverted to his normal form. He stood in between the air spirit's twisting body, the two groups separated, but leaving a clear line between him and Ora. "At last I put a face to the magic. I'd give you some pointers, dear, but I regret to inform you that you won't have much use for them."

Ashura scowled as Ora spoke to him. "I had forgotten how good she was at...hiding." He turned back to Erica and glared, and then took a swing with his sword.

(The wind spirit is still there right?)

Ora chuckled, but it was obvious to the discerning eye her pride was bristled. Her anger was growing swiftly. "And you would be the angel's aging magic. The old ways are not always the best ways, magician." She unsheethed her sword letting it rest quietly at her side. "Cresil, destroy the barrier." She spoke to her Griffin who screached in response before snapping at the wind spirit, it's beak imbued with a dark power, which slowly trailed from the black mouth like smoke.

((aye, but it's going down in power))

Erica backed away from the sword as it was stopped by the wind spirit. Her eyes were wide, her full interest on her daughter. Images of Ora as a child began to come clear, and so did memories of Xeen. As it is part of her weakness, Erica felt herself begin to cry, and she quickly went into stealth to keep herself over all protected.

Ashura smiled as he saw Erica break down. Now was his chance. He took a swing at the Wind Spirit again, trying to break through it before Erica came to her senses.
