Awen had almost started to try to swim out of the way before Alec had stopped just infront of her. She smiled and saw his odd expression before he surfaced quickly. The girl chuckled inwardly as she followed him up.
"So, what do you think? Not so scary, huh?"

Alec nodded agreeingly and opened his mouth to answer but all that came out was a garbled voice and... water. He sheepishly winced and pressed his lips shut, the remaining water rushing out of his gills and freeing up the passageways for speech. "Ya! Ye were righ'. A' c'nt believe i' w's so easeh all alon'!" The youngster chuckled to himself at how stupid he was sounding. He was almost ashamed to have anyone else find out about his adventures in water-world but he knew he'd never be able to mask his excitement from Amaya.
"Thanks so much, Aw'n. Ye a-real beor!" He gave another goofy grin. Pausing for a moment, he looked up to the sky as if it was a giant watch to tell the time. "A' thin' a' betteh ge' back though."

Awen chuckled softly and nodded to the man. "It really is exhilirating the first time... and the second time.... hell I'm still loving it." She didn't exactly know what a beor was but she assumed it was something good, concidering he was happy and thanked her and whatnot.
Awen paused a moment thinking about getting back. Oh, and they thought getting him into the water was hard.... "Oh, um. Two things before we get ya back. Um. First, when you swim just keep swimming or you'll run out of breath. Always have to keep yourself moving, you are a shark after all. And the second is that we have duplexes that are tailored to our needs. They have little pools of water in them that lead out into the lake, if you'd like to be moved to one I'd inform the labs."

Alec's expression changed into the ever-attentive student, nodding in wonder as if everyone in the world were geniuses and it only took him a bit longer to catch up. Maybe he should've stayed in school...
"Ohhhh..." He gawked at the realization that he'd have to keep moving to breathe under there. Come to think of it, he'd never seen a shark stop moving on tv or in the movies before. Not if they weren't dead, anyways. As Awen mentioned the aquatic duplexes the boy perked to attention, an idea recently struck and now able to discuss. So they really did have water duplexes like what he could recall Billy uttering about. Up until how he'd revolted at the idea of segregating himself like that, moving from the Village, being different. Now it didn't sound so wrong. No, it was starting to sound very right. He was a fish now. He had to act like a fish. "A' think a'd like tha'..." The youngster quietly admitted, staring at a water beetle as it skidded between the two aquatic Islanders.
He seemed to struggle with something for a moment, mulling the thought through his mind until he could finally voice it. This was Awen afterall, she hadn't judged him yet since he'd known her. "D'ye think... D'theh let ye...?" He trailed off before furrowing his brow, scolding himself internally for beating around the bush. "A' w'nt 'Maya t'come too."
There. He said it.

"Hm." Awen put a finger to her chin as she had to think about this one a moment. "Well.... I don't think they'd mind all that much.... Just know that the land side of the duplex is smaller than a normal duplex, right? So she'd have less space."
She went on talking as if the Amaya thing wasn't much of a surprise. And in all honesty it wasn't. Amaya had been so adiment about expressing her concerns for the shark that she'd suspected something beyond friendship with the two.
"If you could both live comfortably like that... then I think it would be okay." Pausing again Awen looked the man over. "I just have no idea how you'll sleep.... I mean, I sleep under water... but I can just... well so far as I know I'm just sleeping at the bottom of the lake. I mean unless I ... sleep-swim... I can generally do fine sleeping under water."
That was one thingthat had always puzzled her anyway, do sharks sleep? She'd seen so many other fish just sit stagnent in the water, sitting in the shade of the dock or something of the sort... but sharks always had to move to live. It couldn't be the same for all fish, since some were quite content to just float there, but how did they ever sleep? Awen had never really thought of the complicated aspects of it. She could breathe and that's all that concerned her. The technicalities alluded her....
The girl shook her head and smiled. "Well, never mind anyway, you wanted to get back right? Would you like my help back...?"

Alec nodded throughfully. He'd have to really consider this before he made any brash decisions. He liked where he lived regardless of the fact that he hadn't even seen his favorite upstairs neighbor in months. The Village made him feel safe and secure, and it'd be a big step to move away - even if it really wasn't that far at all. More importantly, he had to think hard about Amaya and whether to venture into that sort of realm or not.
"Thanks again. A' think a' c'n make i' back meself." He smiled, disregarding any confusing concerns she'd expressed over his method of sleeping. He'd done just fine with his neck sticking out of the tub so far, yup. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
With a generous wave, the sharkboy made for the shore - underwater, with only his pronounced and characteristic dorsal fin protruding from the surface. On land, he dragged himself into his metal prison as he'd done many times before and gave another wave before wheeling away.
