Kaosu smiled, cutting a little bit of his own palm. "You know how corny you sound?" He firmly grasped Haro's hand, feeling their blood mixing together. It sent goosebumps up his spine as he let go. "But I suppose it works all the same."

He grinned, drying the blood off on his pants. He thanked himself that he was smart enough to make a small nick. It wasn't anything incredibly runny or such. It just bled enough to do...whatever it was Haro did there.

He nodded, grin gone. "Don't die, Haro." With that, he walked up and stood in the front lines, behind the first row right behind Aichou. He noticed Rei there and smiled thinly. "I figured you'd be up here, Rei."

He looked at the captains, trying to keep them out of his conversation. "You asked me those questions earlier, but I fibbed a little." He looked at the gate, still inching it's way up. It was nearly up to their heads now, which meant that soon people could run under; the start of the peasant's attack.

"I don't fight for strength." He frowned a little, twirling his weapon in his hands. "My zanpakutou told me to fight to protect people. I fight just for the simple reason of fighting. I like it. I may not be as crazed as some are, but I'm good at it. It just so happens that most of the time I get my enjoyment out of fighting...as I protect people."

Kaosu blinked, bringing his scimitar up to his shoulder. "Just so you know, I'll back you up." Nudging Rei with his shoulder, Kaosu attempted a smile again. "Not that you'll need it, eh Mr. Antisocial?"

Karite came into the district holding his zanpaktou in his hand. He had been in deep slumber for some time and was awaken to the sound of alarms. He needed to find Miyoko Sensei, he wanted to fight along side her since his very first class. He wanted to protect soul society if not the world. "Captain Miyoko! Where are you!?" Karite yelled across the battle field.

((Hope this is ok.))

Haro took a deep breath and heaved a sigh as he stood there, he was worried about this whole thing. But when he saw Kaosu reveal his own blade and take a little nick out of it he smiled as he looked at him. "you know me Kaosu. I am the king of corney and out-dated gestures." Haro said with a laugh. "I actually think I saw that on an old country western in the human world." He said with a grin as he ran up behind him. His feet pounded against the ground and his heart matched their pace and their noise level. When they ended up beside Rei Haro just smiled, he didn't really know the guy, but hell, where was a better place to learn about somebody then on the battle field. "Hey there Rei. Nice to meecha. I am Haro, don't know if we have met, if we have then I forgot about it." He said with a smirk as he looked at the enemies ahead, waiting to see what would happen.

Aichou listens to all of them, and she just smiles to herself. If ever there was a time, it was now. She reaches into her uniform and draws out what looks like a little syringe, filled with a pale blue glowing liquid. She stabs her arm with it, and pushes the plunger, watching it disappear..before tossing it to the side. It only takes a moment, and her aura seems to flicker, before bursting upward, just for a few seconds. Her red eyes that sometimes changed to blue shift; one remains red..and one becomes bright blue. Everything around her becomes still..and her expression becomes calm.

"I only get one chance at this. Chimusha-Taichou's instructions were explicit, and I'd hate to deal with his whining when he can't observe his research. I'm tired of waiting.."

She watches..watches the gate rise. Almost. And then it rises entirely, at least enough for people to get through. The wooden siege engines are locked, holding the gate in place so it won't fall, one on each side, balancing it. The man in the uniform that steps through first pulls off his hood, and the front of the large neckband that covers his face. Aichou wasn't lying. The two of them look exactly alike; facial features..hair..everything. In fact, he's a little feminine, looking him over, but there's no question he's male. Not like Megumi always raised when he was around. The only real difference between them is that her hair is straight, and his is a little ruffled, though it's about the same length. When he speaks, his tone is quiet.

"I apologize. I hate making people wait..and I hate to be kept waiting. I am Gakkuri Aikou. Nice to meet you. Do what you want, I don't care..but nobody touches her. She's mine and mine alone. Keep them busy. We need to buy the other team time to finish their mission."

He points at Aichou then..and like that, it had begun..the enemy starting to come behind Aikou, and around him, raising their weapons, ready to fight..but they flowed around Aichou, giving her and her brother a wide berth; they didn't want to upset their leader.

Hikari looks at those gathered and talking about family. With a sigh, she lets out a small whisper. "I don't really understand 'family.' What I do understand is I've got to fight to protect everything I know." She really hasn't told anybody about her life before the Seireitei, or even before entering Soul Society. It didn't matter if she remembered any of it or not. She didn't have enough experience for that to matter. To her, what matters is the here and now.

Sliding her katana over her sheath, Hikari's reiatsu begins to pick up and swirl around her. The air nearer her begins to feel denser, like she's drawing everything she can in. Through her own reiatsu spills small streaks of a red reiatsu which would identify the hollow within, if anybody could see it that is. It's so small that it could easily escape notice of even the most reiatsu aware. A scary smile spreads across her face. "It's time to come out and play..." Still sliding her katana across her sheath, the sound of metal grating metal can suddenly be heard. "Shurikesu, Munashii!" [Erase, Void!]

