The sudden darkness had terrified Mischa, to say the least. By time it was over she was clinging to Noharu's shoulder, shaking like a soaking wet cat walking out in the snow. When the girl came into her sights, she squealed in delight. "NYAAA!"
Noharu's reaction was much different, though. For quite some time, she did nothing but stare at the small girl, who stared right back. After the...very awkward pause, she knelt down, extending a hand and poking her in the forehead. "It's...Dracula."
The response she got was a single blink and a tilt of the bat girls head, her guardian seemed surprised she didn't say anything.
"Mute Dracula," Noharu corrected, eyeing the child dully. "For a bat...she's not very terrifying wearing THAT."
"Nyaaa!" Mischa hissed at her, sticking her tounge out before fluttering to hover infront of the girl, clapping her hands together approvingly.
Karoko stared blankly at her, then suddenly her hands shot out to wrap around the small blonde demon. She giggled loudly, grinning widely. "MINE!"
For whatever reason, this amused Noharu, who too grinned, and even laughed a little. "Well, well, maybe you're not so bad after all..."

[I Take It Back] "Well, well, maybe you're not so bad after all..."
Only a short while later, Noharu took it back. This. Kid. Was. ANNOYING.
Overly hyper? Sure, she could handle it.
Mean? Hell yeah, she was more than prepared (and experienced, you could say).
But this...THIS was just disgusting, for lack of a better word. She'd braced herself for everything, and all for nothing. Taking care of this kid was as easy as turning the TV on...or reading the newspaper, which she was TRYING to do.
"Mischa, leave me alone," she hissed, swating the demon away again. Chances are she would've stomped on her if she hadn't been so surprised. For as long as she'd known her, Mischa had never, EVER disobeyed any command she spat at her, much less try and boss HER around.
"Nyaaa!" The creature shot back, crossing her arms stubbornly as she hovered in place, refusing to move more than an inch at a time.
"Fine! You know what? FINE!" Enough was enough. All she wanted to do was read the damn paper! Was that a crime? Lifting her eyes above the black print, she glared at the other demandingly. "WHAT?"
"Nyaaa."
"Crying?"
"Yaa ya!"
"For what?"
"Nyaaa..."
"And why should I be the one to find out? You like her, you do it."
"NYAAA YAAA!"
"Fine! When I shut her up, you better leave me alone or I'll throw you in a blender, you understand me?"
Mischa was well aware she meant it, and didn't hesitate to nod, floating aside and watching her get up.
Into Karoko's room she went, opening the door and flicking the switch. The sudden burst of light caused a squeak from under the bed. Honestly, Noharu expected her to be hanging from the bar in her closet or something, but oh well...
Grumbling various complaints, most of which contained words someone Karoko's age probably shouldn't hear, she eventually came to stand beside the bed, hair falling over her shoulders as she peered under the bed.
As she'd expected, the tiny girl was huddled in a small mass in the corner, backed against the wall. Her back was to Noharu, but Mischa said she was crying, so...
"Alright, Dracula, what's the matter?"
No answer.
"Did you hear me, you brat? I asked you what was wrong."
Still, nothing.
"Fine, whatever, I tried." Mischa would be happy with that, or else she'd carry on with that threat she'd made. Maybe she'd just stomp on her th--
What the hell?!
When her mind registered what happened, her eyes fell to the Eden...now clinging to her leg in a way that suggested it was her only lifeline. "What the hell? Let go."
But she didn't. Didn't do anything. Didn't move, didn't look up, and certainly didn't 'let go'. If anything, her grip tightened, as did her closed eyes.
"Alright, look," Noharu began, looking ready to rip her hair out. "You can come in the front room with me if you'll STAY QUIET. Otherwise, I'll just lock you in here and be done with it, understood?"
She did understand, or it seemed like it from the nod she offered. A few seconds later she'd gone from clinging to Noharu's leg to holding her hand as she was nearly drug down the hall behind her.
The guardian rolled her eyes. "I hate kids..."

[Silence Has A Color] To an outside observer, the sight may have seemed rather amusing. Standing in the shoes of any of the three gathered around the table (despite the fact none of them literally wore any), it didn't seem so funny. Mischa was worried, Lockee annoyed, and Noharu had ranted for about an hour about how she was "pissed off".
The trio was gathered in the kitchen, huddled around the table. On such a table, the familiar, wide-eyed bat girl Karoko. Perhaps it wasn't the proper place to set a child, but Noharu didn't care, and had pointed out they weren't "being checked by the health inspector, damn it".
"What do we feed it?" Lockee questioned in disgust, her nose wrinkling back to emphasize her feelings on this entire thing.
"Nyaa!" Mischa spat from Noharu's shoulder, glaring at her. Normally, Lockee hissing would've scared her enough to flee from the room, but she wasn't too worried with Noharu in a bad mood. While she couldn't really consider Noharu on her side, she at least knew she was prefered over Lockee. If one of them was going to go, it wouldn't be her, thankyou!
