I always like the first red version.
It was a lot easier to keep a good pace going and not fall behind.

smile I can consider the Johto versions as the best. It was the easiest o eek all the games. Gold and silver actually let you go to two regions at once. No other pokemon game can do that. I wish there was enough space on a DS cartridge that allows you to go to Hoenn, Kanto and johto as well as Sinnoh. That will be kick a**

would hve soo much fun if you could free lance in this game, and by some sort of random decisions play on either the hero/villan/breeder/contest artist/ or plain champ of the game, with some or limited interaction with a storyline, a basic, lets see what i can do to the max.
but all the maps would need to be introduced, and it would be like the crystal version pluss emerald, plus diamond/pearl after you beat the game variety of pokemon and maps, and they need to throw in the 4 islands, along with sevie islands, because idk, i think that is sorta a non sequirt that is needed for all us deticated fans...
also, the vanishing city in ruby, along with a tech city like in deoxis the movie.
a basic mini montague of all the games, with hard gyms and about 5 rivals, 4 evil organizations, 6 proffessors (including Gary)
(did i miss anything?)

Its kindof a tie for me. Sapphire is great with the graphics but Silver was just plain awesome with the chance to go to both area's and get every badge, and the story was awesome as well.

I would have to say that my favorite is maybe Emerald. Not sure why except maybe it allows you to choose between Latias and Latios. After that, then Diamond and Yellow.

Oh, HELL no, you did NOT forget Crystal. stressed
My favourite, by the way. The new graphics are wonderful, but Crystals gameplay was great. Though I loved Sapphire as well, for all of the plot going on. And, you know, it's blue, and my birthstone... sweatdrop

I love/loved Crystal. I played my game so much that now the internal memory is dead. crying I wish they would make a game like crystal (and gold and silver) where you could go to all the different regions (Though i'm pretty sure I'm not the first to say this). sweatdrop

Gonna go with Gold. It forged a lot of fond memories for me, a lot of connections, and, quite frankly, lance displayed how an elite four member SHOULD act--A total G-man, nuking the s**t out of criminal organizations. HYPER BEAM MUO HO HOOO.
Also, it... how to put this? Because there were two regions, it felt like more of a 'world'. I *loved* that--you couldn't even Fly from region to region, either; the mountains were too high and treacherous for even Flying types...
