The weremutt's mind seemed to be elsewhere at the moment, as it often was, and he bounced one leg up and down idly, tapping his heel to the kitchen floor. His hands slid up, fingers working over the scar on his forehead (he had yet to put his forehead protector on,) a weary sigh leaving him. He had officially decided that children were quite a handful. He had been up a good deal of the night before tending to Cougar and his noisy leaf. Thank the gods his other children were quiet. And that Ajani didn't bother him at night.. Maybe he should go feed Nny...

He was snapped out of his thoughts by Arafel's voice, his gaze drifting towards her, brows arching, "Hm?" He tossed her a sleepy, what had meant to be affectionate smile. "What is it?" His fingers crept thier way through his hair.

Her thoughtful frown quickly turned into a faint smile when he looked to her, then back to the frown as she sat up straight in her chair, trying to look determined. "We need a last name!" she stated with a firm nod, eyes shutting for some form of effect.

A pause was given before her eyes snapped open and her so determined look failed her, falling into an open mouth dumb look. "That is.." she started, glancing to the wall "For the baby... I never had a last name." her hands managed to find eachother in her lap, and begin fidgeting at her clothing.

The male watched her thoughtfully, and then let out a slow breath as she threw out her idea. A last name? His fingers tangled in dark-colored locks, gaze drifting in a thoughtful manner about the room, shoulders slumping forward. "Ngh." He remained silent for awhile, fangs working themselves lightly over his lower lip. What did they need one of those for? He never really understood the whole thing... He knew that people were supposed to be proud of their family names or something... But he was never really into all that crap. His intelligence was more in books, not family life or any of that social garbage.

He looked steadily towards her now, having seemed to come to a conclusion. "Well... I kept my father's last name, but... We don't really use it. It goes along with his bloodline, and brings... Eh... Negative attention, y'know?" He lifted his hands, clasped them together and let them fall between his knees. "What do you want a last name for?" His tone was more curious than anything else. It was something he hadn't thought of.

She kept her eyes to the wall, suddenlly rather nervious about her idea. Maybe it was the pregnency but she seemed to be becoming more.. timid than usual. Or as timid as she used to be. It made her more fidgety around people in general. Only when asking about odd things like such with Freize.

When he spoke up Arafel quickly looked back to him, its rude not to look at someone when they talk afterall. She gave a light nod to his first statement, then forcing a smile to mask the bit of nerviousness she had. "Well... It's hard to do certian things without a lastname. Alot of jobs use your last name.. and schools. And people... It was just allways awkward when anyone would ask and we had no answere." She gave a quick smile and a shrug. Most of anything about her past was refered to as "we", meaning her and her twin.

The 'mutt went quiet for a moment, and then heaved a sigh and moved closer to Arafel, draping an arm about the female and drawing her closer. He kissed her forehead lightly, eyes drifting to a close. "Hm... Well, I guess so..."

She was lucky, as normally when he gets veyr little sleep and is given something like this, he responds with 'I'll think about it' or something and drops the subject for a ridiculously long time. Maybe it was something about her timid behavior that got to him. Who knows? He let his sudden inu ears twitch as his mind briefly wandered on the topic. "Hmn.. Demo... What'd we do for a last name? A last name is not something you can just... Eh... Pull out of a hat or whatever."
PostPosted: Fri Aug 19, 2005 11:51 pm

Arafel looked at him curiously as he came closer, glancing at the arm, then back at him. Almost as if the common action had her lost. She blinked once or twice at the kiss, before grinning widely and practically glomping him. "Thankyou!"

Her tail wagged behind her, one arm behind him, the other wrapped around his torso to his sholder. Her forehead coming to rest on the oposite sholder. Ofcourse the action was a bit more akward with the swell of her stomach between them.. but it wasn't bad enough for her to concern herself with yet.

She gave a curious look to his knees, seeing as thats where her line of eyesight lead her. Name? Well she never actually got that far... Actually a hat wasn't a bad idea. "Why can't you just pull it out of a hat?" she lifted her head to stare at him curiously. If possible her knowlage on families was even worse than his...

The male went quiet again after being glomped, thinking over her question thoughtfully, ears twitching slightly. Hm.. How to explain this.. "Well..." His hands came to rest lightly on her back, fingers lacing together. "My father said.." Yes, this was a good place to start. This was the only way he really knew about family names and all of that crap. ".. That the family name was something to be honored no matter what.. Something thats a part of who you are, and who you become."

His tail swished side to side in a lazy sort of fashion, a sigh huffed out from between pursed lips. Yes, that sounded about right. That was what he had said.. He let his eyes drift to a close, just thinking for a few seconds.

"Oh." she blinked. That made sense. She liked it when Freize explained things to her. She wasn't the smartest being alive, but who would blame her?