"We know she's a girl, Mischa, thank you for pointing that out AGAIN."
"Both of you, SHUT UP." That was all it took from Noharu to quiet them both down. The sudden yell made the Eden jump, but she either didn't notice or didn't care. "Anyway, we need to feed it--her," she corrected before Mischa started her complaining again. "Dracula likes blood, right?"
"It seems like much too big a wuss to eat anything like that!" Lockee reminded her, still making various displeased expressions at the poor girl.
Noharu edged sideward slightly, stomping on the felines foot. "I SHOULD make YOU figure this out!" Lockee hissed at her, and she hissed right back. As expected, the brunette was the first to back down, and Noharu didn't even feel the need to smirk over the victory. "Anyway, take Mischa and go somewhere. Somewhere not here. You're both annoying me, so bug off."
Lockee stuck her tounge out, luckily withdrawing it before Noharu turned back to her. "O-okay!" She responded quickly, literally snatching Mischa from the air and rushing from the room.
Blue eyes narrowed on the door way moments after they were gone. Finally, Noharu shook her head as if to disagree with one of her on thoughts. Her elbow rested on the counter, her head now leaning sideways, supported by the palm of her hand. "You're really a strange kid..."
It almost seemed like she was talking to herself, and she probably was, partly. "I'm not sure why I agreed to this. Mischa's whining, I guess, but I could stomp her to death if I really felt like it..." The words came to a stop, replaced by the noise of shuffling through various things in the fridge. "Hm...you're a fruit bat, aren't you, Dracula?" Despite that, she didn't drop the nickname.
Karoko made no response, just watched her, curious but not appearing so.
"Let's see...These might work." Moving away from the fridge, she pushed the door close and span around to reveal an interesting carton in her hands. The word "Blueberries" was written in (what else?) blue across the top. "You'll like these, I think."
Setting them down, she snapped the lid open and pulled a few out, shifting all but one to her other hand. Standing infront of Karoko again, she held the lone berry out to her. "Here, try this."
Never one to disobey her guardian, the toddler nodded her head and took the food source from her, popping it into her mouth. A few seconds later, she smiled brightly and squealed with delight.
"Good, good." Well, that was easier than she thought it would be. Ha! She could do this. Parenting was cake. Smirking, she reached over for the plastic carton and shoved it in the bat girls hands. "Knock yourself out, Dracula."
As she ate contently, there wasn't so much as a whimper or a whine. Noharu learned that day, for Karoko, silence had a color.

Noharu Well, this is most certainly interesting different. A short while ago it was just me and my useless little slave of a demon, and now I've got some loud-mouthed cat woman and some wanna-be Dracula afraid of her own shadow running around MY house.
MY house.
How could I let this happen? I'm turning into my sister. Speaking of which, I heard that little brat she lives with is older now. Gods, I hate her, stuck-up little b***h. I have the misfortune of being forced to visit there soon.
I don't really WANT to take Dracula with me, but I figure she'll be clinging to my leg and won't leave me much of an option.
When I got the letter to plant her or whatever whoever had left it mentioned a place where they come from or something. I believe the term was "Eden" or something along those lines.
Anyway, I took her to that place. This lady named Green (I remember her name because it's so weird) scared the s**t out of her, then gave her candy. I found that odd, but apparently it's normal around here.
There was some other "Eden" there too. This little white-haired one. Dracula went off with her for a while and left me to talk to this guy. I can't remember his name, but he actually wasn't that bad.
As much as I'd like to b***h and gripe about how annoying I find all this "parenting", I've gotta go see the annoyance that is Noyama.

Noharu Yeah, so the visit with my 'sister' was...interesting. I won't get any more into that, though. There's no point in writing it down since I know it's something I'll never forget.
On to Dracula, she hid the entire time we were there. Also, I took her out to that ice cream place with...I don't remember her name, but I think her kid was called 'Teagan' or something like that?
Dracula, of course, was terrified of him. The cars and such, too. She really is a coward. Eventually, she at least came out of her shell a little from what I can tell. I wish she'd make a friend. Like, a good one. One she likes enough to go off with and leave me the hell alone for a while.
Maybe I'll drag her back to that one place again and see if that white-haired girl or that 'Teagan' kid or whatever is there soon.

Noharu Jeesh, this journal has been collecting dust, hasn't it? I haven't had much time to write, pretty damn busy with other s**t. I'm suppose to write about Dracula's progress in this one, so I won't get started on that. Let's see.
Dracula, Dracula...
She's been a bit better as far as being, er, social. I took her to the amusement park. She freaked out until two of her little Eden friends showed up. I didn't catch either of their names, but I'd just have forgotten them anyway. She actually stopped clinging to me and went off to play with them.
As I mentioned early, I've been pretty booked as far as time goes. I put Dracula in a daycare the other day since I had some things to do that I didn't exactly want to drag her along for. The people called and told me she was crying and screaming. Psh.
