Up close, it was sickeningly easy to see the organs slowly shift to pull in to fill the space made by the shrinking lungs, and judging by Billy's gasping, he was still capable to breath at least a little. Paniced little breaths was not helping him stay calm. "No... no... bloody..." He weazed, his voice a choked whisper. That was when there was a horrible cracking noise and blood trailed down his mutated teeth. He was confused for a breif, delirious moment befor his tongue located the source- his gums. His teeth were shifting. He gave another cry as the bone of his front teeth seemed to stregnthen and spread, forcing the skin up his upperlip upward towards the area his nose used to be.

"C'mon," Sid said, trying to ignore what was happening. He couldn't keep himself from looking away for a moment, even then. "It'll help... uh, a little."

Billy choked, wriggling arms reaching out for him desperatly, like a frightened child slowly being eaten from the ankles up by a monster that was most certainly under his bed. The only thing he managed to utter besides his terrified, breathy whimpers were choked and wavering profanities.

Sid grunted as he tried to haul Billy up. He was a lot heavier than he looked, even with the liquifying bones and the like. Once he had him off the ground he moved as quickly as he could towards the lake- a little too quickly, in fact, as once he made it to the water he tripped and ended up joining Billy. He kicked away as quickly as he could afraid that he might be dragged down and drown if he kept holding on to the octopus.

Once he hit the water, it seemed William was overpowered by the cepholopod. Ink spurted out first in a thick spray and then a dark cloud once Billy's face went under the water. Instinct took hold, and aching, throbbing limbs thrashed frantically for anything to hold onto.

Sid felt a tentacle brush his foot and panicked. It wasn't until he was a good distance away and very short of breath that he realized he was fine. He surfaced, gasping for air, and turned to see where Billy was... kind of hard when he was still below the surface. Slowly, his breathing and heart rate fell back to normal, though in the time between Sid was reminded yet again that he was really to old for this s**t. Very cautiously, he swam back towards Billy.

Billy lay in the water, mind numb and reeling as he concentrated on breathing the sweet sweet water. He could hear his organs retract safely into what remained of his ribcage, but his body was still constricting and swelling and rearanging itself around his final shape. His arms all pulsated, his legs throbbing.

Taking a deep breath, Sid dove beneath the surface of the water. Part of him couldn't help but think of all those tombstones of the people who'd died by complications. It could happen to any one, with any change... what if it happened to Billy? He slowly swam closer, the bubbles coming from Billy's... ears were proof enough he wasn't dead yet, but that could change. Sid tentatively reached out to him.

Something was coming. He could feel the ripples in the water- a fish, a big fish was swimming his way. His head pulsated like the mantle of an octopus, his eyes glistening inhumanly as they watched Sid come closer.

In a flash, tentacles siddenly wrapped around his wrists, another coiling about his arm as Billy suddenly latched himself onto the older man. There was a burst of fresh ink, and even more limbs wrapped tightly around his middle, threatening to squeeze him in two.

Sid was so taken by surprise that he inhaled a bit of water and ink, which only help his panic even worse as he began to choke with the tentacles wrapped around them. As he thrashed against them, something else rose from the dark recesses of his addled mind to take control of the situation. Up until then, the viperfish had only make itself known with the vague displeasure at being anywhere dry or well let, with his- or their- immediate survival a bigger priority, it lashed out. Sid would have never dreamed of biting somone, but his mouth opened wide anyway. If he couldn't get away, he could at least take a chunk out of anything within biting distance.

He got a hold of what had once been Billy's human arm, and as his teeth sunk in, there was the distinctive crunch of a crumbling bone inside the sushi. The octopus clinging to him flailed with a sudden screatching cry of pain.

With the contricting tentacles gone and a satisfying hunk of meat taken out, the viperfish pulled away. Sid came back to his senses just as he broke the surface, swallowing if only so he could have the chance to suck in a few good breaths. Only after he'd recovered did he stop to think about what the hell he just ate.

"Oh ********..."

Billy was flailing, half trying to swim away deeper, half trying to crawl back ashore. As soon as his head broke the surface, though, he was screaming in pain. Hanging from a flailing stump of what was left of his arm was his tentacle, limp and severed save for a smalls crap of meat left along the bottom where the suckers were located. and the webbing between the limbs. Clear, oozing blood spurted out andover his wound even as he climbed over the rocks to try to flee the monster that had taken the chunk out of him.

A part of Sid was very content with the catch, but the part that was in control was thoroughly, incredibly disgusted. He ate part of Billy. The words ran through his head again and again, until his revulsion grew too great to allow anything to stay down.

Too much, it was all just too damn much. He covered his mouth and tried to swim for a better place to throw up, but not fast enough. The attempt just made it happen faster.

Billy simply collapsed over the rocks, sobbing in pain and terror and shock silently, dragging his severed but still attatched limb along behind him.
