As if he wasn't before, Saffron was certainly flailing now. "Mom! Oh Guardians, I am SO sorry! Please! I had no idea he would do that! Well, I did, but I didn't think..." he rambled, all the while trying to take the squirming child away from his mother before he did any more damage.
Almost miraculously, as soon as he was out of Takeko's arms and back into Saffron's, Devyn fell silent and still once more. Cooing softly, he turned, curling up against "Daddy" and immediately drifting off to peaceful slumber.
Saffron only stared in amazement. "I don't believe it..."
Takeko shook her head slightly, rather impressed as well. "He seems to have bonded very closely with you, my son. I'm afraid I can't tell you that you have an easy job ahead of you, but I have faith in you. I'll always be around to help you however I can as well." She was rubbing her arm subconsciously when she felt something wet spreading along her arm. Glancing down, she was surprised to see blood welling and dripping from a number of puncture wounds on her forearm. Four tiny holes in fact. Frowning, she spoke softly, almost sounding like she was in shock. "If you'll excuse me for a moment, I'll go get cleaned up..."
"M-Mom?!? Are you okay?" a very shaken Saffron stammered.
Ignoring the disturbance he seemed to have caused, Devyn curled up closer to Saffron, licking the coppery liquid from his shrinking fangs as he drifted into slumberland at last.
