He heard Mana's voice above him, and couldn't help but agree with the comment. "Seems that way, doesn't it." he answered, although he was unsure if the winged pirate was talking to himself or not. "A normal fog would have cleared already." He glanced up at Mana. "I take it that it's no clearer up there?"

"Its thin in a few areas, but even I still can't see through it."

He glanced up to the sky and smiled a bit.

"But the sun, she rises beautifuly. This fog won't stand a chance against her. I've heard the birds near by so we will be getting closer to land soon. So we might run into a ship as well. Lets hope we get a bit of action, eh?"

He smiled down at his lizard friend as he finally got the damn knot out. He put it in its place and jumped off the rig, his wings spread to cushion his fall as he landed next to Jasper.

"That is good news," Jasper said, and then added jokingly, "I feel like I haven't seen the sun in days."

He grinned at the other pirate, his mood surprisingly lifted by the thought of the sun.

"I hope that we do run into another ship, we could all use a good fight. There hasn't been much happening lately."

Wicktoria released the ropes she'd been holding on to, landing hard next to the two men on the deck. She straightened her jacket, one of her feet pulling back and trying to get a claw unhooked from the wood. "Though a fight would be nice, getting their supplies would be nicer. There's a port up a head and something tells me any ships coming from there'll be fat will cargo for us."

With a wild grin at Teneck's orders, Will scrambled spider-like over the rigging with all six limbs until he found things that needed doing - knots to be secured or untied, parts of the sail that needed to be freed from where they had snagged, and suchlike. New rope required here, he reminded himself with a glance at one of his rushed mending jobs. It would hold for now, no problems there, but he didn't fancy leaving it longer than they had to.

The bird-man dropped past him to the deck, shortly followed by Tori. His tasks seen to, he followed - the temptation to show off was a little too great, and he climbed down the rigging headfirst before springing off, somersaulting easily head over heels, and landing perfectly on his feet. Hah. Will Welkin for the win. Because he was just that awesome.

"Mrrw?"

He paused. That had come from behind those boxes. It was a rather muffled meow, but it was a familiar one. "...Scrap?" he ventured, approaching the crates. "Whassamatter, boyo? What've ye got?"

"Mrrrrp!"

And out trotted a little sandy cat, a large dead rat clamped firmly in his jaws. Scrap looked very pleased with himself indeed. Will had to laugh. "Ahaha - oh, clever boy! Clever boy! C'mere...ooh, there we go..." Scooping the cat up and carefully extracting the rat from its jaws, he held the dead rodent in one of his weasel paws while cradling his cat with his human hands. "Atta boy, Scrap," he said proudly. "Good boy. Clever boy. Lots of nice rat fer y're tea, eh? I'll chop 'im up for ye once I'm off duty, all right?"

The cat just purred, which Will took as an affirmative. Approaching the other more human occupants of the deck, he gestured vaguely with the rodent and gave a lopsided grin. "Apparently we got rats," he said, not much caring that he was stating the bleedin' obvious. "And whass'all this talk o'plunder? You see a ship out in all'o'that, bird-man?" It wasn't an insulting term - it must be nice to have wings.

Mana watched the weasel land and smirked. It always seemed like a competition amongst the rigging rats to out do each other in a dismount. But it made for good fun. He looked to the dead rat and chuckled. His Darling had given him a present not a few days ago, left it right in his bed she did.

"Well thats a good sign. Darling has caught a few herself but none so big. I'm thinking she's getting a bit lazy."

He looked out to sea at Will's question, his yellow eyes attempting to focus out into the briny deep. But again, the fog kept its secrets from him. Damn fog, how he hated it.

"A good chance of it. We are still a bit far out for a port, but with birds so near by a few ships might be in the area. But I still can't see through it. And as I don't know how close or what direction the land might be, I'm not spreading my wings over the ocean just yet. Better your feet on a rocking boat than swimming in the deep."

"No sign yet, but at least if there is we have the element of surprise with this fog bank on us. If we can't see anything I doubt they can see us." Wicktoria said, getting her foot free of the board. "And as for rats, they must a' got on when we last stopped."

The rigging rats were always amusing, at least to Jasper, in how they tried to outdo each other, but at least they were having fun. "More than likely," Jasper said, in responce to the rat comment. "They seem to like it here." He wasn't too fond of rats, although his cat was, but there wasn't anyway to keep them off of the ship. "But,at least they give the cats something to do."

As she walks from her cabin onto the foggy deck, Amie hears mention of a rat. She hadn't been able to chase one for a while, and she was getting kind of restless. "What's this I hear of a rat? I'm kind of bored, and I think I good romp around the ship chasing one of those sounds like just the thing to ease that."
PostPosted: Wed Feb 21, 2007 4:12 am

"Seems you are a bit late for it, Amie. Will's Scrap just brought him a prize. Though I'm sure they are hiding down in the gunnery since most cats don't like the harsh smell of the powder."

Mana smiled at the feline before looking back out to sea. Chasing things was fine but it had been a bit since he had been able to fly. How he missed soaring above the clouds and diving at other birds.

"Ye want a rat? There might be a few left if ye hurry," Will joked to Amie, "but I'd be quick if I were you - Scrap wouldn't be bringin' me rats if 'e 'adn't already gorged 'isself so fat on 'em that 'e can't force another one down!"

The cat just purred.

"Any'ow, if there's a ship out there we're in for some excitement soon enough. Ye might want t'save yer energy, missie, an' chase liddle fat merchants around th'deck o'their ship instead o'rats around the bowels o'ours..."

Amie just nods, "Yeah, you're probably right, I should just wait. Hopefully this fog clears soon. It's really irritating. Anyways, this is Scrap here I take it?" she asks, kneeling down the the cat and scratching it behind the ear a bit. "He's a cute one."

Mana grinned as Amie was introduced to Scrap. Then he heard another meow. The orange tabby peeked out from behind the door leading down to the cabins.

"Well my darling, I see you have come out. Please don't chase Scrap like you normally do."

Darling Nicky walked calmly up to the group. She rubbed up against Jasper purring, then to William. She mewed cutely and began to clean her face.

The Spaniard moved to where the sails cast a shadow onto the deck. His curse made him blind, but he could still tell when the sun was shining brightly and he hated it. The coolness of night was preferable for many reasons. In a fight night gave the bat an advantage; he had grown used to his lack of sight.

Mana looked over to see the craftsman walking about on the deck. He knew he found his way around by sound and other such senses but he felt the need to give him one bit of help.

"Do be careful, Diego. The cats are about on the deck, and I know how silent they can be around you."