When I finally got there to get her, she didn't seem to want to leave, which surprised me, but I don't see as a bad thing. There was another kid there she was playing with when I arrived. I'm assuming he was one of these 'Eden' things, too, but who can tell in a place like this?
I guess I need to spend some 'mother-daughter' time with Dracula, even if I'm not really her mother and she does annoy the hell out of me.

Noyama The room was simple, which meant the ones past the two doors to their left probably weren't. The floor and walls were stone, and obviously old with no funiture to speak of. "Now, you two play nice!" She chirped, motioning toward someone sitting along the wall. "She'll be your room-mate for the last few hours of your life!"
From across the room came a hiss, and the earlier mentioned figure stood, glaring. "You're KIDDING me?" Noharu snapped. Moofuls And there went whatever lasting bit of happiness there might have been. Scowling, Lyrus stepped away from imposter-Mignon and walked over to the wall opposite Noharu, sinking down to sit on the floor and shooting her a glare. Dammit, and he didn't even have his knife. "Don't think I'm happy with the situation." Noyama One might've expected a threat. Infact, no one would put it past her to lash out without so much as that. The fact she did neither was a bit surprising, and what followed even more so. "Just watch your mouth, brat, I don't want her picking up any of the bad words I'm sure that little chicken brat has taught you." Substituing 'b***h' for 'brat? What was the occassion?
Nothing more than a girl, and a nervous one at that. She was younger than Lyrus, four at the most. Her bat wings and ears twitched nervously as she clutched her white dress. My, my, someone was nervous. Oddly enough, Noharu didn't seem the cause of it.
After a moment longer of leering unblinkingly at the Sin'aeis, the teenager sat back down, reaching over and patting the bat girl on the head. "It's alright. You'll be okay." Moofuls Lyrus quirked a brow, but said nothing, and, after a minute of watching the bat girl, simply nodded and relaxed back against the wall. So, Noharu actually cared about something? Well, this day was just full or surprises. Nonetheless, Lyrus wasn't in the mood for a fight and, if those two had been here for as long as he imagined, he pitied the bat girl. Not Noharu, of course. Noyama From across the room came a heavy sigh. Soon there were footsteps, those of Noharu. She walked over to Lyrus, kneeling down infront of him. "Look, you annoying little thing, I'll get you and what's-her-name out of here if you do something for me."
Pointing toward the bat-winged girl with her thumb she continued, "Take her with you, and once you're out, considering you all live through this, you take her to Noyama. Give me your word you'll do that, and I'll deal with any guards and what not. If you hurry you can still save your stupid little friends..." Moofuls Lyrus' eyes snapped up as the woman approached, watching her warily from where he sat. His expression softened somewhat with her 'request', more surprised than anything, but after a moment he nodded, letting his hand fall and pulling his eyes away to eye the cut on his thumb. Nothing serious. "If we get out of here, I'll take her. I swear," he added, almost as an afterthought. But Lyrus kept his word. It was one of the few things one could really hold him to. -------------------------------------------------------- Diary Entry: Karoko Karoko momy gone away she stayed in the big cave and not come out wen we did she told me 2 go with a boy with a horn and bloo hare like momys is he tok me 2 a house with the ladee that looks like momy does i get 2 stay with her now untill momy comes home and comes 2 get me i hope its soon bcause i miss momy a hole lot Translation Mommy went away. Cousins: Karoko to Akilah Karoko stared across the table at the copper-haired girl nervously. She seemed so violent. It was scarey! Everyone else had gone, even that lady who looked like Mommy did. She thought she'd like it, considering it would be more quiet, but she found the silence between her and this other girl nothing less than terrifying. Mommy's twin, Noyama, at least provided some comfort when she was here.
She still couldn't tell time, but knew it was a while before either of them bothered to speak. "So, your names Karoko, right?" Kilah asked boredly. "Do you know my name?"
"Yes," she answered carefully, wincing. It was the first thing she'd said since the others had left. "Karrroko my name. Yourrrr name Akilah." The other seemed pleased.
"Why do you talk like that?"
"I don't know," she answered honestly. "Just do." That's what Mommy had told her.
"Oh." And there was another five minutes of silence. "Do you like...want candy or something?"
"Mommy doesn't let me have candy," she said simply, folding her hands in her lap. Kilah 'hm'ed. She seemed to act oddly whenever the Eden said 'Mommy'.
"Noyama doesn't let us have any either." Karoko noticed Kilah didn't seem happy about that. Mommy and the Noyama lady were a lot alike. "So, uh, I guess you'll be staying here for a while. Unfortunately, we're cousins, so I guess we should know a little bit about each other. What do you like?"
One thing came to mind immediatly. "Blueberrries," she replied. Other than Mommy, blueberries were her favorite thing in the world. "What does Kilah like?"
"Daggers."
"Oh... Mommy likes those, too."
Silence.
This was going to be a long night...

