Leini skidded to a stop behind the maned wolf. She managed to keep up pretty well.

Leini looked up at the ledge upon hearing the word 'climb'. But she figured that if Tsuki came here, it had to be safe.
That's what she assumed anyways.

"So... let's go," Leini suggested.

The wind had seemed to pick up its speed as they drew closer.
Sure, it was night-time, but in the distance there was a rattle of thunder, and forked lightning flashed above. The ground itself, near the hill, was damp, wet with rain that had recently fallen.

"Ah, it seems like a storm's just passed," Tsuki said, pointing her muzzle to the air and taking in a few deep breaths. The scent of fallen rain met her nose, "Hmmm... it seems like the storm's far away. It's passed. Lucky it didn't rain where we were... I guess the rain just... veered off towards the Southlands, instead of coming towards the High Grass."

She shook herself, and made sure that she was prepared, mentally, to climb to the top of the ledge. She had done it once or twice before... but, then again, that was with her brother and mother's assistance.
Still, she was brave. Old enough. Mature enough. She could do this...

Right?

"This way," she yipped, and strode sure-footedly out towards the cliff's edge, "You can see the best stars from out here."

She squinted. What was that her mother had always said to her?

'Tsuki, remember that you must always keep away from the...'

Still deep in thought, Tsuki was too busy concerntrating to really know where she was headed. Her paws met a mossy rock, and she slipped, paws skidding on the wet grass, and came to a sprawling stop just in time to see the ground almost fall away from her.

'... edge.'

Laini sniffed the air as well. The air held a lot of moisture in it. From the rain, she guessed.

"Seems so," Leini said with a grin. It was odde though. She never been in a rain storm. She liked water, so it couldn't be that bad, right?

Leini followed her. The maned wolf said she'd been here before, so it was safe.

Right?

But she wouldn't doubt her friend. Leini watched her friend tumbled and she watched in horror as her friend made it to the edge. She thanked the stars that he friend didn't roll clear off of the edge. she carefully made her way to her friend and bit down gently on the scruff of the white wolf.

She didn't bite too hard, more like she was going to carry her. Leini pulled the maned wolf away from the edge as her heart pounded in her chest.

Tsuki quivered, and gave Leini a thankful lick as she was set down.

Her eyes were glazed over, wet with fright, and her body had frozen in fear. How could she have nearly... gone over?! She could have easily died back there...

And to think, she'd exposed Leini to the same danger. What would have happened if Leini had been the one to fall off? What then?
She brought her friend here, when she couldn't even protect herself?!

Tsuki's face darkened, and she put a paw over her face.

"Aha...ha...haha..." she gave a nervous laugh, and somehow, the laugh grew louder, "Ha ha ha! How could I do that? Seriously! Oh, sheesh, I thought I was... was..."

Gonna die.

"A goner! Haha, lucky you pulled me out of that one, Leini!"

Her paw still blocked her face. Only her smile could be seen, but her eyes were covered. She laughed more, chuckling, trying to make everything seem like a big mistake. But she felt so... shocked.

Leini's heart was still racing, but it was starting to slow down.

"Are you okay...?" the wild dog asked. The wolf was... laighing? Maybe... she was trying to laugh to get rid of the fear. "Maybe we shouldn't have come up..." Leini said

"I mean... it was wet..." Leini said. She took a deep breath to calm herself further.

Tsuki's paw still covered her face. When she lowered it, however, her eyes were wet with fear.

She smiled, wiping the strange 'wet' from her face with a forepaw.

"Don't worry, Leini!" she proclaimed, her heart pounding, "I... I want to show you something. It's... just over that rock..."

Thud, thud.

Her heart sure was racing fast! Tsuki could hardly keep up with it. Still, she willed herself to go further. She stepped up, one paw in front of the other, hoping that Leini was following her.

"Just go right behind me. The ground should be stable enough to continue."

'I'll go in front,' she thought, 'so if I fall, I can fall first.'

Slowly, the view could be seen from the cliff. The stars shone bright... so bright, indeed, that Tsuki couldn't help herself from gasping. It was so... beautiful! A perfect night for stargazing... now that the storm had passed, and carried off the rainclouds with it.

"See those?" she asked Leini, hoping the wild dog was still behind her, "Those 'fireflies' are worth it. Worth everything, to me. That's what I wanted you to see. The fireflies. Stars."

"Alright," Leini said. Sure, it was a near death experiance with the white wolf, but she said it was okay, so it'll be okay! ... Right?

Leini's heart was still pounding from the possiblity that Tsuki almost fell over the side of the cliff.

None the less, Leini followed Tsuki, trusting the maned wolf, though her heart was still racing wildly.

Leini looked up as she came up beside her friend. "Oh, Wow..." she gasped lightly, staring up at the little 'fireflies in the sky'. "They're beautiful!"

"Aren't they?" Tsuki flashed Leini a great smile, eyes bright with gratitude, "Thankyou for coming with me, Leini."

She blinked, almost choking on her words.

"I did it! No, we did it!"

They'd climbed the Great Hill, and seen the fireflies. Awesome.

"Well," she said after a long time, eyes gleaming, "That's the end of the show. It will be sunrise soon, and that big blazing ball will be coming up over the hills over there."

She paused.

"When you came with me tonight, you pretty much saved my life! So... I really do hope showing the fireflies would be an alright payment for that. They really are wonderful. So thankyou."

She looked to the skies. The sun was about to rise. Sure, that was a beautiful sight, too, but her mother and brother would be worrying about her.

"Well, the cliff should have dried off by now," she smiled, "So there's not as much danger of losing your footing any longer. I really need to go... my family would be worrying by now. But, I'll see you sometime in the future, Leini!"

She'd caught hold of Leini's scent. There's no way she'd forget it after that.

"Well, see you later, wild dog!"

Leini nodded. "You're welcome," she said.

"Yes, we did!" Leini said proudly.

"Saving your life was no problem. Thank you for showing me the stars," She said with a smile.

She took a step bac from where she was. "Just make sure next time you come up here with someone..."

Leini gave a light nod. The cliffs did seem almost dry. Leini turned to head off the cliff. "I'll see you," Leini said and walked down the cliff, though she was still careful of where to go.
