Dragosani Kain

Kain lifted the tankard to his lips and took a long take of the large mugs contents. The froth lined his upper lip once he lowered it to reply....

"A bit woody...personally, ale brewed in steel containers are prefereable, sometimes the Iron leaves a hardened taste. Overall, for such a small place...they've done quite well here. Oddly, this place has better quality than most big cities that I've been too."

He pondered the thought, the first time he put thought into WHY that was so...he wasn't pleased with what he came up with, almost immediately...

"I suppose it would be from the quality of Water. I'm gathering that water is water, doesn't really matter what MAY creep into it...remind me not to have drinks that are mostly comprised of water in cities anymore. "

Okay. That was funny!~ The demoness cracked up, doubling over with laughter at the devil's sickened and serious expression. Oh yeah, she was thoroughly amused.

"Guess it's only natural for a fire user to be afraid of a lil' water!"

She jested with a grin.

"But seriously, be glad that you have the resistance to things that you do, I shudder to think of the stuff those silly human's injest with their weak immune systems."

"True"

The Devil took another swig of ale, a smile clearly dictated on his face. Just as Kain was drinking he laughed Ra'Kar's reaction and comment, the ale staying IN his mouth, he couldn't help but force himself to swallow it and then spout a series of chokes/coughs.

"HICAH-So-Coh...do you thing-ke we should get hi-cout now?"

He cleared his throat until his coughing stopped, talking wasn't going to get him very far right now in communication.

"I could go for a nice roasted Pig, how about you?"

That did it, she dissolved into a fit of laughter, dissapearing under the water's surface for a moment. Resurfacing, with her composure somewhat regained she grins at him, rivulets of water streaming down her lithe form as she stands up.

"I suppose... I can't wait to have a REAL bath when we get home..."

At the mention of food her stomach growled and Ra'kar arches one eyebrow as she cocks her head at him as if to say, 'D'ya really have to ask?'

"I guess you're about as anxious for food too."

He gave a hearty left and drew himself from the steaming water. Kain waded through the water and out to the towel rack where he grabbed one for himself and for Ra'Kar.

"Perhaps working with Lady Sierra won't be as grueling as I originally thought."

He started to rub himself down with the towel. And just because he was feeling playful...

"Bargirl! I need you! ..."

He shot a sly towards Ra'Kar and then immediately raised himself to his Proper stature and waited ...

Ra'kar winked, wrapping herself in a towel. And just as the door to the bathhouse was opening, (because she too was feeling a might playful) She gives the devil a generous shove, sending him tumbling backwards and into the bath again, sparing the little girl's sight. With a sploosh, and a curious stare from the child Ra'kar simply hands her the empty migs and pitcher.

"We'll be in to dinner in about 15 minutes."

As the child exits, Ra'kar grins and laughs at Kain.

"Oh come now, she's not at an age to enjoy such a spectacle yet."

Part of sharing Sierra's body, meant compromising on certain things. Humour at a child's expense or innocence was a no-no.

Kain sat there, all wet again. He peered out through his blinding mass of hair, his lips curling into a crooked grin/pout. He blew at the water and strands of damp hair, drolplets of water and hair flayed about.

"Touche'"

He wriggled his toes and pulled himself, once again, from the quickly cooling water. He dried himself off.....again.... and waited for Ra'Kar to lead. He assumed that she, living in the area, had been here before and would therefore know where to go while Kain was still stabbing blindly in the dark.

Clapping him on the shoulder with a snigger, she picks up her garments and carries them in the crook of an arm as she exits the building. It was dark out by now, and a few small torches had been lit to light their path back into the inn. Entering through the back way she takes a right and heads up a flight of stairs. There were roughly eight rooms total, they had been given rooms 4&5. Ajoined by a door in the shared wall. The demoness points to room 5.

"There you are sir. I shall see you for after dinner when I have dressed. Not everyone would appreciate the view as you did."

She enters into her room where her things had been placed by the stable boy. Tossing her travel clothes on the bed, she unbuckles one of the saddle bags and pulls out a light silken slip of an evening gown. Tightening the corset in place she tugs a brush through her ankle length hair and replaces the circlet on her head. Soft kidskin boots hug her feet and calves as she tugs them on. Grabbing her sword 'Elven Fire' she cinches it about her waist and heads down to dinner, the smells of roasting meat greating her nostrils.

Kain nodded his understanding and entered his room.

She really didn't have to go through the trouble of getting me a room...

Kain's effects were very few, his clothing underarm were the only other possesions he carried with him. His coin purse, cigarettes, and some other light/small items, the rest lay between reality dimensions and there he went.

Kain opened a small portal that offered nothing but black fire from its entrance. He stepped through and into the blackness. The place was Chaotic, nothing and everything happened at once here. It was Earsplittingly silent, technicoloured blandness...a Sanctuary. Here is where Kain's mind and spirit dwelled. If his body were to be destroyed, here, he would be reborn.