She gave a light nuzzle to his shoulder, smiling contently now. The previous amount of nervious pretty much completely gone. "So what do you think we should use?"

The male smiled down towards her, face burrying down into her hair for a moment. "Mmrph." And then Freize's head was back up and his mind was off somewhere... What would they use.. There was always that, those times were over... But... "Well, I have one idea... It's kind of a mouthful and all of that, but... It's a name."

A name that he was actually fairly proud of- the name that his father had passed down onto him. It may not be the most honorable name in the eyes of those he had grown up around, but it was the one that had belonged to his father. Besides, after... Erm, marrying, the family usually took on the male's family name... Right? "Kyomutentan... Or we could use something else." His ears drooped slightly. He'd rather use that one, but he wouldn't push it on her.

She smiled, letting her eyes shut for a moment in contentment as he spoke. She gave a light noise of responce "Mm?" as if to ask "what is it?" But at the moment she was far too content to open her mouth.

She paused to think over the name. For a reason unknown to her the sound of long complicated names was appealing.(*coughelvencough*) "I like it!" her tail wagged a bit as she looked up to him, having a childlike enthusiasm about it.

He brightened immediately after getting her approval, "Really?" His ears were perked now, inu tail swishing merrily behind him, a smile plastering itself across his face. "Then it'll work?" He was so excited by the thought of keeping that name in his family... Passing it onto his son... It was something he wanted to do, but never could before. Mostly because he didn't want anyone else to experience what he had growing up, which they would be forced to if they were from him in any way. Damned curse. He let it go for now.
PostPosted: Mon Sep 26, 2005 7:14 pm

Arafel nodded, even more excited when he perked up. "'Course!" she grinned widely, showing off her fangs before giving him a light peck on the cheek.

Somehow the talk of his last name made her think to say something. Normally she never spoke of his curse, she found it.. inappropriate. She wasn't comfortable with her own, so why should he be with his? "And.. We don't have to worry about either of our curses..." her "wings" flexed a bit after being spoken of. "Kamiki managed to find a way to rid the curse from the baby... Since it hadn't fully set yet or something of the like." she frowned a bit.. the whole thing had confused her. She never had been the brightest, expecially with magic.

Oh well... The baby would be curse free, this world didn't care for mixed breeds as much. Everything would work out well... hopefully.

((I need to go pester Kamiki for some knowlage about how that might be done and work out RP stuff with her. XD get you in it too. ))

She paused making breakfast for the small hoarde of youngsters to pop open the little book. The journal she had for herself... To write down every moment about this to look back on and smile.
Just a quick note but enough to write about.
---

I asked Freize about a last name for the baby. I was worried for some reason that he might think it was a silly idea. But.. he had a name. A really nice one.
Kyomutentan
It is kinda long. But I like long.

I hope its not too much trouble for the baby to learn.

.:.I'm a soccar mom!.:.
(I'm so funny arn't I? Get it? Kicking baby... Makes the mom a soccar... soccar mom..? XD

Arafel
Arafel smiled, carefully picking up the plate and the glass of milk. Moving around to return to the table, carefully setting the lucnh infront of the boy. It was wierd.. Freize was out with the other kids, and all her own children had their own things to go to. Which for once just left her and Spiro.

"I hope thats okay." she fidgeted a bit with a smile, for some reason she felt nervious around Freize's kids. She knew Freize himself accepted her, but there was allways the chance one of the kids wouldn't.
But she quickly tossed the thought away to return to the kitchen and get herself something.

Freize
The halfbreed lowered his eyes, nodding. "Thank you..." He had trouble with adults besides Freize.. He chewed at his lower lip lightly, observing the lunch before letting his head lift once more. The weremutt had taught him that he should always wait for everyone else to get their food and be sitting before he should eat himself. His tail swished slowly behind him and he fiddled with a bandaged wrapped around one of his fingers.

Spiro was far from judgemental- he didn't believe he had the right to be judging anyone else, or that anyone else deserved to be judged. He didn't think it was fair to decide who and what people were like that... He just didn't like it.

Arafel
Arafel gathered her own food, the same as what she gave spiro just.. minus the bread. And up the meat. So basically some meat on a plate. Woo. And a glass of water... Simple was good.
She set her food down, pulling the chair back to sit before freezing. Her eyes widened in an odd expression of shock. She stood straight, hand moving to her stomach.

The shocked expresion stayed a moment more before she let out a loud squeal. Nearly jumping with joy.

Freize
The lack of women he had grown up around was obvious just then. Arafel squealed, and Spiro looked at her as if she had sprouted herself a third head.. His brows arched slightly and he wondered if he should ask if she were okay.. "E-erm..." He gave a tilt to his head, watching the older one curiously.

Well, this was new. He settled back slightly, finally getting himself to speak, "Are you.. Okay?"

