When I first got Nettle, he was pretty afraid of me. After a while he had learnt my sent and didn’t mind me around as much. He would bite everyone else but me sweatdrop . If I were to enter the room (when he can’t smell me right away) He would hiss at me or run to hide in his dome. I would too if I were him, it's probably scary to hear loud door noises. I have been spending a lot of time with him. Just a few days ago he didn’t hide in his dome, hiss at me or cover his face! blaugh He didn't mind me there at all! I put food in his bowl and he carried on with what he was doing blaugh Maybe he is more used to things now 3nodding
It takes a while for most hedgehogs to warm up to their new owners 3nodding

I haven’t met many Hedgehog owners since I joined Gaia. Although I have met many who are considering getting one. I hope every one of those people are willing to dedicate everyday to their new hedgehog. 3nodding I am simply concerned, because hedgehogs have grown more popular recently, and I really hope this is not a reason for getting one.

I think Hedgehogs like ball toys. I was thinking about something I could hang from the top of his cage with a ball at the end or something. That way he isn't rolling it around in his poop or food dishes etc. I hear toilet paper rolls are good toys too (not for younger hedgehogs, they can get stuck). I'm kind of worried he might try and eat it though. So I would have to supervise xp . I bet some hamster toys would be appropriate. Next time I’m at the pet store, I'll see what I can find 3nodding

Aww your hedgehog is so cute. I like the thread by the way. I don't personally own a hedgehog but one of my friends owns one and he says they're funny.

I got Nettle some ferret toys, it's hard to find toys made just for hedgehogs.
mrgreen Anyways I got him these ball toys with bells inside. He seems to show interest for them 3nodding . I just hope he doesn’t get bored of them.

The other night while I was hand feeding Nettle, he began to twist his body quite unusually. He moved in a twisted rocking wobbly movement. It was terrifying I wasn't sure if he was choking or just scratching his side. Another thought that came to mind was a common hereditary hedgehog disease called wobbly hedgehog syndrome “WHS”. I read more about the symptoms at this site, which includes a clip of what they look like with this disease. arrow

After doing my research I don't think he has that, thank god! sad It's a terrifying problem and I am truly sorry for anyone that has had this happen to there babe!
