"We always have some pumpkin juice at home."
Liliana smiled that he opened the door for her. So like Uncle Aiden & her father, that almost lost chivalry. She too looked around in surprise. Then she smiled, glad there was no one around. Her tails wagged softly behind her as she padded quietly to the kitchen. Smiling gently she answered him just as quietly. "We drink a lot of milk in our home. Everyone but Gwen, who refuses to eat anything from an animal at all." An almost shrill giggle escaped her. "We have teas, juices, mochas & things... but no coffee. Trel only uses coffee scented candles & air fresheners, and none of us drink them. No soda either. Lots of water."
She smiled softly at him before drawing her wand as they entered the kitchen. With a practiced swish & flick Liliana got out a pot & the milk, setting them properly on the stovetop to warm. She was not her Aunt Ginny in the kitchen, but she could manage making warm drinks.

"Your house sounds much healthier than mine." Endless sounded slightly amused as he said that, though he wasn't particularly certain why it seemed funny. He usually drank juice or water or something out of the fridge... they had bottles of that too.
He stepped into the kitchen behind her and saw the wand waving about and items floating about and apparently turning themselves into hot chocolate. He looked shocked for a moment, and then tilted his head curiously, seeming to remember his mouth was hanging open only after a minute or so had passed. He snapped it shut in that way that distinctly said he hadn't meant to do that.
Finally he just sat down and chuckled for a moment at his own surprise. It made sense that there would be more than one witch in that household, especially after Ginny had said something about there being others... "Well, I guess making the hot chocolate isn't going to take as long as I thought." He looked at Lili, one ear up and one ear down. "That runs in the family, I take it?" How was he to know that Ginny wasn't her real aunt? They certainly both had red hair.

"Yeah, we eat pretty healthy. No sodas, no chips. But at the same time we use real butter & there's always homemade cookies or banana bread or something." She giggled a little bit, looking almost sheepish as she caught Endless snapping his mouth shut. Lily continued to giggle at one of his ears being up, the other down. "We all inherited Daddy's wizard powers." She explained proudly, lifting her wings slightly before pulling them against her sides once more. It did not dawn on her to explain that although Ginny was family & a witch there was no blood connection. Not that she would, her smile fading away as she thought of her father's "good news" once more.
Liliana sighed heavily. "I suspect the new kits will inherit them too." There was no denying the downcast feel of her words. Closing herself off again she silently watched the warming pot, setting a spoon to stir in it so that the milk would not grow a skin.

Endless looked at her, really looked at her. It didn't occur to him to be worried about staring, her back was turned, and he had a purpose to it besides just looking this time. She was adult, but still young... not that he was old or anything, just... older. The thought of her parents having more kids seemed to bother her... why? If he were in her position he'd be happy just to have a family... but he wasn't, and she was, and she wasn't him. Of course this line of thought led him to thinking of his family... or rather lack of one...
"If you want to talk about it... I'll listen. You don't have to... I mean..." He sighed. "I don't want you to think I'm prying. I know it's not always easy to talk about... about stuff." His eyes still glowed but seemed dimmer, and his voice reflected what shadows they would not. He tried to smile at her, a tight lipped little thing, and then he turned away and started nosing through cabinets at random looking for the hot chocolate and the marshmallows, something, anything, not to think for a moment.

Liliana pursed her lips, not saying anything right away. Part of her wanted to confide in this new friend she seemed to have made, part of her did not, and then there was the part that feared if she did that she would sound petulant.
Of course there were the parts Lily herself did not understand to the fullest. Like that although she loved her Daddy and had always wanted to marry him, she had never really thought beyond that to what it would entail. She did not know exactly why she was so upset that her parents were having more kits... only that it felt like a crashing of all her dreams & everything she wanted. Nothing was clear -except that she hurt.
Sighing she let the spoon continue to stir in its spell. One of Ginny's cooking spells that she had shared for company in the kitchen. At least her Aunt Ginny was happy now. It made visiting the kitchen when she was home that much more enjoyable. "I'm not sure I can talk about it." The young adult said softly, slowly looking over to catch Endless' eye. Odd how his eyes seemed to glow. She shivered & droplets of melting ice & snow shook from her fur. "I don't know if I want to talk about it or not either... but you're not prying." Lily gave him a tentative smile, one meant more to reassure him than because she felt it. Endless seemed a nice kitsu. It was not his fault she was in such a mood that he should have to put up with meeting her so. It would be nice to have another friend... and Liliana found she did not want to drive the male off. "I brought it up, after all."

Endless actually managed to find a tin of hot chocolate and brought it over to set it down beside Lili. He was willing his shoulders to unknot, forcing the muscles to relax, but he knew it was only a matter of time. Every time he thought about his parents he ended up getting a tension headache, even if he fought it off for a few hours. It was just... one of those things.
He actually wagged his tails after she finished speaking, even if it was just one half-hearted shake. "I guess... If you ever do need to talk... you can probably find me around somewhere." He watched her for a moment and then resumed his search for the marshmallows, feeling oddly torn. Torn about what he did not know... except maybe that he was fighting himself in the back of his mind about getting too close to Liliana. He was getting better at ignoring his "distrust" voice, since he'd actually met and even lived with a few people he was genuinely starting to trust, but it was still hard sometimes to let himself... what? Get to know someone? ...Sometimes he really felt like a fool no matter what he did.

