Synrai brightened a bit at Link's question. Despite having spent the last two decades on Celestir, he still kept track of information concerning the other worlds, particularly Nathoran. He'd oftentimes travel within the realm of the Elves for information of this sort; usually perched in a tree above the gargantuan transports the Elves used to travel between the worlds. Here he'd listen to snippets of conversation. These conversations gave him a better insight into the goings on of Nathoran and the people which he had abandoned years before. Perhaps it was guilt that led him to listen in.
"Tainted have been appearing everywhere in other worlds," Synrai began. He remembered a conversation about attacks by the vile creatures on villages and homes. "More than usual. Most of these occurrences are random, by my reckoning. And none as far as I know have made it as far as Celestir. When I came to Nathoran years ago, there were nowhere near this many attacks. So something must be going on, but I'm at a loss as to what."
Wyvern looked at his brother skeptically.
"What's stopping them from coming here?" he asked. Synrai sighed, this time with an air of anxiety.
"You remember the Sacred Jewel divides the planes; the Void from the material," he said. "The protection here is more than what it is on the other two worlds. But all of these summonings are shifting the balance. I wouldn't be surprised if in the weeks to come, Fallen start appearing here, too."

{I fixed your profile, Memory_Melancholy. biggrin }
Apollo ran the icy tundra, his breath coming in bursts. He'd stopped for a few hours rest, though now he regretted having done so. When he had awoken the next day, the Ookami had heard the wicked baying of his pursuers in the distance. How they knew where at any given moment he was completely escaped him. In any case, Apollo had been forced to flee. He was no match for a dozen Fallen alone.
He heard the sound of a fight ahead to his left, and the bitter tang of Fallen wafted through the breeze. Obviously, there had been some sort of melee between the Ookami and a Fallen. A large pack would need food for that sort of strength. Apollo licked his chops. This meant that he could eat, though given the proximity of the group of hellhounds at his back, he knew he couldn't stay for long.
When he saw the forms of the Ookami in the distance, Apollo stopped running, and padded his way closer to observe. He glanced behind him out of habit, always aware of the fact that he was being pursued.

Link nodded and turned back around, soon lost in thought. The news worried her a bit but it wasn’t a panic kind of worry. She would have to keep a sharp eye out for a while and try to find out more.
Soon they were at her home, a quaint building snuggled in a grove of trees. Link went to her door to unlock it. She had made the lock herself, a perplexing mechanism made of stone; an optical illusion of sorts. You had to move the stones in a certain way to unlock the door. There were thousands of ways you could maneuver the stone, but only one way will open it.
Tinkering with the lock for no more than a few seconds, Link opened the door and held out an inviting arm, asking the small group to come in.

Reyen thought about going with the three the the house. He didn't need food nor did he need rest. There was no logical sense to go with them. Which is precisely why he did. He was also curious with the two brothers. The one brother seemed well informed, much like himself. The Dragon must have had plenty of experiences so far in his lifetime. Sticking with him for a while longer might prove interesting.
As they walked Link turned around and made some hand gestures. Reyen got the idea that she was asking about some new stuff happening or something like that. Synrai responded with the news about the Tainted. And he said, as much as he knew, that none had gone to Celestir yet. They had before. Not many, but some had. He was right in saying that the Sacred Jewel's protection here was stronger. He was also right in saying that it was weakening. Any Dragon sensitive to such things could easily sense it, much like Reyen.
"Perhaps another Great War?" Reyen added in. By now they had reached Link's house. She opened the door and invited them in, to which Reyen did enter the small house. He had a house... well, more like a Palace. He scarcely stayed din it though.
Reyen turned and looked at Link before giving her a slight bow. "I thank you for your hospitality."

Wyvern was the first inside the door (of course), nodding to Link and grinning sheepishly.
"That's a nice lock, Link," he said. "There's no way anyone would be able to get in here." Wyvern stood beyond the threshold of the door, waiting for the others to pass by. He gazed around the room happily, and resisted the urge to poke everything around him.
Synrai took no notice of the lock, but his mood seemed to have lightened. And now that he thought about it, he was rather hungry. He felt relaxed.
"A Great War," mused Synrai. "Perhaps. But as we know Riven was banished long ago to the Void. He is now nothing more than spirit. Could he lead another army against us?"

