Maybe he's afraid that the same thing will happen to Sakura as Itachi is still alive? It's a thought for the feed box, right? Yeah, that's true. He probably also doesn't want to make her a target for Itachi and/or Orochimaru to use her as bait. Which is why he -tried- to severe the bonds. The reason was obviously that he couldn't bear to see her crying, and if he did turn around, he definately wouldn't have been able to leave.
Though, for some reason, I never think of half these things until you people point them out.

They're geniuses! biggrin Anyways.. I've been thinking on the subject on Sasuke's weaknesses. Have you noticed that nothing he has or has so far seen was pink? Just looking at that color might remind him of Sakura.. *sniffles* that's all my brain could muster up. I'm SUCH A LOOOOSER! D:

I've actually thought deeply about these things. Call me obsessed, but yeah, that's what I've done. I'd just like to throw in my opinions into the fray.SiretaInDisguise 1- Wave Arc. Sasuke's dead, right? Not. Sakura's crying. He wakes up, sees her, and with concern in his voice, he says her name-- the first thing he says when he wakes up. He also is not as brash as he normally would be with her-- he lightly tells her that her hug hurts, without any forceful language.
Personally, I think he handled this one well. I'm glad he didn't get flustered and told Sakura off GENTLER (take that, Anti-SasuSaku-ers!) than he normally would.SiretaInDisguise 2- Meeting with Orochimaru. They get stuck in a trance that hinders their movement-- Sasuke knows they need to move, but they can't. He doesn't find the will power to move until he turns and sees Sakura staring in fear and crying.
See? "A ninja is only strong enough if he has someone to protect." Ring any bells, anyone?SiretaInDisguise 3- Forest of Death. Sasuke's taken over and consumed by the curse seal-- his main point is protecting Sakura, but he still stops when she runs and hugs him-- but the curse seal itself doesn't begin to recede until he sees her crying.
When she stops him with a hug, he doesn't try to get away from her grasp. He could've easily done that, Curse Seal or not, even without hurting her. But I'm sure he heard the despair in her voice, and even more so when he caught sight of her tears.
I think that the Curse Seal being new, Sasuke didn't have much control over it. But it RECEDED when he saw Sakura's tears. Meaning it should've receded by instinct.
Meaning Sakura already had a place somewhere in Sasuke's heart. Only she and Naruto could affect his emotions so much that he instinctively withdraws something he can't even control, but may be hurting them. Like the Curse Seal.
(Putting more fuel to Sireta-san's "He missed Sakura on purpose" theory. blaugh )SiretaInDisguise 4- Hospital Scene. Sasuke wakes up from his Tsukiyomi induced coma-- seemingly having no problem sitting up right. Sakura bounces on him, bawling her eyes out. If he ahd the power to sit up so quickly, then he had the power to shove her off. Instead he completely ignores Naruto and watches her with a sad, sympathetic expression.
Okay, maybe not. But a guy who's just gotten mind-raped needs comfort, right? And Sakura, being all worried for him again, and CRYING again for him, was probably the only obvious source of sympathy Sasuke could find at the moment.
Sakura needed comfort at the time, too - she was worried to death by Sasuke's state. He didn't face Sakura the entire time until he told her she was annoying. I think it wasn't just because of the tears (which I fully believe would have made him stay had he seen them) but because he probably didn't want to show that he was being affected by her words and appear emotionally vulnerable. Sasuke turning away is his way of building a protective wall around his indecision.
Even when he knocked Sakura out, Sakura (and the audience) is never shown what the expression on his face is as he appears behind her. He could've actually punched her in the gut to knock her unconscious, but he hits her neck instead, leaving me with three conclusions:
1) He still doesn't want Sakura to see his true feelings on his face as he thanks her.
2) He wants to knock her out in the gentlest possible way. Believe me, a punch to the gut is much more painful than what Sasuke did.
3) He doesn't want to see Sakura's crying face.
Or all three, as a fourth conclusion.
All of these conclusions still point to SasuSaku.
And so I think that while he won't fall all over for just any girl who happens to be shedding tears, he can practically crumple to Sakura's tears.

SiretaInDisguise BlueShadowSoul Not to be asshead but I'm naturally prone to coming up with arguments even with my favorite couple. About Sasuke coming to whenever he hears Sakura, it could be that her voice is quite high and annoying (at first). And about him worrying when he heard her scream, it could be tha he knows shes weak and if shes in trouble no one is there to help her so things are bad. sweatdrop i'm horrible.. Annoying voice? No offense, but that sounds like an anti-Sakura type of counter.... since her voice isn't annoying at all :/ If she had a voice like Fran Dresher or whatever her name is, then she'd have an annoying voice. Or like Wee man. Then she'd have an annoying voice. Sakura has a seemingly average voice in my mind, and a nice one at that :/ As for knowing she's weak, what if it's not that? He admits that she has some strenghts, and, when the times comes, DOES expect her to hold her ground sometimes (these times being when he can't jump in the way and protect her, if you've noticed). He admitted that she had the best genjutsu kills AND the best analytical skills on their team. He expected her to help when the Rain nin attacked-- but wanted to protect her at the same time. Sasuke's reactions to Sakura are a bundle of confusions on his part. He wants her to get stronger and know what's she's good at, but he doesn't like to see/know she's hurt (hovers over her after she faints, keeps her away from the Demon brothers when she's already ready and poised to attack, freaks out when she screams, compliments her afer he knows he hurt her feelings and she's still being weird about it the next day, gets her away from Orochimaru, goes haywire on the sound nin for hurting her, stops the curse seal when she cries, is ready to give his life so Naruto can get her out of the forest during the Gaara fight... *goes on and on*). Oh I'm not anti-sakura, she's actually my favorite character right there with kurenai(thats her in the first banner in my sig). but as soon as i heard her (japanese version i should've said) i kinda winced at how ... i dunno how to explain. it just annoyed me but later on it got alot better.. or maybe i got used to it but yea it was annoying. And those are good points but if Kakashi and Naruto are there (especially in the first mission) then he would expect them to be doing all the fighting. Too make a good point in here, he starts getting on her case about training more after this and it could very well be that he realizes she needs to get better in case shes in trouble. heart

I dunno if anyone has said this but for those who've seen the latest chapter(?) saw that Sasuke didn't kill any of those men he fought and Orochimaru called him soft.Even though his reply was this he only has one person he wants to kill I think it's because he doesn't want to. I mean if you think about it, his whole childhood, hell his whole life has been ruined by a man who killed his family (not evn counting that it was someone he looked up to, his older brother). I just think he doesn't want to be like Itachi.
Another thing, if wants to kill one person and thats it then what was that about when he met up w/ Naruto and Sakura? It looked like he would easily murder them and he was now cold-hearted but what if he wanted them to stay away so they wouldn't be killed later. THEN maybe he thought they wouldn't suffer death OR being sad if he was killed.
Oh and I just remembered that there was a bunch of times when he thought he would die and it just did something to him, he was truly scared.