The Zoo Karoko-Eva PD Freize After seeing the boy's reaction to the turtle that Eva's older friend had wanted to take home from the aquarium, Freize decided he really needed to take the little 'roo out to see some of the animals up close. The only animals he ever saw were the ones running around their household, and most of them were all but normal. It made it difficult to explain NORMAL animals... And books were okay, but Freize preffered giving him a visual.
So here the two were, at the zoo.
The two had just come in minutes before, and Eva was perched up on his Da's shoulder, licking happily at a cherry flavored ice cream treat he had been given. Thank Ajani for finding this one out. Freize had already completely devoured his own cone, so now the two were just heading for the directory... Which exhibit to go to first? Eva began to bounce slightly from a mix of sugar and excitement. Noyama "Karoko, happy time is now!" Noyama insisted, but her response was the same as before. Absolutely nothing. The Eden simply remained like a statue on the bench--unmoving, her eyes downcast. As she always did, she looked guilty. However, this time she felt it, too. Was she the reason Mommy hadn't come back yet?
"We're going over here!" One of Noyama's 'daughters' called from the distance, and before she could even answer they were out of hearing range. The fox demon sighed, her eyes focusing on the small toddler. If there was only something that would cheer her up! Little did she know that something would come in the form of a someone.
It was merely chance Karoko happened to glance up at that second, just in time to spot a certain guardian with a certain boy who she certainly recognized! She didn't know why, but seeing him here surprised her. "Eva?" Luckily, the area wasn't very crowded for the moment, so her tiny voice that would've normally been drowned out could still be heard. Freize What was that? The little squirt perked up, glancing about curiously at the sound of his name... Did he just hear something? His eyes finally came to fall on Karoko, and a smile instantly broke out on his face. The boy lifted his free hand, waving eagerly at the girl before trying to dismount his Da so as to go say hello to his friend.
Freize froze as he felt the boy trying to climb down single-handed, "Hey, what're you doing Eva?" The little guy didn't respond, he just hopped down the rest of the way, landing on his feet. He hurried to the bat-girl merrily, beaming all the way. Maybe they could have some fun at this zoo place thingy! Especially now that he had a friend. His ice cream was now forgotten.
He stopped infront of her, huffing a bit before waving again. His Da came along behind him at a slow pace- as long as the boy was in sight then he wasn't worried. Noyama "Didn't know you were here," Karoko said, blinking. Her silence in her earlier-er-months had made it come as quite a shock when she finally did speak and revealed herself quite an impressive talker when it came to things like sentence structure. Lockee had always yelled at her for speaking wrong, which probably contributed partialy. The other half was constantly thinking if she spoke correctly Noharu would come back sooner, and when she did, she'd be proud for once.
This was the first time in a long time she wasn't thinking of her guardian. Her interest was in her friend now, who apparently still wasn't talking. She wondered if he couldn't or didn't want to. Honestly, it didn't matter to her aside from sheer curiousity. Quiet people were better, anyway. "Not talking?" Freize The boy just smiled and offered a look that seemed to say "same here". While she grew better at talking, he had grown better at getting across messages through body language and expressions. He still wasn't talking, though... His tail began to sway behind him idly, the excitement and sugar mixing together inside of him. And now his friend, which meant promise of fun! Perfect. He kept calm though; he remembered how she had been scared of him at first. He didn't want to scare her.
He frowned a bit as she mentioned him not talking, ears drooping down now. He pressed his lips into a thin line and looked at her with a sort of embarassed expression, which meant to get across that he didn't know how. He still made no noise, and he still didn't talk... Although Eva really and truly wanted to learn. Noyama She'd expected as much. However, she didn't seem bothered by it. In fact, the girl shrugged then nodded, which could have easily come off as confusing had she not spoken as well. "It's okay," she assured him, her expression nervous as always but her tone convincing enough. "This is your Daddy?" Even asking she didn't so much as glance at Freize. He was a stranger--strangers were scarey. "Can he say your name?" Fuzzy Face just didn't seem right anymore.
"Noyama," Karoko said, motioning to the teenager by her. Said teenager had been temporarily stunned into silence. She'd had Karoko for quite a while, and she hadn't said so much in all that time put together! When she finally got over the shock, she nodded politely and smiled. "She's my aunt," Karoko explained. Freize The 'roo cheered as soon as he found she was alright with it, seeming a bit curious as to her nervousness, just not quite used to such skiddish people as of yet... But he didn't let it bother him- she sounded fine enough, and was talking to him, so everything must be okay! He nodded at the mention of his Da, head turning so that he could get a glance of the older male, waving him down. The weremutt picked up his pace.
Without a second thought the boy was sitting on his knees on the ground, flashing one of his little grins up at Noyama- his greeting. Strangers were funny, but not scary to him. He liked people, after all! Freize kneeled beside his joey, "Hey Eva, what's..." He looked towards the girl curiously- oh, an Eden.. "Oh, hello... A friend of Eva's?" He gave a soft smile. The little guy nodded merrily. Noyama "Eva," The Eden repeated carefully, as if she might mess up in saying the name and forever ruin it. Such a paranoid girl. Noyama was just glad she was talking, though, and stood in silence, observing but saying nothing. "That's a good name." You might have thought her one to lie, being so nervous and all, but Karoko said only what she meant and meant what she said.
