Fortune gave a nod. Good, they would move now! Moving was a good thing. She was getting antsy and it was showing in the way she was pawing the ground.

"That sounds like a good idea to me." she paused, realizing that Zaphiro was still there, and smiled over at him, "I don't know your name! How rude of me. I'm Fortune, if you can't tell."

A giggle before she nosed the basket again, "Still wish it was food."

And now introductions were remembered. Smiling slightly in amusement, Zaphiro acknowledged Fortune's introduction with a stately nod. "I'd say that the rudeness is on the part of both of us, Fortune; I'm Zaphiro, and it's been very...interesting." To put it mildly.

Ignoring the other two for the moment, Safi was eyeing the basket thoughtfully. It was bigger than Saiena's had been, so moving it wouldn't be quite as easy. Hrm... "Hey, how do you two think that we're going to move it?"

A valid question; now Zaphiro was studying the basket as well. That was an interesting problem... "Huh."

Fortune grinned toward Zaphiro, "Lovely name. It has been interesting - more interesting than I had expected when I came across a basket."

Actually, it was probably the swift kick that Fortune needed toward maturity. That was, if she could ever wrap her mind around the thought of staying in one place for too long.

Of course, it wasn't likely, but if anything would do it the basket would.

Maybe.

Then Safi's question broke through her thoughts, "Huh. I don't know." Fortune frowned and poked the basket gently, "It'd be easier if it had legs sticking out."

"But it doesn't, so..." Safi was perplexed now as well. It was too big to drag, and they couldn't roll it; where did that leave them??

For a few moments, Zaphiro watched the two with varying degrees of disbelief and amusement before finally sighing and walking over. "What if I carry it? If you two can manage to get it onto my back, I can sort of keep it in place with my wings, and you two can walk on either side to make sure it doesn't fall off."

Given how long he'd spent staring at that basket, he was pretty sure he had it's weight figured out...and felt he could carry it.

Zaphiro's suggestion surprised Fortune and she blinked. That could definitely work. Fortune's eyes went to Safi as if asking why they hadn't thought of that.

"...That works. Help me lift it up, Safi?"

Fortune was definitely the smallest one (beside the basket) there. Not that she cared.

Of course! That was a totally brilliant idea; he couldn't beLIEVE he hadn't thought of that earlier! "Sure thing, Fortune. Zaphiro, crouch down, would you? We're lifting a basket here, not a feather."

Now that he had a plan to follow, Safi was in his energetic element; as Zaphiro obligingly lowered himself towards the ground, Safi bit into the side of the basket, nodding at Fortune to do the same.

Fortune bent herself down and did the same, trying not to think of where the basket had been before.

"Ohk. Ah the count off Thwee. Wuh. Two. Thwee!"

She lifted and hoped that Safi would be lifting with her.

Luckily for everyone (especially the basket), Safi was lifting at the same time as Fortune, and the basket was settled with relative ease on Zaphiro's back. Smiling, Safi stepped back to survey their handiwork. "Well, not too bad for a couple novice basket lifters!"

"Well, don't let your success go to your head." Zaphiro's voice was wry as he slowly straightened up, wings braced against the outside of the basket. "Until we're back at the teepee and this thing is back on the ground...pay attention!"

A bit direct; but this was a basket they were talking about, and Zaph didn't like the idea of it falling!

Generally, paying attention wasn't something you asked Fortune to do for the sole reason that her attention span lately was something of a goldfish. Then again, she had been that way for a while.

"Uh. Ok. I'll try!" After all, it was an important job making sure a foal didn't fall off another Soquili's back. That would be bad.

Especially if she was supposed to be it's 'mom'. Oh, crap. She was a mom.

Eyeing the two others for a moment, Zaphiro wondered for a mere moment just what he'd agreed to, then sighed. Hopefully the two of them would keep close, and if not...well, he had the basket in his wings. As long as his grip held, they'd be fine. That in mind, he carefully started off in the direction of the teepee...

Fortune steeled herself to actually pay attention and trotted beside him, nosing the basket every so often to keep it from sliding off.

"What've you been up to, Safi m'love? Done anything interesting lately? Slain any villains?"
PostPosted: Fri Feb 09, 2007 7:46 pm

On Zaph's other side, Safi was doing much the same thing as Fortune; the basket was mostly staying in place, but it still seemed to feel like moving. Still, he could understand that urge, and was able to talk and moniter at the same time.

"Oh, not too much; roamed about, discovered a cave with a friend, had my daughter come out of her basket, stuff like that; no villains, but we can't have everything. You? Slain any more snowthings?"

"Snowthings have fled from my fearsomeness!" Fortune giggled, "What's your daughter like? How do you like being a daddy?"

The mare was scared shitless about being a mother.

"Well, I can't blame them; you were quite terrfying!" The fact that Safi's voice was cheerful probably belied the sincerity of that statement, but Safi was so often cheerful that probably didn't matter at all.

"And I love it. Saiena is the sweetest little girl you could possibly imagine, and I'm totally loving this new responsibility. And I can tell you, Sai is going to LOVE being a big sister; she's already told me she needs some friends her own age."

"That's a pretty name. I wonder what this basket will be. Boy or girl. And what we should name it! I vote for Snowman but I've never been good with names." She grinned, "Whatcha think? Can we name it Snowman? Do you think Saiena will like me? What if she doesn't like the basket. Or me. What if..."

Fortune ran out of what ifs and just nosed the basket again.