A genuine smile lightly touched her sad eyes then. "Thank you. I think I'd... like that." Her tails flicked softly behind her and she watched Endless for a brief moment. Liliana was perhaps one of the most closed of individuals in her large & varied family, but if Endless had been closer to her she probably would have hugged him in gratitude nonetheless -thinking nothing of it. Her family was an affectionate one prone to hugs and cuddlings and such displays were almost second nature to her. But he was not, and Lily was not the type to cross the room for such a thing. It was either spontaneous, or nonexistent. But it made her feel that little bit better somehow.
So it was with an odd smile that she swished her wand to bring two bowls out of the cabinets for them & filled them with warm & slightly frothy milk from the pan. She scooped in her preferred amount of chocolate into one, then tilted her head at Endless. "How chocolate-y do you like yours?"
The tin of mix & a dry spoon hovered over the second bowl, awaiting his answer. Another spoon stirred lazily in Lily's bowl.

Endless extracted his head from a cabinet and looked back at her. "Huh? Oh. Uh... I dunno, 4 or 5 scoops?" He smiled back at her a little more genuinely than earlier and stuck his nose back in the cabinet. There was a bag of marshmallows back there he thought...
He grabbed it gently with his teeth and tugged it out of the cabinet. He almost had it out when a corner weighed down by a bag of flour caught and said bag toppled onto the floor. It seemed the bag had also been opened, because it went "Poof!" when it hit the floor and covered his head and shoulders in white powder. He'd managed to shut his eyes in time, but some of it got in his nose when he'd inhaled. He struggled but his nostrils gave him no mercy and he sneezed, which caused even more of the flour to waft up into the air and settle on his coat. Somewhat at a loss he just sort of looked at the mess for a minute and made a noise that was half exasperated sigh and half whine. Things were going so well...

Liliana nodded & added four scoops before setting the spoon with the stirring spell. She liked that spell -it did not take any concentration once set other than occasionally recasting if the spell wore out too soon. She got the lid back on the cocoa just before she dropped the whole thing at the commotion by Endless.
Sparing half a thought to see that the lid had held & there were not two powdery messes Liliana hurried over to her friend's side. "Endless! Are you all right?"
Getting too close she sneezed too, then sneezed again before thinking to back up & whip her wand over the mess. She remembered the spell easily enough -Ginny had much use of it with Yahto & the small fae creatures wanting to "help" in the kitchen so often. The yoshi audio on his own was not bad, but when combined with the fae... well it was not pretty.
Slowly, white powder lifted & seemed to pour back into the bag. Liliana concentrated on the spell, but her concerned green eyes kept returning to check on her friend. She could not return the flour either of them had breathed. Had he breathed in too much?

Endless nodded answer to Lili's question with his eyes scrunched almost shut, but he could see what she was doing so he just held his breath until the flour had settled, if not all returned into the bag. Then he trotted a bit away and had a coughing fit for a few moments until his lungs were satisfied enough of the flour had been dislodged. He took a few deep breaths to be sure the coughing was done with and turned a wry little half-grin on Lili, eyes still watering. "I'll be fine... people have survived flour for hundreds of years, I'm sure I can manage."
He returned close enough to flour bag to retrieve the marshmallows and hurriedly retreated toward the hot chocolate. He checked the side of a bowl with a paw to make sure it was still hot enough (it hadn't been very long, so it was fine, it just felt longer) and dumped several of the marshmallows in and sat down to wait for them to melt. He blinked slightly and turned to Lili. "Do you like marshmallows in yours?"

She continued to watch him worriedly, wanting to help somehow. With a resigned sigh she put the bag of flower in a plastic bag before returning it to the cabinet & checked that the stove was off while wincing as Endless coughed. Only then did she pad back over to the bowls, a fretful & worried look upon her face. Liliana blinked at the question and her mouth curled gently. "I think I would, today. Only two though."
She watched him, as if expecting him to cough again any moment. "Are you sure you're okay?" Lily asked with a hint of a whimper. Although she knew it was irrational, somehow she felt the incident was her fault.

Endless carefully shook two marshmallows out of the bag and into Lili's bowl before setting the bag of marshmallows to the side next to the flashlight and sketchbook. "I think I'm all right..." He took a couple more deep breaths and still did not resume coughing. "Didn't start coughing... so there's probably not much if any still in there. I should be fine." He blinked his softly glowing eyes at her. "Are you ok? I mean... aside from... y'know."

She lapped lightly at her hot chocolate, alternating watching her marshmallows melt and checking on Endless. Only when he did not cough did she relax a little, letting the thick, warm, chocolate beverage soothe her.
"Okay? Yeah. I am." Then without thinking Liliana stepped one gold tipped paw closer and touched her nose to the lower part of his cheek briefly. "Thanks."
As if nothing had happened she stepped back to her bowl & lapped at the liquid inside with a happy but otherwise bland expression, simply enjoying the drink.

Endless felt his face heat slightly after she touched her nose to his cheek, and once again he was grateful for his dark fur. It was obviously no big deal... to Liliana at least. He knew that to many families being affectionate was second nature. It was his fault he'd never been shown how to be affectionate or how to deal with affection... and not Lili's fault she didn't know. So he chose to say nothing and lapped at his hot chocolate too.
After a few moments he looked up at her, ears pricked forward and a... very strange look on his face. "Er... I know you probably don't want to talk about it right now... but if you don't mind telling me... what's your family like?" He did all right for most of the short time he was speaking, but the ache in his voice was obvious during those last four words, especially when he said family. He just... wondered what a family was like. The others at the house were ok, but... aside from Soot and Atae he wouldn't even consider calling them anything more than friends.

Liliana's ears twitched at the question just before she froze, going slightly rigid. Then she started to shake. But she wanted to answer. Slowly Liliana lowered herself to the floor, tucking her wings & tails tightly around her. Taking a deep lap of hot chocolate she sighed & gave Endless a slightly scared smile. "My whole family that I live with, or just my blood kin?"
