Do you go?
  Yes!
  Are you kidding me?
I would if life wasn't too hectic, being a grown up sucks sometimes.
  Maybe, if there's GOLD!

I've been to 3 Pokemon conventions, Comic Con once and Anime Expo 4 times.

I'm going to Anime Expo again this summer and hopefully Comic Con too. I want to go to Yaoi Con but it's too far and I can't afford to fly there.

I was at Otakon back in '04, and AnimagiC here in Germany last summer. I may go to AnimagiC again this year since it's so close, but I'm not sure yet if I really want to attend.

I'm surprised neither Zercia nor myself posted in this thread over the last week or so. May 24th - 27th we were working our butts off at our own local convention. Ah well. Tis over now for yet another year. Though next year, I plan to kidnap a few of the guild's regulars up to Toronto to help us out. *evil smirk*

So far, I've been to two Otakons and two AnimeFests. 3nodding Seeing as I can't afford to fly out to Baltimore for Otakon anymore, I'm probably just going to go to AnimeFest from now on. sweatdrop I look forward to it every year, and have at least two more ahead of me!

The Rio Grande Valley had their first anime convention ever last year (Shimakon). I went....it was a pretty good time. I'm going to go again this year.

I've been to AnimeIowa 3 times. The 10-12 of august will be my 4th.

I'm too broke to go to any of the fancy big town anime conventions :p.

Wow... last posting was 3 months ago... anyway, I used to go to anime conventions in Canada (homeplace) but lately, I couldn't afford to go there because it's in the downtown core and the admission fee is around $50 for 3 days. Last time I visited was in 2003 and the price was $10 for 3 days. Right now, the only convention I go to is a beading convention. Today's convention is Bead Oasis which is located in Toronto's Metro Convention Center. Should be interesting. Well, have a wonderful weekend! biggrin

No anime cons yet... although I know Alanna's trying to drag me to AnimeNEXT one of these years. I was at Dexcon (gaming con) last year and probably will be this year, does that count? It's a start, anyway.

Oh... I was hoping to see at least one person say they go to ACEN (Anime Central, near Chicago...) or Wizard World (any of them... not just the one in Chicago.) it's kinda lonely being the only Otaku and Comic book geek in my family. My boyfriend is into Anime and video games, but I love everything that Japan spits at me (that sounded kinda gross...) and he reads some comics but I'm such a Marvel head it isn't funny!! (okay maybe a little funny...)

I am so jealous of you all! I want to go to a con so bad! However since many of you have been may I ask you for your insider opinions? I working on a gift for one of my best friends. She is a huge Sailor Jupiter fan (from Sailor Moon). I found a cross stitch pattern of Sailor Jupiter that is 200x300 approximately.

Once all that stitching is done I plan to turn it into a pillow. This endeavor was inspired by the pillow on this link: Fuu from Raye Earth Pillow It is so pretty!!!

Anyway, my question is this... if I made more anime inspired pillows, wall hangings, ect. that are cross stitched like this do you think they would sell at conventions? Hell, do you think I could sell them on ebay, around town, or period? Have any of you ever seen such at any of the conventions you've been too? If so what kind of prices do you recall?

A friend of mine who lives in Japan says that over there this sort of thing pulls $300-500 for a pillow or wall hanging the size I'm making of this or similar characters. He said certain others and other sizes can fetch up to $1,000 - $5,000 with the most insane one fetching nearly 1 million. (That last one was a "life size" wall hanging of Akira and his motorcycle.)

Well, for now I need to go. The friend I'm making it for is on her way over to hang out and I need to hide it before she sees it. ^_^
