I was talking about when they were together...They aren't friends right now. Clark did tell Lana his secret once.. I'm saying his dishonesty is because Lana didn't know his secret. If Lana knew his secret and he knew that she knew his secret then he wouldn't be dishonest anymore since he would have nothing to hide.

zach61092 The only reason why it didn't work out was because of his secret.. That's not why. Clark could have told her his secret and she probably would have accepted it. The main reason it didn't work out was trust issues: Clark didn't trust Lana to know his secret (or to spend time with Lex), and Lana didn't trust Clark to keep anything to himself. When it comes down to it, they never really had a normal, healthy relationship, which is depressing because I feel like they should have, and then it could have been ended on more amicable terms.

But why would he want to tell lana when they are like heated with each other.
Whenever lana and clark meet or something one of them has to be a smart a** and say something.
I think clark would tell her if they wernt bitches to each other half the time.

Well, he can't tell her now. But if he'd told her back when they were dating (or even before, like, back in season three when they were friends) I think she would have been quite loyal to him.
Although, I thought her reaction in Reckoning was weird. After all the "secrets and lies" business, by telling her the truth Clark as good as admitted that he had lied to her; I felt like she should at least have thought about that.

I'm confused. I'm talkign about the only reason Clana broke up was because Clark was being Dis honest because of his secret.

When you put it like that, I half agree. It was also because Lana was lying about spending time with Lex, though. When it comes down to it: trust issues.

Foetus In Fetu When you put it like that, I half agree. It was also because Lana was lying about spending time with Lex, though. When it comes down to it: trust issues. They had a few arguements about that but it wasn't really a big issue. You could actually could blame the secret on that one too.. If he told her his secret then she wouldn't of been working with Lex.

True, but she made the conscious decision to work with Lex; that shouldn't have been a factor in Clark deciding whether or not to tell her. I think it was a big issue. Clark just didn't bang on about it quite so much as Lana did about him keeping secrets (mostly because he was just too prepared to accept that everything was his fault and that Lana could do no wrong). Lex was actually a major reason why he felt he couldn't trust her to know.

I agree with Foetus. I mean Lex was a contribution to the break up. Although it was a lot more then that, but Lex is a person Clark could no longer find himself trusting. Ever since he found out about Lex's "file" on Clark from the crash in pilot, Clark knew Lex was not the one he was going to be sharing his deep dark secret with. When Lex and Clark started pulling away from each other like they did, Clark knew even more that Lex was a threat to his life. Not so much the whole "killing" him aspect as much as if Lex exposed Clark for what he was which would make Clark's life a living hell for him. Knowing Lana is working with your one enemy isn't going to make you feel all bubbly inside.
