"Up!" Anemone said shrilly, holding her arms out to the shadow: two bright spots of pink had appeared in her usually ice-pale cheeks, testament to how deeply excited she was. She appeared to not worry at all about Mystic's appearance: Terror had clambered up to the top of her head and was sitting patiently in her hair, looking like a ridiculous hat.

Leon sipped at his tea, hands a little too big for the dainty cup: he rolled his eyes at both Reyna and his partner, but it lacked spite. "If I constitute 'local talent', so be it," he said. "Actually, Cressida and I were looking at a couple suburbs about half an hour from here."

"What with having two children and two animals..." Cressida smiled fondly at the thought and fiddled with the handle on her teacup. "One of which is probably going to get very, very big," she added, "we're thinking that our apartment is much too small. After all, very few little girls want to share a bedroom with her brother forever." At that, she shot a sideways glance at Leon; it made precious little sense to the other woman but seemed to speak of mischief and old jokes.

Quixana watched as both little girls flocked immediately towards Mystic and quickly looked down at his hands to hide his frown. He had offered first, hadn't he? Maybe it was because he wasn't bit enough. It wasn't polite to get angry over that sort of thing. Forcing a bright smile back to his face, he lifted his head and once more patted the majestic tree. "It'll be an adventure," he announced.

Concerned, Courage nudged her head under her Forgotten's free arm and nuzzled into his side comfortingly.

"That I can understand," Reyna replied, "Thankfully I already had moved into this house when Sam came along, so to speak. Fragments does not seem to take up much space, though."

The ghost-dog in question was wriggling in quiet excitement as he peeked his head out from behind the branches of the trees at the children and their newfound shadow-friend. Slow! Time to play! Hurry! Fun-time now, yes??

Sam squealed in agreement and squirmed in Mystic's arms as the shadow reached to also pluck Annie up off the ground. He tucked them both carefully into a small play area that had been created up in the tree especially for little Sam by her beloved Uncle before extending one dark hand towards Xana.

'I believe I'll be needing your help in watching them,' he replied smoothly.

Annie squealed again at being up so high: she held Terror very closely in her arms, who didn't seem to mind the toddler suffocation as he was clutched close to her, and beamed with all the teeth in her mouth at Samara at the fun of it. "Inna air!" she said, not quite getting the main point that they were in a tree.

"I envy you there," said Leon morosely. "I don't know what's going to get bigger, Terror or Courage. And we need a damn aquarium for Terror. We were thinking about getting a swimming pool - Annie sleeps in a water tub right now, though God only knows how we'll keep her in freshwater."

"With luck and hard work. Nothing's too much for our babies." Somehow Cressida managed to make the cliche sound 100% sincere as she reached over to lace her fingers through Leon's.

Quixana looked at Courage and she nodded. Then he stepped forward and held out a hand to Mystic in acceptance. "Yes, please," he answered. Then, lowering his voice, he added, "I need to keep an eye on Meme. Can't let her get hurt, see?"

'That,' Mystic answered quietly with a bemused look as he lifted Xana up into the tree with the girls before following suit, 'Is what elder brothers are for.' He settled himself in front of the 'doorway' of sorts, as it was the only means of escaping the intertwined branches that formed the little hideaway.

Sam squirmed on top of a moss-colored pillow and went wide-eyed and still. She jumped slightly as she reached to sling an arm around Anemone. "Shhhhh," she said, "Pixies."

Reyna's brow furrowed for a moment as she contemplated having a child that preferred to sleep in water. "And here I thought getting Sam to sleep in her crib was a challenge," she replied in a sincere manner.

Pixies! Were they really going to see pixies? Anemone's eyes were huge and round and she looked nearly sick with excitement. Maybe they could catch one! Quixana could catch one for her! She was about to demand this but remembered Sam's pleas to be silent: maybe they were hunters now.

"'Challenge,'" Leon said dryly. "'Challenge.' Yeah. Annie's a challenge."

"Annie is a regular little Briar Rose of a challenge," Cressida agreed with an equal amount of cheer to her partner's blandness. "You have to change her water regularly."

Quixana craned his neck, looking around for the supposed pixies. He wrapped the fingers of one hand around a nearby slim branch. Tilting slightly, he leaned out further. "I don't see 'em," he whispered. "Are they colors?"

Sam sat is still as she possibly could. Event Fragments hardly moved and the wispy white smoke that continuously shifted all about his small form seemed to have slowed slightly though his very being ached to jump up and dance around out of sheer excitement of the moment.

Despite her best efforts, she squealed and clapped her hands to her mouth as she squirmed where she sat at the very first glimmer of light from a dark corner of the entwined branches. Sam's pixies were a little more like bugs -- lightening bugs to be exact, though they were far from ordinary bugs in that they changed color as they flittered about.

"PIXIES!"

Reyna smiled as she nodded towards Leon in understanding. She hadn't quite had issues with Sam save for the occasional tantrum that literally made things rattle and shake, but she could relate. She had suffered through Mystic's childhood after all, and there was hardly anything less of a 'challenge' than raising a shadow-child.

She opened her mouth as though to say something but clamped it shut as she caught the faint sound of her daughter squealing. She was either upset or having the time of her young life. She was personally hoping for the latter.
