Khalindra, however, didn't want to continue reading for once. His question had formed a million other questions in her own head and she closed the book slowly.
"Adonis," she said quietly, "Why am I a night child? What am I, though, really?" Khali didn't quite understand, "Why am I what I am? Why are ANY of us what we are? Why did we come from that big book and what brought us here?"
The book was set aside and the little girl looked up to the other Tale. The smaller of the two definitely seemed to have a need to know just about everything she could. But why was someone so small asking such big questions?

Speaking of big thoughts.. he eyed the girl warily, trying to imagine himself asking such things as a child. It was laughable - the biggest question he had at her (st)age was 'Is that mine?'
Nowadays, the questions had only briefly crossed his mind, but they were there. And they worried him.
He brushed his hand against the top of her hair, and sighed. "In general, little one, no one really knows what they are, or why they exist. Even adults. It's some big cosmic question that people go through life trying to figure out, but often aren't able to grasp. I heard that if you believe in religion, you believe that you will understand everything once you're dead. When I heard that, I thought it was kind of silly.. what's the point of realizing your destiny if you're dead?" He snorted softly, and shook his head. "But trying to figure out the great scheme of things can give you a headache. There are little things, though. Little things we should know, we will know. Like.. why you're a night child." His hand, which still rested on her hair, tapped one of the little star barrettes on her head. "It's because each one of us, us Tales, we're different in our own way. I think it has to do with where we came from before we came out of the book. It reflects on who we are now. So.. we have gifts and talents that we can use to our advantage. We're just a little better than everyone else. What you choose to do with this advantage is up to you. You decide who you are, and who you're going to be, little Khalindra."
Donny had already decided on his destiny, and he had chosen it himself. He did not believe some hand of fate was moving him in that direction. He would use his talents to better the world.. by ruling it supremely. His Gaia would be such that it would shine as a beacon of glorious beauty and supremacy throughout the cosmos. This was why he was here. This was who he was. And it wasn't because of some stupid book.