"Eva is my frrriend," Karoko confirmed without hesitation, looking almost directly at Freize. For some reason she seemed determine to leave no doubt the two were on good terms with each other. Not surprisingly, her attention didn't stay on the guardian long. "Zoo is a good place," she said to Eva, glancing around. "There are bats here."
She didn't know what animal he was, but she wondered if they were here as well... Freize Eva seemed actually fairly pleased after she said his name, tail swishing back and forth along the ground behind him.. He noticed how he couldn't lift his up like Teagan's, and thought that was wierd, especially because their tails were so alike.. Oh well, back to Karoko. The boy nodded along once again as she said he was her friend, just happy to have a friend along with him at the zoo.
His ears perked slightly, brows raising. Bats..? Oh, weren't those the things Da had showed him in that mammal book? The ones with wings like Karoko? Since he was a kangaroo, Karoko must be a bat! He handed over his ice cream to Freize, focusing entirely on the other Eden for now, and once again he was nodding. The zoo was a good place. They should go look at the animals together! The little squirt offered his hand and took on a look that seemed to say "show me?" He wanted to see the bats! It seemed like she had already seen them.. Of course, she didn't have to take his hand. He wouldn't be hurt- it was more just habit by now. When going somewhere with a friend you should hold their hand or something. Noyama She was curious to know what animal he was. The easy solution would've been to ask his guardian, but what fun was that? Friends should learn things about their friends from their friends! Even if said friends couldn't speak yet...
"I'll show you," she offered, brushing off her dress before she reached out to take his hand. White was an annoying color to wear--it always got dirt and stuff on it! Remembering well where the bats had been, she dodged the people in the small crowd to reach their destination. She was sure both guardians would follow them closely.
The bats were located in a big, interesting building. Karoko forget what the real name was. It was dark inside, because all the animals liked to be awake at night--including bats. "See?" The tiny toddler questioned, stopping infront of a large exhibit and pointing up at the bats hanging upside down inside. "Bats." Freize The boy trudged along behind her, excited at the idea of seeing the animal that Karoko might be... Up close, anyways. Da said that sometimes they flew up and over their house at night during the summer or something, but he never could see any.. He would have to try again from a higher place.
The boy blinked as they entered the dark building- what kinda building was DARK on the inside? He decided it was neat, and smiled to himself as he continued following his friend.. He looked over the exhibit before up towhere she pointed- he and his Da had just arrived, so he hadn't gotten to see an animal exhibit as of yet. This was his first, and his first time at the zoo. Then he looked up, and oogled at the bats.. Woow... He tugged the girl's hand gently and then pointed up curiously to make sure that was what she was, his expression curious.
After any sort of answer he would smile brightly and then look back, not surprised to see Freize standing there, curious expression back. Were his animals here? "I dunno, Eva... Kangaroos are only at certain zoos.. I could check." He checked a map and the little 'roo brightened before looking back up at the bats. Noyama "Yes, bat," Karoko answered, pointing at them. "Like me." So Eva was a kanga...kanga...kanga-something. When she was older she was sure she'd be able to say the word correctly out loud as well as in her mind. Only certain zoos had them? There were bats all over! "Eva must be special," she commented cheerfully. "Not many of Eva."
And, really, bats were kind of scary. Always hiding in dark places and stuff--who would want to do that?! Freize Bat. Batbatbat. Eva had to remember that always and forever, or else one day he might forget and then Karoko might get upset because he did. He didn't want anyone upset with him.. The boy smiled at the girl's conclusion to the lack of kangaroos, almost a bit sheepish, ears coming to a full perk. Really? Was he special...? But Karoko was like the neat bats! She was special too, 'cause he hadn't seen anyone like her before. He would have said so if he could.
"Tree kangaroos live only in a certain place in the wild, so it's harder to get them..." Freize smiled slightly, "I think he's special, anyways." His finger moved over the map thoughtfully, searching the types of animals... "Look at that... They've got a tree kangaroo. Not the right type, but a tree kangaroo." He looked at the kids over the map. Noyama Tree, hm? Different from Eva, but almost the same. "Vampirrre bat," she explained, pointing at the cage behind them. The small containers of blood provided for them at the bottom only supported that theory. "Liv..ingstone," she continued, pointing to herself. She'd seen bats before, but the kind she supposedly was. Because they were 'endangered' and hard to catch.
"We should go see them." As if seeking approval, she eyed Noyama who nodded thoughtlessly, occupied glancing over one of the other nocturnal animals. This would be fun! Even if the kangaroo wasn't exactly like Eva. Freize The boy nodded slightly, listening carefully. So carefully it made Freize wish that Eva listened to him. The 'roo then smiled and nodded once more- Livingstonelivingstonelivingstone... Li-vi-ng-st-on-e. He had to remember. He looked to the vampire bats again, watching them curiously for a moment or so.
