Nopenname Then again, like others if you AREN'T drinking enough to begin with then you're more in danger of dehydration, Quote: See that's the thing, I was drinking the recommended amount of water, plus a cup or two more every day. For some reason my body was losing water quicker than I was taking it in, and aside from going to the restroom, the doctors could not figure out where and how I was losing the water.

That's what it's called! Normally I would say stick with the 64 ounces, but if the doctor does recommend it, well of course. Some people just need that extra water.
Sprite, I drank that a LOT when I was preggo cause it helped my tummy as well and happened to be caffine free.
Cocoa butter can't hurt, but I will say, from my expereince, don't expect miracles. It does help, but if your body is the type to get the stretch marks, it will still get them. My poor butt is proof. xd
When do you go in for an ultrasound?

Gindion: I am keeping nicely hydrated drinking lots but not too much. I am finding water so dull so I have made my own fruit juice drinks for work ... I look really silly walking around the office with my 'canteen of juice' but hey better safe then sorry right ... am finding the need to pee every two minuites rather anoying though smile I also tryed a little sip of Sprite today it did nothing for me however the ginger ale I had tonight that I usually hate tasted wonderful and made me feel so much better.
KasumiAngel: What are these men like ?!?! I have been being nice to Martin all day today I hope that If I am sweet he will agree to listen to the whole back/foot rub idea which to me sounds like bliss smile I am going to have to look into arnica oil, I have awful stretch marks on my bum from when I put on a whole ounce durring puberty so I am living in great fear of my soon to be pregnancy SM !!
Seak: Thanks for the info hon ... I will be shouting from the roof tops shortly I just need to get some hospital things out of the way first then I am straight round to mum and dad's to tell them the news. As I told Gindion ^see above^ I have been drinking lots it seems like dehydration is a big problem for most women. With regards to rest I am sleeping LOTS, I find it helps with my quessyness. Excersise ... I completed my first '30 min escape from the office stroll' today it was lovely in this bright October sunshine. I am realising more and more that this is the first of a lot of things I can't wait for all the firsts come smile I checked out babycenter.com it's really good and that artical is really helpful thanks sugar smile Finally coco butter based lotion ... weirdly enough I have used this on my puberty stretch marks for years it's lovely stuff smile
Miss Ayako: Thanks for the congratulations sugar, It's so nice to have all this help and advice at hand whee
lunashock: I have followed your advice and am now going to try drinking 64 ounces a day - it seemed like alot to me this morning when I worked out how many 'canteen bottles' it would be smile I will be going for my scan at around week 20 although I can't wait I would be down there tomorrow if I thought they would be able to get an image on the scan smile
Stormy_Nightsky: Thanks for the congrats. I just had a look for belts on the net boy they look great smile
mermaid mommy: Thankyou for the congratulations smile Your husband sounds so sweet. Thankfully Martin hasn't seen me throw up yet but I know he will I had to long jump out of bed this morning to the bathroom. I think that's the real test of love ... not flowers, chocs or poems but an ability to love you post vomit. Thanks for the hugs and tummy rubs, I will be sure to keep everyone updated.
Mairead: Thanks for the congrats, I don't care if it's a boy or a girl, so long as it is healthy and happy.
Nopenname: Thanks for the info on Hyponatrima I never realised you could get sick from to much water eek

Ginger Ale made you feel better because of the Ginger. A friend of mine recommended Ginger when I was sick and it almost automatically made me feel better. Ginger Tea, Ginger Snaps/cookies, AND they have special Ginger drops for pregnant women too that you can find in health food places. (Or sometimes in the cough drop aisle if your grocery store decides to carry them).
Also the smell and taste of lemon made me feel better but I think that was just me, I could NOT eat or smell ham cooking the whole time I was pregnant without gagging. I was home for Christmas and mom was cooking ham and I was just dying, I was sitting near the open door freezing everyone out because just smelling it made me so woozie.

Nopenname: Don't get me started on smells ?!?! My nose has exploded, I can't be near anything meaty when it's cooking, or fish for that matter, or strong cheese ... hell there's a whole list I have built up funny thing is though I can eat it all fine it's just the smell. I have however started liking foods that I didn't before ... like the ginger ale. Strange how these things affect us isn't it? A friend at work had her girl 3 years ago and before the birth she was munching on all kinds of things she wouldn't dare look at now smile

When I was pregnant it was all about COMBINATIONS of flavors. Like there is a sandwich at TGIFridays that is FREAKING amazing It's a Chicken BLT on Foccacia bread it is amazing. That and it took all of my willpower to drive by a DQ without buying a banna split blizzard. Yeah not buying one RARELY happened.
I was totally that woman on the Taco Bell commercial who wanted something, chewy, crunchy, and cheesy all at the same time.

First of all Congratulations! I am so excited for you! I know how you feel about not being able to tell anyone! I couldn't tell anyone for a long time t heart that I was pregnant. I hated it... But in the end... I was glad I did... It was exciting to get everything taken care of, and then telling everyone. It was even more exciting because I waited to tell. Watch out for them greasy foods... Just the smell of them made me nauseaus...

I started liking things I had never liked as well. Especially onion rings. I had never liked them before. But then one day, around the three month mark, I was suddenly like, "RAR!! Give me onion rings now!!! *breaths fire and grows demon horns*" My fiance, however, was like, "AGH!! Hungry pregnant lady with crazings!! Must find onion rings!"

This is going to be an obvious one. Don't mop. At all. It's not a good thing to do. My work tried to get me to do it and I thought I my son was going to fall out and onto the floor. When they give you a weight limit they mean it. It's for your own good. Trust me on this one I didn't listen a couple of times and I regretted it.
Be careful what you eat. No fish! Eat a lot of vegetables. I know I lived on vegetables and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches when I was pregnant. They were some of the few things I could keep down.
I too had to drink an extra ammount of water because of how fast I would go to the bathroom. I'm not sure why, but it does happen to some women. I hate drinking water. So, trust me I wasn't too happy about that.
Otherwise enjoy being pregnant. I look back now and wish I had taken the time to enjoy the fact that I had a little life growing inside me. I'm sure you'll do fine.

You just can't eat a lot of fish. you can eat about two cans of Tuna a week no problem. And some fish like Salmon have little to no problems with mercury levels. HOWEVER BIG fish like shark and Mahi Mahi you in fact SHOULD avoid entirely because the bigger they are the more mercury they have.
