I live in Manchester. I study at the Machester Metropolitan so I live on campus there...
But since I was born in Yorkshire, I'm not sure I count. stare

Eirwyn I know somebody in the Doctor Who Guild who is from Scotland but currently going to school in Manchester. Hey Eirwyn! mrgreen Yup, me, Miss Scotland-Yorkshire-Manchester anywhere... Plus my hairdresser said that Hebden Bridge wasn't really in Yorkshire! (Cos it's only just in Yorkshire...) Cheek.

Maybe she likes the curriculum better where she's going?

Friends of mine, who lived in a university town, were desperate for their student children to go to a uni in a different city, just to get them away from home... lol Not that they didn't love them, it just seemed like an excellent opportunity for a change of lifestyle for all concerned... biggrin

Well, Roobarb lives on the coast of Scotland, so I don't think getting away from home is the issue in choosing Manchester over Yorkshire.

Yes, you have to go where the curriculum suits what you want to do... which isn't always possible at the university or college that's closest to home. In my case, the getting away from home factor loomed large - going away to college was a very convenient escape route. xd

I just wanted to be 200 miles away from Wigtown... I actually applied to go to Edinburgh but they were very snobby and a boy who I fell out with went there so I thought 'Nah Manchester's more fun'. Which it is!
The alternative was Glasgow. But I could get home too easily from there.

I wanted to go to Welbeck college in Leicestershire but someone, [who will remain nameless, but I'm certain someone in this guild will be able to tell who I'm refering to] put their foot down and told me if I went, I stayed gone.
Such a loving Someone. Wait till Someone learns that when I learn to drive, I'm taking my stuff, taking my dog and moving out to get myself a pad with someone else.