"Eva's a Goodfellow's." The guardian piped up before tucking away the map and giving a wary look to any people around them. "Alright... Let's go." He then turned and headed off and out of the building towards where the tree kangaroos were supposed to be.. He wondered why there were Matschie's tree kangaroos but not Goodfellow's... Strange, but he let it go.
The boy smiled cheerily to the girl and then began trotting after his caretaker, still holding onto her hand. This would be fun! He had never seen one'a what he was before! Noyama It was times like these Karoko remembered how slow she was. Especially taking into account she was such a coward, if she ever had to run for her life, she'd be in trouble. Maybe when she was older she would fly fast to make up for it, or so her cousin had suggested.
When they reached the proper place, Karoko at first looked surprised. Her eyes moved to the animal, to Eva, to the animal, to Eva again. They didn't look so much alike to her. But then, she didn't look much like a bat either aside from the ears and wings... Freize The runt was probably a hard specimen to keep up with- he's pretty quick on his feet, after all. He never let himself get too far ahead though, and would often stop or slow down so that she could catch up, smiling some. He was excited to see some tree 'roos, even though they weren't the same as him. They were supposed to be pretty close.
Eva stared up into the exhibit, ears fully perked. Wow... So that's what he was... He decided the coloring couldn't be right, 'cause he didn't have no colors that looked like that. They were much more brighter than his ears and his tail was kinda stripey. He then looked towards the girl cheerily, kind of proud for some reason to be showing her what he was. Noyama "Not as cute as Eva," Karoko determined with a nod. They were cute, though. But Eva had prettier colors than they did. She could tell they weren't the exact kind of kangaroo he was, but that was alright. They hadn't had the exact kind of bat she was either. Maybe some zoo somewhere had both?
She frowned thoughtfully when Noyama announced it was time to go and grabbed her hand. Karoko had never be one to argue, or even protest, but she still looked highly dissapointed. "Okay," she agreed flatly, waving with one hand to her friend. "I'll see you laterrrr, Eva." Freize The boy just grinned at that, ears wriggling about.. He was actually thinking something along the lines of how he hoped somewhere there was a zoo with both of their animals in it so that they could look at 'em at the same time... He was torn from his thoughts as Noyama spoke up, and he looked towards the two curiously before frowning.
The little guy drooped a bit, depressed by the idea of his friend leaving, but he managed a small smile and a wave. And then a nod. He hoped he got to see his friend again.. He climbed back up into Freize's arms.

Noharu's Welcomed Return: Can't Live Without Her "...WHAT?!"
The day started out fine. The trip to the zoo was just what Karoko needed to lift her spirits a little. Honestly, Noyama doubted it would've been near as successful if not for the fact they'd stumbled upon one of her friends. Then, they'd come home--well, temporary home for Karoko--and everything had changed.
Now, Noyama was a pretty mild person, so getting her worked up like this took a lot. What qualified as a lot? Burning the house down, it seemed.
"I didn't mess the spell up!" Kilah hissed, clutching her fists.
"Burn the house down, Kilah?!" Noyama wailed, hiding her face in her hands. Her daughter had done some bad things, but... but THIS?!
"I'm telling you I didn't do it!"
"Kilah, what the ******** happened?" Lucky cut in harshly. Unlike Noyama (and pretty much anyone else), Lucky wasn't one Kilah was so quick to snap at.
"Lucky," she began seriously, grinding her teeth together. "I. Didn't. Mess. Up. The. Spell. I had all the ingridents right! I marked the bottles, you know that! I'm positive I used everything I should've!"
The redhead leered at her sharply, searching for any signs she may be lying. It was hard when one lacked eyes. "Whatever," she grumbled, rubbing her forehead. "It doesn't matter. Our problem now is what to do. We can't just go crash somewhere, there's too many of us and-"
"Wow." For one, no one in the family interupted Lucky. It wasn't that that stunned everyone into a motionless silence, but the identity of the speaker...
Yes, indeed, all pairs of eyes were now upon Noharu herself. She blinked at all those suddenly starring, hand on her hip. "What the ******** are you all staring at me for?" After another round of silence, one dared to speak. ...Uh, screech.
"MOMMY!" Karoko dashed forward with speed that could rival a cheetah. Somehow, Noharu was just as fast, hurriedly kneeling down and stretching her arms out. The toddler jumped forward when she was a few paces from the teenager, and was caught and lifted with ease.
"Hey, Dracula," Noharu said softly, shifting her to one arm and getting back to her feet. That kind tone didn't last very long, and her relaxed expression didn't either. "He actually brought her back? I'm impressed. I wouldn't be surprised if the little b*****d had left her."
"b***h!" Kilah snapped, and all the attention that had been on Noharu was now on her. "Lyrus didn't have to bring her, you know! And you call him a b*****d?! What gives you the right?!" Noharu laughed at this, which succeeded in making the Sin'aeis more angry.
