I have played this. It was over a year ago when I first got into it. I was the only girl in the group....and all the guys thought that I was stupid because I didnt know what I was going to be or what I was doing. Once I got the hang of it, I got to make more advanced characters. I was a frostmage, a elf...and I totally forget what I was before I quit playing. I also started to look at the minatures that they have out, just as collector items. They look real cool. I actually played the basic game that came with some of the minatures.
College has gotten to me and I havent been able to play in a long time. My sister is now getting me back into D&D so I cant wait for it. ^^

Chaotic good falconer elf. Thing. Heh.
I started playing in a game but since we all got busy we never made it past three sessions. sweatdrop My friends thought I was funny because I just kind of went with the flow of things. "Well...yeah I guess I'll tag along with you guys. I mean..it's not like my character has anything better to do. I mean, seriously, what would happen if I just said, 'Naw, screw you guys, I'm going to go into the woods with my bird?' That doesn't make much sense now, does it?"
As you can see, I'm a little new to the D&D thing.

Wo0T! I've played AD&D a couple of times lately. AWESOME game. If anyone out there hasn't played it, but you like to role-play, DEFINITELY do it!! It really is one of the best paper and dice RPG's out there and it's been around for a long time. It's just a great excuse to get together with a bunch of cool people and have fun. My man got me an awesome set of dice. I haven't played in a little while, but it's easy to play every once in a while as long as you have dedicated players. My character is a warrior halfling. biggrin

Currently I'm playing a campaign where I'm a half-elven character actress (technically a rogue with some stat modifications) who's getting too old to play the parts she's used to playing and wound up getting fired, so she's joined this band of travelers in hopes of finding a theatre troupe that's willing to cast her as the leading lady even though she's...really really old...and kind of fat for someone who's part elf. sweatdrop

I've been playing DnD for about three 1/2 years. My characters: Lvl 24 Mist Elf Bard (she prestiged into a homebrewed class called Power Singer) Lvl 1 Gnome Ranger (I killed her off so I could play the bard) Lvl 5 human Barbarian (male) Lvl 18 Drow Ranger (male) Lvl 12 homebrewed race homebrewed class (focusing on fire... because I love fire...) Lvl 12 homebrewed race homebrewed class (focusing on healing. because we need it)
my homebrewed classes and races will be sent in to DnDWiki eventually.
All of my characters have had a flaw, some homebrewed. Like the rules for ADHD/ADD my dungeon came up with... And the schizophrenia...
I'm playing in a rifts campaign now, I play a female Burster will a superiority complex.
all the players are either in college or socially contributing adults. We're talking about playing Original DnD one of these days...

I'm a guy, and this isn't really relevant but here goes...
I would LOVE to play D&D, but I'm still in middle school, and nobody thinks it's anymore than a game for sweaty 20 year old nerds who live with their mothers. Not only that, but I have a couple of friends who are SUPER Christian and don't read Harry Potter because it "promotes evil witchcraft" or whatever, and they think D&D is the devil's game. If they found out, chances are I'd be killed.
I'd never be able to play without losing at least half of my friends.
crying It pains me so.

Eh, all the people I play with are either 20 year old nerds (but not sweaty ones, and they live in the dorms or off campus, but not with their parents) or older (and my fiancee is older, and he IS sweaty, but he lives with me, not his parents, so there's another stereotype broken)
1) You CAN game and not be a sweaty 20-0yr old nerd 2) you don't have to live in your parents' basement 3) You can and will eventually get a date 4) Gamer chicks understand you better than most females
my dungeon is also 6/5 ratio of girls to boys. Myself and two others are dating or engaged to, some of the guys. Most of these relationships have been going on for over a year. Steady, dependable relationships. Agog! Aghast! Gamers will find love at last!
But the whole devil-worshiping thing, seriously. I'm not even sure how to refute that without pissing all your friends off anyways. Middle school's a difficult time, but if your friends won't support you no matter what you do, then I am sorry to inform you that they aren't true friends. You will survive middle school without them. I know, I did.
I've stopped attending church mainly because they informed me I was going to hell for playing DnD, an for being active in the Society for Creative Anachronism, which is a medieval re-creation group. I also couldn't stand their hypocrisy, or their holier than thou attitude. DnD had nothing to do with my loss of faith, people's reactions to it did.
If you honestly want to play, you could do it without telling your 'friends' or letting on. Half the people up here don't know I game, simply because its never come up in conversation. I know plenty of Campus Crusaders (yes, their real org. name) who are too stupid to think their way out of a paper bag. If you are as intelligent as your sig leads me to think, you could outmaneuver them quite easily.
Your biggest problem would be finding a dungeon that would take you before high school. The people around here will not game with anyone under 15, simply because DnD sometimes throws you into adult situations and explicit content. Our DM won't even allow his oldest son to game with us until his 15th birthday.
I wish you luck, and keep us posted!

If I could join a group, it'd be fine, but I'm not very old so I wouldn't be welcome in a lot of places. The only reason my friends would find out is because I'd have to get them to play with me, and that's the only way.

I started playing around 5 years ago-my brothers a good DM, although now we tend to lean more towards Forgotten Realms and D20 (the futuristic one) We Started with version 2.0 and I started with.. Melee, I think her name is-the starting wizard, and continued playing woth elves, mainly rangers and wizards, its fun though smile

I've been playing D&D my entire life. I love it. I've unfortunately not had time to play it any time recently. I've been taking a 2 year hiatus so that I can pass university classes. I miss it so very much though.

My first D&D was about 8 years ago... I was a chaotic neutral, half elf, rogue. I had horrible luck (dice rolls) with swords and knives... but had immense luck with throwing things and grappling hooks..... XD I have no one to play with anymore and can't really say I have the time to either.. sigh... good times though.