Arafel
Arafel hadn''t really been so happy around.. well, anyone before. "Wha? Oh. Yea!" She beamed, both hands moving over her stomach "Aa! It did it again!" surely she looked insane to the poor child. But in all honesty she was too exceited to care.

In about a second she was next to him, mindful of his much needed personal space bubble. Pointing to her stomach "Feel Feel! The baby''s kicking!"

Freize
The halfbreed watched her, completely baffled as to what was going on. This was a little too odd for him. He had trouble with normal behavior, and now this.. He shifted slightly, teeth tugging at his lower lip. What the heck was-

She was by him now, pointing at her stomach and telling him to feel... He looked up at her and then uncertainly lifted a hand... He paused, and then rested it lightly on her stomach, as if expecting it to explode.

Arafel
Arafels smile widened even more (if possibe) when the baby did indeed kick into spiro's palm. It would have been awful if nothing had happend. I really AM crazy!

She made another highpitched noise of happiness, though it wasn't quite the squeal as before. Her tail wagging vigorously behind her.

Freize
The halfbreed jumped as something in Arafel's belly jumped against his hand. He hesitated a bit, seeming really curious now, "The... The baby..?" He looked up towards her with a childish expression, having not a lot of knowledge about unborn babies, but she said the baby was kicking or something... And... He was curious. So curious, he let his inner childish innocence show. Atleast for a little while, anyways.

Arafel
The krazee pregnent lady nodded happilly. "It's never done this before... He or she must want to meet you." God only knew if that was true or not. But it worked well with the situation. And she beleived it, so that was enough.

Arafel though didn't have a clue about any of the childrens ignorence to the whole thing, and didn't know enough to explain it without being asked. Atleast she could use the anology that Kagi had used now.

Freize
The boy tilted his head at that, letting his hand return to his side now, a bit awkwardly. "Oh..." He looked down for a moment, rocking on his heels before looking back up at her with a blank face, "Why?" He didn't know why any baby would want to meet him, it didn't make any sense... He was a bit surprised that she had said that, and that someone kicked because they wanted to see him.. That was... Well, he didn't know. But it didn't make sense to him. And the way he was thinking, it wouldn't make sense to anyone else either.

Arafel
"Well.. because." she gave a thoughtful look "One, you're his or her big brother. And two, who wouldn't want to meet you?" try not to hit a nerve here. "I mean.. I know i'd want to get out and see you... But Iunno if that means much.." Not that she meant much... But atleast that was something, ne? She gave a shrug and a smile, then a squeak when the baby kicked once more. "See?" she gave a light laugh, her tail just now starting to slow down as she mentally tried to calm herself.

Freize
Spiro went quiet for a moment, thinking to himself silently... "Oh..." He hesitated, and then looked up at the woman and actually smiled a bit, nodding his head slightly. "Okay..." He seemed to have gotten something from her talk, but what it was no one could be certain.. He jumped a bit when she mentioned the baby kicking again, his hand lifting uncertainly before resting gently on her belly again... He wouldn't really be their brother, though, because... Freize wasn't his dad, but that was okay. He had learned that "siblings" were okay to have sometimes.

Arafel
Arafel's smile widened, shifting so he could feel better. There were a few more kicks, each getting weaker than the last before the baby seemed to drift off to sleep or something of the like. Arafel waited a moment, eyeing the swell of her stomach "Looks like he or she got tired." she thought outloud, glancing to the forgotten food on the table. "Oh. Sorry... Your food must be col..." she trailed off. Sandwitches didn't really need to be warm did they? "Your drinks getting warm."

Freize
The boy was still for a moment, waiting to see if there would be any more... And then his hand recoiled quickly, tucking itself into his pocket. It wasn't often he touched another person willingly- it seemed like he really was making progress in his people-fear area. He nodded, "It's okay..." He went to slip quietly back into his seat and return to eating, pondering over the whole scene and planning to write something in his journal about it. It was journal worthy, after all.. Someone had wanted to see him. He went back to eating his sandwich.

Arafel
Arafel seated herself as well, kicking her feet back and forth as best she could with her feet touching the ground. Happilly picking at her food. She never ate much, well now she did. The pregnency hadn't really brought too many odd cravings though. And no morning sickenss. So far it had been really good.

The baby kicked!!
I can't beleive it. It was so... I don't know. But it felt so good. Like... The baby wanted out.

I guess it's odd to say it was nice a baby was kicking me.

Spiro was there. I think i scared him with my yelling. But he got to feel it kick! I'm really glad he got to. Of all the people who coul dhave been there for some reason he seems the best.
Excluding Freize ofcourse... Anything is good with him. <3

Maybe I'm being wierd?
Bah, I'll blame it on the mood swings while I can. XD