"Relax, birdy." With her free hand, she pat the bat girl on the head and turned to go. "We're out of here." Needless to say, she was a bit surprised at what followed.
"No."
For the second time, the group--including Noharu--went quiet. Finally, the meaner of the twins spoke, and even then merely echoed the word. "...No?"
"No," Karoko repeated, staring up at her with a determined look. There was a fierce spark in her eyes her 'mommy' had never seen before. Not to mention the fact she'd never told anyone no, much less HER.
"Karoko, what do you mean no?" Noharu asked hesitantly. She wasn't completely sure she really wanted to know...
"They'rrre house is gone," the toddler pointed out, frowning. "They took carrrre of me while you werrre away. We should take carrrre of them now."
Lucky was glaring daggers at her, and she had been able to no doubt Kilah would've been as well. Sango, Twila, and all the others didn't look as intense--but didn't look happy. Then there was Noyama, who just blankly watched her sibling. Noharu's working eye moved past the rest. She, too, saw only her sibling. It was as if they were having a conversation without actually having ones. Neither expressions changed, and neither dared to blink away the eye contact.
Noharu growled. "...Fine."
Noyama grinned. "Okay."
"What?!" Kilah threw her arms up in the air. "You can't be serious! She tried to DROWN me. Are we all forgetting she tried to drown me?!"
"Kilah," Lucky hissed. "You're the one who burned the house down. Shut the ******** up." Not that she was keen on the idea of living with Noharu either, but they didn't have an option right now...
"It's this way. Hurry up."
The entire family exchanged glances, the majority looking either angry or just plain upset. Noyama was the first to move, hurrying at first and slowing only once she was stepping in stride with her twin. Sango sighed, then grabbed Kilah's hand and pulled her after. Soon came Kotoki, Lucky, Gizmo, Tamoya and all the others.

Noharu Wow, this journal has dust all over it. That stupid little b***h Mischa can keep the entire house clean, but can't dust this damn room once in a while. She's useless, I don't know why I keep her around.
I got back home recently. Had a lot of s**t to do. I was a bit surprised that that little Lyrus brat had actually taken Karoko to Noyama like he said he would. Speaking of, her and her stupid family are living here now.
My idea? Hell no. Karoko's. She was all determined about it. I figured it'd be alright for a little while. I don't like oweing people favors anyway. Karoko mommy let yama stay! The big meen chickin gurl burned down the house i was living at while mommy was a way so they didnt have any place to go so i told mommy to let them stay here and she said yes! i missed mommy I'm glad shes back!

The Bat and the Butterfly: Karoko's Got a Sister! "I'm telling you, she came out of the damn book!" Noharu hissed. Lockee didn't seem phased as she leaned back in her chair. She was too busy examining her new, expensive-looking ring to so much as glance at the other.
"I believe you," she said in a tone that made it clear she 'believed' only so the subject would drop. "Did you get the paper?"
"Are you LISTENING?! We have some little brat in my house! I want her OUT! NOW."
"If you don't want her here, why didn't you just leave her at the store?" Lockee asked. That was fair, right? Her eyes finally moved from her jewelry, only to glare at the small girl. "You end up with the smallest kids, Noharu, she looks as little as Karoko almost. They're probably diseased."
Ignoring the last part, Noharu growled, "I DID try and leave her. She followed me. What was I suppose to do, claw her to death?"
"Why not?"
"...." Thwap. Noharu had to smack herself in the face to avoid hurting someone else very, very badly. "Lockee, it's highly frowned upon to slaughter children, you know."
"This is true," she agreed, sounding dissapointed. "They're horrid beasts, I've no idea why. When I was Queen of my kingdom, they did nothing but obey or their hands were chopped off and-"
"Will you focus on THIS subject?!"
"Fine, fine!" The spirit threw her hands up in the air defensively. "What did the guy say?"
"What guy?"
"The one at the counter," said Lockee slowly, raising an eyebrow. Noharu paused.
"...AH! That's brilliant! I'll just take her back to him!" Something tugged at her pants leg and she glanced downward. Somehow, Karoko had made her way over without anyones notice.
Well, almost. Onoway had apparently noticed, as she was staring right at Karoko and had been since she wandered into the room. Didn't this girl ever need to blink?
"What's wrong, Karoko?" Noharu asked as calm as she could, barely managing to ignore the horrible mood she was in.
"Mommy," her daughter whispered back. "Who is that?"
"She doesn't have a name. I found her."
"You found herrr? Like you found Karrroko?"
"Sort of," she grunted, nudging the bat girl away with a hand.
"So...then she's my sisterrr," Karoko pondered. Again, Noharu froze.
"Karoko, she's not-" Damn it, too late.
"Yay!" The Eden cheered suddenly. It was the first time since she'd come here she'd truly sounded excited over something. "I have a sisterrr too!" With no hesitation, she snatched her new siblings hand and half drug her into her room.
Noharu's mouth hung open. "...s**t."