Without missing a beat, a plume of smoke hides the transformation of her zanpakutou. The sound of metal grating against metal could clearly be heard, but Hikari only one sword to begin with. When vision of her returns, she is holding two swords, a katana in her right hand and tantou in her left. The swirling sea of reiatsu in her eyes announces that she has done exactly what she just announced, unleashed her shikai. What wouldn't be seen is the thin layer of red already outlining the iris of her left eye, and that very eye squints as if to absorb the entirety of the surroundings.

Hikari's reiatsu is thick, and her killer intent may well drive the weaker willed away as it soaks into her strange reiatsu. The strangest thing is that the air around her twists, as if time/space around her has become distorted. She carefully moves her katana to rest beside and slightly behind her, leading with her left and tantou clearly ahead of her. This betrays a defensive stance, but the positioning of her feet are more offensive, poised and ready to spring. When she whispers, barely audible to those nearest her, it clearly announces what stance she has taken. A voice in her head carrying over her mouth. "Shuusoku Offensive Style..."

Upon close inspection of her two zanpakutou, it's clear that both blades are the pitchest black. They also have different kanji on them, announcing 'offense' and 'defense' on the katana and tantou, respectively. What's strange, however, is that the word that once occupied the base of the blade, 'mamoru' for 'protector', is now a blood-red script upon Hikari's forehead. The katana is much longer, now easily as long as the young girl herself. It is also almost perfectly straight; though, there is a deffinate curve to it. The galaxy-like swirl at the crossguard is now a cresent moon. A tassle also now hangs off the end giving the same brilliant gleam as the moon. The tantou is just long enough to be called a sword, and it has a unique crossguard. It actually stretches down to cover her upper arm. With that and the allusion of fire, it appears a better weapon at creating a shield than attacking with.

Karite looked around when he noticed a strong wind of reiatsu washing over the battle field. He did not know what was going on. He looked and saw Hikari, it looked like she was releasing her shikai. He would have to right this down in his book, right now it seemed like the battle was beginning and Captain Miyoko of second division was no where to be seen. He unsheathed his Zanpaktou and grabbed his sheath and landed in the mist of the what seemed like hell. "What did I get myself into?"

"Karite, get it together and just do what you have been trained." Konpaku screeched from his mind.

Nothing else was said as the man drew his own blades and he and Aichou moved with rapidity at each other; blades met, and they began their dance, their reiatsu mingling together in a swirling aura that spoke not only of hardship, but experience. The two fought almost like a pair of dancers, most likely due to the fact that they both knew each other so well. If it wasn't for the situation, watching them might actually be a beautiful entertainment; stroke for stroke, they seemed perfectly even with each other, even after all this time apart.

The enemy forces however, were anything but elegant. They ran past the two fighting, making a wave of bodies as they came. Still, the young shinigami would have the first blow; they were a bit slow in coming due to the massive group of them. The problem with large numbers coming through limited space was just that. The gathering was mostly men. There were few women in the group, though the ones that were there looked tough for commoners.

Kaosu grinned. It appeared the only one who had moved so far was the man called Aikou...Aichou's twin he guessed. As the force of pitchforks and crude swords began making their way towards the small group of shinigami, Kaosu jumped forward and began running.

Time slowed for a second as he was about to crash head-on with the faster of the group, and he noticed their faces. So full of hate...why could they be hating us? He didn't have time to ponder anymore.

The first of the citizens of Rukongai began raising their weapons, and Kaosu took that oppertunity. Diving under the roof of pitchforks and axes, he slashed forward at one man, and then reversed the slash, cutting towards the torso of a bitter-looking woman. The blade bore down on the lady, and he instead cut into her thigh. He couldn't bring himself to kill a woman, or even harm them incredibly.

Karite looked out into the crowd and noticed women and children. He knew this was a battle he may not walk back from but he would never give up his honor for his life. He followed a code that meant more to him then the lust for battle he wanted destroyed.

Karite jumped forward and slashed down his blade onto a mans shoulder ripping it downwards. As he turned tor strike the high pitched scream from behind him he switched to his sheath. He figured it was a women or a child. He would deal with them in a less cruel way.

He swung his sheath low and tripped her knocking away her weapon and backing away to deal with another wave.

"Kaosu, if your out her don't you die. You owe me another fight." Karite said as he blocked off a blow from a rather tall man.

