Bennu had paid for her cheesecake and gone over to a table, sighing at the chaos. Normally it was a bit more quiet...She watched the others with a slight smile; her own personal mask, though it wasn't always a mask. Just lately it seemed to be...She pulled a pen out and started sketching on a napkin as she ate. Bennu always felt better when she was drawing...

IndentElizabeth dragged along her friend of four years. His name was Jack, and Elizabeth hoped he would become hooked to the new bakery as she and so many others had become. Some people who came back to the shop who seemed down or depressed before came back all smiles, and were escorted to the back for awhile. Later they were let go, occasionally with an even bigger smile. It was very mysterious to Elizabeth, and she hoped one day she could know what she didn't that the others did.
IndentJack had been her best friend over that time, and they shared many thoughs and feelings. It was obvious Jack liked Elizabeth, and her him, but she tried to hide it. It was pretty obvious nonetheless, and there was really no reason why she and Jack shouldn't hook up, except the fact that she wanted to save their friendship. What might also have been a problem was that he looked much older and more worn than she did. He had deep blue eyes with a scar below one of them. He had natural looking gray hair as well, though it wasn't at all natural and it was spiked.
IndentElizabeth and Jack made it to the bakery atop the big hill at a quarter to noon. The sun was bright, but it wasn't at all warm. Perhaps it was because winter had finally arrived. "Well, this is it," she said smiling, her raven hair and white skirt gently blowing in the breeze.

Jack was being dragged along the road by Elizabeth, his best friend. He has known her for 4 years and he has been in love with her ever since he saw her. He has always wanted to ask her out but he didnt want to lose the friendship between them. He also had a very unfortunite accident when he was a little boy that left a scare under his right eye and he also was born with gray hair. A very rare happening but it happened to him.
"So why did you bring me here again? I mean it looks nice but I dont normaly hang around here." Jack knew that Elizabeth wanted him to start hanging there with her and he wanted to as well but he wanted to bug her, afterall he liked to make her laugh and smile.
"Guess we better head in, huh?" Jack went to open the door for Elizabeth.

IndentThough Jack meant to make her laugh and smile at his nonsense, she just stood looking at him blankly. He grinned at her, and opened the door to the shop. She nodded at him, her way of saying thanks, and proceeded.
Indent"You've got to try some of these candies," she said, giving him a handful. The candies were neatly wrapped in brown and gold paper. "Chocolate caramel," she said, taking one out of the wrapper and eating it.

Jack grinned at Liz when she stared at him. He knew he had made her mad and hated himself for it. He smiled back at her when he held the door open for her then walked in behide her.
Jack looked around at the shop in awe. He has sen shops before but this one seemed drifferent. It was almost as if it had a aura about it that made it feel like home.
"Well hey, Pretty nice place." Jack said as he looked around. He heard Liz askin him to try the candy and then she handed him a peace. He unrapped it and ate it. "Hmm......Dang! This is pretty good candy!" Jack grabbed a few more peaces and ate them.
"So Liz, Do you hang out here everyday?"

IndentShe smiled at Jack. He was acting like a kid in a candy store--no pun intended. Elizabeth found it to be quite warming, perhaps the way Jack was feeling now about the bakery. "I told you that it was nice in here." She looked around, trying to spot Laurence or Audley. Neither were around.
Indent"I don't come here all the time," she replied, drifting off towards the end of her sentence. Elizabeth had spotted some truffles, and some other candy that was usually expensive at other stores in town. They were much cheaper, only $1.00 for a two dozen. Usually, they were $2.50 for the same amount. Picking 24 truffles and place them in the bag, she thought she felt a hand on her sholder. Turning to look back, there was no one there. Jack was across the bakery, looking at mints and such, which Audley, Laurence, and even Katrina were no where in sight. Strange.
Indent"I wonder where Auddins and Laure are," Elizabeth finally asked (noting their nicknames) as she walked over to where Jack was standing.

Jack was walking around looking at all of the candy and food they had. He was listening to Liz talking and also grabing some gummy worms and placeing them into his bag.
"Are they normaly here?" asked Jack, woundering if Liz normaly sees them at the bakery.

IndentElizabeth nodded, listening carefully to the noises comming from the back. "I'm sure they're here. Come on, let's keep looking around." There were rows and rows of pastries, candies, baked goods...it was like a sweet tooth's heaven. Jack was obviously still in a shock of amazement, atleast that's what Elizabeth though.

Jack was still looking around when Liz started to walk of to the back. He quickly ought up with her and followed her to the back while still looking around. Jack was still is shock at how a small backery out here could have all thus stuff.
"So are these people the ones who run the place?" Jack asked.

IndentElizabeth nodded. "Audley and Laurence run the bakery, yes. Audley owns it, an Laurence helps him around the bakery." Gently placing her bag of candy down, she leaned over the table to yell for someone. However, the counter was slick in that one area and she slipped. "Audleeeeeeey!" she yelled, quickly falling to the floor. She placed her hand under her, closing one eye. "Ouch..." she whispered, embarassed.

Jack quickly ran over to help Liz up. Once he saw that she was ok he smiled and kinda laughed. He put his hand to her to help her up. "You need any help Lizzy?" Jack said while smiling at her. " Looked like a nasty fall, you ok?" Jack asked.

Indent"No thanks," she said with a fake smile. Standing up and dusting off her outfit, Elizabeth suddenly had an idea. She placed the candy bag behind some mints, and also took Jack's and did the same. "I doubt anyone will find them here. Since they are busy, we can come back later and purchase them--or I could come back later and get them. You'll just owe me." Her fake smile turned into a joking one, although something about it still seemed fake. Turning to leave, Elizabeth looked back one more time. "What can they be doing?"
