Aetera opened her mouth to reply to him, but no sound came out. She tried louder, with more effort, to no avail. She went down, got a mouthful of water, came back up and with a little bit of effort, she spoke again. "Thank you." she wanted to ask if he could help her, but she didn't know how magic oriented people who lived on the surface were. She swam a little closer, to get a better look at him, and her blue wet hair glistened in the moonlight all aroun dher as it floated in the water.

Dreamstar squatted down and laid down on his stomach. He was just as curious about her as she was of him. He hadn't seen one since he was twenty two and he had never seen one as close before. The moonlight hit the water and bounced into his teal eyes, making his face quite visible. "You guys don't come to the surface often. What's the occasion?"

She stared at his face, shameless and unaware that it was rude to stare. She swam to the edge and pressed her stomach and scaled tail to teh sandy and rocky lake floor. Her face was about six inches from his, and she smiled. "I hate it down there.. I want to be up there.. I.. d'no." she was glad taht he knew what she was, but, she didn't know why he was so interested.

"Up here?" Dreamstar asked, pulling back only a little bit, "It seems so much bigger, down there. You can go up, down, left, right, diagonally... On land, you can go sideways... and... sideways... Oh! And you can also go sideways!" He joked, "Unless you can fly, but that's usually reserved for birds and stuff..."

Aetera laughed and shook her head. "But, .." she got another mouthful of water. She was getting quite good at this now.. "We cannot go outside of teh lake.. It is so small.. and no one comes here. Not anymore.." she tried to explain, flicking her tail back and forth.

"I suppose if you were stuck to a lake..." Dreamstar murmured, tapping his chin. "Guess we can't change how we're born though, right?" He asked, picking up the language once he got used to hearing it again. It was helping him relax, too. Memories of Amber were faint, but they were becoming more solid. They weren't dreamlike anymore.

"You seem troubled." she said, fascinated by this person. She could tell he was male, and she couldn't help but be attracted to him, even if only slightly. He was the first different person she'd seen in ages. The mer men were hideous, and the attractive ones were stuck up. Her selection was few, to say teh least. She crossed her arms and leaned on them, tilting her head to the side. "Yeah. Lakes blow.." she said, rolling her eyes. She'd picked up the lingo from ongoers, and she hadn't the slightest idea what really seh was implying.

Dreamstar paused and sat up strait, "It's just been a weird day." He said, staring up at the moon for a few seconds. "So, lakes blow, huh? I can see how that would get boring considering how long merpeople live. Well... compared to humans, anyway." He explained, wondering if he'd end up living forever. Perhaps Fate had something in mind for him that needed him to stay alive a little longer.

"I wish I could grow legs and walk out o fhere, but it's nto that easy." she said, shrugging, and getting mroe water in her mouth. She just sat, looking up to the moon as well."Ahh.. I see.." she sympathized.

Dreamstar shrugged, "Well, find a way and grow some legs." He said, looking back down at her, "Though, I must admit, I've been kind of curious about down there..." He murmured, glancing at the water as it rippled with her movement. After a while, he smiled. "I'll make you a deal. Find a way to show me your home for just a day and I'll find something in my mum's old library to help you." He was really trying to find an excuse not to deal with meeting Amber again, but he was honestly interested.

"Well, we'd have to come up with a good story, but I've come across a bunch of temporary mermen spells for humans. The problem is finding the other way around. I can go get it!" she said excitedly, offering him her hand in friendship. "I'll be back in no time, if you promise to stay right here."

Dreamstar took it and smiled, "I'm not going anywhere." he said, folding his legs. He had to admit, the thought was pretty exciting. He decided to take that time to pull off all his bangles and rings and anything else that could get lost in the water. It would be a while.

As Aetera swam with speed back to her 'house' she was glad that she had been the top wind sprinter in her class... As she flew in the front door of their coral like home, (I know .. coral in Lake water.. shh!)) her father stopped her.
"Why are you in such a hurry?" he asked, the sternness every evident in his voice.
"Uhh.. I was with friends.. By the by, father, can a friend stay the night?" when he asked who, she bit her lip. He knew them all. "Aerria. Remember, from speed swimming?" she asked, realizing she'd have to sneak the boy in for the most part with an answelrike that. Upon his approval, she raced into her room and grabbed the book off of her desk. Out the window and back to the surface, she actually over shot it. She had measured wrong, and come out at full speed inthe middle of the lake. Now in an aerrial, she got her head, and dove back into the water, and swam over to him, slowing donw before popping up with the book. "Here. I got it." she said, a little winded.

Dreamstar had just slipped his sister's coat off when she returned and smiled, "That was pretty fast." He said, watching her for a few moments, "So, you have the spell, right? Anything I need to know before I go with you?" He asked, teal eyes falling on the book she carried with her.

"Your clothes will get very uncomfortable under here. You might want to take them off, get in the water, then say the spell. You have to do the spell in water, or i'll never be able to get you in here." she said, flipping through the old deteriorating pages. Once onto the page mirroring another iwtha diagram, it had a simple elven spell, "Elune thalas, medres torrek." she said, and nothing happened. "B-but, you have to say it, and, oh, you need this." she reached down, and rand her hands, starting at ribs, down her scales until she ofund a loose one. Tearing it until it came off, she handed it to him. "Put it on your.. uhh.. lower abdomenen." she said, smiling weakly. "Elune thalas, medres torrek."she repeated.
