Crow had picked another to toss at them when he felt Clayr slump against his leg and fall to the floor. His eyes widened into round circles of gold light. He half-threw, half-dropped the crate and bent to pick her up. As he did, he half-vanished in a cloud of gold, shimmering smoke. When it cleared, he was his normal self, gold eyes narrowed as he clutched Clayr to his chest, kicking his way through stacks of boxes.
"GO!" he shouted, voice sensitive and light now, "Leave us alone!"
With that, he'd cleared a path and, clutching Clayr close, made a mad dash for the far wall and ran straight through.

Xulu was still trying to comprehend the transformation when Faye leaned in closer to him, obscuring his thoughts with a pair of pale cool lips against his neck. Much as he wanted her to bite him he knew she didn't want to and would likely blame him later if she found out.

"C'mon starshine, lets get you gone." Xulu murmured, taking her up the stairs, intending to get her out as fast as he could.

After emerging from the wall, Crow, astonished, found himself in the room they'd entered into first thing. In fact, there was the front door, even! He sighed, heavily, plunking down and squeezing Clayr, gently.
"Come on, gorgeous, wake up, wake up, it's okay, now ..."

It had been a few days since Clayr and Crow had found the abandoned house, and they were learing a little more everyday about how to navigate. It wasn't easy, with the constant shifting of the rooms, but Crow's special abilities were uniquely helpful. Clayr was still not feeling well after the encounter with strangers, and was lying in bed at the moment, staring out the window. Crow was sitting next to her bed, dozing lazily, chin resting on his hand.

Legs wobbly and stomach protecting against anymore candy, Orrin somehow found his way to the very large-looking house. The area didn't look too inviting, and honestly creeped him out but he needed to rest for a little while. He also hoped to find some actual food. Getting up to the door, he knocked and waited. "Neeehh... I don't think anyone lives here. And if someone does, it must be a scary witch! Well...at least it's not made of gingerbread..." He paled a little, already scaring himself.

Clayr listened, closely, for Crow's breathing. It was deep and steady, proof positive he was sleeping. She rolled over in bed and smiled, softly, at him. She sighed, sitting up and shaking her hair down and loose as she slid out of bed.

She tiptoed to the door, closing it to keep from waking up her housemate. She padded down the hallway she wound up in, currently leading to the main staircase. They'd found a kitchen a few days ago, and had outfitted it rather well with everything they would need. This was her destination as she padded out to the staircase.

Orrin shifted on his feet back and forth. Maybe no one lived there, like he thought. "Then maybe it'd be okay for me to go inside, right? Like...to rest. Yeah." He bit at his lower lip, trying to think of it as breaking and entering, then tried the door. It opened for him, squeaking just a little and causing him to jump back into a silly sort of fighting pose. Not that he knew how to fight. "Um...'ello~?" He didn't call out very loud as he peeked inside.

He didn't need to be very loud. Clayr's eyes snapped open at the sound of his voice and she froze on the top step, her foot resting on the next down. She tilted her head up, slowly, her eyes wide and round, cheeks crimson. She stood stalk still, trembling.

Orrin didn't see the girl at first as he moved a little into the house, head turning one way then the next. "Okay...no witch in si--" His eyes locked onto the staircase then the girl standing at the top. He paled then squeaked loudly and scrambled backwards, tripping over his feet and falling flat on his back, glasses flying off. Or course, this was a normal act for him though this time he had knocked the wind out of himself.

Clayr gasped and whimpered sharply, stumbling back as well. Her boots caught the lip of the stair, making her sprawl back flat onto her backside. She whimpered again, in pain this time, but still scooted back away from the top of the stairs, trembling, arms wrapped around her knees tightly. She buried her face in her knees, wishing she'd never left Crow and gone off by herself.

After a moment, Orrin gulped in some air then pushed himself up. "Criminy... I think I lost my glasses again..." He grumbled some, forgetting the girl for the time being while he shuffled around with his hands. Luckily, they didn't go far and were back on his face where they belonged. Now that he could see again, he looked up at the stairs again. "I...I'm sorry for intruding. I'm so terribly rude." She hadn't looked like a witch but then again, he didn't get an eye full before screaming like a girl. "I just needed a place to rest a short while..." His stomach growled but he decided not to mention wanting food either.

She lifted her head, eyes large and watery. Her lips were pursed tensely, and she looked slightly less terrified. She chewed her bottom lip, watching him as she dropped her legs, folding them under her dress. She didn't stand, or speak, but seemed slightly more curious than frightened now.

Pushing himself to his feet, Orrin stayed in the doorway, not wanting to upset the girl anymore than he already had. Since she hadn't said anything, he continued. "I didn't know someone lived here... The door was unlocked so I just figured..." He shrugged a little then adjusted his glasses nervously. "You're not a...a witch, are you? I mean, like a bad witch like the kind who eats children...or..or has houses fall on them. You're not one of those, right?"

Clayr blinked, the scales suddenly tipping away from frightened straight through curious and straight into confused. She wrinkled her brow, slightly, gazing out at the male. She shook her head quickly, and pushed to her feet, slowly, clasping her hands in front of her. She took a couple of slow, timid steps down the stairs, chewing on her bottom lip shyly. She proceeded this way to the bottom landing, staying with her heels against the stairs, just in case the boy did turn out to be dangerous. Not that he looked or acted it. But you can never know . . .

Orrin watched her, making one step back just in case it turned out she really was a witch. "S-so...you're not one? You won't eat me or turn me into a toad?" He held onto the doorjam and smiled nervously. "Then...why do you live here? I thought only witches and ghosts lived in creepy houses. I mean, it's not that creepy but it kinda looks like it. I'm sure it's really nice and cozy..." He took another look at her. She was pretty, to say the least, and she didn't look evil. "You're not a ghost...are you?"