"Ahhhhhhhh," Suriken released his breath in a hissing, fetid manner and his knives stopped twirling abrupty in his hands. The gaze of his shadowy eyes now laid heavily on the summoners staff, wary of this ones supposed power. He barely noticed the pets movement, though its position was marked instantaneously within his whiriling subconscious, as the majority of his focus was bent in observation of this fellow creature of The Void.
"Father Darknesss," he began, aware of the slight hiss obscuring his speech but not bothered by it in the slightest, "He sseldom speaksss. How ," he paused, leaning forward ominously, "Should it be that I would believe ssuch a claim? What iss it Father Darkness would wissh to ssay to you?" With his last eerily echoy word he raised his eye level once again, realizing excitedly the tensely faint challange etched into the summoner's body. The knives began twirling once again. "A fight perhapss you wish?" A harsh cackle escaped him and he crouched slightly with an accompanying shrug of the shoulders. "I have dealt with...your kind. I sshall gladly do sso again. Do you so wish thiss?"
The blackened armor on his chest, shoulders, arms and legs grew wicked spikes and a section of the chest plate jutted upwards forming a jaggad sheild before the Tainted's bound face. The remainder of his wrappings took on a steely appearance that belied its ingenious flexibility as every wiry muscle tightened in anticipation. Now Suriken waited.

Reyen lifted his head and eyed Synrai. "He's a spirit, nonetheless. The sad fact is that there are people who still study and practice the Dark Arts. They become corrupt, and thus, a pawn to Riven. I'd say he could easily form an army of some sort. Whether this will happen or not is not for me to decide." Reyen said as he took a seat in the chair. He had given this 'Great War' business a lot of thought. And yet he still could not decide what to do. Simply not enough information to do so. Did Synrai even? By the sounds of it he had doubts about a Great War even occurring again.
These things could be discussed. The two brothers seemed hungry and wanted to rest. Reyen would not trouble them, more specifically Synrai, with such matters.
"So.. We're all Dragon's here. Which clan's do you belong to?"

Axys snorted, a smirk playing on his lips.
"Of course you would doubt me," he said. " 'Father Darkness' speaks often enough with those he trusts to do his bidding. He has told me a great many things. A second war draws near. Those who answer his call may share in his dominion over the planes.
As for fighting you, I have a far greater task to perform here. But I will fight, if you get in my way." Axys eyed the creature now with a glare of complete confidence. He shifted into a defensive stance; his left hand angled forward, ready to perform a spell, and his right hand behind, so that the staff was pointed over his head at the Fallen before him.
"You want proof that I have spoken with the Dark One? Behold." He flicked his left hand forward, esposing the palm. There, ingrained upon the flesh, was a scarlet tattoo in the shape of a broken sun. The sigil of Lord Riven.

As Kokori watched the icy wind beat itself against the brave Ookami below she decided that it would not hurt if she lended them some small help. It took mere moments for her to manipulate the flows of Wind, diverting the harshest gusts away from the pack and sending them to either side or whistling above. She did not remove them entirely, the last thing she wished was for the wolfish beings to become suspicious and defensive, but the result allowed only the helpful, more natural winds to reach the pack. She also hoped that this might lead the pack onto the scents of much desired food.
She had circled lower to see the flows of Wind easier but now as she climbed back into the heights of the sky she noticed a lone Ookami racing along the ice. Curious, she drifted back and realized with a start that this creature of Orcos was closely pursued by searching creatures of The Void. She was startled by the sheer amount of these evils in existance in this frozen landscape. What dire purpose could the shadows of the Viod be pursuing here among the races both above and below the ice? What did this mean for all of the worlds? On impulse she carried the buffeting winds which barraled past the pack ahead and sent tehm shooting over the lone Ookami and into the Tainted behind.

As Reyen thanked her Link motioned that it was not a problem, but not knowing if he could understand, simply nodded. She looked on at Wyvern in amusement and rolled her eyes.
Mussing his hair, she motioned, “You’re such a goof . . . anything specific you want to eat? I just restocked the pantry, so I’m bound to have something to your fancy.”
Noticing Synari relaxed a bit more, Link went to a window to let some air in. Gazing out the window for a moment to catch a glipmse of the still rising sun, she sighed.

The spikes and face shield which had grown up withdrew almost immediatly and the tainted's binding lost its steely sheen. Regaining his streightened yet relaxed posture Suriken cocked his head in thought. This second war was no suprise to him. He had been spreading as much chaos as possible since he had done away with his summoner and would harldy stop at the comings of another war. War was nothing more than another playground.
Pointing with one knife he gestured to the mark. "Hardly a marking given to a fool." Beneath the bindings of his chest there was carved that same symbol, in black. He had done it himself in a gloriously dark act of submission and he knew one day it would become a blazen red. "You say the Father hass given you a true task?" He bent himself slightly at the waist and nodded his head a fraction. "I work in the shadow of the Father's will, yess? I have done many a deed for Father Darkness and ruined ssmall pieces of every world that with time will lead to an incurable rot." He straightened once again and lowered his knives. "Perhapss it is that you wish for me to ask you your task? Or perhaps you wish to hear of mine?" This summoner was far more intriguing than any other creature of The Void he had encountered before. It was concievable that this one would push all of his schemes into place once and for all. Either this would be so or he would be forced to terminate its existance. Either way it would be a great game.

