I detest the "er" spelling. It's THEATRE, people!
And firefox tells me I misspell it stare

Well, it depends if your talking to an American really...
British_________American
Theatre________Theater
Centre_________Center
Even pronounciation is different. For example the word "aluminium", the british pronounce it "Al-you-min-ee-um", and the Americans pronounce it "Al-oo-min-um"
