I was told that I shouldn't use that name much or in front of others anyway

It strikes me that a magical name isn't really a "magical name" if you just make it up. It has to be given to you somehow... One of my friends desired one when I was tutoring him about magic....So I gave him one.
I was given mine as a sign from my God and Goddess, Hephaestus and Mother Gaea. It was a vision of a acid green Eyes with a blue gem where the iris and pupil should have been. I have taken the name Blind Lapis.

Well to start my journey on my magickal name after reading this entire thread, I have a few things to clear up. I'm reading a lot of people saying 'my god' and 'my goddess.' How do you know which one is yours?? I've been on the quest to figure this out since February @_@ Maybe you guys can help me.

From there maybe I can find out my magickal name, and i'm also curious about this True Name thing I read earlier in the thread. How do you know who you were in past lives? How do you find out your True Name?

I thought that a magical name was one of personal use or of significance imporatns

Mine was from Lady Brigid. xP Uhh, my name means Warrior Girl. But I'm not a warrior so I really don't understand it that well.

your spiritual name is only ment to be secrate because most old pagans believed that for someone to know your true name gave them complete control over you. not in a voodoo sense, but that they could stop or open the flow of your chi and make you inable to cast spells, or increase your spiritual energy. but then again your spiritual name is the name of your soul, and some believe that only the owner of the soul can control the soul.

only threw meditation, dreams, and divination can you discover past lives, and your true name. as for the god or goddess, that only comes with research. i personaly, being a celtic druid, mainly pray to the goddess brigit. because she is the goddess of healing, black smithing, and poetry. and i do all three. but of corse i will always pray to mother nature in all three of her forms. (four if you count fall)
