First, most "love" in today's society is not love at all; it's lust. If all these people that "loved" each other suddenly lost their physical attraction, would they still have enough of an emotional and intellectual attraction to continue loving each other? That's partly what I think love is; an emotional, intellectual, AND a physical attraction to another person. And something that makes me wonder about humanity is how rarely friends will admit that they love each other, as if it's some kind of taboo or something; friends DO love each other, just not with THE love. THE love is knowing that you want to spend the rest of your life with a single person NO MATTER WHAT! And I don't really believe that love is COMPLETELY unconditional; it depends on the person you fall in love with BEING the person you fall in love with. If they somehow change in such a way that you don't love them anymore, it could not have been true love.

Well, it is true that there is little of people saying to friends, "I love you," but philos (brotherly love) should be something that's just understood- it's not something you ought to have to express verbally, I think. Also, the English restriction to a single word for "love" is a problem- this is why Latin is superior biggrin It has three!

Really, guys. This guild is supposed to be better than this.

We can't relax and make jokes just because it is a Knowledge guild? Granted the joke wasn't in the best taste, but let it go.
Whoa, I never said you can't joke around. About half my posts are jokes (there's been a complaint against me about that sweatdrop ), but I never went out of line like that. That joke was just wrong. If it was funny, then no one would have minded.

You silly goose! I am distasteful like that.
Ok, just don't go around insulting people like that, or posting that stuff for that matter (atleast not in the knowledge forum, try your luck in the "Getting tired of......" topic in the entertainment sub-forum).

Ohh, bad burn. I'm sorry. I didn't realize how insulting it was. I take it all back. I'm such not a bad person, really.

And I think I'll post where I want as long as I follow the rules. : D
i find it funny but ive been hangin out and dating guys its just funny i get so many insults for being a christian i just laugh at the jokes and then danny gets mad sweatdrop

My statement is quite correct, but can be misunderstood.

The Bible
Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offense and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people's sins, but delights in the truth. It is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7

The thing that gets me about philos love today is that people are so shocked when a friend says that they love them. It really is NOT that strange. That's something to be remedied...

Well if they're truly your friend they should understand that withour you having to tell them, but it's always nice to be re-assured. If you say that to a friend who you consider to be just a friend, then they should know what you mean.

What is Love? (Baby don't hurt me... don't hurt me... no more) sweatdrop
In all honesty though.

Oh,

Hard to say. But I would guess that love is that point when a person leaves "I" thinking and arrives at "we" thinking with their partner.

Love is...acceptance and affection towards another, whether a boy/girlfriend, or to your little brother.

Love is when you'd do anything for that person, no matter what the cost.

Ehh...it's more that you can feel it than explain it. sweatdrop

Love to me does not need to be stated, I love my two great friends more than anything in the world but I havent told them anything near that ever, they would be shocked if I did.. but we all three know we each love each other a lot, we are pretty much the only people on the planet who truly understand each other to the core, because of that we love each other.

Of course we do other things to, we envy each other for what we each dont and do have, we compete with each other which brings out more envy and hate and just competitiveness, we dislike each other in what we do.. but as a lot of really not so smart and excessively stupid people say, love conquers all razz so at the end of the day even if we are mad at each other we still love each other and will always be friends of sorts, btw these friends of mine was has been my friend since I was 4 and my dad was friends with his dad for over 20 years before we met, he is 2 years older than me and knows almost every thing about me [except one thing], I know basically everything about him and we hang out quite often, and are able to tell each other everything whether its extremely private or whether its just normal talk while still feeling comfortable, hell we even slept in the same bed until we were 14 [then he got a bunk bed so I sleep on the top bunk when I go to his house now], and no I am not gay, just showing you how comfortable we are with each other.

I think love just means that your able to release everything onto another person and when they truly love you they will accept it all, every last drop of your fiber without hesitation, that to me is real love... and of course it takes time to build up to real love sometimes.
