She nodded slightly before she felt his paw brush her cheek. She felt her cheeks heat even more and her heart flutter. She blinked in surprise and shook her head slightly, what the heck? This was Briar, why had she reacted like that? She must be tired, and weak from bloodloss, yes, that was it. With a curt nod she strode determinedly toward the lake, fully intent on getting this over with and finding someplace to sleep the day away....if she could.

A soft smile stretched over his face when Briar noted the subtle blush on Kechara's cheeks. But then she was striding toward the lake, and the moment was gone. Briar shook his head, not understanding what had come over him in the moment. With the blanket slung over his shoulder, he trotted after Kechara to the lake.

Kechara paused at the lake's bank, unsure whether she shouldwade into it to clean her wound, or sit by the edge and scoop water onto it. Sith a flush and shake of her head, she waded into the slow moving liquid, carefully making sure her footing was alright and she wouldn't get her wings wet. Carefully, she cleaned the wound, moving slowly and shivering when her nerves reacted to the cold water and her ministrations to her wound. She glanced behind her, taking a quick note of Briar and returning to her work, attempting with all her will to keep her heartbeat normal.

Briar took a seat on the bank of the lake as Kechara waded into the water. He waited for her to wash the wound clean and clean the blood from her fur, not wanting to do anything that would delay bandaging her wound any longer. While he waited, he took the blanket and ripped it into strips, ready to use for bandaging.

Kechara's ears twitched as she heard the fabric ripping and carefully examined her cut for anything that might be inside it or around it. Satisfyed that she had cleaned it well enough to be bandaged, she spread her wings and flew backwards, landing on the dry bank on one foot, careful not to move her leg much, lest it re-open again.

She glanced around and finally sat, carefully adjusting her wings so they didn't scrape across the ground too much. "S-so..." She spoke quietly, avoiding his eyes, "Do you think we should tye it tightly? Or just enough to keep it on?" Her gaze was firmly latched onto her wound. It wasn't excessively large to look at after cleaning it, but it would require a bandage for a few days.

Briar waited for Kechara to return to the bank and sit down by him. "I think tight enough to stay on for sure," he said. "But definitely not overly tight." He gestured for Kechara to hold out her foot so he could bandage her wound. "I wouldn't want it to hurt you by being too tight."

Kechara flushed again, halfway leaning toward saying she would do it herself--but deciding that would be too rude of a thing to do. She obeyed his gesture, turning and stretching her leg so he could bandage it. She hissed at herself inwardly, what was wrong with her? They had been fine earlier, actually, she had been talking more easily with him then most others. She shook her head and smiled faintly, hiding her insecurities as best she could, "Th-thank you...for doing this..." She whispered.

Briar took great care in bandaging the wound. He constantly checked Kechara for any signs that he was tying the bandage too tightly. "I'm happy to help," he said, smiling at her. "Let me know if this is too tight though." He continued to work carefully and cautiously.

Kechara nodded, "I will." She promised and smiled faintly. No one had ever done this for her before, it was nice having someone help her for once. She sighed faintly and tilted her head to the side, "Do you do this for everyone, Briar?" She asked tilting her head up to the sky, "Is it only you? Or are there others?" She winced slightly as her wound twinged in a retaliation to being bound. She shook her head, flushing again, "S-sorry. It's just....no one's really done something like this for me before..." She shook her head, "No one's really helped me before..."

"I like to help others," Briar said. "I don't like seeing others in pain, and I can't just sit back and leave them alone to deal with something like a wounded leg on their own if they need someone to help them out. Though I can't speak for other Numa." He frowned as he looked up at Kechara. "It doesn't sound like you come from a very happy place." It made his heart hurt to even contemplate what Kechara's home was like, what kind of pain she might have gone through with no one to help her. He didn't like it.

Kechara shrugged, her gaze shifting to her bandaged leg, eyes half-lidded. She was very tired, after going through so much emotional stress, all she wanted to do was sleep, but she couldn't just nod off with Briar there. "You're a very nice numa then, Briar," She commented absently, and tilted her head toward him at the comment about her home, "Depends on what you think of as "happy"," She murmured in response, retracting her leg after he finished and altering her position so they were both facing the river.

She held back a yawn, not wanting reveal just how tired she was. She enjoyed his company quite a bit, to have it end simply because she was tired was just...stupid.

Once finished with the bandaging, Briar released Kechara's leg, allowing her to pull it back and turn so face the river with him. "Happy," he said, thinking on it. "Happy is place where you can have fun and laugh and smile and never have to worry about someone telling you it's wrong to be afraid or ask another for help." He knew it was probably just an idealistic view of the world, but he hated to see such a sweet Numa suffering in sorrow.

Kechara blinked and glanced at him in surprise, before turning her gaze back to the river, "Oh." She replied, "I always thought....that "happy" was when you did something completely right, no mistakes at all so no one could scold you." She replied softly, and smiled faintly, "I like your "happy" better." She really did; it was much better then what she had been taught and had learned on her own about the subject.

For the thousandth time, she thanked the gods she had left her home. She may be a horribly shy creature, making a fool out of herself at every turn--but at least here she wasn't openly ridiculed.

Briar nearly gawked at her when Kechara explained her idea of "happy." Instead, he frowned. "Everyone makes mistakes. It's a part of learning," he said. "Like a newborn attempting to walk for the first time. He'll fall a few times before he can finally walk on his own. I don't think anyone can go through life without making a few mistakes here and there. Mistakes are a part of life." He nodded as though agreeing with himself.

Kechara set about examining her paws, sensing Briar was displeased with her form of "happy", "Learning," She repeated, dark pink eyes focused on her white paws, "Newborn mistakes are acceptable." She told him numbly, "Newborns do not have the capabilities of understanding the greater workings of life." She sucked in a long breath, "But your mistakes are not, you understand more then a newborn, therefore you must not make mistakes." She rocked her head back toward him, eyes half-lidded, "Because then you are shameful and worthless to us." Her mother had told her that, after Kechara had bumbled her way through a practice test on etiquette.
