animal farm animal farm aahhhhhhhhhhhhh.. i hated that book to the core. it was one of the stupidest books i have ever read. even with the true meaning of the story deep down i still hated it.

Let's hope you never decide to become a member of the voting public.
1984 and Animal Farm by Orwell should be required reading for high school students.

I've read Animal Farm... but not for fun. It was part of our Language Arts' curriculum... and our teacher always makes fun books detestable with all those infamous packets and 1000-pt. projects.

Yes, more OLD stories. But some other things too.

The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer
Animal Farm by George Orwell
The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane

Beowulf
Man on Fire by AJ Quinnell
Any of the books by Shirley Jackson or Octavia E. Butler

So, have you? What did you think? Did you like them? I did ^_^...except I never finished The Canterbury Tales and Beowulf. Need to do that...

I've read The Scarlet Letter, Animal Farm, and Beowulf. The Scarlet letter was pretty good, but it had a chapter that I thought was kind of campy towards the end. Animal Farm, I found extremely sad...it angered me. Which is what I suppose it is suppose to do. I didn't like Beowulf. I know it is a classic, but something about it disagreed with me.

I really want to read The Canterbury Tales, but I am having trouble finding an unabridged copy of it at the Half-Price books where I shop.

I read Beowulf in school, and I have Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, I just haven't read it yet.... Has anyone read To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee? It's really good!

It is really good. It is actually one of my favorites at the moment. We were suppose to read it in High School, but I just couldn't do it. Then for a college philosophy class we had to read certain chapters. I ended up reading the whole thing. It made me realized that different books have different impacts on the same person over time.
