Well, that's because Gundams are designed to look like techno-samurai. If you notice, zakus look sort of like modern day soldiers, in contrast with the original gundam.

its true they do, but they are trying to keep the whole momentum of gundam in it, it is a classic you dont mess with classics.

yes so very true like power rangers i use to be a fan of that but they kept on remaking it with different characters. but i really like gundam seed i think its one of the betters of gundam series right next to gundam wing. yes yes.

theres only a few ponts that i ever see the same ,
-the guy in the mask whose always blond of course
-the feudal war against two opposites
-of course the guy getting the girl(usually a romeo and juliet scenario)
-young men with exceptional knowlege of gundams
-colonies in space
-and of course gundams
-the secrecy of being related to somebody
-political stand points
-lots of people dying

i wouldnt necessarilly call it mashed together, unless you want to say all anime is mashed together which to me it isnt. You could also say most novels are the same as well i mean seriously thats why they have genres.

You might have heard the fact that they actually re-used the line, "This is no zaku boy! No zaku!"

The being pulled from the first guindam. The main characters are practically geniuses, and some of them have mental problems. Also... correct me if I'm wrong, but Zaft seems to parallel Zeon in weaponry. You can look at the fact that they use underwater suits while I can't think of any Federation ones. The Federation also didn't have mobile suits in the beginning, similar to the Federation versus Zeon, which put them at a disavantage in the beginning. The Gundam the Guntank, and the Guncannon were all prototype suits. Then the characters in Seed basically go renigade, which the characters in the UC century do in one series, I can't remember which one right now, but the remanents of Zeon aren't good, but neither is the federation, so you've got a cap-ship led by Bright with some of the best crew in the system, besides they had Char and Amuro on their side. Similar to having Athrun and Kira on one saide, although Char and Amuro hate eachother.

That's kind of Major points in the anime. >.> Seriously. They kick it off similarly and dive into the middle similarly, however the UC saga is... much longer than Seed is at the moment, although it seems that Seed may actually come after UC, even though the UC mobile suits were clearly better... Plus there's only one newtype in Seed, that being the guy in the mask.. who is parallel to Char in personality and mentality. Char wanted to destroy the Earth since he sthough gravity twisted the minds of humans and made them evil, while La Cruche wanted to kill all humans because he thought they were evil.