"Oh, God, this is great!" Lockee shook with laughter, nearly dropping the dishes she'd just picked up.
"Oh, it's wonderful. Guess who's gonna babysit her, Lockee?"
"Oh, no way!"
"And congratulations," Noharu smirked. "You just named her. Onoway it is."

I Spy With My Little Eye... "Mother..."
"I told you not to call me that." Noharu was all but ignoring her newest daughter, lifting the newspaper up a bit higher in front of her face. At times she could substitute as one of those grumpy old men in TV shows, if age and gender difference allowed it.
For a short while, Onoway said nothing. She didn't appear ready to leave, just gathering her thoughts and thinking of how to approach this. "It's about Karoko," she said finally.
The paper dropped, and the butterfly girl who had done nothing so far but show concern was met with a cold glare. "What about her?"
"I'm afraid she may be having some...issues with her eyesight, Mother."
"Don't be stupid, her eyes work fine." With a 'tsk', she lifted the paper again, only to have a dark hand lowering it once more.
"I really don't think so. You see, we were playing that game... that one where you spy on objects of color. Anyway, she was becoming progressively worse at it the more we looked at things."
"Oh?" Noharu's eyebrows went up. Undoubtedly, Onoway had her full attention now. "I believe it may be in her best interest to get her something to assist with this." She paused, and then added, "Also, she's becoming frustrated the text on those books she likes so much are becoming hard to read for her."
"I'll take care of it," Noharu said sternly, and lifted the paper again. Just as soon as she was done with this...
------------------------------------------------------------
"Wherrrre we going, Mommy?"
"The store," Noharu answered. Such an answer didn't seem to satisfy Karoko.
"What storrre?" the toddler prodded. The fox demon walked carelessly down the street. Once in a while she'd bump into someone, and though they always apologized she completely ignored the occurence and carried on.
It was in crowds as big as these it become apparent how small Karoko was, so Noharu didn't hesitate to carry the Eden on her shoulders.
"We need to get you glasses."
"Glasses? What's glasses?" When she felt comfortable with someone, Karoko could be surprisingly curious. And, in Noharu's opinion, very annoying.
"They're going to help your eyes, now hush."
------------------------------------------------------------
"May I help you?" The desk clerk chirped as the bell hanging off the door chimed in welcome. Noharu made an unpleasent face.
"You can take that bell off the door, it's damn annoying."
"O-oh, well, I-"
"Nevermind. I need some glasses for this one here." As she spoke, she pulled Karoko effortlessly off her shoulders, set her on the ground and nudged her forward slightly. The woman, like many, seemed to find her 'cute'.
"Aww, what a darling! Sure, sure, just come this way." Karoko was hesitant to follow, but when she looked up to meet Noharu's face, her expression was clearly the 'no non-sense' kind. Regretablely, she left her guardian and followed the stranger.
Everything in the next room seemed big and intimidating. Not that Karoko was hard to scare, but for most toddlers the unknown machines and things would've shaken them a little.
For the next few minutes, the stranger made Karoko read off some weird charts. She didn't understand why; the letters on them didn't spell out any real words from what little she could see of them.
"Oh, you certainly do need glasses, sweetie." The Eden nodded obediently and watched the woman vanish through another door. She was tempted to run off and find Noharu again, but before she could pondered the thought the woman returned.
"Here, try these on." Carefully, she placed a pair of thin-rimmed, blue colored glasses on her face...and they fell to the ground. The realization came, and the employee chuckled light-heartedly. "Oh, my, I didn't even think about that! Your ears won't work properly with these. I'm sure we have some for you, this is Gaia after all."
Sure enough, there were. A pair with thin rims like the last, outlined in black.
"There! Do you like them?" Again, Karoko just nodded. Truth be told, her sight was suddenly a lot better. She'd even be able to read her books again now! Still, her mind focused only on finding Noharu again.
------------------------------------------------------------
"All done!"
Noharu had been gazing boredly out the shops window, arms crossed. When the two entered the room again, she turned toward them and examined Karoko. Within seconds the Eden was clinging to her leg. "Those look good," she told her.
They paid and left, walking back the way they'd come. This time, though, with her vision improved, Karoko's eyes caught sight of something. Wordlessly, she pointed to it from Noharu's shoulders.
"What?" questioned the teenager, turning to see what had interested her so much. "A book store...? You're too young to worry about that stuff." Cross-eyed, she glanced up at the bat girl, who pouted so patheticly it could break a weak heart. "Fine, fine."
------------------------------------------------------------
Walking back didn't appeal that much to either of them, and both had willingly decided on the bus. Noharu, in particular, was pleased with this. Finally, she could finish reading her paper.
Karoko sat beside her with a stack of new books on her lap. She watched her mother reading so intently, unblinking. Hm...
When Noharu glanced over to make sure all the people weren't making Karoko too nervous, it took all she had not to burst into laughter. The girl held a book, upside down, to her face, gazing at the words with the same steel expression Noharu had while reading.
Shaking her head, she returned to her paper.