Everything went calm, a plateau of hardwood flooring and stone walls spun amixed a crimson and black myriad of burning lights. The lights were soft and comforting. Kain stepped through the ethereal door and laid his garments on a small table to his left. To his right was a rack of various weapons, bottles, and his alchemical tools. immediately infront of him was a desk and a blazing fireplace.

He stepped up a winding staircase on his left and came to an extravegant bedroom. The walls were lined with fine silks and, like the lower level, there was a weapon rack....only these weapons he had acquired from a world that was many years ahead of this one. They were commonly known as "Guns", "Rifles" to be more accurate. He wasn't very fond of them, weapons for cowards and idiots. He coudln't deny their destructive power but he liked the spray of blood that soaked into his skin when he ran someone through with his favoured blade,
Tempest, which lay on another desk to his right. To his left was his bed and grand dresser.

He sifted through the various articles of clothing he had gathered over the millenia and settled on a "Restoration" like look. A white doublet, small ruffle, comfortable red velvet vest and britches, and finally a snapping pair of black leather boots with Medieval like fold, archer boots.

Kain gussed up and then returned to his room back on Gaia. He was gone and back again almost instantly, where this worlds time was concerned. To him he'd been gone relatively fifteen minutes. So, he went on ahead to the dining area to get settled down and comfortable, familiarze himself with the place, in case of a possible ambush...not too many people liked Devils...or Kain, for that matter.

Ra'kar slips silently into the dining area, pulling up a chair beside her devlish companion, her strange gold eyes glinting eerily in the firelight. Sitting down with fluid grace, it was as if her very presence summoned service. A stout and gruff looking man around 5ft 11'' wanders over to them with mead and a basket full of bread and cheese.

"Here ye' go then. The roast will be along shortly, give a hollar if ye' be needin' anythin'."

Ra'kar simply nods and waves him off, picking up a peice of bread and breaking it in half, she picks up a pot of honey that was left in the centre of the table along with butter and jam. Pouring some on her plate, she dips it in and takes a hearty bite, all the while staring straight ahead through the window at the mishapen landscape. She was being oddly quiet... and something about her energy and entire being 'prickled' with alertness.

Something, also, had an effect on Kain's mood. He seemed, somewhat bored. As if someone had just put a spell on him. Only, Kain stared at the ceiling, slouched in his chair and arms in his lap.

His mind wandered back to time when he was a Man. A man of insatiable greed, passion, and glory. That could've also been due to the thing growing inside of him at the time. The time before his damnation to night.

The memories flooded back and forgot all about the presence of the Demoness...

The rest of their food would come, they would eat. Neither really seemed like talking. But 10 minutes or so into the meat and vegetables, Ra'kar's head shot up, golden eyes glinting as obsidian pupils narrowed into cat-like slats. Gripping her sword hilt in one hand she pushes away from the table and sprints across the room, flinging open the door and running to the lean-to that serves as the stables.

Sword drawn she stands at the entrance to the barn-like structure. Staying her blade before her, she scans the area cautiously in her ready stance. The acrid smell of an animals blood filled the air. Horse blood---

Ra'Kar's head shot up and Kain became immediately alert. She armed herself and took off outside, Kain dropped his utensils and chased after and out.

At first step outside of the Tavern Kain summoned forth Tempest in a flurry of flickering flames and embers that swirled around his right arm and extended out over six feet in length. The obsidian bladeshined in the moonlight, the whirling flames quickly dispersing from the razor.

Kain whipped his head from left to right, peering into the darkness and "listened" for hiding thoughts out there in the darkness.
PostPosted: Tue Nov 14, 2006 8:13 pm

User Image Kain would be broadsided by the demonic creature as he looked around, 'listening'. The gargoyle like creatures had no traceable thought pattern. Only chaotic instincts of hunting and feeding. They came roughly four feet off the ground when darting about on all fours with gnashing teeth and tearing claws. They were rumoured to have venemous fangs, lethal to a mortal, unhealthy and unrecommended even for a devil or a high end demon. Covered with armour like hide, and leathery wings, they were capable of moving exceedingly quicly. Mush like wildcats, their instincts drove them to seek their prey's jugular. That would end it.

Ra'kar turned to help him and barely managed to roll to the left as a second such creature dropped on her from the barn roof. In her mad scramble, she wasn't sure, but she thought she heard a third. Rolling to her feet she slashed for the beast's flank as it whirled on her.

The heavy grunt of the feral animal only gave Kain a split second to only brace himself before he was sent flying to the right...and over Ra'Kar as she rolled under him from a SECOND beast!

Luckily the beast has just finished the attack at Ra'Kar as Kain would slam into the beasts nose...or where one SHOULD be, with his right shoulder. Kain's left arm surged with pain from the brutal impact and his right shoulder, though expected, was also flood with the ting of hurt but no so much damage done.

An experienced fighter, Kain, as he dropped to land along the beasts chest, tried to maneuver the blade but because of its size he couldn't get it into a thrusting position. Instead, he lined the blade along the creatures throat and pushed with all his might. His left arm crossing along his upper chest to defend retaliation as he fell/pushed himself away from the thing.