Wyvern smiled a bit as the older dragon ruffled his hair. What would he like to eat? Normally, the young dragon would catch his own prey, and eat it while still in his draconic form. However, the human palette was completely different than that of a dragon's. In human form, Wyvern found that he craved anything that humans would describe sweet. Right now, though, he was definitely in the mood for some steak.
"Meat," he therefore stated simply. What he wouldn't give for some deer....
Synrai gazed thoughtfully around Link's house as she opened a window, letting the gentle breeze play upon his face. He closed his eyes for a moment, sighing. It was still early in the morning, and there was a full day ahead for him. He had planned to go amongst the Elves again for any news outside Celestir. It would be quite a distance from where he was now. Of course, all the interesting information came later in the afternoon anyway. For now, he calmed himself, sinking into meditation.
~~~
Apollo could smell the scent of the pack on the breeze. Somehow the winds had picked up in the last few moments. He strongly suspected that there was a storm coming. Suddenly a gust of wind flew right over his head. Instinctively, Apollo stopped, sliding across the ice on his bare belly. The wind passed over him however, and he realized he was unharmed.
Strange, he thought. Wind storms usually didn't do that. Apollo looked behind him, and realized that the faint howling behind him had stopped. Perhaps the passing wind had hit them. If so, it was a good sign, and Apollo thanked the gods for a stroke of luck at last... ~~~
"I am certain the Dark One appreciates your work done in his name," returned Axys to the dark creature. This Fallen could prove to be a valuable ally, especially given that he was obviously so loyal to the Dark One. He would obey any orders given by Lord Riven without question.
"My task," continued the summoner, lowering his staff as the creature lowered his knives. The end of the staff made a dull thumping noise on the ground. "is to open up a permanent portal to the Void here on Celestir. It is to be done in secret. However, to keep a portal open in any place for such a long time will require a great amount of tribute. Especially here, where the Sacred Jewel shines brightest. Someone must pay it, and keep paying it for the portal to remain open. The only beings with the strength to keep this open for such a long time are found all around us. Dragons and Elves. I have been charged to kidnap either a Dragon or an Elf in secret for this to happen. When the portal is open, Tainted may come and go freely at will in this world.
"You have seen the two Dragons, I am sure, who were sparring in the forest? My lord desires that I keep a close watch on them. He wants to know not only their strength, but their force of will. Once the portal is nearly complete, I am to test both in these areas..." Axys smiled. He would relish that particular fight. Silverwing had much to answer for...
“I think it’s the herd Noca!” Kenia exclaimed happily. In this season only one herd of Noibu (a large Orcos animal much like a Deer or Moose) remained in this area, the others migrated further south to experience a more mild winter, but it wandered in and out of different territories looking for the lichen that managed to grow on the ice. Most of the hunting party was quite happy that they would have a big meal to bring back to the younger Ookami and the ones charged with guarding them, not to mention their own bellies. But the fact that it was the herd just made the two pack leaders slightly more nervous although Cavanté didn’t want to show it. “You smell him too don’t you, Hene?” “Yeah, but I don’t recognize the sent he might not be from another pack.” “I should hope so, we’re still pretty far inside our territory too much for another pack just fallowing the herd. Not that I couldn’t take care of them if it was.” “I’m sure you could, but still...” “I know you could Noca!” The younger Ookami piped up “But I don’t recognize his pack sent, he smells like he is from far away.” Cavanté knew he could trust Kenia’s nose, even when she was tracking Noibu that he was just beginning to notice himself. A Noibu would more then feed the entire pack for a while, but due to it’s shear size it was hard to take down. “Hey!” He yelled, knowing that the other was close enough so that he could hear him, “If you want something to eat from us come here and join the hunt, if not you’re on your own.”
Apollo, still a little dazed from the storm incident, was surprised to hear himself addressed. Most packs stayed away from him like the plague. Nevertheless, it was good to be on speaking terms with his kind once more. The lone wolf cantered gracefully towards the pack, head held a little lower than he would have liked; a show of respect to the pack leader. He had no intention of doing anything other than help with a meal. He was certain the group of Fallen would be on his tail again, and he knew when that time came, he would have to leave.
He stopped at the edge of the group, gazing at Cavante--the proud pure white wolf who held his head high. He was obviously the leader here. No one else looked like they would dare to challenge him. Apollo nodded once, indicating that he would participate in the hunt and aid in any way he could. He was very hungry. And of all people he knew how hard it was to bring anything down alone....
