Kita nods slightly. "He probably didn't, but it would be kind of funny if he's been calling it 'chick' the whole time." He stifles a small laugh at the thought, catching a funny look from Meji.

"I think he knows I'm talking about my brother...he doesn't like me talking about him." But then just how would the griffon know that, Meji didn't really understand humans, did he? Or maybe he was just that good and could simply tell, who knows.

"This might be a stupid question, and you don't have to answer but I'm just curious. How did you get your griffons? My brother got Meji from a family friend that used to breed them. Something about not liking his coloring when he hatched."

Meji gives a quick click of his beak, turning his attention completely away from Trill as he watched the humans. he just knew that Kita was talking about his human. But he couldn't seem to tell if it was a good thing, or bad.

If the boy was saying bad things he'd give him a rude wake-up call by nipping his ear or...something of the like to teach him a lesson or two. That is if it really was bad, he had laughed..

User Image"Griffins are clever," Silence said. "They pick up on things like tone. You probably use a certain tone of voice when you speak about your brother."

Silence really wouldn't know. She couldn't hear a blessed thing. She wanted to glance over at Meshach to have him confirm what she'd said, let her know if Kita did have a specific tone he used in conversing on the subject of his brother, but she didn't dare take her eyes from Kita's mouth and face, or risk missing something else he said.

"I was given Trill. Where I come from, we raise griffins. Most of the people I knew there owned griffins. It was rare that someone didn't own one..."

Her thoughts returned to Patience and Courage, two of the only people at the Eyrie who had not had griffins. Patience by choice, and Courage by chance. A longing expression flitted briefly across Silence's face before she forced her thoughts in another direction.

"Meshach gave me Chade just recently," she continued. "I have no idea where he found him. There aren't a great many wild griffins around anymore."

Meshach heard his name and looked up but said nothing. He was not required to participate in this conversation, and was not particularly inclined to do so. He petted Chade absently, touching light fignertips to the tips of the chick's ears and making them flick unconsciously.

Trill didn't mind that the older griffin's attention wandered. The jesting wing-beat had not been soft, and Trill was out of practice at tussles and taking hits. There wasn't much call for it except when hunting, and few things stand much chance against an aerial attack, even in the unlikely event that they manage to notice in time to fight back.
