Aha ha ha Jazz Band!! ^_^
I play alto sax and this'll be my fourth year in Jazz band. It's probably my favorite after school thing lol, other then when I get stuck playing the same part as someone who sucks miserably and I get yelled at for screwing up. -_- Happened all last year, I got yelled at even though I wasn't messing up she was. She doesn't even know how to finger F# and two altos playing an F and an F# at the same time is the most horrible sound I have ever heard.
I wish our Jazz band has started already, we don't start until after marching season and we don't usually get anything actually done...well ever because the only people that ever show up are the saxes, the trombones (one of which is our BD) our piano/percusion/trumpet player (the middle schools BD) and maybe another trumpet if we're lucky. -_-

Hi there, Thats true though... Our jazz band has not started yet either, though the marchhing one is almost done so, HUZZAH! I play the tenor by the way, and this will be my first year in our jazz band (I was playing in just concert band before, now I play both!) AWESOMENESS!!! It is also true that I get yelled at for a freshman's mistakes except mine is a "he". He will poke me for fingering of every single note and still does not play them right (today, he kept playing A when he should have been playing B!!) Never pays attention to the key signature and is ALWAYS OUT OF TUNE!! Ahh... if only I were not shy to speak out in public, I would tell them who the real culprit is... but then again, that would be considered ratting out, right? Oh well smile Anyway, since this is my first year in jazz band, wish me luck! rofl

I play bass clarinet in my school's senior jazz band. Unfortunately, my teacher doesn't have any bass clarinet parts for any of the songs, so I have to transpose the 3rd trombone part every time we get new music. It's my first year in it, and we're only really doing Christmas music right now. I like it though, and I was actually the first bass clarinet in my school to join it, so that was pretty cool.

This is my first year in jazz band and it's awesome! Except, of course, there are no flutes. So I learned trumpet. cool Learning trumpet while keeping up with flute and piccolo was hard, but totally worth it. I'm 4th (last) trumpet now in jazz band and extremely excited... though I'm not very good. XP I still play flute and piccolo in class, and marched piccolo this year.

^ You should ask the director if you could play flute. Haven't you seen anchorman? lol. Jazz flute is pretty cool. I just don't like the girl who's playing it in our band. Well, she played last year, we haven't started yet this year so hopefully she won't be in it again.
We even had a clarinet. But trumpet is cool too biggrin I played 4th trumpet last year. The other 3 trumpets were seniors who graduated already. So now that I'm a senior, I get to play 1st. I can't wait until our season starts in January.

^ You don't ask my BD things. He commands and you obey without question. He decided flute would not play in his jazz band, so flute will not play in his jazz band. That's just how my band works. Although I'd LOVE to play jazz flute, it's amazing.

I play second alto, which is pretty good, considering I'm only in 8th grade. We have our first performance coming up in a couple weeks and I'm sooooo nervous. I can barely play the music! emo

i love jazz band. this year we have sing sing sing, jumpin jack (Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is awesome), Go Daddy O, Mambo Swing, Meet the Flinstones, Bli-Blip, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, The Impression That I Get, and In the Mood.
We love Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. Three of our jazz charts (jumpin jack, go daddy o, and mambo swing) are three of their charts. we're (hoping) to attend a BBVD concert next month...if we get tickets...
last year (i'm a junior) i played alto sax (out of three). this year, i switched to bari sax because our former bari saxophonist flaked out on us and no one else would switch. (our best tenor player was going to; i think we all wanted her on tenor). which means i can't play the clarinet part for bli-blip this year, but oh well.
xd i'm a dork!
