Ravenwolf Maluc Fieri I wonder... would Sephiroth or Cloud count. They're simply clones of Jenova.... they're not too different from Zidane, however with that one most likely up for speculation... I'll go with Fran, the only problem I have with her is her name... I just don't like that name.... Fran... *shakes head* she could've done so much better with an awesome name. Haha, my brother was saying the same thing. But she has to have a viera name, and I don't think they wanted to have a main character with no vowels in her name. I don't mind the name myself; I think sometimes a normal name works better. (My brother also wants me to inform you that Cloud and Sephiroth aren't clones of Jenova.) Yeah but "Fran"? could they have come up with a more unattractive ugly housewife name? I mean... they should've just gone with something cool and unique rather than something like that. ((your brother should play the game again if that's what he thinks.))

Red XIII for me i would say fran but i really think they should have though of a better name (come on FRAN??? hell i could have some up with that!(yes i am insuling myself and my nameing people skills))

Wow, hard question...there's too much grey area, and too many cool characters. I guess I'd go through a few games:
VII:
Humanoids, not really human: Cloud, Sephiroth, Vincent
Non-human: Red XIII
IX:
Humanoids: Zidane
Non: Vivi
X:
does Auron count? Technically, he was a fayth...but Tidus was a memory, or something...dammit...
Non:Kimahri
Chocobos, mogs, cactuars, and summons have to get honorable mention, though...
I didn't really pick a character. As an aspiring artist/character designer, there's too many good ones... sweatdrop
