Haha, I agree with you, most Asians do play piano. All my brothers finished playing piano, and I do too. I guess that's how it is, playing some musical instrument.

I have been playing the piano for goddamn 7 years of my freaking life. In a way, I thought it was a waste, but it was grateful to know how to read music, and etc. But geez, 80 bucks a month for a lesson, that's a rip-off I say.

But I remembered from every piano recitals, every students are Asians, it's crazy, and it's insane to see some parents take it so seriously of their kids playing piano.

I've been playing piano for 2 and something years now. I'm playing harder peices than I should .____. I really love the piano. I'm not too lazy to practice. Before the piano I played trombone. Yes, I am a boner tromboner trombonist. I don't like my music teacher so much because she's so adapt to students who don't know squat about music, and when she gets students that have already played a different instrument for a while, and are actually used to reading it, she can be frustrated to take lessons from. Also I heard playing piano helps with your typing, so yeah x3.
Sometimes... actually most of the times, I wish I could be like those Asian child prodigies who started out when they were 3 years old. That's what I'm going to do if I ever have children. Make them play 'til they're sick of it >=3 Which will be never!
$80... $60?! ._____. I think ours is $100... OH WAIT! SHE TEACHES MY LITTLE BROTHER AND I SO I THINK THAT'S $50 xDDD
I'm going to stop taking piano lessons, just because now, my teacher is entering me into that stage where you basically know everything and all you need to get better i practice and get harder songs... I'm also stopping piano lessons so that I can take Viola lessons. 3nodding

I've played piano for 11 years, and I'm one year into violin. The Suzuki Association in America is the biggest load of hypocrisy I have ever had the misfortune of being part of, the reason being that after one year of playing violin, I can play better than the kids who started when they were four and are my age now. My way of bucking the system is just doing so well that I progress way faster than anybody else. blaugh

And believe me, the piano stereotype is true--- BUT more so for people who are actually IN Asia and have lived there for their whole lives. It's a standard skill to know how to play at least one instrument there, and piano is what most people play. Here, I'm the only Asian in my grade who can actually PLAY worth anything. In Asia, girls and boys alike play it, and believe me, most of them do. They're usually really good compared to the pianists here because of the "Asians do everything better" thing. On the average, Caucasian kids either quit early on because they have no discipline and/or no desire to play, or if they do continue, they go at a slow pace because they have other more pressing things like sports.