Nagi and his division stood in place, they were slightly to the left of Aichou's battle but they were close enough to provide the students with assistance if they needed any. The shinigami behind Nagi were ready to fight as they let out a large battle cry. Shortly after, they too charged forward at the army of peasants. A clash between the third division and the peasant army begun. Nagi had no drawn his zampakuto yet, he was blocking and tossing the peasants as they tried to stab him with their makeshift weapons. Nagi had no intention of killling them nor was he focused on it, he would leave that dirty work to the students and grunts nearby, temporarily. What he was really focused on was where and how the shinigami forces were doing on the battlefield. If anyone was hurt he would quickly get them out of the line of fire, although it was not his job, he wanted to prevent the minimal casualties to the shinigami side. The wave of enemy forces just kept coming, like a stampede of bulls. Nagi leaped into the air and stayed there for a few seconds before suddenly disappearing. With one quick movement he dashed downwards like an arrowhead on fire taking out a nice crowd of the peasants below by adding reiatsu to the attack causing an explosive effect. Nagi had pushed himself behind the enemies' front lines and was in a crowd of peasants.

"Third division, contain the enemy within this area!" Nagi shouted hastily, his usual cockiness was gone. He scanned the area, he marked down mentally where the students and his division was before the area which he had cleared with his explosive hakuda attack began to close with more peasants as they rushed through the gate. "This is madness," Nagi looked around he could already see bodies on the ground, peasant bodies, there didn't seem to be any shinigami casualties as of yet. The area around him which was quite spacious after the attack had become clusterphobic once again. A peasant thrusted his spear at Nagi. Quickly grabbing the spear close to the tip (not the sharp part), he broke it off and caught the end of it. Without hesistating he tossed the spearhead at the peasant hitting him right in the face, killing him.

After taking note of where everyone was, Nagi suddenly bursted with movement, as he sidestepped to one side and thrusted his elbow into the gut of one of the peasants knocking down several others behind him. He did not stop there, quickly shunpoing back and forth Nagi began to take each peasant out with his fists knocking them back.

Haro smiled as he stood there amidst his comrades, he closed his eyes and he nodded to them all in turn as he looked around, the offer towards the family thing was not only towards Kaosu, it was an offer to each and every person that was standing there, fighting with him. He didn't have a family...and hadn't in a long time. He smirked as he stood there and looked at the others and he looked into the groups of people, all the poor souls who were fighting against the shinigami. He closed his eye tight, not wanting to look as they rushed forwards, but knowing what he had to do. He took the weapon off of his back and he reeled his arm backwards and then slammed it forwards, letting the scythe go flying towards the enemy. The scythe entered the first line flawlessly, slicing through the legs of men and women alike. On the battlefield one could not afford to care about sex, you had to instead be ready to kill anyone. A woman like Aichu could take you apart a thousand times before you scratched her. Hesitation against women like that was not allowed. He closed his eyes and he watched as the scythe turned around and came back towards him as called it to do so. He smirked as it began to swerve back his way and he smiled as he caught it, blood dripping from the blades. He then charged forwards into the crowd, the first line, besides those that had already been taken down with his zanpakutou hit him hard, a wall of boddies all throwing themselves into the fray. His wind was taken from him by a spear butt to the gut and he coughed heavily as he crouched down from the blow. The man whom was responcible then reverced the weapon and slammed it towards Haro's chest, the tip came dangerously close before Haro was able to lift his weapon against the man and deflect the blow. He then pivoted on his knee and spun, slicing the man's foot clear off. When he hit the ground the other blade slammed home, right through his heart.

Kaosu pushed another hayfork away, and cut into another man from Rukongai. He kicked out a man's knees and sliced into his chest. He slid back a little, and spat a bit. Jumping forward a bit he cut through another body, sending it falling to the ground.

As he looked up, he saw the glint of a blade. He tried bringing his zanpakutou up to block it, but he knew it was too late. The crude blade ripped into his face, all the way from his chin, up across his eye. Kaosu stepped back, and screamed. It was, of course, drowned out by the roar and clamour of battle, but it was loud enough in his own ears.

He stood there a while, watching blood drip on the white tiles through his open eye. The stinging of the cut dulled down as his own anger grew, until he didn't feel it at all.

He roared, weapon raised in both hands, blood flowing down his face and onto his robes, spilling on the ground. He cut into another two, a maniacal grin on his face, one eye open.

(Dox's optional music for this scene: Within Temptation - The Howling)

Madness..?

THIS IS SPARTAAAA!

But in all seriousness, it was madness. As more of them fell, more of them came. As Aichou and Aikou fought, they moved their way through the wall of bodies, to the outside of the gates. Aikou nodded to what looked like a group in reserve, men and women in dark robes, who burst through the bodies, and seem to be a bit more..powerful than the rest. They're not quite Shinigami level, but they're a hell of a lot more competant than the rest of the wall of citizens coming into the mass. It's obvious that the enemy has trained these people; so they weren't just sitting down slouching.

It seems that each of the reserve warriors is squaring off with one of the students that is doing well; while Nagi's shinigami are entering the fray, the younglings, as it were, would have each an opponent of strength.
